Yosemite Epson printing problem

I'm having a problem with my Epson CX 7300. It is plugged in my NetGear Ready Nas and everything was just fine on my MACs (1 Pro and 1 Air), after Yosemite upgrade, the printer stopped printinhg... I'm trying update the driver but in epson site are available just for MAC OS 10.6.X. Any news from Apple? It seems everybody has the same problem with several printers' brands. Anyone has a solution? I already tried reinstall...
this is the error message
And this is the system after a fresh printer installation
Using the epson original program manager, I got the communicate failure

Adobe blamed Epson drivers for not anticipating CS3's changes. Like they're clairvoyant or something. Their reason was that it was too hard to take into account every printer on the market when writing the new (unasked for) CS3 printing module. A feeble excuse when it comes to Epson pro machinery, though - it is the industry standard, after all.
Solution? - use CS2 for printing, authored back when Adobe wrote its software to be compatible with existing equipment and drivers, not expecting the world to fall into line with whatever it decided it would do. CS2 works flawlessly with my 7800, CS3 remains a basket case for the same reasons you mention, though checking/unchecking the fine detail box makes no difference. CS3 is erratic - sometimes it works as directed, but then out of nowhere it will suddenly decide to attenuate a pano print.
We'll see if they get it right with CS4's "improved" printing, but don't hold your breath.

  • Epson Printer problem "Epson Stylus Photo PX710W" - solved!

    Hello All,
    My system: OS 10.6.4
I am posting this in the hope that it is useful to someone. Firstly, the printer is great. However, I had a really frustrating time trying to print via Iwork, Iphoto or print off an email directly in a web browser. Each time I did this an error appeared stating there was an error with the library and it failed to print. For me, I really wanted to be able to print from, say the Apple word processing programme "Pages", or print of emails with important details etc. So I persevered and finally came to a solution!
After contacting Epson (and Apple!) a few times one Epson guy gave me the following instructions. Please note I accept no loss or damage directly or indirectly from following this advice if you have the same problem of not being able to print out emails in browsers or print from Iwork, or Iphoto, whether you choose to follow this advice or not is solely your responsibility, however this worked for me:
    EMAIL FROM THE EPSON ENGINEER
From the information you have provided, it would suggest that either a communication problem is present or the Mac is unable to display the EPSON driver in the Printer Browser.
It is recommended that all EPSON Printers are removed and re-installed and you repair the communications.
    To uninstall your printer:
    1. Make sure that the EPSON printer is connected to the Mac through a direct USB connection (not through a Hub or the Keyboard) and switched on.
    2. Make sure that the Mac is on and booted.
    3. In the Mac Hard Drive/Applications/Utilities open the Printer Set-up Utility.
    4. Remove all the references to the printer model.
    5. Disconnect the printer from the computer.
    6. We will now remove the EPSON Printer driver from the system and delete the drivers that you downloaded.
Go to the Mac Hard Drive/Library/Printer and move the complete EPSON folder to the trash. Warning this removes all EPSON Printers.
    7. Also remove any drivers that were previously downloaded to the trash if the file name does not match that from our web site.
    8. Restart the Mac.
    9. Empty the trash.
    10. Now we will run a repair utility that may take up to 30 minutes to complete so please plan for this. Go to Mac Hard Drive/Applications/Utilities and open the Disk Utility.
    11. Select Disk First Aid at the top of the dialogue box.
    12. Select the Mac Hard Drive Icon in the left hand pane.
    13. Select Repair Permissions at the bottom of the dialogue box.
    14. When this has completed restart the Mac. Power the printer on and ensure that it is directly connected to a USB port on the Mac and not via a third party device such as a USB hub.
You will now need to download the driver/s from the Epson website. Please connect to the Epson website via the link below:
    http://www.epson.co.uk/support
Type in your product in the search field and then select the correct model. Then select your operating system if this is not automatically selected. Then please click the down arrow next to drivers and downloads and download the printer driver for your printer and ensure this starts in the Download Manager. The file may be in a SIT format, which requires Stuffit Expander to expand the compressed files, if you have not installed Stuffit, it is available from:
    http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander
Please try the following to install and add the driver:
    1. Locate the downloaded file, if in a SIT format, this requires Stuffit Expander so have Stuffit running.
    2. If the file is a .DMG file, you do not require Stuffit, double-click the downloaded EPSON driver file and this will expand to reveal the dmg file and mounted drive.
    3. Double-click the blue VISE icon when presented.
    4. Follow the on screen prompts to install the driver, restarting the Mac when necessary.
    5. Once restarted the driver needs adding to the printer list. To do this please go into the hard disk, go into the folder called Applications, double click on the folder called ‘Utilities’. You should see in this window the ‘Printer Setup Utility', double click on this icon. This will present the Printer List.
    6. Delete any reference to the printer that may be on this list already as these may not be the genuine EPSON driver.
    7. Click the add icon at the top and a dialogue box will appear, this will be the Printer Browser.
    8. Next highlight the printer and then select add printer. Note: Do not choose a printer from the list of Epson printers. Your printer will not appear here, nor will the genuine Epson driver. You should be able to highlight the printer and choose 'Add'. If 'Add' is not available, leave the Printer Browser open and do not do anything else on the Mac, leave it open for about 10 minutes. When you come back to it, you should now find 'Add' available.
    9. The printer should now be added to the printer list. Test the printer by highlighting it on the Printer List and selecting 'Utility'. The EPSON Printer Utility will appear, ensure paper is loaded and select to print a 'Nozzle Check'.
If you have an All in One, then to install the scanner component, locate the downloaded EPSON Scan driver and double-click this. The files will unstuff and a window will appear with the EPSON Scan Installer. Double-click this icon to initiate the installation.
    11. Once installed, restart the Mac and the scanner should be ready to use. You can test this by going to: Applications : EPSON Scan.
If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Here was an easy-ish way which I did it:
Step 1) Install the bloated, piece of garbage Epson software so that you have a copy of the driver, or alternatively, just install the driver.
Step 2) go into your router (http://192.168.0.1, user: admin, pass: admin) and set up what's called static ID. Just figure out the MAC address of your printer and assign a unique static ID to it, ie 192.168.0.100
Step 3) go into system preferences> printers> add printer (+)> IP> Line Printer Daemon - LPD and as the address give it the static address you assigned (192.168.0.100). If you installed the driver, it should automatically detect and select it.
    VOILA!

  • Epson Printing Problem with CS3

My Epson Stylus Pro 9600 has a problem with CS3 printing. When printing large images (i.e. 36x60) a portion of the image would be missing at the bottom (blank) The 10.01 update addressed this issue but it seems not completely. The problem was attributed to using a "Custom" print resolution however I still have this problem and after much testing I have narrowed it down to the "Finest Detail" check box under the custom, advanced tab. Checking this "Finest Detail" check box reproduces the problem.
I'm not sure where the problem lies whether it be Photoshops new stripped down print code or Epsons drivers. For the mean time I will keep this feature de-selected. Hope this helps other frustrated Epson Owners.

  • Yosemite and printer problems

I have just upgraded to yosemite and now find that my kodak all in one printer won't work.  I've reinstalled the up to date software and made sure that the wifi is fine.

I found a solution that worked in this house... we had a mac that couldn't see the printer no matter what we did - another mac found the printer with no problems at all... so what we did was that we set the printer to me shared on the network, and then it popped up on the mac that elsewise couldn't see it...
Once installed as a shared printer, we shut the comuter that shared the printer - and like a miracle, the printer then showed up on the inacessable Mac...
I've done this several times after new updates, and it workes like a charm every time... so just ask friends to come over with their computers - one of them will find the printer, and the rest is easy....
Know it's a silly way around it, but if it works, it works!

  • Epson printer problem in kde

Hi! I don't know if this problem has been issued before but i'm really desperate to fix this. Installing a printer in gnome 3.x is not a problem for me, but its different in kde. I don't have any knowledge on installing it on my KDE system.
here's what i've done in my pc. Fully installed KDE packages in pacman. Cups, ghostprint, gsfonts, gutenprint, foomatics-***(all of foomatics). enabled cupsd daemon, adding lp in cupsd.conf and typing "sudo modprobe usbcore" in konsole. btw my printer is Epson ME 32 and it's not a network printer.
i hope someone can help me configure it.

  • Epson printing problems when upgraded to OSX 4.7

I am trying to use an Epson DX4850 All in One on a G5 PowerMac (not Intel) running OSX 4.7 and am totally unable to print anything. The DX will scan (so it is talking to the computer!) but it will not print. I get a No Communication prompt.
When I was running OSX 4.6 it printed 99% of the time although I did have trouble installing the Driver initially. Since upgrading to OSX 4.7 I am unable to print anything, although strangely I can scan(!?!?!)
I have reinstalled from the software disk and also downloaded the Driver from Epson and installed that to no avail. I have also used Printer Set Up to configure everything ......again!!! I was able to get around it temporarily by moving jobs to my iBook (running OSX 3.9) which printed with no problem, but that now is also refusing to print .....but again it will scan!!!
    Where to now??
Is this an issue with the OS X 4.7 upgrade and if so does anyone know if Apple are doing anything about it. Is there a way round this because as of now I have 3 computers unable to print anything and my work is suffering!!
    Thanks for your time

  • Has anyone solved an Epson printing problem?

After I upgraded to Leopard, I noticed that my printing on my Epson Stylus Photo R1800 was poor in quality to say the least. I tried all of the usual troubleshooting techniques and then emailed Epson. They directed me to a new driver, and they also said that I had to "reset" my old printer driver. I followed directions (even though their directions weren't exactly correct), and I managed to print about five decent prints, but now my printer is back to its old crappy printing, with incorrect color, banding, and no menu in the print dialog box where I can save my choice of papers & resolutions, etc. I have tried to email Espon three more times, but they are not responding to me.
    Can anyone advise?
    Thanks.

I am using two Macs -- an Imac Power PC, and a MacBook Pro (intel). Leopard has screwed up printing on both. I just went to the Epson website, and while I find a new release driver, it is labelled "Printer Driver v3.0aAs" and it says it was posted on 12/6/06!!! I have found no reference to the 6.12 driver. Also, even this supposedly new driver (Printer Driver v3.0aAs) says iot if for Intel macs, and says nothing about Power PC Macs.
Relatedly, I am interested in exactly what you are experiencing with the 1800. In my case, the Power PC IMac prints are completely wrong re color. No relationship between the screen and the print. With the MacBook Pro, I am getting an error message that the "media is not loaded properly" even though the IMac is communicating fine with the printer and there is no error message.
    Help!!!

  • Epson printer problem

Hi, I'm new to the forum, and new to lightroom. I can print with an Epson Stylus D88+ straight from iphoto on my Mac with very good results, but printing from Lightroom the results are nothing like on the screen. The colour is out, and I'm getting banding.
I assume i need to configure the two, but the printer doesn't seem to give me the option to do this. When using iphoto, the printer dialogue prompts me to enter paper type and document/photo type, but not when using Lightroom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The secret to getting good prints is through the use of printer profiles. Do you have a profile for the paper/ink you are using? In the "Print Job" section in the right panel of the Print Module, there is a small drop down menu just to the right of where it says "Profile". Click on that and select "Other". Select your printer profile. If you don't have a profile specifically for the paper/ink you are using, select one you think comes closest to describe what you are using. If that doesn't get you close, try a different profile.
You will also have to go into the printer dialog box and select "Print Settings", select the paper you are using, click on the "Advanced Settings" and select the "Print Quality" desired, and make certain "High Speed is turned off.
Then, select "Color Management" where Print Settings is and make certain "No Color Adjustment is selected..
    Hit "Print"

  • Lion Epson Printer Problems

Since installing Lion, I can't print with my two Epson Pro printers (a 4880 and a 7800).  Lion drivers for both printers have been properly installed.  Printers appear on printing list, and can be selected.  But they simply do nothing.  Trying to print out of Photoshop.
My little R280 printer works fine.

    Only Photoshop.
As of this morning, I downloaded a trial of Aperture and tried printing my Photoshop-worked files.  And with Aperture, the printer is working beautifully, with proper paper profiling and everything.  It just won't print out of Photoshop.  Very strange.  But, at least I have my workaround.  I am not very interested in preparing and editing my images in Aperture... it really is not quite as deep and artistic as Photoshop... but as long as I can print properly, I will not mind using Aperture just for printing.  Especially since color management seems spot on.

  • Mac 10.6.5 HP LaserJet 1022 printing problem persists

    Hi All,
I still couldn't get my HP 1022 prints after updating to 10.6.5 where the release said it fixes some HP printer problem connected to Airport Extreme. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4250) Mine is connected to Airport extreme too. Installed the 2.5.2 HP printer update too!!
When I print document with multiple pages, the alert LED started blinking after printer the first few pages... Sigh... I did those reset printing system procedures and restarted my Airport extreme... no dice...
Wanna ask if other HP LJ 1022 printer owner has got their problem solved or not.
    Thanks
    Bill

    Hello,
    *BUGS IN UPDATE OS-X 10.6.5*
Updating new or older Intel Mac's to snow leopard to 10.6.5 will result in problems
with several HP printers (both wired and wireless with airport express basestion).
It doesn't mather if you also update the HP-printersoftware to version 2.5.2.
    The problem exists...
After printing only one page, all the lights on the printer itself are flashing
(see also youtube video from German Apple users: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s7gZYA2Kj4)
No more than one page is printing.
And the printer won't print anymore, untill you turn it off and back on (hard reset).
    SOLUTION
Connect the HP printer (for instance the HP 1022) wired to your Apple Intel computer.
Choose the Gutenprint driver (in stead of the HP driver 1.3.0.261) when adding a (standard)
    printer in System preferences.
The printer will now work fine.
Unfortunately the Gutenprint driver won't work in combination with with wireless printing
to a HP printer with a airport express basesation.
    *EPSON printing problems*
Other printer problems are reported with professional Epson large format printers.
Several Epson drivers won't work in OS-X 10.6.4 and in 10.6.5
Not directly and not tru a RIP printing server (Windows or Mac).
The temporary solution is choosing a general post script printer driver,
in stead of the Epson driver, when adding a printer in system preferences.
    Good luck!

I have an Epson printer on a Wifi network. Windows 7 desktop is running the network, and my wife's HP Win 7 laptop prints to it just fine. My MacBook Pro running Yosemite won't detect it, and I do have the latest driver installed. I didn't have a problem when I had a Canon Pixma on the network, but when I replaced it with the Epson nothing seems to work. I go to add a printer to the queue and only the FAX function of the printer shows up - not the WS-4530 print function. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?  Please??? :-)

    Hi Kelly,
As someone who has to print from my Mac to a networked printer at home all the time, I can certainly understand how frustrating it must be to have that fail to perform as expected. Let's see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • I Cannot print from imac iPhoto 9.6 using Yosemite 10.10.1to Epson printer? How do I fix this problem?

I Updated my iMac to Yosemite 10.10.1 and cannot print from iPhoto 9.6 to my Epson picture mate PM240 photo printer. I had no problem printing before the upgrade. It seems like I don't have a connection between the iMac and Epson Printer. I checked all connections and they are correct. I visited the Epson site and there were no updates available for the PM240. The problem arises after I select a picture to print. When I select PRINT from the FILE the spinning color wheel begins and I cannot go further.
I Contacted Apple and the technical adviser ran the iPhoto troubleshooting programs within IPhoto. This seemed to solve the problem, but the problem almost immediately reocurred. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Thanks for the replies guys.  Epson put me through a complex set of instructions to install an earlier driver.  The problem was not solved.  Apple also tried to solve the provlem by getting rid of the printer, unplugging it etc and then re starting and checking computer/printer communication by printing a test page from the system preferences/Pring & Fax options.  This worked proving the the computer and printer are talking to each other.
The printer works properly as a stand alone unit.  That is, I can copy and print and scan and print with no problems.
The Apple support guy didn't suggest any Apple alternative drivers so I assume there aren't any.
Neither the Epson nor Apple assistants seemed interested in the printer generated error message.  I would have thought it would at least provide a clue to the problem to someone with technical expertise.
It seems that there are a lot of problems with the 10.6.8 update so maybe Apple will get to work and bring it up to scratch.  I hope it gets things right soon.

    Hi spiritentrep,
What Adobe software are you referring to? Are you using Acrobat? You should have no problems running Acrobat XI on Yosemite, and as along as you have compatible scanner drivers for your Epson, you should be fine there as well.
