Yosemite hide contact photo in mail print

In the new mail app of Yosemite, you can hide your contact photos in the message list, but not in the actual message.
When I want to print out some emails from work, I don't want that the contact photo appears in the right corner. Even if there is no contact photo attached, it gives a grey circle with the persons initials. It just doesn't look professional on a printed email.
Is there a way around this?
here's an example:

When I send an email using Mail, my contact photo shows up in the header.  I have looked for the command in preferences to turn it off but cannot find such a command.  I cannot delete the photo in Contacts because I guess Contacts sees me as the User?  I do not want my recipients to see this picture.  How can I turn it off.  When I send me an email, I see my photo.  I use OS 10.7.4

Very glad to help.  That drove me nuts in the beginning, too.

I'm using a 16GB iPhone 4S, with the latest version of iOS 8.1.1. Whenever I go to the "Cellular" settings on the main settings page and turn OFF cellular data usage for native apps like mail, app store, contacts, photos etc , the moment I back out and come back in, all the native apps I turned cellular off for are back on again. Kindly help me

Exact same question as ankit1986, specifically with the photos while on cellular-only, and as simple as it sounds, I tried the hard reboot Ingo2711 suggested.  Still experiencing the same error with the native apps reverting to on.  It's killing our shared data-plan (2GB).

  • Why don't my Facebook friends' contact photos show up in Mail?

I have my Facebook account integrated with Mountain Lion, which is working great, including the synchronizing of contact photos. When I open my contacts in the Contacts app, their Facebook profile picture appears in their contact card, which is great. But in Mail, they never show up. I can click on the contact in Mail and click "Show Contact Card" and I can see their Facebook profile picture with the little "f" icon in the corner. But it won't show up in the message, or in the list of messages. Instead it just shows the default "grey silhouette man" picture. Is there something special that I have to do to show my Facebook photos in Mail?

Thanks for your prompt and courteous response. If you observe the page at    https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
you will see links as follows: Creative Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Downloading Installing Setting Up, Flash Player, Acrobat, Reader, Photoshop, Photoshop Lightroom, Photoshop Elements, Dreamweaver, Edge Animate, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Indesign, and Muse. I posted my question in the Creative Cloud forum because it is the only one of those categories that includes either of the products I'm asking about. If there is a more appropriate place to ask, a link would be most appreciated.

    Shannmo-
The HP PhotoSmart 5514 is on Apple's list of AirPrint printers, so it should work.  <iOS: AirPrint 101>
One problem might be that your WiFi router does not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.  Contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change to its setup or a firmware update that will solve the problem.
I had a printing problem several months ago, where the WiFi had jumped to a neighbor's WiFi that happened to have the same name.  There are a LOT of WiFi routers out there named "Linksys"!

  • In OS Yosemite the search function in Mail, Finder, Spotlight- does not work

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
    2,6 GHz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
    OS Yosemite,
    Finder versión 10.10.1
    Mail Versión 8.1 (1993)
In OS Yosemite the search function in Mail, Finder, Spotlight… does not work. Messages or documents with the search criteria are there and one could find them manually, but the search function fails to find them. Following advice from Apple Support (728965377):
    1. I applied an Apple protocol for adware removal (Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac); I had none, because I had formally utilized a similar protocol that I had found in Internet, actually an app that implemented automatically Apple's adware removal protocol.
    2. I rebuild the post boxes in Mail (Mail (Yosemite): Reconstruir buzones); It took a while but it functioned properly
    3. I re-install the System (OS X Yosemite: Reinstalar OS X); It took about 4 hours but there was no problem whatsoever with the installation.
Afterwards I searched for messages in Mail, and documents in Finder and Spotlight, without any difficulty. The search function in all of them was working properly. But the next time that I needed to search messages or documents, an hour later or so, the problem reappear and a couple of new issues occurred:
    1. in app RagTime 6.5.2 (Build 1821), www.ragtime.de, the menu bar disappears (it is invisible), when one performs certain operations, e. g., calculating a value with a formula, whether it is in a spreadsheet or some other component (text, drawing, etc.). After touching with the cursor the menu bar is visible again.
    2. after reading an e-mail in Mail or copying an address, this is seeing as a floating object in the finder and over every application. There is no logical way to get rid of the floating object and neither copying or deleting or cutting it. It is not a big issue but nonetheless bothersome.
    3. In Mail, messages with Flag or in VIP contacts cannot be seen in the appropriate folders, only in the Incoming mail folder, together with other messages. It seems to me, this issue is part of same search function problem.
    4. The preview function within Mail does not show the attached documents to a message, whether it is in the IN, OUT or Draft boxes.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try again to re-index Spotlight. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

  • Why does a 4x6 photo try to print in 81/2 x 11?

    HP Deskjet F4580 (wireless)
    Windows 7 64-bit
upgraded from HP Photosmart Essentials 3.5?  to HP Photo Creations
When I tried to print a 4"x6" photo, it looked like HP Photo Creations was trying to print on an 81/2" x 11" sheet of paper.  I tried it twice, then went to Windows Live Photo Gallery to print the picture.  HP Photo Creations is the easiest, but the worst program I've ever tried to use.
    This question was solved.

    Hi JJC.
Did you have "best fit full page" selected in the print window? That will resize your image to fit the selected paper. In the example below, we used the best-fit feature to print a 5 x 7 design on a 5 x 6.5-inch card.

  • How do I make a contact photo full screen when receiving a call

I know this feature went away in iOS 7.1 and turned into the small round bubbles but it appears to have returned in iOS 8 and Apple is advertising it on their site in the Yosemite pictures. Does anyone know how to make my contact photos full screen again?
    Scroll down to Continuity: http://www.apple.com/osx/

There isn't a setting but there is a trick (at least on earlier iPhones but I suspect the 6 as well). For the photo to be full screen it must be a photo taken on the iPhone and still resident there. If you import the photo to a computer, delete it from the phone and then sync it back via iTunes, it will not display full screen. If the photo was taken on a previously owned iPhone and transferred to your new 6, it will not display full screen. If it is any consolation, I think the circular pictures are better when placing a call as the full screen ones aren't very visible behind the outgoing call screen, at least with my settings.

  • Contact Photos in iPad and iPhone but not on Outlook 2011

    Hi,
If I create a contact on my my iPhone or iPad the contact photos are seen in either device but cannot be seen in Outlook 2011 or in the Contacts app (v9) of my mac.
The opposite is also true: if I create the contact in my computer (Outlook 2011 or Contacts v9), the photos show up only in Outlook or in Contacts v9 but not on my iPhone or iPad. Contact info is OK in all 4 places.
The contacts are stored in an Exchange server (don't want to use iCloud at this point).
I'm running IOS 8 on an iPhone 5 and iPad mini. Yosemite runs on a MacBook Air.
Any idea how can can I fix this?
    Thanks.

You could also try to remove folder ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub-shared/  to the Desktop.
This folder is the local copy of the photos in the shared Photo Streams on the Mac from the user library.
The user library is hidden by default. To open the hidden User Library:
    Use the Finder's "Go" menu.
Click "Go", then hold down the options key, until you are seeing "Library" in the drop down menu appear and click it.
In the Finder window that will open navigate to the folder ~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub-shared/.
Remove the folder and restart the Mac.   It will take some time, until the folder will populate again. Don't delete the copy you removed, just in case.

Does you friend use any accented letters in the descriptions?  That might cause it but I don't know for sure.
Has he run any repair operations on his library, i.e. repairing the database file? Another possible fixe that's easy to apply is the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
        Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache folder(s):
    Home/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
and, if there is one, the
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For  Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
The demo version of GraphicConverter can be used to view/check/edit the ITPC fields in an image file after exporting.

Yes, you can. Is "Mac OS X (10.7)"  still your current system?
