[Yosemite] Audio not recognized (coreaudiod)
Hello everyone!
My audio is not recognized after booting my MacBook Pro 13" Late 2010 (Yosemite 10.10.1) and the icon in the menu bar is greyed out.
After executing the following command
sudo killall coreaudiod
everything works again. So my question is, how to fix this problem? Can someone help?
Sorry Klaus1. That was a good idea, but doesn't work. I get the same message "The disk you placed cannot be read by this computer". So, what now...?

Hello All! I have a late 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina display and a powered speaker system that connects with USB. Now I have a late 2009 MacBook Pro that these work just fine with. Both Computers are running Mavericks with all the latest updates. Using them with the 2009 Pro I get the option for "USB audio DAC" under the sound settings in System Prefs, but nothing on the late 2012 Pro. I really need to fix this so any help would be awesome! Thanks!
Problem Solved!
It turned out to be a combination of the usb cable and the OTG USB hub. On my desktop the iBaso was cable specific as to the device being recognized. When I tried the working cable witht the OTG hub on the Stream 7 it failed as usual. But when I tried the cheap monoprice adapter it worked.
The usb audio solves the horrible sound problem with the Stream 7 for anybody who is lookiing for a Fix.
The OTG hub works with a mouse and a mSata drive perfectly but not with the iBAso DAC.
Thanks to everyone who replied for keeping me trying. -
X-Fi Extreme Audio not Recognized by Wi
I'm building a new system, using the Asus P5N-D mobo. I've got XP installed and updated to current. Windows recognizes that there is a pci device installed, but the X-fi drivers dont recognize the card.
Any tips or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Message Edited by jteasdale00 on 04--2008 08:35 PMHi candleja; I too am having the same issue, I was bought X-FI Extreme Audio PCI-Express and I attempted to install it on my FoxConn m/b running XP Pro SP3, same error showed itself saying device could not be located, it shows up in Device Manager but not as a normal audio device would (normally it states something like "Sound or Multimedia Device") it just states "PCI Device", the drivers on the CD didnt work, the drivers on the site didnt work (only being Vista ones is why but worth a go) and the work arounds to force a driver to install wont work on SP3 due to the "Only show compatible drivers" option not being present on device managers driver wizard anymore so I cant force it to install. I looked up the same card on a few online stores and they all said they support both XP/Vista and both 32Bit/64Bit but it did say "XP Pro SP2" rather than "SP3" or "SP2 or higher" but due to having a slipstreamed SP3 XP Pro install source I cant just uninstall SP3, very annoying >.< so if anyone has a solution that would be much appriciated! Its a shame as well I hear good things of this card and I've got a digital/optical surround kit but have been using stock/on-board SPU's for years now and I finally get around to getting a really hyped card and creative let me down grr! KT3 Ultra2 onboard audio not recognized by win 98SE
I have a KT3 Ultra2 MB with the onboard audio enabled in BIOS and running Win98SE. I installed the drivers from the driver disk and followed all the prompts from windows. The device is listed under system and multimedia devices. But windows itself does not recognize that the device exists for playing sounds, recording et al. Multimedia properties says there is no playback device. Sound recorder sees no device. Volume control does not come up at all. The MSI sound manager will not open at all. I downloaded the latest drivers from the website, but there are no instructions as to how to install them, they just expand into a collection of files with no readme.
Silent in TexasReintalling Win98se certainly didn't do the trick for me. I've spent two days installing, trying a few changes, re-installing, trying something else, reinstalling. I even tried removing all my cards except the video but the problem was identical every try.
Can you think of anything special you did during or after the re-install that did the trick? Do you remember versions that you were using and where you got them? This may be a case of the latest drivers being worse than some earlier ones, or some combination of older chipset, newer audio or something crazy.
Speaking of the failed POST, I had a thing with a different MSI board a while ago, where it wouldn't hold the BIOS settings. Every so often (if it was unplugged for a few hours) it would reset (as if the RTC Reset had been jumpered and the checksum was off). If your video card was AGP, and the BIOS reset itself to "primary video = PCI" it might look like nothing was happening on boot up.
I admit that I am about ready to pitch this board too, (or try to return it at least). -
When I insert a audio-cd in my MATSHITADVD-R UJ-825 drive, Finder reports that it cannot read this cd. But the drive is working ok, because Toast Titanium can recognize the audio-cd en shows all the content. The problem only is with audio-cd's, data-cd's, -dvd's and videos are no problem. Any suggestions how to make it work fine with audio?
Sorry Klaus1. That was a good idea, but doesn't work. I get the same message "The disk you placed cannot be read by this computer". So, what now...?

Airport and Audio Not Recognized after logicboard replacement
Hey everyone, this is about to drive me up the wall. I just replaced a logic board in my Santa Rosa 15" MacBook Pro (July 2007) with a more recent Penryn (Jan 2008) logic board. Both are 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo processors.
The Problem?
After replacing the logic board neither my Airport nor my Audio cards seem to be working. In fact the system doesn't recognize that I have either installed. I checked other ports like USB and MagSafe on the left side I/O board and they seem to be working without hesitation. What could be the problem?...how do I fix it since audio and internet are both pretty crucial.
I did notice a difference between the setups of the SR vs. Penryn MBP's with 3 airport antenae on the SR contrary to the 2 antenae on the Penryn. The airport cards also look a bit different regarding their individual casing with apple insignia.
I've checked the other forums and the deletion of the AppleAirport2.ktext did nothing nor did a "power system reset" by taking out battery and holding the power button for 10 seconds.
Is there anything I'm missing?Perhaps the problem is an incompatible logic board.

IMovie '08: Built-in iSight camera not recognized in Yosemite
On this page
http://support.apple.com/en-us/TS2472
iMovie '08: Built-in iSight camera not recognized
it says:
In Finder, navigate to /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/
Select the file com.apple.mio.VDCAssistant.plist and delete.
Restart your system.
You should now be able to use your iSight camera with iMovie.
However, in Yosemite, it only has this file name
com.apple.cmio.VDCAssistant.plist
and I don't want to delete it as instructed without someone who knows telling me it won't hurt my newly installed and thus far working well OS 10.10.1, with iMovie 7.1.4 on my iMac 24 inch, Early 2008, 2.8 GHz Intel Dore 2 Duo, 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. It worked with Leopard, and I don't recall having to use the above mentioned support page.Contact Apple. I believe you have a hardware issue there if it's not showing up in your System profiler.

USB Audio Device Not Recognized by Stream 7 tablet
Half the reason I bought the Stream 7 was to use it has a music player with my iBaso D2 USB Audio DAC Headdphone Amp.
The device is recognnized by my Win 8.1 desktop and every other computer I've plugged it into. Why it is not recognized as an audio playback device is beyond me. I've tried all of the suggestions that I've been able to find on the net without any luck. Is therte some reason why this function has been disabled on the Strwea 7?
This question was solved.

My iTunes ID is not recognized by the App Store after downloading Yosemite
My iTunes ID is not a mac.com id but a hotmail.com id. That is how I have been buying music. Now I need to download updates for the new Yosemite software and the App store is not recognizing my hotmail.com id. How do I clear this up?
I have the same problem on my iMac. I was able to download and install OS X 10.10 Yosemite on my macbook pro retina. i went to my iMac and when I enter my Apple ID and Password (which is correct), it says "Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance". It won't let me download Yosemite. FWIW, I can start up iTunes and log in with my Apple ID and Password without any problem.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! -

After unsuccessfully updating to Yosemite, back on Mavericks. But now my Timemachine or system not recognizing the hard drive. Is there any way to manually locate or find the hard drive?
Hi kruione,
If you are having an issue with an external drive not being detected by your iMac, I would suggest resetting the computer's parameter RAM. See this article for how -

MacBook Pro running Leopard has suddenly thinks audio CDs are blank. Also not recognized in Itunes. What should I do to determine whether it's a hardware or software problem? Or is there something unusual about these CDs?
I have the exact same issue.DVD's work perfectly, but audio cd's have stopped working. I think it's pretty recent, but can't confirm it because i don't use audio cd's daily. So I think it might be software related instead of hardware related. I Have a Macbook pro 15" mid 2009 running the latest OSX release.

Yosemite not recognizing .jpg from Canon 9000F Mark II
Since upgrading to Yosemite, when I scan a photo with my Canon Canonscan 9000F Mark II, the file is not recognized as a .jpg file, either in preview or Photoshop. Has anyone seen this and know an answer?
Thanks. It also does the same thing for me. Same scanner, using Yosemite, the resulting .jpg file results, when trying to open it, in an error that says, "It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognize." There is no new driver for the scanner, and what about Yosemite would cause it not to recognize a .jpg file anyway?

Firefox 27 running but not running
I'm running Windows 7 32-bit. When I installed it, I installed Firefox 27. It worked fine. Then, out of the blue, it began freezing--not momentary, but the kind of freeze which forces one to "crash" shutdown. Sometimes 5 minutes into using firefox, s
