Yosemite installation won't recognise Apple ID and password
I am trying to install Yosemite on my iMac which appears to have been successful until my AQpple ID and password was required. The system is locked up after sending an email with my sign-in information to reset my password. I have had to go onto my MacBook Pro running Maverick to sign into Apple Support Communities with the same Apple ID and password used on the iMac. I also checked the accuracy of my Apple ID and password by successfully logging into my iTunes account. My MacBook Pro also completely locked up when trying to install Yosemite and after two Genius Bar appointments failed to overcome the problem. Although the hard-drive checked out on test, both technicians suggested replacing the hard drive as a solution. After much fiddling, I managed to get back to Maverick operating system, which is still operating faultlessly and the computer used to access this forum. The email that was supposedly sent to me has not been received at my Mail account, even though my aApple ID is my registered email address with Apple. Any thoughts on how to overcome this situation.

Unfortunately, screen was locked on "email sent to reset password", so in total frustration, turned iMac off and restarted to find Yosemite installed and ready to go without Apple ID or password required. I did not notice a skip option but it is now obvious that an Apple ID and password was not required to install. I am still mystified as to why, even when the correct password and Apple ID was entered, it was rejected. Most annoying having to reset password when not necessary. But everything from Maverick seems to be working OK.
I'm yet to retry installing Yosemite on my MacBook Pro, fearing the disasters and frustration at two Apple Genius(?????) Bars last month. But I will take your advice and do two back-ups (I only did one with the iMac and that was to Time Machine) before trying again. What is your reason for the second back-up and are you suggesting a different external drive to that used for Time Machine? Just as a precaution? Thanks again for your help.

there might be something different on the mac you can try appleid.apple.com and reset your password i would also check the mac to see which appleid is signed you may have multiple apple ids and not know

ATV won't accept Apple ID and Password
My ATV has been working just fine since March and I like it very much.
However, I got back from holiday and found that it won't connect to the Apple iTunes Store, won't check for new software versions, and when I tell it to check for downloads it says that my Apple ID and Password are invalid.
When I re-enter them, it continues to say they are invalid. However, they work just fine if I enter them through iTunes.
Anyone else see this problem and know a fix ??

Message was edited by: Baron15Haven't actually rebooted those for ages - several months - and the Apple TV seems to work in all other respects e.g. syncs with iTunes OK, I can play movies and music, and so on. Just the features needing Apple ID / Password that will not work - renting/purchasing direct from ATV, software updates, and so on. The message I get from the ATV is "Unable to Sign In. The Apple ID you entered could not be found or the password was incorrect." and of course this Apple ID and password works just fine directly through ITunes.
Having said that, it can't hurt to try rebooting the router/wifi gear, so I'll let you know if this fixes it.

OSX internet recovery won't take apple id and password
Hi, I had a virus on my old mac, pre- mountain lion, so I backed it up on an external harddrive, placed it in recovery mode, erased mac HD with disk utility, and tried to download the only option which is Install Mac OS X Lion. However, when asked for my apple id and password it will not take it. It says it was not the one used with that computer. I have always used the same apple id and I have been the only owner of that mac pro. How do I install the OS or find the correct apple id and pw?
So your early-2011 would have come pre-installed with OS X Snow Leopard. And it appears you were trying to do an Internet Recovery by restarting using Command+Option+R. And for your model Internet Recovery only shows OS X Lion as the OS to install. If you would have had a Mac that came pre-installed with OS X Mountain Lion, then you would see that OS to install.
When OS X Lion came out, did you purchase it from the App Store with the Apple ID you mentioned?
If you have never purchased OS X Lion, you will need to reinstall OS X Snow Leopard from your original SL DVD and update it to 10.6.8 in order to redownload/install OS X Mountain Lion if you purchased ML from the App Store. -

If you are having issues setting up your new Apple TV with your Apple ID, you may want to double check that the info is current and correct by logging into "Manage my Apple ID" as outlined on this page:

If everything is confirmed as correct and working but your Apple TV still won't accept your Apple ID, you may want to try restoring it to factory settings:

It connects to internet fine. I have tried restoring back to factory condition and hard wire update by connecting it to my Mac mini .
The date and time won't set. And won't acknowledge my Apple ID and password......... I am usually tech savy but this has caused me grief .
Do I need to downgrade my update....
But can't get any menus until I log in my apple account...
It can't log into my iTunes account until time and date have been set.
When I did the hard wire restore connected to Mac mini it wouldn't go past the date and time screen as it wouldn't when I did the wifi update too.
it just would get past that screen.
Anyone help!!This is the result of a network issue. Ensure port 123 on the router is open.

Netflix is also don't let me play any movies.
I already reset the equipment, network is ok because some features of of apple tv are working fine such as renting from Itunes, Radio, Podcasts.

I've tried everything beyond my knowledge to get this thing working,I'm using the latest itunes and a brand new 1080p Apple TV over a Linksys E4200 V2 network and having same issues. Just replaced my old apple TV with this new one yesterday.
I got it to work for a little while yesterday by uninstalling Itunes the reinstalling but how many times do you have to do that?
I can send pictures and video to Apple TV from my IPhone etc but not a chance with home sharing. Apple TV says turn home sharing on which it is.

I have been into setting>store and signed out and signed back in and it still asks for old ID and password.Everything you've had up to now has been tied to your old Apple ID. You cannot switch it over to a new Apple ID. You should contact iTunes support to help you with this:

Office requies a MS serial number, not your Apple ID. Are you attempting to install the Office 360 pay as you go version?

– Have iOS 5 installed on your iPad 2
– Make sure your Apple TV software is up-to-date. You can check for updates on the Apple TV by going to Settings > General > Update Software.
– Have your TV turned with Apple TV active and showing.
– Double-tap the home button on the iPad to bring up the Multitasking Bar.
– Swipe to move to the left of the Multitasking Bar, so you can see the set of controls just to the left of the volume adjustment slider.
– The button just to the right of the Fast Forward button – the one that has a rectangle with a solid, upward-facing arrow in it – is the AirPlay button. Tap to switch from iPad to Apple TV.
– Once you do that you’ll see the Mirroring section appear just below the entry for Apple TV. Just tap to turn that On, and the iPad 2 will immediately begin mirroring to your TV screen. -
