Yosemite and Elements 12 - slow!!
Just downloaded OS X Yosemite 10.10 on my MacBook Pro (Retina 13 inch, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, 4 GHz Intel Core i5) .... and noticed that my Photoshop Elements 12 has almost come to a standstill! Any suggestions to sort this out would be most appreciated Daniel
First be sure you have the 12.1 update, then delete the preferences. If you are using a trackpad, get a mouse.

I have recently upgraded to Yosemite and still have Elements version 6 which worked fine on Mavericks. Sadly many features are no longer working with Yosemite so I wondered if Elements 13 (which I suppose I really ought to upgrade to) is compatible fully with Yosemite?
Yes, PSE 13 is compatible with 10.10, but first try this, if you haven't already done so:
A Reminder for Mac Folks upgrading to Yosemite | Barbara's Sort-of-Tech Blog
For PSE 6 you would want the bridge .plists instead of those for organizer. -
Upgraded to Yosemite and MBP running slow. Help!
The EtreCheck is below. Computer ran great before the upgrade... Not sure what to do.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created. -
Yosemite and Macbook Pro - SLOW
I know there's some posts talking about MacbookPro and Yosemite but the tile of the thread is not so clear.
So I propose to open this one (Title is clear ;-) ) to group all posts regarding the problem.
I mainly hope that Apple will read it (again I suppose they already known about the problem !!!) and can give an update very soon.
So my problem with my "Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2010 - 2,66 GHz - Intel Core I7 - 8 Gb RAM" is that each time I try to do something ... I have the multicoloured spinning wheel turning ... and turning ...
It become nearly impossible to use my MacbookPro.
I don't have Filevault enable and turning Off wifi and/or Bluetooth doesn't change anything!!
For me there is no work around ... just need a Yosemite update!!!!!

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Alternatively, see:

System running ridiculously slow after installing Yosemite and Adobe CC
SInce installing Yosemite and upgrading to Adobe CC for all my design apps, my computer runs soooooo slow. Since then, I've run all the disk utility stuff and upgraded from 8gb to 12gb of RAM. That about ends my knowledge. I ran EntreCheck with report below. Any insight on what to do would be HUGELY appreciated.
Problem description:

At this point I've erased the drive and reinstalled Yosemite. I haven't brought any files or applications back in yet, but things are still moving really slow. Here's my latest EntreCheck report. Any insight would be very helpful.

My computer has been getting the pin wheel and moving very slow since the i downloaded yosemite
Whenever i have a video playing from my internet browser it causes my computer to pin wheel and go into thinking mode with all of my apps that are open. It moves very slow and i have to force quit everything and reboot my computer to make it act normal. this all started after the software update. Any suggestions>
Mine has been moving extremely slow, too. I had a problem downloading and installing Yosemite and after many conversations with Apple Care, the solution was to remove the 3rd party RAM I had just installed prior to the upgrade. That solved the download/install problem, but now it's slow as anything. I opened my activity monitor and sure enough, the memory pressure is at full load so I have to install more memory. The trick is to make sure it's truly compatible.
Have you checked your activity monitor's memory report? -
Have just down loaded Yosemite over Mountain Lion, Indesign CS5 does not work ( Am dependant on it) although Bridge , Light Room and Elements operate OK How do I solve this rapidly. Can any one help on this issue. Thanks
Sorry to say it, but I think you can see from Bob's response that there's no way to solve this rapidly.
Did you take an image of your Mountain Lion install before upgrading to Yosemite? Roll back to that. If you're not in the habit of taking a snapshot of your system before performing operating system upgrades - get in that habit. If you are dependent on anything at all on hour computer, having a reliable backup method in place is essential. If you don't have a Time Capsule, or some other way to run Time Machine onto a disk that's not in your computer, go set that up yesterday.
If you can't just remove Yosemite and roll back to Mountain Lion for whatever reason, you can partition your drive so that you can install both Yosemite and Mountain Lion on the same drive, and then boot into Mountain Lion when you need to work in CS5. Or you can take your Mountain Lion disc (I assume you have one, no?) and then use it to create a virtual machine in something like VirtualBox to run Mountain Lion from inside Yosemite. -
I upgraded to Yosemite and computer running very slow. It is an older iMac 2009. if I cant get it running faster I will have to downgrade os or upgrade ram. Is there something else I can try? Here is scan of computer:

created by Barbara B. in Photoshop Elements - View the full discussionIf the problem is with the Graphic Novel or Comic filter, those don't work in PSE 11 any version of OS X after 10.7, IIRC. For other filters, did you delete all your existing preferences on upgrading to 10.10? Do you also connect the external USB drive to the AC power as well while you use it ?

I have a Photopshop Elements 10.0 on my Mac, I purchased it in English, did an upgrade of my Mac to OS Yosemite and suddenly the language of Photoshop is German. How can I fix this ?
I have found another solution. I upgraded to Yosemite and found the the App Store version of PSE 10 (which didn't change) was suddenly in German. Close PSE if it is open. Use the Finder and go to the PSE 10 application in the Applications folder. Right click (or ctl-click) on it and select "Show Package Contents". Then go to Contents>Locales and delete the de_DE folder. (I imagine you could also rename it to something starting with a letter after "e". I think PSE is probably using the first language it comes to in this Locale folder.) Start PSE. It worked for me. Hope this helped.
