Yosemite Driver for Canon LBP 2900

Hi there,
Now that Yosemite has been installed and working well, I am left with a non-functional Canon LBP2900.  On Mavericks, it worked well with the patch but seems it doesn't carry across to the new OS.  I have reset my printer settings and re-patched the system as per Mavericks but no joy.
Any tips? or lots of printers going into the bin!!!
Regards
Jafar

in response to Thet Aung
I finally solved the problem.
1. Delete your printer in Printers and scanners preferences.
2. Restart computer.
3. Download and install the following driver (version 3.67 has just been released for Yosemite): http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100420705.html
4. Restart computer.
5. Download and install the patch appearing at step 3 on this page: http://macdaily.me/howto/how-to-install-canon-lbp2900-on-mac-os-x-mavericks/
6. Restart computer.
7. Connect the printer with USB, add the driver in Printers and scanners preferences, select the appropriate driver.
8. Enjoy the rest of the day.
It works for me!!!

    4. Open Finder application of your Mac OS X.
    5. Select [Go] → [Go to Folder] from the menu bar.

Delete Example: You can delete files and folders by dragging them to the [Trash] icon in the Dock.

    Contents/Resources/
Delete all the following files in the folders.
    CNMCxxxAUS.ppd.gz
(xxx is a model name starting with [LBP].)

Enter the administrator's name and password, and then click [OK].
    7. Close all open windows.
    8. Restart your computer and empty the Trash Bin.
    The printer driver is uninstalled.
Next, go to the imageCLASS LBP6000 - Drivers & Software page, and then download the file CAPT Printer Driver Ver.3.67 for Mac OS X 10.5/10.6/10.7/... listed under the [Recommended for You] section.
After installing the printer, please follow the instructions below to add the printer:

  • Driver for Canon LBP-3000 printer

    to all,
i could imagine tha there would be no driver of the LBP-3000 available for mac...
i found a site, saying that there is a CAPT driver from a japanese canon's site. the problem is... the dirver fits only up to Mac OS X 10.4.4... the OS in my macbook is tiger...
    what should i do???
    thanks!

10.4.4 is Tiger. Current build is 10.4.6. Next one coming up is 10.4.7, so this driver is supported in Tiger.
    From MacOSHints:
After months of frustration of having to use Virtual PC running Windows XP in order to print to the Canon LBP 3000, I've finally discovered that Canon has indeed (albeit silently to the whole world) released a CAPT printer driver that works without the ridiculous requirement of having to have the Japanese version of OS X installed. This is not the Linux CUPS version, it is the full LBP CAPT driver made by Canon themselves. Software support: 10.2.8 thru to 10.4.4 (in English)
    http://cweb.canon.jp/drv-upd/lasershot/captusbmacx.html
    It apparently works with:
    LBP-2410 / 1210 / 1120 / 1110 / 1110, Premium / 1110SE, LBP5200 / 5000 / 3600 / 3500 / 3300 / 3210 / 3200 / 3000.
I've tested it with LBP3000 on 10.4.5 (directly and via Printer Sharing). The installer is in Japanese, and it quits all applications and requires a restart, and requires you to manually setup the printer using the System Preferences. After this mild digression, you have full printer functionality and setup options (including toner usage), all in English, and it's nice and fast.
My insanity has now gone, and I can now terminate that unnecessary relationship with Virtual PC for good!
PS: Japanese language skills are not required, just press the default button(s) when installing. If you're looking for an excellently cheap printer, I can now seriously recommend the LBP-3000.

  • Printer driver for canon LBP-1120

    Hi guys,
I'm searching for a printer driver for the Canon Lasershot LBP-1120. I've been looking around a bit on google but haven't found anything very helpful.
    Thanks.

I don't know how, and if you have to ask, you probably don't, either. Sorry.
If you still have the PC that you can use as print server, try this:

  • Canon LBP 2900 B installation on OS X Mountain

I upgraded my mac to mountain lion recently. i have canon LBP 2900 B which was previously connected now not detecting. i downloaded driver from canon uk site. still could not solved the problem. pl guide.

  • Working Canon LBP 2900 with Airport Express

    Hi,
I have read many threads on how to install the lbp 2900 on the mac even though there isn't any compatible driver. Would appreciate if someone could please re-post the step by step procedure on installing the lbp 2900 to work with the mac.
Also, would greatly appreciate if someone could assist me on HOW to get the Canon LBP 2900 to work with the AE. Is it compatible?
    Thank you very much.

First of all, no apologies needed. There is nothing wrong with asking questions on forums and I am happy to offer my experience.
I recommend that you look at getting a device that supports wireless or Ethernet. This will allow both Windows and Mac to connect to the device using the vendor provided drivers.
If you are happy to stick with Canon then I can recommend the MF4380dn (for a laser based AIO) or the MP990 (for an inkjet based model).
The MF4380dn has Ethernet standard and thus would need to connect to the Ethernet port on the Express (which may not be ideal for you as there is only one Ethernet port). But with the Ethernet connection, the UFR2 driver works fine on 10.5.8.
If you would rather use wireless, then Canon offers no laser model with wireless support. Instead you would have to look at the inkjet models and there are plenty to choose from. I have the MP980 connected via wireless and it works fine on 10.6 and 10.5 via a Netgear wireless router. The MP990 is a successor to this model and I would expect it to work just as well.
If you want to move away from Canon then I have read very good reports about Brother AIO's. Again, try and get one with wireless support as this will allow the most flexibility for your network and any future OS updates.

  • Canon LBP 2900 doesn't work under Snow Leopard 10.6.3

    Canon LBP 2900 doesn't work under 10.6.3.
    It worked under 10.5.6, 10.5.7 and 10.5.8.
The installation process is described here http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10723997#10723997
I did the same under SL but no result.
    Any suggestion?

The procedure of using the CAPT folder from a previous version of OS X was not always successful with 10.5, let alone 10.6. For those like you that did find it worked, there were many others that found the workaround did not work for them.
Version 3.05 of CAPT lists the following Canon printers as supported models.
    LBP9100Cdn
    LBP7200C series
    LBP5300
    LBP5100
    LBP5050 series
    LBP3500
    LBP3310
    LBP3300
    LBP3250
    LBP3150
    LBP3108
    LBP3100
    LBP3050
    LBP3018
    LBP3010
    LBP3000
You may have more success with trying to get this driver to work with your LPB2900. At least this version has been written for 10.6.
If this new driver does not work with the LPB2900 then another solution would be to have an old Windows XP computer connected to the LBP2900 and then use the following procedure to print to it from the Mac.

  • Problem of canon Lbp 2900 printer with my airport express

I can install canon Lbp 2900 printer connected with my airport express,  but when I print, it shows the communication error. but when I directly install the printer to my macbook through USB, everything works fine ,it can print well. Anyone can help?
and I followed the instructions below:
This is what worked for me...
The printer works with Mavericks using the new CAPT v3.65 driver available here:  http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100420705.html  and the old Mountain Lion patch which is available here:
    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7kZEfXZH5ZXOEt0R2NnNVpwdDQ/edit?usp=drive_web&p li=1
Go to System Settings / Printers and Scanners and delete your printer, then restart your computer. Install the new CAPT driver and restart your computer. Install the patch and restart your computer.
Go to System Settings / Printers and Scanners and reinstall your printer selecting Cannon LBP2900 (CAPTuk) driver from the drivers list
You should now have a working printer.
    Good Luck

In crowded WiFi situations, everything will slow down. Based on your description.....it is what it is.
I've already controlled the usage of wifi-channels around and I'm using the one with fewest users.
You want to be the only user on a channel. Even then, users on other adjacent channels in close proximity will drag down the bandwidth/speed on the entire network.

  • I can't find the yosemite driver for my epson r3000 printer.

I can't find the yosemite driver for my new epson r3000 printer. I am using 10.10.1. The Epson website says to find the driver by going to the App store and looking for updates. I did that and didn't find any.  In "Printers and Scanners" in System Preferences I notice that the computer is aware that I am connected to the printer (via USB) but a message  at the bottom of the window says that "Software for this printer isn't available from Apple. Contact the printer's manufacturer...".  What to do?

It looks as though Epson has a driver compatible with Yosemite.
