Yosemite 10.10 causes some problems on my mid 2012 Mac Book Pro. Can I downgrade back to the previous OS?

There's a strange bookmark "(no title)" with no icon in my Bookmarks Toolbar folder and I can't seem to get rid of it, plus it causes some problems.

This "bookmark" can't be deleted nor I can choose the option "Forget About This Site" or anything else. It just won't disappear. Furthermore, when this bookmark is placed in a section (separated by separator) with other bookmarks, it causes them not to be shown in the Bookmarks Toolbar, so I have to place it in a section where there are no other bookmarks but this one, still I can't get rid of it nor know I got did it get there. I tried running Firefox in safe mode and whatnot but nothing seems to work. Please help me out.

I should have figured that out from your original post. I think there is a possibility that your bookmarks/history database (places.sqlite) has a corrupted record. Rather than take drastic action on that immediately, could you do a test? The test is to exit Firefox, rename your existing database, and restart Firefox. Firefox should import your last bookmarks backup. You then could check whether the problem remains or whether you got a clean restore of bookmarks. After the test, assuming you prefer to retain your history, you could undo the procedure and try restoring your bookmark backup into the database to see whether that overwrites the problem record. If not, then we would go back to possible drastic action.

Can simulatneous insert cause some problem in Oracle databse

Two queries update A DB simultaneously.
1st query adds 1000 rows to table A.
2nd query adds 50 rows to table B.
what can be the problem with such an update?
how can this be rectified?

Some confusion regarding your statements:
Two queries update A DB simultaneously.Here you are indicating UPDATE operation on the database.
1st query adds 1000 rows to table A.
2nd query adds 50 rows to table B.Here you are indicating INSERT operation on the database.
Unless there is a dependancy between table A and B (referentials, triggers), I donot see any problem with a scenario.
If there is a dependency between table A and B (like A being parent of B or vice versa), depending on the time of record insertion, either of the transactions may fail with parent keys not found error.
Can you post more details about the problem that you are facing?

RequestDispatcher.include causing some problem in Weblogic 9.1?

I am migrating my application from web7.1. to 9.1.
 In some servlets, i am using the RequestDispatcher.include method to paste a relevant JSP content.
 When I access the servlets parameters values only after the requestDispatcherObject.include(req,res), the parameter values are returned as null.
 For eg.
 consider 2 parameter values , status,mode are present in a servlet, project.java.
 I am including project.jsp file inside this servlet.
 When I access the parameters only after the include statement, the values are returned as null, but when i access any one parameters before this statement, both the original parameter values are retained.
 i.e.
 /Project?status=disp&mode=true
 Inside doGet method of Project .java:

I tried reproducing this, and I don't observe the same behavior. I get the same values (those specified in the URL) regardless of whether I retrieve them before or after the include (or mixed as in your example).
 There is only one way I can think this might happen. If you are using HTTP POST and using getInputStream() or getReader() to read the body of the request, you could affect things. This is mentioned in the servlet spec. This would fit with your behavior. If your servlet reads a parameter, WLS will parse the all the parameters and they stay read-only (you can't set parameters, only attributes). WLS will only parse on demand for performance reasons (no point if one isn't requested). Nothing the included page can do will affect the parameters, so you'd see both be set. If the servlet includes the JSP first and the JSP calls getInputStream() and reads all the data, then when the servlet gets a parameter and WLS attempts to parse the POST body, there is no data left to be read (because the JSP already read it). Thus, everything will be null.
 But, in your example, it appears you are using GET. It shouldn't be possible if the parameters are set as part of the URL. And indeed, I don't see it.
 Perhaps your example is a simplification? What is your include doing?

HT4623 Downloading iOS 7.0.2 has caused some problems

My partner downloaded and installed iOS 7.0.2 onto his iphone5, now if he double-clicks on the button to highlight all the apps running in the background, they do not have a subtract for him to close them, so he has limited battery life. Can you help please, I don't want to download it onto mine if I am going to have the same problem. Thankyou

Latest update to autojump causes some problems

After updating autojump today (1), zsh complains that "autojump.zsh" cannot be found, the "j" command seems to have disappeared from my system, and the "autojump" program no longer cd's into directories.
I searched my disk for "autojump.zsh", but found that it had disappeared. So I'm sourcing "/usr/etc/profile.d/autojump.sh" in my .zshrc as an alternative. I also aliased "j" to "autojump". This makes the errors go away, but when I run "j <foo>", autojump merely prints out the name of the directory it should cd to instead of actually cd'ing there.
Any tips :-)?

I have same issue with bash.
AFAIK autojump is enabled by sourcing /usr/etc/profile.d/autojump.sh - this script then tries to source:
~/.autojump/etc/profile.d/autojump.bash or /etc/profile.d/autojump.bash
or if you use zsh:
~/.autojump/etc/profile.d/autojump.zsh or /etc/profile.d/autojump.zsh
On my pc the .bash file autojump is looking for is in: /usr/etc/profile.d/autojump.bash
So I think that either "/usr" should be added to paths in /usr/etc/profile.d/autojump.sh, or autojump's files should be moved from /usr/etc/profile.d/ to /etc/profile.d/.
The second option seems much more likely for me, because only files I have in /usr/etc/ are autojump's files - it probably is a bug.

Apple TV remote causing macbook problems

Hey so my girlfriend picked me up an Apple TV, this is amazing, BUT the stupid remote is what is causing some problems. Every time i use it for the apple TV, it affects my mac itunes as well. Ive gone into the security and disabled the inferred thing, but then that stops the syncing from the apple TV to my macbook pro.
Question: Is there anyway i can totally block the remote from working with my macbook, while still allowing the Apple TV to sync, or is there a way to pair the Apple TV to my mac, not to iTunes, ive done that already.

What you need to do is pair the laptop remote with the laptop.
By pairing the Apple tv remote with the Apple tv you are ensuring that the Apple tv can only be used with the Apple tv remote, you are not ensuring that the Apple tv remote won't control other devices as well.
laptop remote paired with the laptop = the laptop can only be controlled with the laptop remote.

Yosemite causes font problem in Chrome

Does ANYBODY know how to get fonts to display correctly in Chrome since the update to Yosemite? I so regret doing the update because all my Helvetica displays as an A inside a square. I have searched in all friggin forums about this and nobody has a solution that works. Please holler if you are a superstar and have a solution.

No, as you're then just patching a recurring issue every day. Something is causing the problem.
When clearing the caches initially works and then comes back, it's probably either corrupt fonts, or third party fonts you've installed that conflict with some of the newly installed system fonts.
Since you just recently installed Yosemite, it's a pretty good bet the OS X supplied fonts are not the issue. That leaves third party fonts you've installed. Create a new folder on the desktop. With Finder showing as the active app at the upper left next to the Apple logo, hold the Option key and choose Go > Library from the menu bar. This open the Library folder in your user account. Open the Fonts folder. If there are any fonts in that folder, move all of them to the new folder you created on the desktop.
Next, launch Font Book. With FB in the foreground, choose the option on the menu bar to Restore Standard Fonts. This will move any third party fonts in the root /Library/Fonts/ folder to a new folder right next to it named Fonts (Removed). The only ones remaining will be those installed by OS X. It will also perform this move to the /System/Library/Fonts/ folder. All that will be left as active fonts in the three main Library folders after that (system, root library, user account) will be those installed by Yosemite.
Font Book is not a happy camper when fonts are manually removed. It will almost always corrupt its database. So the last steps are to clear Font Book's database, and once again, clear all font cache files from the system.
1. Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point. Yosemite is a bit different. Whether it's a Safe Mode boot or a normal one, you get the same progress bar. It just takes longer to get to the desktop in Safe Mode. So hold the Shift key until you get to the desktop.
OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.
2. Since the system font cache files are not cleared by a Safe Mode startup, repeat the steps you performed above:
Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current logged in user account. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.
That should stop any issues with fonts being displayed incorrectly in all apps. After that, you need to determine which of the third party fonts you have are causing the problem. Use either the Fonts folder in your user account, or create a new folder in the root /Library/Fonts/ folder. You could just name it "test". Drop about 10 fonts into your new folder, or the initially empty user account Fonts folder, at a time. Use the system for a while and see if the problem returns. Keep adding fonts a handful at a time. When the problem reappears, you'll know at least one of the fonts you just reactivated is bad. Pull those back out and once again follow the two steps above. Keep whittling down your third party fonts by means of elimination until you've clearly identified the culprit(s) and delete those fonts.

Thanks for the input. I was finally able to find some test conditions that duplicated the problem, and it is either that or some other out-of-spec diffraction distortion. So I sent it off for repair.

Printing Color Chart (LR3.2) causes some patch color problems !

Printing Color Chart with Lightroom 3.2 causes problems with some Patches Color !
Color is not uniform, highlighted in the surround for some blue and green patches.
Printing the same chart in Photoshop CS5 causes no problem at all !
Configuration:
New installation (15 days).
Windows 7 Pro (French language), 64 bit.
i7-760 on P7h55 with 6Gb of RAM.
Lightroom 3.2 (French language).
Photoshop CS5 (English language), tested with and without new update.
Canon Selphy CP800 with latest driver.
Any idea ?!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Upgraded to 5.5 last week and now having some problems...

Did a quick search for issues folks had when upgrading to 5.5, and didn't see mine in there anywhere. Unfortunately when 5.5 came out is when I was MIA on these boards, so I've missed a lot, and if these questions have already been addressed, I apologize...
Last week I upgraded from 5.0.3 to 5.5, ran all the updates (now at 5.5.2), and was told on launch that my graphics card (GTX-285) wasn't recognized, and that CUDA would be disabled (It had worked perfectly in 5.0.3). I did a quick driver update (version 8.17.12.7533 is what Windows update found) and all was well... CUDA was back in play.
This morning I ran my first video project since the upgrade, and found everything worked as normal... until the export. I have just a basic 12 minute 720p30 timeline (choose an XDCAM-EX preset since that's what I most commonly work in) filled with still images (60frame duration, automated to the timeline, with 10frame cross-dissolves) and a music bed--it's a slideshow of our 2012 runs at the local fire department where I work part time. I choose the Vimeo HD export under H.264 since I've found that gives me the cleanest picture with a decently small file size (orginal images totalled 1.5GB). I ran the export twice--once in HD and once in SD, since some of the guys don't have computers that can handle the HD stream. Everything seemed to go fine. I tried playing back the HD file just to verify that it was okay since I would be showing it at our Christmas dinner tonight, and found that after the opening two title slides, the pictures were a complete mess. Most of the time it didn't show them at all, and when it did it didn't show them properly. So I checked the SD version, and it had exactly the same issue. Music on both tracks played along just fine, however. I tested both files in four media players (Nero, Quicktime, Windows, and Chrome) and all four (on two computers) showed the same issues.
I had worked the project with EVERYTHING (project file, stills, music, etc.) sitting on my desktop, which I know is a no-no. So I moved the stills and music to my data array, moved the project to my export disc (my project array is down right now, pending a new disk arriving tomorrow) and then tried again doing the Vimeo HD export. This time I got about 60 seconds into the export process and got thrown an error from the NVIDIA OpenGL driver saying "Your hardware configuration does not meet the minimum specifications needed to run the application. The application must close. Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/page/support.html for help. Error code: 7." I hit "OK" and ultimately had to reboot the computer before I could get Premiere to open again.
I reopened the project, turned CUDA off, and redid the Vimeo HD export after rendering my timeline, and the finished product (which took 65 minutes to export instead of the original 14) looks perfect.
Just for kicks I tried it again just now with CUDA back on, and got the same error.
Anybody know what's going on?

Hmm... Ok, so I took that project and tried importing it to a new project, still with no luck. Then I tried taking that project and creating a new timeline by dragging one of the stills to the new item icon so that I'd get whatever PrPro decided was the best timeline, and still no luck. Then I tried creating a new project and importing different footage and it worked. Tells me perhaps there's something wrong with the stills? I know not to use overly-large stills in a project, but they're all around 4k resolution or smaller... so surely that's not too big, right? 412 stills total 1.5GB which means an average of about 2.5 MB per file... certainly not too big. I even had a couple video clips in the timeline that were shot with a point-and-shoot still camera, and I tried taking those out just in case it was something in those, and still no success.
So, ultimately this project got exported without CUDA, and I'm okay... but I also am wondering what caused the problem? I do a fair amount with stills (not a lot, but enough) and I need it to work... do I just go on with life, assuming that it was some weird fluke? Or do I try a complete wipe and reinstall of OS and Programs?
Oh, one other tidbit... whenever PrPro crashed and closed, the application itself wouldn't close. I have to go into the program manager and force quit it...
Thoughts? Recommendations?
