Yosemite - Frozen after Login

After booting into Mac OS from Windows, which never gives me a problem, I login to my account and then the Dock loads, but the top toolbar doesn't, and I'm not able to click anything after this. I had to hold down power button to power down, and then I am somehow allowed to sign into the Guest Account with no trouble at all. And also am able to log back into Windows Partition which is working fine as well. Any ideas? Because this is the second time within a month that this has happened and I'm thinking the only remedy is a clean install, not just a restore from Time Machine.

Most likely, you have a web plugin that depends on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

  • Frozen After Login

I am running Tiger on my Powerbook and when I tried to log in things started normally-first the grey apple screen followed by the blue Mac OS login page-until I put in my password. The log in begins and my wallpaper is displayed followed by the Spotlight logo in the top right corner, but there things freeze. The rest of the top bar does not show up nor does anything else. The mouse works but if I put it over the Spotlight logo I get the rainbow dial telling me something is going on.
I ran Disk Utility and repaired the disk but that didn't help. I am able to boot up fine in Safe Mode but still can't get past Spotlight in regular mode. Any ideas what is going on? I had no problems before this began.

Since Safe Boot disables your log in items, I wonder if one of them is the culprit? Maybe eliminate the log in items and see if it boots up normally. If so, add back the log in items one at a time and see which one is causing the problem.
    Good luck!

I've had the same issue and despite clearing the PRAM and powering on and off repeatedly this is what has (at least temporarily) resolved my issue:
I've done this 3 times and sometimes it works right off the jump other times I've had to wait a bit and try again or power off and try again, once the start up screen is frozen hit Command : Option : Shift : Esc and a window should pop up "You restarted because of a problem..." from there you can go to your desktop. I haven't found an actual resolution to fix the problem but this does get you into your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • After installing yosemite stuck on login screen

So against my better judgement, I decided to upgrade to Yosemite. The login seemed to be going ok, then I noticed it was stock on the progress bar... once again, against my better judgement, I did a hard reboot. When my iMac rebooted, it went through the loading screen ok, and onto my user login screen. After selecting my account and putting in my PW, it is now stuck on the color wheel loading icon... nothing happens. What are my options?

    Hi there,
They DID solve it at the genius bar!
He tried a few code tricks, aka booting up using command+S, but those didn't work.  He ran a restore permissions and reinstalled Lion (without removing any of my personal data) and hey presto, it works.  I'm typing to you now on the machine.
Is that enough info for you, or would you like me to get more..? I do have to go back soon for another issue.  I just want to help the community with problems.

  • After Yosemite upgrade, iTunes login not working

    Hello everyone!
Just boght a new Macbook Air everything was flawless. I upgraded to Yosemite and iTunes login is not working. I keep getting the message "The Apple ID you entered couldn´t be found or your password is incorrect. Please Try again".
I use my apple ID across al devices (iPhone and iPad running iOS 8), use it for iCloud and App Store at the Macbook Air without issues. I have even tried to change the password in order to solve the issue, without luck.
Any ideas on to What might happen? Ihave tried to contact apple via phone but they bump me because tha kin of support is not available in Guatemala ( where I live)
    Thanks in advance

Ok, in the end I was able to solve this myself.
(thanks to tips in other discussions)
    What I did:
    1. Close iTunes
    2. Open folder C:\Users/<user name>/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/Cookies
    3. Delete the only file in that folder
    4. Open folder C:\Users/<user name>/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes
    5. Delete the two files (not folders) in that folder
    6. Re-start iTunes and run it as System Adminstrator
    7. Login works

  • Frozen and still frozen after reboot

Macbook Airs frozen and still frozen after reboot?

    Greetings Ging ging,
It seems your MacBook Air is frozen and is not responding after starting up. You may want to consider performing a PRAM reset, which may help you get your device back up and running:
OS X Yosemite: Reset your computer’s PRAM
If your Mac doesn’t seem to be remembering your speaker volume, display resolution, or the disk it should be using during startup, you may need to reset your computer’s PRAM.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.
Important:   To print these instructions, click the Share button  in the Help window, then choose Print.
Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
After resetting your computer’s PRAM, you may need to update your speaker volume, display resolution, and startup disk preferences. For more information about PRAM, see the Apple Support article About NVRAM and PRAM.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • Menu tabs disappear completely after login and appears if only i press on item node at hire level

I'm using a Menu Model to Create a Page Hierarchy in my adf application on Jdeveloper 11.1.2.3.0
it is in three levels level 1 have 2 item nods (home - Help) displayed as buttons
level 2   contains 5 item nods about the managements displayed as tabs
level 3   is about reports displayed as list
the point I have apply security in the application using Adf security wizard and i assign roles and users and grants
all works fine but level 2 tabs disappear completely after login and appears if only i press on Home item node at run time
I create 2 users (admin) has all roles  and can view all  tabs in level 2 of my navigation and another user (emp)  which can view one Tab page in level 2
Point 1 --the item nod are rendered according the #{securityContext.regionViewable['oracle.view.pageDefs.RentManagPageDef']}     (EL ) expression language
and other item nod render property are set as the same but in the page name definition
    it works fine
_ Point 2 in my page template I set #{menuInfo.rendered} for renderd property of the command navigation item
    it works fine
    - point 3 I add a  go link in my template to explicit perform log in log out from the app  and redirect the user to the required page
    Destination is
    #{securityContext.authenticated ? "/adfAuthentication?logout=true&end_url=/faces/wearhouse.jsf"  : "/adfAuthentication?success_url=/faces/company.jsf"}
    and its also works fine
the problem is in the level 2 navigation tabs which is diaper after explicit log in the app directs the user to the correct page successfully
But the tabs are not rendered till I press on home button on Level 1 navigation it appears and it appears  correctly cording the logged in user validation
in another words i log in as user (admin) i get directed to the successful log in page  in the link go but  level 2 tabs are invisible or not rendered at all    I click on Home button in level1 navigation the tabs
become rendered or viewable and i navigate normally
I log out as admin the level 2 tabs becomes invisible again
then I log in as (emp)  i get directed to the successful log in page and  level 2 tabs are still  invisible or not rendered
I click on Home button in level1 navigation the only one tab the user emp authorized to it  gets rendered (appears)
and its semi correct behavior because this is what I want him to see only
    my tries to find solution
    I tride to use
    #{securityContext.userInRole['division']}
on the menu node item   I found same behavior level 2 tabs gets hidden till i click on home link at run time
I tride to use #{securityContext.authenticated} to control item nods rending
all tabs remains visible and i dont want that ain adition if user clicks on a tab of page he has no authority on it i recive server error
I read 30.7 Creating a Login Page in the  Fusion Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework to finde about redirecting user
and it is using the same as i did from adf tutorials
I tried to make new navigation app on fast
maybe i made incorrect change in any stage of my original app
    but I found same behavior
I tried to set disabled property instead of rendered property the tabs are always rendered   but I got server error when I click on a tab which a user does not authorized
So I doubt maybe problem in the El or the way I use to control rendering item node
or there additional step to stop all  the tabs disappear after login
I hope please some one Help or tell me what i have to read about in the developer guide  or interface developer guide or article on the web
    I'll be gratfule
I know maybe it is small issue but help me please

    Hi,
have a look at the sample that comes with this article: Oracle ADF: Security for Everyone It uses resource remissions to authorize panel tabs.
One test to run is to print the outcome of the security evaluation (e.g. output text) to see what it returns.

  • Hi, I got the problem with Firefox 27.0.1. I can not run Selenium on Firefox after login a website for automation testing. The browser is not responding.

Hi, I got the problem with Firefox 27.0.1. I can not run Selenium on Firefox after login a website for automation testing. The browser is not responding. However when I close Nunit, the page is back to be normal. The title is returned to the name of website without "not responding". I sure this problem did not happen on Firefox version 26. I just got this problem when firefox upgrading automatically to version 27. Please help me fix this problem because it is very important for my work. If you need more information pls send your concerns via my email address.
    Thanks so much

Hi, the work around suggested above should put you in working mode in the meantime. However to help investigate the issue it is possible to analyze what is not loading or taking a long time by analyzing the network traffic or http headers of the Nunit web page.

  • 10.4.11 clients failing after login to 10.5.8 server

I am going crazy trying to setup our xserver this year. I had it running last year without any problems. This year, the 10.4.11 clients keep losing connection to the server after login. After login, the Home folder is there, then gone. You can see it disappear. The log reads "cannot mount /network/Servers/mac.ourdomain.edu.au/volumes/t_home/teacher error 22 (Invalid Argument)"
    Leopard clients seem fine.
I have tried everything - rebinding; reinstalling many times. I thought the path to home folders might be too long; so I made the shortname smaller to get under 89, but I've never had to do this before. Changeip returns no errors. DNS is fine - there are some errors to certain addresses "could not update - permission denied". However these machines are not losing connections. I tried a dummy set up on a different address but got no further. Can anyone post and tell me:
    1. AFP connect via : I usually use Standard to avoid Kerberos timeouts - is this the problem?
    2. Guest access: supposedly helps with Tiger clients - true?
    3. Total path to home folder - Tiger setting?
    4. Login to the server to set up sharing in Server admin using IP Address ok?
I have never had these sorts of problems. Do I just need to wipe the pre 10.5 clients? They have been set to the same IP for years so I'm wondering what I should do there. Is it DNS? I can get more log files tomorrow.
Btw, not just beginner - I have spent a fair bit of money and time on training and have had many successful set ups at school, but really struggling here. Any tips or brickbats please . . . thanks very much.

Unless things have changed, Guest Access must be on the User share on the server.
The workstation needs access to resources prior to a user actually logging in.
We use Kerberos only for our 10.4.11 and 10.5.8 clients. We also use the DHCP and DNS service on the Mac servers.
We set guest access allowed in the AFP section and in File Sharing / Protocol Options. That does not mean that you actually need to give the Guest account access, just that it must be on.

It sounds like you essentially have a new computer and unless you restored from a backup your iTunes library would be empty.  You can transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
SInce you changed syncing computers. after you move the stuff you need to restore the iPod to factory defaults and sync the stuff back to your iPod.  If you had the iPod backup file you could restore from backup.
If you have non-iTunes pruchases you can copy them to your computer by using one of the third-party programs discussed in this previous discussion:

  • Blank Screen after Login

I am having an issue with an iMac that has OS X 10.5.8 installed.
Immediately after login I get a blank wallpapered screen (wallpaper is the same as wallpaper at login) w\ cursor. ...It never goes into the desktop where there is a taskbar and desktop icons. This started happening to a couple of my desktops after I installed ESET NOD32 4.0.12 for Mac (AntiVirus).
Has anyone else seen this issue or know of a fix.

You will have to see if you can start the computer via other means,
in that if you can start in SafeBoot mode, you may be able to be rid
of that anti-virus software. That likely is the problem's main cause.
    SafeBoot mode: restart, hold Shift key, until you get log-in screen;
login to get to desktop. From here, you can do a few things, but the
computer is not running at full system usefulness. You may be able
to remove this AV software, or see if it has an Uninstaller; and also
you can repair disk permissions in Disk Utility. Among other tasks.
When done, restart normally. (You could also boot from install disc
and use the menu options to run Disk Utility, and other jobs.)
If the product did not come with an Uninstaller in its software, you
may have to try & remove it by other means. These things will put
more into the computer's OS than just an item in the Utilities or
Applications folder; so an Uninstaller is likely a necessity. There
are a few shareware and free ware uninstallers, such as AppDelete
available online as downloads. If you can't find an Uninstaller in the
software you installed (may be in the app's folder in Mac) you may
have to contact the products customer support and ask how you
are to remove the entire product and its parts from your Mac.
If you are lucky, they may actually know where you could go in and
carefully remove those bits; and luckier still, if there is an uninstaller.
    Good luck & happy computing!
