Yosemite and Canon LBP 5200

I cannot seem to find a driver that fits between my updated Yosemite and my new (2nd hand) Canon LBP 5200. I downloaded the latest driver (for OSX 10.5) available from canon's website,
http://search-au.canon.com.au/canon__au_en__au_en/search.x?q=&ie=utf8&cat=0&ct=S upport&pagemax=10&imgsize=1&pdf=ok&zoom=1&hf=category%09zubaken&cf=model_sm%3ALA SER+SHOT+LBP5200&modelName=LASER+SHOT+LBP5200&ref=www.canon.com.au&pid=m8LewQkHc O7RE3irxpChUg..&qid=Em7T1TZvnrHhBHRxt99RWdugVEtFCiFs&d=DOWNLOADS%09Mac+OS+X+v10. 5
but when I go to add the printer, it appears in the list, but it does not show CAPT driver in the Use: box. It wants me to choose a driver, which I then do, and after selecting Select software, a list of printer drivers appear - except one for the LBP5200!!!
Please help

Download Canon LBP5200 NetSpot Device Installer v.3.2.3(r3202) driver
Says it's for 10.6 and it will work better than the 10.5 version.

  • Yosemite and Canon A630 camera

I have a Canon A630 camera which I have been using successfully on a Windows machine. I attached it to a new MacBook Pro running Yosemite and it does not recognize that the camera is attached. Do I need software from Canon or should Yosemite recognize it?

    Hello DonHalt,
Based on your post, it sounds as though your camera is not being recognized via USB. I have included an article that provides some helpful troubleshooting steps:
OS X Yosemite: If a USB device isn’t working
If your USB device isn’t working, there are several things you can try to solve the problem
If a USB device isn’t working properly, make sure you connected it to your computer correctly, plugged it into a power outlet if it has a power cord, and installed any software it needs.
    Check power and cables:
Make sure the USB device is turned on and its cables are properly connected.
    Check for missing software:
Make sure you installed the latest software for your device. Visit the manufacturer’s website for any updates.
If the device is connected to a USB hub:
Make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed HUB, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and so on.
If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord:
Try plugging the device directly into your computer’s USB port  or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
If you have many devices connected to your Mac:
Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and that any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device causing the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
Verify that the device appears in System Information:
Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. In the window that appears, click Overview, then click the System Report button to open System Information.
In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the Contents list. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
    Restart apps:
Quit and restart any apps that use the device.
    Restart your Mac:
    Choose Apple menu > Restart.
    Check your device’s USB connection
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Yosemite and Canon RAWs - Random "Unsupported File Format"

It all started with Yosemite betas, random raw files in Aperture would pop up with the dreaded "Unsupported File Format" graphic. I tried a lot of stuff, rebuild the library, delete prefs, etc. Nothing work. I tried exporting the raws and neither iPhoto or Preview would open them. Downloaded the LightRoom 5 trial and it opens the files fine. OK, tried Aperture on a laptop with Mavericks, the files open fine there too.  So it looks like it is something in the way that MacOS is handling
Any ideas? Now with the final release of Yosemite and Aperture 3.6 trying to open one of these file just crashes the software. I can't really say I like LightRoom but if I have to move on, I guess I will.

What version of iPhoto is it?
The issue is that the OS provides RAW support, but the applications need to leverage it. Aperture 1.5.6 is old: Aperture 2.0 came out in March of 2008 so there hasn't been an update to Aperture 1.5 since 2007-ish. It is unlikely that any cameras that shipped since then will ever be supported in Aperture 1.5.x.
The improvements/advantages to going with Aperture 3.1 over 1.5 are huge (assuming you have a capable machine) and well worth it.

  • Yosemite and Canon MX310 scanner are incompatible

I recently installed Yosemite OS on my Mini Mac (2011). Till then my Canon MX310 scanned and printed fine. Now it does not scan any longer and I get this message:
Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons:
    - Scanner is turned off.
    - USB cable is disconnected.
    It prints fine, no problems.
I looked for a possible solution and found that the Canon site does not list version 10.10 for the MX310. Can I thus assume that my printer/scanner is now obsolete and not compatible with my computer. If this is the case I am seriously peeved that I downloaded Yosemite. This is not my only problem with Yosemite.
Question: Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks for confirming the connection.
For you to have the Scan button that you previously saw in Printers & Scanners the ICA driver must be installed. Typically this would be downloaded from the Apple Software Update server when you add the device. And this same ICA driver is used by Image Capture for scanning.
The ICA driver is installed in /Library/Image Capture/Devices and will be labelled CanonIJScannerX, where X is a number. I'm not sure what number it will be for this model. You should already have at least one of these packages in this folder. Can you reply with what you do have in this folder and I will check to see if the MX310 is listed in the respective packages you do have.
With MP Navigator/ScanGear also not working I wonder if you have some other software running that could be impacting the operation of the USB port? Ever had another brand of multifunction device installed on this Mac? If so, what brand?

  • OS X Yosemite and Canon iRC 1021

I had the same issue with a Kodak printer and an iMac at home. Followed this page and everything was working again. Give a shot and it might work for you as well.
    http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/49527/~/error%3A-filter-failed-message%3A-printi...

On our LAN we have a Canon iRC 1021/1022 used by several Windows clients and two Mac clients. The Mac clients, a MacBook Pro and an iMac, were both running Mavericks. Both have been using the same Canon driver downloaded from Canon USA.
Both Macs recently updated to Yosemite. The MacBook Pro continues to print to the Canon with no problem. The iMac however does not. When the iMac sends a print job to the Canon print queue, it fails stating "Failed - Filter" next to the job in the queue.
The Canon USA site does not offer a printer driver for Yosemite for this device, only a fax driver.
Since the MacBook continues to print to this device after the update to Yosemite, it appears the iMac could also, if the problem causing the failure is addressed. Any ideas on what might be the issue?
    Thanks!

  • Yosemite Driver for Canon LBP 2900

    Hi there,
Now that Yosemite has been installed and working well, I am left with a non-functional Canon LBP2900.  On Mavericks, it worked well with the patch but seems it doesn't carry across to the new OS.  I have reset my printer settings and re-patched the system as per Mavericks but no joy.
Any tips? or lots of printers going into the bin!!!
    Regards

Re: I can't use canon LBP 2900 in Yosemite 10.10.
    in response to Thet Aung
    I finally solved the problem.
    1. Delete your printer in Printers and scanners preferences.
    2. Restart computer.
    3. Download and install the following driver (version 3.67 has just been released for Yosemite): http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100420705.html
    4. Restart computer.
    5. Download and install the patch appearing at step 3 on this page: http://macdaily.me/howto/how-to-install-canon-lbp2900-on-mac-os-x-mavericks/
    6. Restart computer.
    7. Connect the printer with USB, add the driver in Printers and scanners preferences, select the appropriate driver.
    8. Enjoy the rest of the day.
    It works for me!!!

  • Canon LBP 6020 printer & Yosemite problem

My printer Canon LBP 6020 does not work after installing Yosemite. I guess the problem is with the driver(Mac_CAPT_Ver366_uk_EN).I have tried to find new driver that goes with OS X Yosemite 10.10 (14A389) without any luck. Is there anybody who can help?

Thank you for supplying the information.
Your image shows that the driver being used is v2.05, which was not 10.8 compatible. The latest version of UFR2 driver is v2.43, so check the Canon web site in your region for this latest version of driver for this model.
After downloading the driver, delete the current printer/s in Print & Scan that are using the v2.05 driver. Then open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Printers > Canon and trash the UFR2 folder. Then restart the Mac and install the v2.43 driver. When the driver has finished installing, then add the printer in Print & Scan.

  • Canon LBP 810 and OSX

    Hi all,
Does somebody is using this printer with OSX ?
There isn't any driver for Mac, any workaround to get it working with OSX ?
    Thanks a lot,

    I don't see LBP-810 but I do see 811 Series support.
Will Canon introduce a new driver to
support setup utility for the i80 printers that will
support Mac OS X v.10.4 (Tiger)?
Yes. The latest printer driver is currently available
for download from our website. The updated driver is
required for the functionality of PictBridge, iRDA or
    the optional Bluetooth adapter.

    Hi The Hatter,
    Thanks for your time.
Yep when I go to the french canon site canon.fr
I do select Services and Support
I do click on Downloading Drivers and softwares
I do select LBP 810 within Printers Menu
I do select Mac OS X as operating system
I do select English or French
Result :nothing found...there isn't any OSX driver...
I didn't know that there was printers made for Windows only, it's amazing.
I've pushed a friend of mine to switch to Apple, so he bought an iMac intel 20", he received it friday and saturday I've been to his place to set it up.
First problem was that it was impossible to connect to Internet with iMac through his USB Modem, I found on Thomson site a Mac OS Tiger driver for his USB modem, it was a .sit file, iMac is not able to open a such file, I told him you'll have to buy a small software for this...
Even with this new driver the modem was not working, I've posted onto iMac forum and get an answer -> leave this USB modem and buy a NeatGear, I explained to my friend you have to buy a new modem...
His PC being replaced by iMac will be displace to another room, so I told him you have to buy a WiFi PCI card for your PC ...
Then waiting for the new modem delivery..., we wanted to install his printer Canon LBP 810, impossible, so I told him you have to buy a new printer...
It's the first time for him to meet Apple, now he is wondering whether he'll have to buy a new house to make iMac working...

  • I upgraded to Yosemite and can no longer import photos from my camera

I have a Canon Eos Rebel SLR Digital Camera (Model DS6041).  It has always worked perfectly with iPhoto on my iMac running Maverick.  I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday and now when I plug the camera in...iPhoto opens...and it shows the camera listed in the pane on the left but in the upper right hand corner of the main photo window it just continually says "Loading".  I plugged it into my wife's Macbook Air which was also upgraded yesterday morning and it did the same thing.  In order to make sure it was a problem with Yosemite and not my camera...I plugged it into my dad's Macbook Air which HASN'T been upgraded.  It is still running Maverick.  His Macbook immediately recognized the photos and loaded them and was ready for me to import.  Does anyone know what is going on with the Yosemite upgrade and if it is being looked at?  Thank you.

Have you guys tried this?...  It worked for me
I called Canon and they said to change a setting on the camera and for me it worked.  They said to go to the settings menu and go to communication... on my camera there are two choices... Normal (PC) and PTP.  Mine was set to normal and always worked fine.  After the Yosemite update...it no longer worked.  Yesterday I changed it to PTP and the pictures popped right up.  Hopefully you have similar settings in your camera and can try this...

  • Canon LBP 6200d No longer printing on 10.9.5

I have a Canon LBP 6200d compact laser printer and it was working fine with the UK CAPT driver. I must have installed an update form Apple or something and now it no longer works. I removed the driver, added it again, deleted this and that in the /library/ folder and re-installed the CAPT software 3.67 and still nothing. It shows up in the USB discovery. I can add it and choose the LBP6200 UK CAPT selection and then it shown a green light idle online but when I send anything to it the light goes yellow and the job spools indefinitely.
So did Apple "seal" up this loophole of being able to print to a printer that is officially not supported by Mac in the US (It seems to be supported everywhere else).
    Thanks!

The only other thing I can think of, is that your hardware is older and Yosemite is taxing it.  FCPX will degrade image quality so it can get smoother playback on occasions.  But when you stop playback and are parked on a single frame, you'll see the full resolution.  This could be happening also.  What are your Mac's specs?
BTW, video noise is very, very difficult to get rid of.  You can improve it, but short of something like the very expensive (and very long rendering) Neat Video plugin, video noise is something you mostly live with, if it is too drastic in the image.

  • Driver for Canon LBP-3000 printer

    to all,
i could imagine tha there would be no driver of the LBP-3000 available for mac...
i found a site, saying that there is a CAPT driver from a japanese canon's site. the problem is... the dirver fits only up to Mac OS X 10.4.4... the OS in my macbook is tiger...
    what should i do???
    thanks!

10.4.4 is Tiger. Current build is 10.4.6. Next one coming up is 10.4.7, so this driver is supported in Tiger.
    From MacOSHints:
After months of frustration of having to use Virtual PC running Windows XP in order to print to the Canon LBP 3000, I've finally discovered that Canon has indeed (albeit silently to the whole world) released a CAPT printer driver that works without the ridiculous requirement of having to have the Japanese version of OS X installed. This is not the Linux CUPS version, it is the full LBP CAPT driver made by Canon themselves. Software support: 10.2.8 thru to 10.4.4 (in English)
    http://cweb.canon.jp/drv-upd/lasershot/captusbmacx.html
    It apparently works with:
    LBP-2410 / 1210 / 1120 / 1110 / 1110, Premium / 1110SE, LBP5200 / 5000 / 3600 / 3500 / 3300 / 3210 / 3200 / 3000.
I've tested it with LBP3000 on 10.4.5 (directly and via Printer Sharing). The installer is in Japanese, and it quits all applications and requires a restart, and requires you to manually setup the printer using the System Preferences. After this mild digression, you have full printer functionality and setup options (including toner usage), all in English, and it's nice and fast.
My insanity has now gone, and I can now terminate that unnecessary relationship with Virtual PC for good!
PS: Japanese language skills are not required, just press the default button(s) when installing. If you're looking for an excellently cheap printer, I can now seriously recommend the LBP-3000.
