Yosemite automatically adds a new desktop everytime i start my mac; pls help
i have upgraded my mac pro to Yosemite few days earlier and i find an annoying problem whenever i start my mac it automatically adds a new desktop...and when i open my mission control it shows me number of desktops which i haven't added myself; one more thing i am using 2 displays for my system; pls help

If I open up the AirPort App - it only says that it cannot find my AirPort wireless device (probably because I dont have one) and then if I go to networks to connect to my wifi I select my home network and it ask me to input a password (as it should) but when I try to put in my password for my network it says "connection timeout" and the screen behind it (where the options for wifi or ethernet ext are) it says no ip address under wifi (also the status indicator is showing yellow - since my wifi is on just not connected to a network. I cannot seem to find any place to input my information for my specific router. Although I can connect to neighboring wifi routers just fine.

Hi,
I would suggest you to uninstall Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool and then re-install the latest version.

There is no download for 10.4.x or 10.5.x, there is a very slim chance you can get 10.5 by calling Apple, but usually you can only get it on eBay & such.

When you shutdown a window appears to uncheck the loading of programs when the machine starts back up again.
Unfortunately one of Lion's annoyances is you have to keep unchecking this box each time as it rechecks itself.
A hack is to lock a preference file (aka .plist), I haven't tried it.
Unfortunately, it will recheck itself. One permanent fix is as follows:
1. Close all apps you don't want to open at startup.
2. Open your user Library folder. It is normally invisible, so press the Option key while selecting the "Go" menu in the Finder then select "Library" to open it.
3. Use the Get Info dialog "Locked" checkbox to lock this plist:
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.loginwindow.*.plist
where "~" is your home folder and "*" is a sequence of characters (12 in my case). No need to delete the corresponding lockfile.
This plist is where the System stores "reopen windows" info, so the System can't change/delete it if it is locked. Works fine for me and others.

Safari window opens automatically on every new desktop in Mission Control.

In mission control, when I swipe to a different desktop, Safari follows and automatically opens on that new desktop. How do I stop this? This does not happen if safari is in full window mode. I have reset Safari to no avail, and I have opened Safari with the shift key but neither action gets rid of this problem.

Ah, I figured it out. Right click on Safri icon in tray, choose options and Click "none" instead of "every desktop". That was well hidden!

For a research project i am upscaling from an Access database to SQL server/ SQL azure since the database got far too large. Now i am quite well known with Access, but to be quite honest, I am a SQL rookey. So a lot to learn for me here.
what I need is a union query that automatically adds new research dumps to the query. All research dumps have a table name starting with TD_EXP (Table Dump _ Export). In Access VBA I simply made a loop that builds up the SQL statement, but i have no clue
how to do this within SQL Server...
So, I need the UNION Query to select * from TD_Exp_2012_06_06_15_48 UNON all the TD_Exp_XXXX_XX_XX_XX_XX that are added in the database,
Who could help me out please with a dynamic SQL statement.

Yes. I have a 1st gen shuffle, a 2nd gen shuffle, and a "bigger" iPod (plus an iPhone). They can all connect to iTunes at the same time, and be set up independently.
However, if your old shuffle is "full," you can delete song you no longer want on it and add new songs. You don't need to get a new shuffle, just to get more space for new songs.

Everytime I open iTunes lately...I get all my music thrown out of the library and this annoying message come up...The file “iTunes Library.itl” does not appear to be a valid iTunes library file. iTunes has created a new iTunes library and renamed this file to “iTunes Library (Damaged) 4”. Mac will not advance past "Optimizing you Mac" when loading Yosemite. Have to go through set up, agree to terms and conditions, keychain, etc.. everytime I start my Mac.

Having issues with Yosemite. Every time I reboot my Mac I have to go through and agree to terms and conditions, setting up keychain, etc... It states that it is optimizing, but the bar which appears under the launchpad icon never moves.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
