Yosemite Dark Mode app icons

Some app icons don't display in the toolbar correctly when in Dark Mode and was wondering if there is a solution...
Google Music Manager is impossible to see unless you click the toolbar icon - is there a fix for this?
Google Drive is the same but I've downloaded an AppleScript which someone custom made which requires editing the PNG files
however, the Google Music Manager doesn't have any PNG files in its Resource folder.

Still waiting for Automator's cogwheels to work in dark mode in 10.10.2.
DIY editing of menu bar icons for dark mode works without issues for some apps (having made backup copies first):
Box Sync - menubar_idle.png
OneDrive - StatusIcon_signedin.tiff
Hamachi - status_online.png
ScreenSharingMenulet - ScreenSharingMenulet.tif
Flux - flux-icon-mono4.tiff
All the above found in the Resources folders inside the apps themselves.

  • OS X Yosemite "Dark Mode" problem

I have been using OS X Yosemite's "Dark Mode" since Yosemite was first released. It was behaving perfectly fine until last Monday (Jan 26, 2015), but now, every time I restart my Macbook or wake it up from sleep, "Dark Mode" is disabled. To re-enable it, all I have to do is go back into my System Preferences, but its just a weird glitch, and I was wondering if maybe anyone know how to fix it? I am using a Mid-2012 13.3" i5 non-retina Macbook Pro running Yosemite with all of the most current updates. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do you use an app called Flux? if yes, then you might have to remove this app. Check this thread: Dark mode keeps resetting to normal mode

  • Calendar app icon is stuck on date of upgrade

Since upgrading on Saturday to Yosemite, the calendar app icon is stuck on Saturdays date (8 NOV), but if I open the calendar the correct date is highlighted (Nov 11).   I have tried quitting and restarting calendar but that doesn't do anything   Oh and it is still asking for a password to my google account every time (really irritating).
    N.B. I am NOT technical!!!

Thanks for the suggestion DaVBMan, sadly it didn't work. The only thing that did work was to wait until midnight and it corrected itself. In the mind of the phone it lived a whole day twice and then skipped one completely in order to get back on track. Very odd and also I have since discovered it has happened to a few of my friends too.
It's not happened again so I have no idea what so ever what caused it. Fingers crossed it never recurs.

  • Yosemite System menubar icons stuck in Dark Mode?

After a restart, all of my System menubar icons and some my application menubar icons are stuck in dark mode?  All of the OS X System icons are stuck! I don't use dark mode, never have. I have no idea how this happened. Just another Yosemite cluster, I guess. Any help will  be greatly appreciated.

  • What (and where) is Yosemite's "dark mode"?

I've encountered references to Yosemite's "dark mode" but I don't know what it is or how to activate it (and Mac Help makes no mention of it - someone at Apple please take note (yeah, right)).
Can someone enlighten me (or endarken me, as the case may be)? What is it, how do I activate it, and how did the people who know the answers to these questions find them out? I was never told...
    Thanks...

The only actual purpose I can think of for dark mode is for folks who want the entire interface to have a consistent look when using pro apps from Adobe, Apple and other sources who all have the idea that a pro app should have a dark gray design. As if somehow that makes it work any differently. So as an example, this is how Premiere Pro looks under Mavericks:
Boy, that gray bar on top really bugs me. If only there were a way to make it a dark gray to match everything else. In Yosemite, now there is.
Otherwise, it's just for folks who like the Goth look, or whatever. But no matter how you want to look at it, it's a simple preference choice for the user who wants a bit of a different look. That's about all.

  • List Mode as opposed to the silly 20 per page and 220 app icon limitation?

Does anyone know of a tweak that would allow all apps to be in a list mode as opposed to taking up so much real estate? On an iPod, I can understand why there are only 20 app icons per page but on an aPad, one could easily have several more, and better yet, a list of several apps could be posted on one page. I already filled up my iPad's 11 page, 220 icon limit.
Silly restriction, that is, only 220 app icons, and then not making adjustments for the larger screen.
    Any input? Thanks in advance!

  • Mail.app icon changing brightness for no apparent reason.

I'm seeing a weird issue, where the Mail.app icon is slowly changing brightness over time. Starting normal, then over the course of a couple of hours, goes either brighter or darker.
    Restarting Mail.app "resets" it.
This is how it looks currently: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/615699/Screen%20shot%202010-10-19%20at%2019.14.13.png
I did not see this issue on Leopard.
Does any one here know how to fix this?

    Could be the problem?
If the issue is limited to your user account try starting up Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If your Mail icon functions correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to/Users/yourname/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving/Users/yourname/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.

  • BIG problems with iOS 8.2 Safari ("dark mode" menu bar, no auto-fill, etc)... HELP, please?

So I was simply wiping the dust off my screen, with Safari open, and once I had finished... Safari just went belly-up.
And I need some help badly.
First thing that I noticed was that Safari now has a "dark mode" menu bar.
Secondly, my auto-fill user names and passwords no longer "auto-fill" - I have to place the cursor in a field and have the keyboard pop up in order to access the auto-fill function: previously, the fields simply, well, auto-filled.
And, thirdly, when I attempt to post a message to the Apple Support Communities, there is no visible text in the body of the text. I'm using my MacBook Pro to type this message.
I have searched and searched to try to find remedies to my problems, but I can't find a thing. There's nothing unusual in Accessibility (that would make the whole screen, for example, grayscale), nothing changed in passwords, etc.
I'm at my wits end! Even restoring from an older backup doesn't remedy any of the problems.
    Can anyone help?

If the menu bar at the top of Safari show white text on a grey background, and autofill isn't working, then you probably have private browsing 'on'. Tap the icon top right of the Safari screen (the square on top of a second square), tap the Private button at the top of the next screen and then Done - Safari should then go back to its normal colours and autofill should work again

  • Can no longer get weather app icons on Macbook Air.

I can no longer see my weather network app icons. However I did not remove this app. It is showing in my applications folder. If I try to trash it, it tells me I cannot because the app is open. When I go to App store to download it again, it tells me it is already installed. The only change I made was a recent clean up to free space on my hard drive, but I did not (wittingly) remove this app.
    Any ideas/suggestions?
    Thanks,
    PE

Look in the headphone output, is there a red light?
If so, try plugging and unplugging your headphones, also try a different set of headphones, all the jacks are noe exzctly the the same size, if there is a red light it means the MBP is in digital mode. You can try rebooting with headphones plugged in, or cut the end off a Q tip and GENTly insert it in the headphone jack and GENTLY "massage" it, stop at he least bit of resistance, this will some times free up the the micro switch that does the digital thing.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select

If you're not sure when that was, click the Clear Display button in the toolbar of the Console window and then try the installation again.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

How do I re-estate an app icon that has disappeared from the very last page of my icons because I in effect, pushed it away?

    Thanks for your help
You are correct, in settings I can gain access to my apparent.
What I went on to do was "reset" my app screen in settings and all my apps came back on the home pages.
I understand that we only have twelve home pages but you can make files that contain many files on the home page by superimposing file icons while in file moving mode.

  • How do I move or delete App icons from my screen?

I'm tryng to eliminate most of the icons on my phone screen.  On my 4, I used to be able to do it by holding my finger on the icon and either editing or just moving.  But I can't move anything to page 2 of my screen and page 1 is full.  HELP

Press on and hold any one app on the home screen(where it shows all your apps), they'll go into a "wiggle mode", you can then use the x's in the left top corner of the icons to uninstall the apps or drag them around to rearrange them. Also dragging an app icon on top of another one and holding it there for a second will create a "folder" or group, which will allow you to organize apps better. You can also put groups in the dock on the bottom.

  • Dark Mode for the finder/safari/mail/etc

I just upgraded to Yosemite and I am very pleased to see the addition of dark mode for the menu and dock.  This such a basic feature that I've needed since I started using macs ten years ago.
I often use my macbook and ios devices in low light environments for work.  Venues, theaters, bars, etc.  Even on the lowest brightness the screen is distracting to others and compromises my night vision, not to mention causes additional eye strain.  More and more these days, IOS and OS X devices are used by artists on stage and by sound and lighting engineers off stage.  It's a major bummer when you open your finder and and a blinding white light hits you.
For dark mode to be useful it needs to address more than just the dock and menu bar.  Ideally, it would invert colors entirely EXCEPT for images, videos, flash, etc.  I would settle for this only being available in the finder and safari.  I'm aware that I can invert all colors already, but its annoying that I have to view pictures and everything else in negative as well.
It's a bit frustrating that this was an option in the last version of windows I used ten years ago but has been impossible in OS X.  I have every confidence that Apple can make this possible, and I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks,

Closest thing is Flavours, but that's not available for Yosemite yet..
