Yosemite has changed my menu font.

Yosemite has changed my font for the toolbar menu at the top of my iMac. Can I change it to something more easily legible for me?

No. The font changed from Lucida Grande to Helvetica Neue with OS X Yosemite. This was a publicized change. It looks glorious on retina machines; it's perhaps slightly less legible on non-Retina machines.
You can't change the system font, without resorting to hacks which could cause system instability.

  • Apple TV has changed main menu

    Hi,
I have an Apple TV 2nd Gen. I live in BA Argentina, and after I've updated my Apple TV the main menu has changed, now I only have as menu "Internet - Computer - Settings", can't see the rest of the menu any more (Movies - Netflix - TV Shows - Music). What can I do in order to have them back?
    Thanks for the help!
    Best regards

I saw the same thing on my ATV2 after the most recent (4.4.3) update . . . The menu was the one you described, but after a couple of minutes the menu updated itself.
I'd suggest rebooting the ATV2.  You could always try a reset to see if that helps.

  • Installing OS X Yosemite has changed my Macintosh HD type to Logical Volume Group

I have just installed OS X 10.10 Yosemite on my late 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display,
The installation has worked perfectly and my computer is now running fine. However after opening disk utility I have noticed where previously my HD would be named "Apple SSD...." and the partition underneath would be named Macintosh HD, both are now the same. Also, previously the HD was GUID type and now they have changed to Logical Volume Group and Logical Partition.
I installed the software by creating a bootable memory stick with OS X 10.10 and completed a clean install by completely erasing the HD and then installing the new software. After the HD had been erased, Disk Utility still showed the HD as "Apple SSD...." with the partition "Macintosh HD" below and with Type: GUID. It wasn't until after the installation was complete and I had set up the computer and then gone back into Disk Utility when I released it had changed to both labels being "Macintosh HD" and the format type being Logical Volume Group and Logical Partition.
I have no clue if this is normal and was a planned changed (i.e the software was designed to change it) or if my installation has gone horribly wrong. Can the HD format type be changed back or does Yosemite have to run on Logical Partition and Logical Volume Group formatted HD's.
Any help would be appreciated as I'm not an expert and I have tried googling for hours and can't find anything helpful/useful or that will work.

It's a designed change during the Yosemite install process. John Siracusa's excellent review of Yosemite over at Ars Technica provides some commentary on the change, specifically this page: http://arstechnica.com/apple/2014/10/os-x-10-10/2/

  • How do I change the menu font size in Elements 13

I just downloaded Elements 13.0.0 on my new Win8.1 computer and the menus are so tiny I cannot use them. This is the only program that does not seem to respond to the Settings on my PC. Lightroom 5.7 for example is just fine. Can someone help me?

Generally you can't and there is nothing nothing you can do about this.  These things are normally controlled by the Operating System but some programs don't use Microsoft's Software Development Kits (SDK for short) and so the settings in OS do not change anything in programs that are running on it.
Dreamweaver people have opened a campaign to make Adobe change this practice but we shall have to wait what happens.

  • Menu font sizes in fluxbox & gnome

I'm using arch 0.5, with regular updates via pacman. In fluxbox every gtk 2.0 application [firebird, gaim etc] has a tiny menu font, but this same application, when opened in gnome, looks nice, that is its menu font has an appropriate size. How can I fix this? It's annoying because every font in gaim is rendered tiny and only through preferences it is possible to change the font size of the message windows, but not the size of the input font in the editor. So most of the time I can't see what I'm typing.  I've noticed the same font size change with slackware as well.
    anamesa

OK, let's be more precise.  This method works for gaim and other gtk2 apps, but it didn't work for firebird.  Here the menus keep being tiny in fluxbox. I've searched for an option regarding fonts' size via "about:config" in addressbar of firebird, but either there is none [regarding menu] or I was blind for it.
And then, the preferred font appears rather large in gnome, that is every time I switch over to gnome, I have to edit the ~/.gtkrc-2.0, decreasing the font size. Then, when switching over to fluxbox again, I have to increase the font size to it's previous value. But not everything can be perfect, so let it be so.

The font on my internet browser and mail has changed.  How do I change it back to a standard font?

Assuming you're using Safari, with Safari running open Safari's Preferences (Preferences in the Safari menu). Go to the Appearance tab, and set the ones you want.
Assuming you're using Mail, open Mail's Preferences (Preferences in the Mail menu). Go to the Fonts & Colors tab, and set the ones you want.

  • After installing CC, The font on some websites has changed in my browser Google Chrome. Help!

After installing CC, The font on some websites has changed in my browser Google Chrome. Help!
take for example facebook & ebay, the fonts have changed to a distorted block type font, very un-readable, Only after I installed adobe CC, this took place...
    I am using google chrome
    Can any one help me?
I have tried to fix it by tinkering with some settings in google chrome but had no luck!
here is a screenshot of the problem:

Unless a web page uses a “web font” that it supplies itself, web pages typically provide a list of fonts, in priority order, of fonts to be used to render text. Typically, this list of fonts represents “system fonts” of MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android - fonts that can be counted on being installed. Helvetica Neue is a MacOS system font that is not typically found on Windows systems. And even if a user licenses recent versions of Helvetica Neue OpenType fonts and installs same on Windows systems, they are in the “Helvetica Neue Std” family which would not match “Helvetica Neue” which is native to MacOS. Thus, I suspect that the Helvetica Neue you have installed on Windows is an older font offering.
    There are three issues here:
The first is that web pages provide a priority list for font usage. I suspect that the web pages you are seeing Helvetica Neue actually used on your system are requesting fonts in the order of Helvetica Neue and then Arial. The typical MacOS system would display the content with Helvetica Neue and the typical Windows system would display the content with Arial. Since you have Helvetica Neue on your system, you are getting rendering similar to what a MacOS system would have.
The second issue is that there is no way to force a web page to reverse the order of priority of the fonts it lists.
And finally, the third issue is that there is no way to hide a font selectively by application.
The only way you can avoid Helvetica Neue being used on web pages preferring Helvetica Neue to let's say Arial or any other font on its list for particular text rendering is to uninstall Helvetica Neue.
That having been said, other than perhaps personal type design preferences, are there any other issues with regards to use of Helvetica Neue for display of these web pages?

  • Safari Font has changed on some web pages

The font on my Safari application has changed for some sites including YouTube and Yahoo. Most other sites are unaffected, including Apple's site. The font is hard to read and I cannot figure out how to get it to go back to it's "factory setting" so to speak.
I've tried going to Safari on the status bar. Then to Preferences>Appearance and changed both standard font and fixed-width font to Times at size 16. This has not solved my problem. Default encoding is "Western (Mac OS Roman)
I don't know if it is related, but I recently installed a large pack of fonts to use in Photoshop. The problem started somewhat after that.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

    Phil --
Without a uploaded photo of the garbled font,
I would suggest looking for Helvetica Fractions if
the garbled font has some numbers in it.
You may have duplicates of Helvetica, or Helvetica Neue
or Arial. The font you're talking about seems to be a sans serif,
so I would start carefully look at Helvetica and Arial (all subsets, too)
    in Font Book.

  • Mavericks After Upgrading to 10.9.2 the font size in the address/seach bar has changed to be small.

After upgrading to Mavericks 10.9.2 the text in the address/seach bar on Safari is a lot smaller.  This is not a screen resolution issue. The fonts in Finder are larger than they were before anoying fix for this would also be nice. It is also not a screen resolution issue.
I really do not know what Apple are doing with quality control with Mavericks.   The 3 month GMAIL problems have not been fixed with this upgrade and you also have a lot of font size changes accross you whole machine, within mail, finder and safari.
    Any help appreciated.

Mavericks reminds me of all the old problems I had with Windows before I moved to Mac. Prior to Mavericks upgrades would not change screen resolutions, Font sizes etc.   The GMAIL issue has not been fixed.
It is inconceivable to me that you could release this product which does not support basic mail functionality for one of the largest email services on the internet ie. GMAIL and then take 3-4 months and still not fixed with the 10.9.2 upgrade. What are you guys doing. The loss of productivity for people is beyond comprehension.
Can we please get a fix for GMAIL in Mavericks that actually works.

    Dear WD Registered Customer,
    UPDATE: November 1st, 2013
As a valued WD customer we want to make you aware of new reports of Western Digital and other external HDD products experiencing data loss when updating to Apple's OS X Mavericks (10.9). WD is urgently investigating these reports and the possible connection to the WD Drive Manager, WD Raid Manager and WD SmartWare software applications. Until the issue is understood and the cause identified, WD strongly urges our customers to uninstall these software applications before updating to OS X Mavericks (10.9), or delay upgrading. If you have already upgraded to Mavericks, WD recommends that you remove these applications and restart your computer. If you have already upgraded to Mavericks and are experiencing difficulty in accessing your external hard drive, please do not save anything to the drive, disconnect the drive from your computer, and contact Western Digital Customer Service at http://support.wd.com/country/ for further assistance.
The WD Drive Manager, WD Raid Manager, and WD SmartWare software applications are not new and have been available from WD for many years. However, solely as a precaution WD has removed these applications from our website as we investigate this issue.

  • Only my email font size has changed....it's gone smaller while everything else including ads is normal size. How do I change it back to 12 pt type?

twice in the past few weeks the font size on my email has changed smaller. The first time it went from 12 pt type to maybe 10 pt type. Last night while I was chatting on Yahoo with our daughter, it went down to maybe 2 pt type. I couldn't find a way to change it back. This morning I opened up the computer to try to work on it again and the font size was maybe 1/2 pt type. The words look like little squiggles on the page. Both my email addresses on Yahoo have reacted the same but the ads to the right of the email on the mail page remain the same size. If I open up another window, and say go to foodtv.com, everything is normal size. I have opened up Safari and gone to my email and everything is normal szie so the problem is the Mozilla. I have also called ATT and gotten help and they couldn't help as it's definitely a Mozilla problem.

I have downloaded many of my previous Keynote presentation into my new ipad mini and not ONE has opened properly
Rather defeats the purpose of icloud, synching, Keynote on IOS etc doesn't it?
    Any tips anyone?

Thanks for this Gary. Much appreciated. Will help with future ones.
Still a bit like using keynote in 'safe mode' and very limiting.
If anyone produces an 'auto convert' app that will save me the work of fixing existing presentations slide by slide, I'm buying it :-)

    Hello,
I have pre-installed on my Toshiba Portege R700 AuthenTec Truesuite version 3.0.1.149. Having in mind that my OS is Windows XP Professional, SP3, pelse be so kind and help me with a solution to revert to standard fonts.
I have deinstalled application, cleaned registries, reinstalled application from software package downloaded from Toshiba site,

Can you please tell me which language do you use?
The whole story is somehow strange. I use Toshiba notebooks almost 10 years, have installed different stuff numerous times but I never saw something like this.
