Yosemite + Adobe CS 5.5 = Inconsistency in the installer database

I have CS5.5 Web Premium for Mac.  I have been using it on my old PowerBook on Mavericks for several months. I just purchased a new PowerBook with Yosemite and cannot get the software to install.  I purchased an external drive, LG Portable DVD Writer.  I first thought that this was the failure point, but, since then, I was about to install MS Office.  Many times the CD spins insanely without allowing me to install.  However three times now, I've made it to the point just passed entering the ID, which was successful (I have a screenshot).  I get to a point of the Installation Status that reports: Your installation encountered errors. Please try restarting your system and installing again.  Inconsistency in the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again.
Trouble-shooting:
CS Cleaner Tool:  After determining that would not resolve the problem, I began doing a little research and found that there was an Exit 15 error in the error log.  I then downloaded the CS Cleaner Tool.  The application returned this message:  The following installations were found on your system. The dialog box was empty. 
I then decided to try to download the application this morning while I was on a dog walk.  It appears that the file downloaded and I was able to initiate the installation.  However, shortly after that, I can an error message stating that it has timed out.  I tried again to install it from the finder, but, it does nothing. 
DVD install from Desktop:  I copied the install files to the desktop and attempted to install.  The install failed at the same point:  Your installation encountered errors.  Please try restarting your system and installing again. Inconsistency in the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again. 
Downloaded version: I found it interesting that my serial number did NOT work in the downloaded version, so I selected the trial, which resulted in the same error message:  Your installation encountered errors, Please try restarting your system and installing again.  Inconsistency in the installer database.  Please restart your computer and install again.
Verified HD format = Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  I read about this being a problem with case sensitivity.. which I don't believe it related to this issue.
I have been reading about deleting the Caps folder.  However, I see that the problem was associated with the Cloud version.
Mac OS X : Macintosh HD>Library>Applciation support>Adobe>Caps.
I am out of ideas!  Please send me the magic answer!  Thanks! Mary

Thanks for taking the time to reply.  I did that today, and got the exact same error message.
This is what I've tried now..
Copying installation files to desktop and installing.
Downloading installation files to desktop.
Any other ideas?  It seems as though there is some kind of "conflict" where old files need to be removed.  However, my earlier assessment found that those files do not exist, since nothing is actually installed yet.

    remove your caps database.  this shows the location for cs3.  make the obvious changes for cs5.

    I'm trying to install Photoshop CS6 on my new Mac.
    After 2% have been installed, I get the error message "CS6 installation error, inconsistency in the installer database."
    The error summary file shows exit code 15 and 0 fatal errors/errors/warnings.
    I have seen other threads in this forum with the same error and I have tried the suggestions made there but so far, no luck.
    My Photoshop CS6 is a downloaded version from the Adobe webpage. Everything works well until the actual installation starts.
    These are the actions I have tried:
    1. Restart and reinstall
    2. Adobe cleaner tool (no result since there was nothing to clean)
    3. I have deactivated the software from my old computer
    4. Tried to install in safe mode
    5. I have been in touch with Adobe support, did not get much support at all. After some time I was told to start a discussion in this forum.
    Please help... spent two days on this already.

    I have tried to follow the instructions on the link you provided. So far I have not succeded though.
    I downloaded the latest version of the Adobe Application Manager. But for some reason, when I start the application, the Creative Cloud application starts... I don't know what I am doing wrong in this step. I do not use creative cloud and Photoshop CS6 is not available for installation there, only Photoshop CC.
    How do I install the software through Adobe Application Manager and not the installer that was provided with the download of Photoshop CS6?

    Jonkpirateboy did you migrate/transfer/copy your CS5.5 application to this new Mac?
    If so then please utilize the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  You will then want to run the CC Cleaner Tool located at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
    Finally if you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available for download at Download CS5.5 products.

    Run the install again. If the error recurs, then run CS Cleaner Tool and remove all products.

    Trying to put CS5.5 on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.9.4. In the final "Installation Status" screen, has a triangle warning with Your installation encountered errors at the top. In the box it says "Inconsistency in the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again." Tried that several times now. Any ideas?

    Manually delete the caps.db in the caps folder. Just running the cleaner script doesn't resolcve that particular issue as in fact a completely unrelated entry in the database may be causing this and not show up in the tool at all...

    I'll see if I have time to re-download the 1.5GB installer and try again tomorrow, but I'm not really sure why I should bother given I managed to create my illustration with Inkscape this afternoon while waiting for this to be resolved.
    Honestly, do you really expect to be able to attract new customers if your installation experience is this poor? You're asking people to...
    1) Download and install the Adobe Download Assistant.
    2) Download a ridiculously huge file (most OSes are smaller than a 1.5GB download)
    3) Attempt to install the file.
    4) Clean their Adobe installation folder when that fails to work.
    5) Re-download the file a slightly different way (so we're up to over 3GB now)
    6) Attempt to install that file.
    ...and then assuming that works, you charge them over $1000 for the privilege. Not exactly a persuasive buying experience.
    Contrast that with Inkscape:
    1) Download a 80MB archive.
    2) Extract to a folder.
    3) Run the app - done.
    Pain involved:none. Cost the user: $0.

    Meanwhile I solved the problem as follows: I searched for "dreamweaver" everywhere an deleted everything I could find. Then I searched for "CS6" and did the same. I guess there were around 20 or more places where I deleted directorys or files. Suddenly the installation did not stop at 2 % what it always did before and the installation was a success :-) It cost me more than 4 hours to figure that out and I did not find a really helping hint somewhere. Adobe itself I could not contact because I could not find an email adress or a phone number - poor support for such an expensive software. For luck I did not have to deliver something just in time. Lacking a useful support is a really poor, poor attitude of Adobe... I think I will not buy anymore Adobe products - it could cost too much of my time... :-(
