Yosemite download won't start

So I recently got this decently old 2009 macbook pro (snow leopard) in a real nice condition from my cousin.
Some apps are of course outdated so I am trying to upgrade the os to something new.
So yosemite seems like it's free and looks alright, so I backed up my files into an external hard drive which took me awhile.
But the problem is the when I click that "get" button in the app store on yosemite page, the "get" button turns grey and the download doesn't start. After it turns grey it won't let me click the button either.
Any solutions?
Thanks

  • Macbook Upgrade from 10.7.5 to Mavericks -- Download won't start

    Hi
I have a Macbook Pro 13-inch, Late 2011.  I have the stock OS Lion on it and would like to install Mavericks.  When I hit download from the App Store, it asks for my login, accepts it (no error messages), and does nothing.  Next time I hit download, It just thinks for a second then nothing.
I read some other posts about this topic but nothing helped.  I did read someone's comment regarding posting "console" screenshot to see if anyone could help out.  Hopefully this makes sense...
First time posting here. Sorry I'm a bit of a mac novice...
    Thank you!

  • Download won't start. Button keeps saying "Download".

    Hello,
I've been trying to download mavericks to my macbook pro with lion (10.7.5). However, download is not in progress. In launcpad it says "downloading" below the mavericks symbol, in the app store, on the other hand, the button on the purchases page says just "download"; not "pause" not "downloading" just "download". Clicking it,also, does nothing. I cannot see any progress or status bar. It simply does not work. What do I do? What am I doing wrong?

    Hi ...
i also have $15.36 in my apple account from using a redeemer card
The total cost of the app may include any applicable taxes and fees. Since the app  is $14.99 and you only have $15.36 credit, that's probably not enough to purchase the app and that's why you are asked for a credit or debit card so Apple can apply the difference to that account.
Information regarding taxes and fees here > iTUNES STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
You need to purchase and redeem another iTunes gift card in order to have enough funds available.

  • App Store won't start download the OS X Yosemite free upgrade

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch mid 2012. My current MacOS is OS X 10.6.8.
I didn't get to upgrade to OS X 10.9 when there was the free upgrade because I forgot to download it.
Now I want to download the OS X 10.10 but when I click the "Get" button or "Free Upgrade" button, the license agreement won't come out and the download won't start. It just stay the same even after I clicked the button.
    What should I do?

I am having the same problem. I have a 15" MBP from mid-2010 running 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
    All updates have been applied.
When I go to the App Store, locate Yosemite and click on "download", nothing happens.
As an experiment, I tried installing other free apps from the App Store - I tried Kindle and
Memory Clean. Same issue - I click on "Install" and nothing happens.
Still digging - open to advice.
    Thanks

  • If I get an app but the download does not start because of not enough storage space, will I be charged?

There is an app that Is free for limited time. I want to buy it while i can so that I don't have to pay for it when it costs money but I do not have enough storage space and the download won't start. So, now that I already got it but the download hasn't started, does that mean I will be able to get it for free using iCloud later on when it costs money?

As long as you 'buy' it now, and it remains in the store, then you will be able to re-download it for free via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPod, and the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.

Did you download the new iTunes update that was also released this afternoon? That might be the problem. The new iTunes update came out today as well as the new iOS 7 update and if you haven't downloaded the new iTunes update it may be a compatibility problem so if you didn't, first update to the new iTunes and try again.

  • Downloaded firefox 5.0.1 last night, worked fine, Turned computer on today, Mozilla Firefox, it won't start. Get error message, Error: Platform version '5.0' is not compatible with minVersion =5.0.1 maxVersion =5.0.1" What do I need to do to fix it?

We downloaded firefox 5.0.1 last night, began working with it. It did fine. After about an hour, I turned off my computer. When I turned on my computer, I click on Mozilla Firefox and it won't start. I get this error message, " Error: Platform version '5.0' is not compatible with minVersion >=5.0.1 maxVersion <=5.0.1" from XUL Runner. What do I need to do to fix it?

The updater wasn't able to update all the files and some were left as older versions.<br />
    Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
