Yosemite and print settings

MacBook Pro 15 " mid 2012 upgraded to Yosemite.
since I moved to Yosemite printing with programs like Apple Preview and Pages does not work as before with the Mavericks.
if I open a pdf file with Preview settings are limited:
if I open the pdf file with Skim or MS Word printing works correctly with the menu and the Layout / Finish can print two-sided:
nose so I have the impression that the application should be made in Apple searches for the printer to a different folder from the one to which they support the non-Apple applications.
Who do I solve the mystery and says the solution?
sorry my English translation.
emiliano

I looked on the website and it seems that the drivers Konica Minolta bizhub C253 to Yosemite will be updated in January 2015.
But I wonder:
because the same printer works with Word and Skim but does not work with Pages and Preview of Apple?
I believe that the Apple software go to look for the drivers to a location different from non-Apple software (Words, Skim etc ...).
sorry my English translation.

I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?

Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • AutoVue 2D loses configuration and printer settings after 4 or 5 days

AutoVue 2D loses configuration and printer settings after 4 or 5 days, and resets defaults

I purchased a single Oracle AutoVue 2D Professional License. It is loaded locally on a windows 7 workstation with full administrative rights, our network server runs server 2008, all updates are current. We use AutoVue primarily for viewing and printing autocad files, but some other graphic programs and pdf files also.
In configure/general I add the force to black option, in font paths I add the path to our AutoCAD fonts folder, and in colors I change the background to black. In the printer dialogue box,  I set page area to "limits", check "force to black" and "skip blank pages". I then modify the pen settings and save them as a named setting. That's it.
It all works very well for 4 or 5 days then everything resets to defaults, even the named pen settings are lost. It's like I have a trial version and it's only functional for a few days unless its activated, but Oracle says there is no license key for this software I tried loading it on a different workstation with the same results.
    thanks for your help

  • Yosemite and printer problems

I have just upgraded to yosemite and now find that my kodak all in one printer won't work.  I've reinstalled the up to date software and made sure that the wifi is fine.

I found a solution that worked in this house... we had a mac that couldn't see the printer no matter what we did - another mac found the printer with no problems at all... so what we did was that we set the printer to me shared on the network, and then it popped up on the mac that elsewise couldn't see it...
Once installed as a shared printer, we shut the comuter that shared the printer - and like a miracle, the printer then showed up on the inacessable Mac...
I've done this several times after new updates, and it workes like a charm every time... so just ask friends to come over with their computers - one of them will find the printer, and the rest is easy....
Know it's a silly way around it, but if it works, it works!

  • Yosemite and Printer error 79.00FE

Just upgraded to Yosemite and now I can't print on my Hewlett Packard Laserjet 8150n.
All I can get is "Printer Error 79.00FE" or "Printer Error 79.01FE".
    Any ideas?
    --Bill

    Good question, John. Thanks.
Printer works fine (like always) printing Excel page, Microsoft Word page, this page from Firefox, QuarkXpress page.
I only got the error when trying to print the page of an email from Apple about a product at the Store. Other email prints fine.
    Isn't that just bizarre?
I printed the page as a PDF, and when I tried to print that, got the 79.00FE error again.
So the only thing it doesn't want to print is the email from Apple. But when I take a screen shot of the email, I can print that (but not a PDF).
Whew! I thought bad things had happened. (I remember the release of System 7 back in the old days, a six-month nightmare.)

  • Yosemite and printing

Well done Apple! Again, you have released an update to an operating system where you have not fully checked its application and compatibility.  Stop trying to go for the media image and sort your systems BEFORE you release them!  I have now spent 2 hours speaking with your people, regarding my Kodak printer not printing since I downloaded and installed Yosemite. Eventually I am tole to contact Kodak and see if they have released a driver that is compatible with Yosemite.  Ive just spent half an hour on the phone to Kodak, who say they haven't released a driver, and are working on one but it may take 6 months before they release can one.  As Kodak are not a small fly-by-night firm, why on earth didn't Apple share with Kodak what Yosemite would be doing regarding Kodak printers.  Im now told by Apple that I can't remove Yosemite and go back to the older system, when my printer was actually working! - and as I haven't backed up - my choice - I have to completely reset my mac to the setting when i first bought it.  Cheers for that - I seem to be spending SO much time on the phone to Apple, that I feel I should be invited to the Staff Xmas Party!  If you want people to spend vast amounts of money on your products, then you MUST properly and fully evaluate your operating systems BEFORE any release.  I now have the perfect choice - lost ALL my info that I have accumulated over the years or buy a new printer.  On second thoughts, there IS an alternative....return to Windows!!!

The problem is you have the order of operations reversed.
It's up to Kodak to provide printer drivers to Apple, and Kodak chose not to as they exited the home printer market a few years ago as they are just about solvent at this point.
Yosemite was available to developers for over nine months, and at any point Kodak could have tested their printers had they had any interest in doing so; they did not.
Why is it Apple's fault you didn't have a backup to restore from?

  • Converting from Word to PDF and printer settings

I have a program that writes letters automatically in Word and if we have a PDF file as an enclosure when the letter prints, it actually converts the word document as a whole to a PDF. This part works great, however, when the letter begins with Word we have the Page setup for the printer to print the first page on letterhead (tray 1) and all pages after to plain paper (tray 2). When the word document converts to pdf, it is printing everything from tray 1 which is letterhead.
Is there any way to convert a document to pdf and keep the page settings as well?
    Thanks for any input!

Don't have an answer. However, you might consider creating the WORD document so that the letterhead is built in and you do not need the paper.

Open edit>preferences, then click the show lightroom presets folder in the Presets tab. This should be where presets are stored.
make sure store presets with catalog is unchecked (unless you are using this setting intentionally)

  • How can I get Acrobat to save my recent print settings?

    Hi there,
    Setup:
    Mac OSX 10.7.3
    Acrobat X 10.1.2
Having recently upgraded to the most recent Acrobat pro I seem unable to save my most recent print settings. Previosuly, when I setup a page to be, for example, A2 landscape with some specific printer settings, it would then present these same settings when I went to print the same document or another open document. Now, in 10, I can setup the page settings and print settings, print a document, and then when I try and print again it has defaulted to the default page setup (A4 portrait) and default print settings.
This is SO infuriating that I am hoping it is a bug (fixable?) and not just a massive failure of the software.
    Thanks for any advice/help.

I'm not sure (since I always print to the same size), but try this:
Click the Page Setup button at the bottom of the dialog. Ignore the warning screen. Set up the Page Setup in Mac OS X the way you like. At the top, choose Settings and select Save as Default. Then click OK.
Click the Printer button at the bottom of the dialog. Ignore the warning screen. Set up the Print settings in the way you like using the popup menu which initially shows Layout. Then choose Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset. Then click OK.

  • Transfer Print Settings to New Computer

I just bought a new Unibody 17" MBP and want to transfer the Printers and Printer Settings from my old MBP to my new one without having to reinstall them all manually.
    How can this be achieved?

    Not easily...
When a user creates a printer queue, a reference to the queue - called a printer proxy - will exist in the users ~/Library/Printers folder. However, simply copying this folder contents to the new Mac may not enough to get you printing.
The system files associated with the printer queues reside in a number of hidden folders, some of which the administrator has no default write access to, where files, plugins and information about your printer queue/s exist.
Also, depending on the brand/model of printer/s you have installed, the files used when adding a printer queue are often copied to ./Library/Printers/vendorname or ./Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj (for English language files) by the relevant printer installer software. Simply copying these directories to the new Mac will also not create the printer queues for you, but it will give you the files for the printer queue proxies in ~/Library/Printers.
Other directories where files associated with the existing printer queues are ~/Library/Preferences and ./Library/Receipts.
So, unless there is a utility available that can easily copy the printer files you need, you may be better off adding the driver software and printer queues again.

  • Missing print settings tab in lightroom

Anyone know how to get the print settings tab in lightroom?  I have the page setup tab--but not the print settings tab.

I was watching Julianne Koss on AdobeTV talking about printing in Lightroom 5.  The left bottom part of her screen has two “tabs”—one says “page set up” and one says print settings.  On my screen I only have “page setup”.  A great deal of her talk is about Print Settings—this is where you choose the printer, the presets, the copies, the pages, the print settings, media type, color, color settings, print quality---pretty much everything having to do with printing.   I don’t have that tab…VERY  frustrating!
Hers looks like the first attached photo  (see tabs that say page setup and print settings)
Mine looks like the second attached photo  (see only page setup tab)
    Thank you for your help.
    Take care,

  • Lr4 print template not saving 'Print Settings'

First of all ... I'm coming from Lr3 running in Windows XP to Lr4 on a Mac, and I'm still getting used to the way Mac OS does things, so bear with me ...
Since using Lr4 on my Mac, today is the first time coming back to a particular art paper.  If I remember correctly, with Lr3 (Windows) the print settings "Page Setup" and "Print Settings" were combined into a single dialog of parameters.  In any case, a defined Lr3 print template remembered everything (e.g., paper size, paper type, print quality, etc).  However, I am finding Lr4 (Mac) only remembers the 'Page Setup' settings and that I will always need check and usually modify the 'Print Settings'.  Is this a functional difference between Windows and Mac OS, or am I missing something?  Or, did something go awry when I upgraded to Lr 4.1 RC??

  • Color coordination between screen and Printer

When I print, the bright, beautiful picture on the screen prints as a dark, dull picture. I would like the printed picture to be the same as what I see on the screen.  For your information: my OS is Windows 7 Premium.  I use Photo Elements version 10.  My printer is a Canon PIXMA Model MG5220.  I have tried changing software and printer settings, but to no avail.  How do I solve this problem?

    Open the picture file
Go to Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Levels. Use the white eye dropper to set the white point. The other eye droppers are for black and gray points.
    Here is a good reference:
    http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-editing/elements/tone-color/
Sometimes the effect is amazing. It is interesting that the eye droppers are not in the levels adjustment layer.
