Yosemite issues

I'm having multiple problems with Muse that may be Yosemite related, as it's normally very stable. Simply copying from one page to another, and saving the file will crash it, or copying a button with a background image and then trying to replace that background image will crash it. However, now, even after recovering the file, it will no longer save it, but instead gives me the error message. I have to go back to an earlier saved version and start over.

Very unlikely to be Yosemite related. Please send us the .muse file and the MuseLog.txt file from your Documents for to [email protected] along with a link to this thread for context. It would also be helpful to know exactly which object's background image was being replaced when the crash occurred. If the file is larger than 20Mb you can use a service like Adobe SendNow, Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc. (If you use a service, please be certain to include your return e-mail address in the body of the message, since not all services include it in the sharing invite they send.) Thanks.

  • I can't hear iTunes music or internet radio but internal and external speakers are definitely working. Is there a key stroke I have set or some other, maybe Yosemite, issue?

I have checked my internal speakers on an iMac and also the external speakers - all working. When play music in iTunes the sound bar moves but no sound is heard.  Same problem if I want to listen to the radio via internet.  Has anyone a suggestion.  Is it a Yosemite issue - I have had others involving printers. thanks

like davis says then even though I have connected headset and external speakers to my imac then at boot up the boot sound comes out of the imac speaker
but once booted into OS X all audio is played out of the headset and ext speakers and the imac speakers are silent as the grave

  • Yosemite Issues on Macbook Pro mid 2009

I have a macbook pro with a 2.8 Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB of Memory. I have more than enough HD space. Ever since I upgraded to Yosemite, I have been having issues with running my mac. It runs super slow, every program takes 5 minutes to open. If I open iTunes and iPhoto, I might as well walk away and come back later.
This issue only started happening with Yosemite. Is my system to old to handle it? Do I need to upgrade or what can I do. I'm a web designer and user Photoshop and all of the adobe programs a lot. I can't sit and wait 10 minutes to open a program, please help.
    Thanks,
    Francisco

Hey, I do not have the exact same problem but trying to update to 10.9.2 causes my macbook to be stucked in black screen + curser after boot up. I have looked through forums for an answer but nothing worked for me (such as reboot, reset NVRAM, disk verification, disk/permission repair,  password entry, control-option-command+8, fresh osx 10.9.2 install). To be sure that my disk is properly working, I have installed the original snow leopard os, this worked fine. I also could access the recovery console.
To be able to use my mac I have now restored to 10.9.1 from my TM backup. Dont know if I should report this strange behaviour to Apple. Maybe there are others who have discovered the same issue?
    Let me know pls.
    cheers.

  • Logic Pro X and Yosemite issues

It seems I have some very basic issues with Logic Pro X 10.0.7 after upgrading to Yosemite OS on my MacBook Air:
    1. Zooming the main window by swiping two fingers apart or together on the mouse pad does not work anymore.
    2. Adjusting the length of audio regions in the main window does not work anymore. It works as usual on midi tracks, but when I hover the end of an audio region the brackets just do not appear. I have now used automation to silence the bit that I wanted to shorten, but that is more of a hassle.
I have tried restarting Logic Pro X, restarting the MacBook and looked for any settings that may have been changed, but to no avail.
Do these issues sound familiar to anyone? Any thought on how to fix?

    1) Zooming
the zooming with the swipe gesture was always problematic, but it is now only happening in the Audio FIles Editor and to some extend in the Score Editor. All the other windows work fine on my machine.
    2) Resize Tool
Works fine without a problem in the Main Window and the Editor windows. Of course, you can resize in the Audio FIles Editor.
    Hope that helps

  • Yosemite issues on Retina MacBook Pro

I have some issues on my rMBP:
    1. The user picture on startup screen is zoomed in like it is not ~@2x
    2. When entering my profile it looks like Yosemite changes the resolution of my screen
    3. Sometimes Finder stops working, the file and folders names are shown as black rectangles and not clickable. Only restating Finder fixes the issue

Hi, thanks for the info, I followed the steps with no luck (by the way fixed my WIFI problems!! )
    Finally I got the solution:
System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Reduce Transparency.
After that, the GUI is as fast as before.
    Hope this help
(And I'm very sad my 2 years old rMBP fell so old..)

  • Acrobat X and Yosemite Issues

I have been using acrobat 10 and OS Mavericks to manage my office documents using a Fujitsu scanner. After I upgraded to OS Yosemite, I have been unable to print any of the documents that I have scanned. The image of the doc will show up on the print window, but all I get is a blank page. My print drivers are up to date and I have even tried a different brand of printer with the same results. I had coworker scan a doc and email it to me (windows machine) and I can print with no problems. I can also scan an image as a jpeg and print. Troubleshooting with Apple did not solve the issue. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you in advance

  • Time Capsule/Machine or Yosemite Issues

    Hi,
I am really struggling with my system, 10.2.  Not sure whether it is OS X or time capsule, although both have been reset, reformatted, OS X reinstalled as backup and as fresh install with only putting back applications and documents.  But my system is still playing up.  Any suggestions?
My symptoms are, time machine backups occur regular to time capsule then after sometime they just stop running.  I have not seen a valid error message.  I reboot the mac and it struggles to shutdown, often black screen with the rotating circle.  I have reset PRAM/SMC/NCRAM, I have tried so many things with little success.
I have the time machine widget which says the message below, although the preference panel said that it was looking for the disk, not that it was preparing or anything.  So I cancelled it.

Just set a manual backup and it has been sitting on preparing for a while.  At the end of my tether to say the least.

The error I see is that the drive was NOT dismounted at the end of the previously successful backup.
So the next attempt at backup sees the drive as busy with the last backup.. to break this cycle has been an issue since Lion.. !!
The fix is simple .. reboot the TC. Once a week that is ok.
Not particularly helpful though if it happens several times a day.
This is just poor programming from Apple and poor bug fixes ever since.. not treating these issues as serious.
Both Time Machine and Networking in the latest Yosemite are simply poor.
I recommend you jump out. Accept the inevitable and use either a local external drive as a TM target.. so you get away from the network issues.
Or buy Carbon Copy Cloner (or other 3rd party backup) and use that.. to get away from the TM bugs.. you can even combine them and use CCC on an external drive.. but you will need to explore what works for you.
This is my list of details of getting past the networking issues with Yosemite.. but TM may still have issues. And I cannot fix those.
    Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
    Setup the TC again.
ie Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the hard disk doing this.
Then redo the setup from the computer with Yosemite.
    1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. No spaces and pure alphanumerics.
eg TCgen5 and TCwifi for basestation and wireless respectively.
Even better if the issue is more wireless use TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense. But this can be tried in the second round.
    2. Use all passwords that also comply but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
    3. Ensure the TC always takes the same IP address.. you will need to do this on the main router using dhcp reservation.. or a bit more complex setup using static IP in the TC. But this is important.. having IP drift all over the place when Yosemite cannot remember its own name for 5 min after a reboot makes for poor networking. If the TC is main router it will not be an issue.
    4. Check your share name on the computer is not changing.. make sure it also complies with the above.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. but this change will mess up your TM backup.. so be prepared to do a new full backup. Sorry.. keep this one for second round if you want to avoid a new backup.
    5. Mount the TC disk in the computer manually.
In Finder, Go, Connect to server from the top menu,
Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever the TC ip is which you have now made static. As a router by default it is 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with that unless you know what you are doing).
You can use name.. SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your TC name.. local is the default domain of the TC and doesn't change.
However names are not so easy as IP address.. nor as reliable. At least not in Yosemite they aren't. The domain can also be an issue if you are not plugged or wireless directly to the TC.
    6. Make sure IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open the network preferences, wireless and advanced / TCP/IP.. and fix the IPv6. to link-local only.
There is a lot more jiggery pokery you can try but the above is a good start.. if you find it still unreliable.. don't be surprised.
You might need to do some more work on the laptop itself. eg Reset the PRAM.. has helped some people. Clean install of the OS is also helpful if you upgrade installed.
    Tell us how you go.
Someone posted a solution.. See this thread.
Macbook can't find Time Capsule anymore
Start from the bottom and work up.. I have a list of good network practice changes but I have avoided Yosemites bug heaven.
This user has had success and a few others as well.

  • PS 6,Yosemite issues

I recently updated to OS10.10.1 and Photoshop is not behaving very well, the brushes are lagging badly and sometimes missing strokes completely, That is the worst of the problems so if I can get this fixed I can live with the rest of the issues.
    thanks,
    Dan

The problems that I am having are very strange, specifically the brushes are lagging and slow to make marks, when I try to change tools using the keyboard, sometimes they change, sometimes they don't. I usually just touch another app then go back to CS6 and they work for a bit. When I have the rulers on, the brushes are really slow and sometimes miss strokes altogether, very annoying...
I don't get any error messages just bad behavior from photoshop.
The type of files I work on are paintings in CS6, I'm an illustrator and do book illustrations, I do ask a bunch from the software but it usually works fine, especially before the upgrade to Yosemite.
I upgraded to the latest version today of OS10.10.2 and it did not make a difference.
I talked to apple, they had me reinstall the OS, they said it was missing some stuff and needed to be done again, I uninstalled CS6 and reinstalled, dumping the preferences along the way, still the same bugs.
I'm getting desperate and need help...
Im working on a mac pro late 2009ish 6 gigs of ram about 5oo gigs of available hd space, I do not have separate HD space partitioned/ allocated to scratch.

  • So many Yosemite issues

    Hi, all —
It seems that Yosemite has killed (or at least gravely wounded) a number of connectivity issues with my Mac and other devices. I'm running Yosemite on a mid-2011 27-inch iMac with 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor(s) and 8GB RAM.
My phone is an iPhone 5c, 16GB model with all the latest iOS updates as of the beginning of December, 2014 (iOS 8.1.1). It has not ever been Jailbroken or anything like that.
My AppleTV is Model A1469 (I forget if it's 2nd or 3rd gen), running software version 7.0.2 (6915); it says it's up-to-date. It's hard-wired to my AirPort Extreme.
I have another AppleTV, a 160GB 1st-gen, also connected wirelessly from upstairs. Neither has ever been tampered with, Jailbroken, etc.
I myself am a basic model human male, circa 1968, average memory and storage. I used to think I was slightly above-average MacOS & hardware aptitude, but I am increasingly finding myself ready to abandon that assessment. I have never been jailbroken, however I am well-housebroken, FWIW.
    1. JAVA DRAMA: I keep getting the error demanding that I update Java. Others have posted about this, I've tried the things that helped all of them, and so far: nothing helps. I've clicked through the error to get to the installer that it recommends, and done that two or three times. I've also used the solution posted here several times (a 2014 Java updater from Apple) at least twice: nothing.
    2. Apple TV connectivity: My kids watch Netflix. A lot. I also have probably a couple hundred movies shared via Home Sharing. When the two-year-old wants to watch something that should be easily accessible from iTunes, or (fates willing) my wife and I want to watch one of our movies in the collection, I slide over to "Computers" and, until recently, was almost always quickly taken to our home library and allowed to choose content. Lately, though, I have to restart the AppleTV, iTunes, and Home Sharing before any connection can be made. Just turning off HomeSharing and turning it back on again is useless... I really do have to quit and restart iTunes THEN stop/start HomeSharing AND restart the AppleTV to make the connection. Daily. Sometimes more than once per day. What gives here?
    3. Every time (did I mention, EVERY TIME) I connect my iPhone to my Mac, I have to turn it on and answer the "Trust this computer?" prompt. Otherwise, it will never sync. My wife's 5c almost never successfully syncs at all, prompt or not. Mine will also rarely update the pictures in the albums designated to be updated on the phone. When I add pics to one of my albums in iPhoto on the Mac, it takes sometimes a week or more before those pictures ever make their way to the phone version of the same album, even though I sync every day at least once.
    4. I tried tinkering with call hand-off and, again, EVERY TIME I look to see if the phone and Mac are connected, I find that BlueTooth has lost connectivity and I have a difficult, if not impossible, time reconnecting the two. I've never successfully handed off a call because my devices almost never pair. Similarly, AirPlay rarely works without a lot of try-try-again mentality and some degree of swearing. The AirPlay issue applies mostly to my 5C and my newer AppleTV. I haven't tried, very often, AirPlaying between the iMac and other devices, or other devices at all except the 5C & ATV.
    5. I find that my Mac keeps duplicating itself... when I tried to pair my phone & Mac today, it said I should find Mike Hoffman's iMac (15)  and pair it. I noticed that the last-paired iMac was (10).
    6. Occastionally, I'll get an error message stating that another Mac on my network has the same IP address as I do. Neat trick: this is the ONLY Mac on my network! I have iPhone, iPads, and two AppleTVs on the network with me, but no laptops or other desktops. Maybe that's why....
    7. ...I have had issues where Final Cut Pro (7) tells me it can't run because of a "protection error," because another Mac is running a copy with the same serial number... but, again, no other Macs are on my network. This will go on for weeks at a time (I have to turn off AirPort to edit) and will then stop as randomly as it started.
Any valid ideas will be greatly appreciated.

  • Yosemite issues iPhoto images lost, bluetooth not syncing

I uploaded Yosemite and then was instructed that iPhoto needed to be upgraded.  Did that and lost 50% of my albums. Also
bluetooth is not syncing now and is breaking up. At the shop where I took the MacBook Pro, on returning, service person
said many reporting the same issues.  Please advise

No I do have a back up Its kinda long to explain but last a little over a week ago, i delete a important file in my private/var folder and screwed up my computer. Worst part was I didn't run time machine for almost a month that way all my pics that I did bring on weren't backup up. i know this sounds careless but normally does happen like this. Anyway I had to take my imac into to get it fixed and the only way to do it without losing all my data was to do an archive and install and of course my drive was full so they had to swap it out and they put in a 2 TB and ya, so now I am where I am at. Everything is here but got pro app and iphoto issues. I guess worst case scenario if something does go wrong on the install I kinda do have a back up as the old drive can be put into a enclosure and used as a HD but I guess it is a bootable drive so I don't know if it would mount properly. Thanks for you help though/ Really Appreciate it.

  • Time Machine - Yosemite Issues

    I keep getting a message - "backup failed - There isn't enough space ..."
In the past, TM would automatically delete the oldest backup. But I can't seem to make that happen w/ Yosemite.
Anyone else experiencing this issue ?

    For me:
Time Machine is still broken.  When I "Enter Time Machine" all of my monitors go black (iMac) and the computer will not recover.  A hard reset is needed.  Any ideas?
I have no easy access to backups via TM (can get there with finder but not TM)

  • Yosemite issue - Audio suddenly drifting

My job neccessitates I edit a lot of Skype interviews and video obtained from all kinds of weird frame rates and cameras. Premiere Pro has always played nicely with them... until Yosemite.
I did a clean wipe of my computer before installation, so... starting from scratch with nothing but the Yosemite OS and a fresh download of Premiere Pro, I opened an existing project from an external drive.
Then my nightmare happened. The audio in the timeline is as it should be. The video is very much out of sync. Clicking into the clips in my source monitor, I can see the video drifting out of sync over the course of the video. I've played with the "Interpret Footage" settings on individual clips, but am not having luck resolving this.  I even tried creating a new project and re-importing clips. Still, out of sync in the source monitor. Before I even drop them on a timeline.
These are clips that play, in sync, with QuickTime, VLC, etc. And, again, these are clips that played in Premiere YESTERDAY, under the Mavericks OS.
Any advice? If this is an issue of the clip having a Variable Frame Rate, my question is: why is Premiere in Yosemite treating the clips differently than Premiere in Mavericks?
Clip properties below (I know it's a funky clip, but I work with these clips almost daily and have never had an issue until now).

    Hello Mrs. Sean Bradley,
The problem with some of these streaming files is that they record with a variable frame rate. Premiere Pro doesn't handle variable frame video, it must be a constant frame rate. Most people having this problem transcode the files in Handbrake (free application) and then import them to Premiere Pro. See if that works for you.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Yosemite issues with Airplay (audio and video stuttering)

I have two very annoying issues with Airplay after upgrading to OS Yosemite (these issues were non-existent with the OS Maverciks) -
    1. Periods of Image and audio stuttering lasting approximately 20 seconds, coming on and off at regular and frequent intervals,
    2. It is virtually impossible to disconnect the airplay from the Apple TV by selecting "disconnect airplay display" - one needs to restart the machine to disconnect.
The configuration I am using includes the latest release of Apple TV (with latest software), the latest Airport Extreme  (with latest software) and the 2013  iMac with the latest OS - Yosemite. I would like to reiterate there was no image and video choppiness / stuttering issue with Macericks. A serach for the stuttering issue shows it was reported by other users as well (following upgrade to the official Yosemite) and was first reported by a number of users during the beta testing of Yosemite.
I would appreciate your advice how to fix the issue.

Hold down the menu and down buttons on the apple TV remote for 6 seconds. It worked for me.
I must admit to be getting a little tired of finding workarounds to Apple's glitches. I now spend hours searching the net to find out how to get their products to do what they say they will.
    Remember when things just worked?

  • Yosemite Issues after install

So this is my first MAC computer, which is a MAC BOOK PRO (2014) version that i bought less than 2 months ago, so i have never gone through a OS update for OSX, normally i run windows and I'm am very tech savvy. But i have limited use with OSX so after having some trouble i am looking for advice with the following issues installing Yosemite.
So i downloaded and installed Yosemite the day it was released. No problems downloading and running install, got a black screen with the apple logo and progress bar. Once the progress bar was completely full the install started with the time countdown, at that point i left the computer and let it complete. Once i saw the computer again, it was on the black screen and progress bar again, but the progress bar was only about 1/4 of the way full. After leaving it sit there for may 30 min or more it was still in the same spot. I restarted the computer and that time the progress bar filled and the login screen appeared, but as soon as it came up the mouse color wheel appeared and never disappeared. After restarting the computer again i got the halted progress bar and had to restart again, this goes off and on for the progress bar during reboots. I then tried to boot the computer in safe mode which didn't seem to have any issues.
Because i didn't create a back up prior to running the Yosemite update, i then had to re-install OSX from the utility manager. This tried to re-download and install OSX Mavericks, but i ended up getting an install error. I ended up going into disk management and erasing the partition and again run the OSX Mavericks install which this time completed. After setting up some, i ran the backup and then tried installing Yosemite again. Again the black screen and progress bar filled, then went to the grey screen with countdown and when the countdown completed it went back to the black screen and progress bar again at which freezes and does the same after all reboots. From some stuff i have read during install there should be a point that i have to interface with the install but the only time i select anything is at the start after Yosemite downloads.
Since i could not do anything again i reloaded from the backup, again i tried to run the yosemite install and got the same outcome. Right now i am back to my Backup of Mavericks trying to figure out what to do next.

Im not using any devices attached to my MacBook, i did how ever retry for a 4th time to install Yosemite. This time when the progress bar came up after the install countdown it froze again. I put the computer down and let it sit for the night. When I woke up it was asking me to input my setup into. And seemed to be working fine.
but again I restarted the computer and when it booted and displayed the login screen I got the color wheel again, after about 5 min the wheel disappeared and showed the regular mouse again. When I clicked on my user name the color wheel came back for a min and then showed my password bar. It seems to keep lagging while trying to log in. I put in my password and it lagged for some time before it displayed it was entered and after I clicked enter the color wheel is back and I'm waiting. Is anyone else having issues with logging in lagging so much?

  • Yosemite issues again

why since I have downloaded Yosemite does my IMAC not recognise my email or printer

    What model printer?
Have yo went to the manufacturer's support site?
Some printers require an updated driver.
What do you mean by "my IMAC not recognise my email"?
BTW, this is the Mac Pro desktop forum
