Yosemite does not give a clue to complete shut down

Ever since I have installed Yosemite on my two iMacs: I find it difficult to find out
after Shut Down command: when does it actually shut down ?
And if I put the power off by Visual Clues: next time I start, there is a bar showing
recovery !

    If restoring the phone as new did not solve your problem, you'll need to bring the phone to Apple for evaluation.

  • Firefox does not close/exit and must be shut down using task manager

    When I "x" out of Firefox, or File menu "exit" or right click to "close," the Firefox window closes but whenever I attempt to restart Firefox, it says that it is already running (hence was never shut down) and I have to use Task Manager to "end process" before re-starting Firefox again. This dilemma only started after upgrading about 6 months ago (can't remember the version). I recently upgraded again but the problem still exists.

    Did not address my issue. Firefox isn't freezing while it's up and running, it just doesn't completely shut down... therefore it's always running behind the scenes.

  • Myipod touch does not resond to touch I have shut down and restored same thing

    My ipod does not respond to touch commands, I have restarted and restored and it is still the same

    Try restoring to factory defaults/new iPod if you have not yet done that.  If restoring to factory defaults/new iPod does not solve the problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • [W520] Does not start on battery only, doesnt shut down or sleep

    Hi all,
    I have quite a huge problem after flooding my W520 with tea. Obviously immediately after spilling it I flipped the machine, unplugged ac, took out the battery. Few days after laptop didnt start so I had it serviced. The keyboard was changed and whole interior was cleaned. At home I tried to power on the laptop (with battery only) but with no reaction, then plugged ac and computer started itself (I didnt press the power button). When it starts it is possible to unplug the ac, and it works on battery.
    Second problem is that the machine doesnt want to powerr off or sleep. It shuts down for 2-3 second then automatically starts (both on ac and when already started with battery). To shut down I have to take out the battery and ac. (Tried all possible stuff, WOL, Always on mode and so on but nothing works) ;/
    Called the service with explanation but nobody seemed to know how to fix it. If you have any ideas that could solve the problem please help...

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    I’m sorry to hear that you spilled tea in your Lenovo ThinkPad W520 and you are facing multiple issues with the system.
    I would suggest you to perform Flee Power – remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer. Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect the AC Adapter and battery and try to turn ON the computer.
    I would suggest you to update BIOS to the latest version, try swapping with a good known AC adapter and battery.
    Basically there's 3 power sources for the motherboard ac adapter, laptop battery and CMOS battery. If either of them goes bad or is malfunctioning you might experience strange behavior. If you have confirmed the functionality of the above said, it probably points to a system board failure.

    Mithun.

  • Upgraded to Yosemite and now my Time Capsule says it does not have enough space to complete backup, yet it has 500 GB free space?

    I have just upgraded to Yosemite and now my Time Capsule says it does not have enough space to complete backup, yet it has 500 GB free space?
    I am using the latest mac book pro and hacvent added anything aside from the upgraded iOS so not sure why the Time Capsule is saying that there is not enough space.
    How can i fix this problem?

    Time Machine has to completely index all of the old backups that are already on the Time Capsule before you can run a new backup successfully.
    That process is going to take a long time......probably 6-10 hours or more if your Mac is connected to the Time Capsule using a wired Ethernet connection.
    If the Mac connects using wireless, it may take a day or two for the process to complete depending on the speed of your connection and the amount of data that you already have on the Time Capsule.
    Wait a day or two for the indexing process to complete and then try to run a new backup again.

  • Sys.sql_Module does not give full defination of store procedure

    I want to get a defination of a store procedure by using sys.sql_Module
    Beflow is the query i use
    SELECT
    @spTxt =ISNULL(smsp.definition, ssmsp.definition))
    FROM sys.all_objects AS sp
    LEFT OUTER JOIN sys.sql_modules AS smsp ON smsp.object_id = sp.object_id
    LEFT OUTER JOIN sys.system_sql_modules AS ssmsp ON ssmsp.object_id = sp.object_id
    WHERE (sp.type = N'P' OR sp.type = N'RF' OR sp.type='PC')and(sp.name=@SpName
    and SCHEMA_NAME(sp.schema_id)=@SchemaName)
    @SchemaName = SCHEMA
    ANd @SpName = Store procedure Name.
    This query does not give me complete store procedure.
    Is there any other table i need to join and I can get full defination?
    Thank you.

    You're confusing what's being stored vs what's being displayed. The full proc is being stored in the definition column. It's just that SSMS won't display the full content of the cell.
    The following is a proc that we use to overcome this situation... (I have no clue who the original author is)
    CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[LongPrint]
    @String NVARCHAR(MAX)
    AS
    Example:
    exec LongPrint @string =
    'This String
    Exists to test
    the system.'
    /* This procedure is designed to overcome the limitation
    in the SQL print command that causes it to truncate strings
    longer than 8000 characters (4000 for nvarchar).
    It will print the text passed to it in substrings smaller than 4000
    characters. If there are carriage returns (CRs) or new lines (NLs in the text),
    it will break up the substrings at the carriage returns and the
    printed version will exactly reflect the string passed.
    If there are insufficient line breaks in the text, it will
    print it out in blocks of 4000 characters with an extra carriage
    return at that point.
    If it is passed a null value, it will do virtually nothing.
    NOTE: This is substantially slower than a simple print, so should only be used
    when actually needed.
    DECLARE @CurrentEnd BIGINT, /* track the length of the next substring */
    @offset TINYINT /*tracks the amount of offset needed */
    SET @string = REPLACE( REPLACE(@string, CHAR(13) + CHAR(10), CHAR(10)) , CHAR(13), CHAR(10))
    WHILE LEN(@String) > 1
    BEGIN
    IF CHARINDEX(CHAR(10), @String) BETWEEN 1 AND 4000
    BEGIN
    SET @CurrentEnd = CHARINDEX(CHAR(10), @String) -1
    SET @offset = 2
    END
    ELSE
    BEGIN
    SET @CurrentEnd = 4000
    SET @offset = 1
    END
    PRINT SUBSTRING(@String, 1, @CurrentEnd)
    SET @string = SUBSTRING(@String, @CurrentEnd+@offset, 1073741822)
    END /*End While loop*/
    GO
    To use the proc, you'd do something like this...
    DECLARE @sql VARCHAR(MAX)
    SELECT @sql = sm.definition FROM sys.sql_modules sm WHERE sm.object_id = 892230629
    EXEC dbo.LongPrint @sql

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school enviroment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
    Yosemite does not recognize HP printer after upgrade.  I can print from my iPhone, but not my 13" Macbook Air (2013)
    Are others having the same problems?
    Try this. Worked for me.
    - turn off your router
    - turn off you Mac's after removing all available printers
    - turn off all iDevices
    - do a factory reset of your printer remove all cables min. 30 sec.
    - turn on your router first
    - ran the network set up wizard
    - give your printer also a new name like "DeskJet 2015"
       Something which you don't have used before.
    - turn on your Mac's and add your printer
    - turn on your iDevices at least.
    Should work after these steps.
    It worked for me including all iDevices.
    I just had to reformat the external hard drive that houses my iPhoto library, then restore it from a backup. Now Time Machine is telling me my backup hard drive suddenly does not have the space to complete a backup. I also noticed when I go in to Time Machine, there are only about 5 backups recorded on the ext. hard drive. There were many more before. Any idea what happened and if I have to buy a new back up hard drive?
    Hallo  Kieth ,
    I am not quite ready to restore the full iphoto library , as I have days of work re - imputting titles,descriptions and enhancement . I hope that your suggestion works , as I use my Macbook basically to work with digital photography. Through time , I will need to delete my library to recover more disc space and I would hate to have to spend more time re - imputting titles and descriptions all over again .
    Thanks for your interest and advice.
    Hello audreywisc,
    Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.
    Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
    Always remember to 'de-authorize' you computer when selling or sending for service. If sending for repairs you might not get the same mother board or HD back and some how this counts as an authorized computer against your count.
