Yosemite and Logitech Media Server

I have just upgraded to 10.10.1 from Mountain Lion. I had to reinstall Photoshop and upgrade VM Fusion, but, apart from other niggling annoyances, the only thing that, up to now, I can't make work, for love nor money, is the Squeezebox Server. I have tried everything I have found on this and other forums and it still resolutely refuses to start.
I would be eternally grateful if anyone can come up with something new!

An update!
If the LMS version 7.9 is installed and the /Users/<username>/Library/Logs/Squeezebox directory is deleted, then it works!

I held off upgrading my Mac Pro -- which acts as a server for iTunes and other things around the house -- to Yosemite until today. All was well except for getting LMS to start. I was pretty bummed at the prospect of not having my tunes on my Squeezebox radio. In any case, I'm glad I found my answer in 5 seconds here at the Apple forums. Rock on.

Logitech Media Server won't start

Hi,
Logitech Media Server won’t start after I clean installed 10.10.1 and migrated my user data from time machine. I tried tuned of firewall and clean install LMS many times and tried different version of LMS from 7.7.4 to 7.9 but none of them worked.
I builded a new user account for testing, LMS works well in this new user account.
Is there anything I can do to fix my old user account?

WRT400N and HP Media Server

I just replaced my old Linksys with the 400N. No problems connecting my desktop and accessing a network printer and HP Media Server file shares. However, while I can get my HP laptop wireless connected to the network and internet I cannot get it to access the file shares on the media server. I can, however, use iexplorer to access the Media Server's admin screens. Is the 400N blocking some try of network traffic?

Most likely, this is a computer software firewall problem. When you replaced your router, your computer software firewall noticed that you "joined a new network", and therefore automatically set itself so that no other computers on the network are "trusted". Therefore signals from the other computers are being blocked by the computer software firewall.
To fix this problem, go into the computer software firewall on each computer, and set it to "trust" the other computers on your network.
If your firewall or PC security program keeps a list of trusted applications (also known as a "trusted zone"), then make sure that your router is in the trusted zone of your firewall...

I have partitioned my time capsule, as I want part of it to act as a media server for both mac and windows. However I don't know what format that I need to partition it to. I also can't make it a permanently accesible drive. I want to restore the drive to the original format (which I don't know) and start again and re-partition the drive in a format that can be used for media by both mac and PC and for time machine back-ups and make the media part of it permanetly accesible so I can add and acccess my files.

You are mixing up a couple of things here.
The TC drive cannot be partitioned without removing it.. did you do that?
If you partition it you must use a Mac disk utility and use the HFS+ ie standard Mac format. And GUID partition table not windows type.
You can select erase disk in the airport utility.. that will take the disk back to original format. No partitions. TC is deliberately not partitioned as it is not a media server.. it is a backup device for TM. Over time .. the disk will be filled with TM backups so you have a long history of file changes to your computer.
There is no media server in the TC.. it is merely disk storage.. you can serve files from it to a media device.. but the TC itself is dumb as dumb.
Now the actual format of the drive is irrelevant to the PC.. The TC offers SMB file services to the network. You can copy files to and from the TC as if it was a local disk without caring one iota about the format. The TC handles that .. it is not a local disk .. it is a network drive.
Although you cannot partition the TC. you can still copy files to it.. this does have implications for TM.. but as long as there is plenty of free space should not be a major issue.
You can create a disk image via the disk utility in a Mac.. and as stated you can create partitions if you do it on a Mac with the disk directly connected which means breaking warranty if any exists on the TC.

Windows Vista and Flash Media Server Streaming Problems

My company recently started using Flash Media Server to
stream audio and video content.
My boss just installed Windows Vista Ultimate and now no
streaming content will play at all. Simple Flash animations work,
but nothing that accesses the Flash Media Server for content. I've
uninstalled and reinstalled multiple versions of the Flash Player
on his machine but nothing seems to work. I also tried the new
"Reset" feature in IE that is supposed to return it to it's
shipping state and that didn't work. I navigated to the "System 32"
folder and ran the Flash Updater EXE. I downloaded and installed
all of the available updates through "Windows Update".
I also tested Flash Objects that stream video on Adobe.com
and they don't play either. Has anyone heard of this happening or
know what I need to do to fix it? I don't know if this is a bug in
the Flash Player or with Windows Vista.

WAMP and Flash Media Server

I currently have WAMP(Windows, Apache,MySQL,PHP) installed as
my primary server; I do not want to change this. What I would like
to do is use Flash Media Server as my primary streaming server and
be able to host media files on it. I have been informed that if I
broadcast from the Media Server on Port 80 I will run into trouble
when I start the WAMP server (because it works on Port 80). The
resolution that I've been told is to put the Media Server on Port
:8080. What I am trying to find out is if any one here is running
the Flash Media Server as a second server using Port 8080 or is it
smarter to just assign Flash Media Server it's own port. By the
way, I am trying to set up a test environment that will replicate
what the real server and application will have to do. Any advice is
greatly appreciated. Thank You

what version of windows are you running?.......try shutting down fms service before making changes.......I know in windows 7 you have to right click choose properties of the folder fms.ini resides in and adjust the security settings.

Proxy between Flash Media Live Encoder and Adobe Media Server

I encode from a pc with Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder to a server with Adobe Media Server. And this configuration works well.
The actual configuration is:
1) computer A (es: 192.168.1.5 - gw 192.168.1.254) point to computer B
with FMS url: rtmp://COMPUTER_B_WAN_IP/live and StreamName
test?user=useruser&password=userpassword
2) computer B (es: 210.22.11.134) with Adobe Media Server
But now I need to encode from Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder (computer A) to a pc (computer P) and then redirect the rtmp stream to the Adobe Media Server (computer B). Those 3 computers have different lan configurations. If I use rtmpsuck (http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/) on computer P, can I use it like proxy to redirect the computer A rtmp flow to computer B?
I suppose:
1) computer A (es: 192.168.1.5 - gw 192.168.1.254) point to computer P with FMS url: rtmp://COMPUTER_P_WAN_IP/live and StreamName test?user=useruser&password=userpassword
2) on computer P (es: 10.10.10.8 - gw 10.10.10.254) I install
rtmpsuck, I open port 1935 on his firewall and I configure iptables

--to-destination COMPUTER_B_WAN_IP:1935
3) on computer B I do nothing.
Now I have 3 questions:
1- Can it works?
2- On computer P (the proxy) I must install rtmpsuck and rtmpsrv or I can install only rtmpsuck? I don't necessary need to record the stream
3- Is there another way to do this? Is there another software to redirect the stream?

Please update us when FMLE OSX is deployed. BTW, I get that the server market is dominated by LINUX/WINDOWS and this is a FMS add on. But, my shops creative workflow is Mac based for obvious reasons. Encoding is part of our editing workflow and thus needs to be mac based. Throw us a bone please.

FLEX 2.0 and Flash Media Server 2.0 Unable to stream from client to server

I have been trying to put together a quick demo to stream
and record audio from Client to Server. I get this error when
trying to connect to FMS.
ArgumentError: Error #2126: NetConnection object must be

Are you trying to make an air app or a web application (flash) for streaming? You may want to check out the osmf framework to help you write a player for mobile platform. Check out http://www.opensourcemediaframework.com/ for more info on how you can write streaming video players using this framework. There are some good tutorials there and also you may post on the forum to get your specific queries solved.

OMA DRM and Flash Media Server

Hi,
I'm curious that if Flash Media Rights Management Server
support OMA DRM and\or WMDRM. Does Flash Media Enconding Server
also encrypts videos to support oma drm or wmdrm?
Or by meaning DRM, Adobe means he has his own way to protect
the content holder rights by using different protocols and other
things and it does not secure the video file but it secure how the
video file is transmitted and seen (by preventing video or audio
being sniffed and/or ripped).

Logitech Media Server will not starts since OS update

Hi All
Updated to OS 10.10 during the week and since then my Logitech server won't start. I click start, in system preferences and in just 2 or 3 seconds it stops again. Downloaded latest Logitech server but still no use.
Any idea?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

Lean and mean media server questions

hello everyone,
I'm currently using arch as a server for my music, and a small webpage. I'm enjoying using the command line for controlling mpd, as my stereo throughout the house, and apache/mongrel for rails, etc...
I'd like to incorporate a video type of server into this setup. I have a ton of movies and tv shows that I don't have a slick solution for enjoying on my actual TV. I've got an nvidia card with TV out, that's not a problem, my real question is what the best software for this is...
I assume I'll have to install X, but do I need like gnome or kde? I want to keep this solution as lean and mean as possible. Maybe it would be a good time for me to learn how to use a *box. I would also like to be able to control it remotely through ssh. Like ssh in, type in a command, and it starts playing on my tv... or maybe even setup a web interface for it, login, list of movies, click, it's playing.
Anyone have a similar setup? or something else, that's cool? Thanks for the ideas!

Thanks for your interest in FMS and Strobe Media Player. SMP is a out of box sample player that can play streams from FMS and no coding is required for its basic functionality.
It can play RTMP and HTTP dynamic Streaming / HTTP progressive as well as multicast streams.
Download the Strobe media playback from http://www.osmf.org/strobe_mediaplayback.html , host it on a webserver and launch in a broswer.
launch either strobemediaplayback.html or setup.html to setup your own player with different settings.
