Yosemite keeps asking log in password for icloud
At each boot I am requested to submit password for i-cloud, which is not accepted even if it is correct, If I cancel the request twice everithig goes bacxk to normal. This is only on one of the three mac I use.
I have solved this problem which was driving me nuts !l In my case, it was because I had a while ago opted for "two step verification".
OSX now wants you to input an app specific password for Messenger, Facetime and other apps you may use like Fantastical or Day One.
clue is a LOGO on the box that pops up asking for the password ... not obvious I only gleaned this from another thread ... or try clicking on the text saying "password required for .... " and it might give you a clue.
You create the app specific password by going to the manage your ID section on your apple account under password and security.
NOTE TO APPLE. In the next update make the box say "XYZ App requires a specific password for [email protected] account" or similar
Hope that helps

Hope I'm in the right place. First time user. Not tech savvy. Just upgraded to OSX Mavericks. Box keeps asking me to enter my iCloud password. I keep entering my password but box keeps popping back up asking for password?! I selected cancel but what should I do next time it asks for my iCloud password? Is my iCloud working? How do I retrieve my password?
ThanksIn the iCloud pane of System Preferences, uncheck the box marked Mail and check it again.

I keep gettin sign in prompts for iCloud since I updated to Yosemite
I keep getting sign in prompts for iCloud since I updated to Yosemite. I repeatedly get them for Face Time and iMessage also. Haven't found any way to stop them. I click cancel on every one and then they show up again about 5 seconds later. I finally have been simply putting the window at the bottom of the screen. What can I do to stop these password sign in request windows?
I'd love a solution to this, as well

HT2623 I keep getting an error message when I enter my password for iCloud IMAP server
I keep getting an error message when I enter my password for iCloud IMAP server
A number of users who have chosen to set up iCloud mail manually in the Mail application seem to encounter problems with continually being asked to sign in. This may well be a result of incorrect settings such as not setting 'Apple Token' for authentication under the accounts advanced settings.
A more general approach to remedying such problems would be to turn off Mail in System Preferences/Settings > iCloud, checking the account has been removed from Mail (and deleting it if it hasn't), restarting and then enabling iCloud Mail again from System Preferences/Settings > iCloud. This will ensure the correct settings are used. -
I got this iphone from a guy and everytime i tried to update the applications stored in this phone it keeps asking me the password that the guy used to use, even thou i created a new apple ID of my own and updated the account of icloud and everything in this iphone with the new apple ID, it still asks me the password of the account that the guy used to use whenever i tried to update the applications, and i cant find the guy who gave me this iphone...wt should i do???
Apps are permanently tied to the AppleID that downloaded them and cannot be transferred to another. Best thing to do is delete the apps and download those you want or need under your AppleID.

Safari (for PC) keeps asking company network password in every boot.
Safari PC version keeps asking company network password in every boot. Even if I checked the remember box, nothing changes. (ver 5.1.7 7534.57.2). I also use other browsers (Chrome, IE, Firefox), I entered the password once and that is all.
Hello,
Please open the Keychain Access program in Applications > Utilites. In the Edit menu, choose Change Sttings for Keychain 'Login'. Make sure none of the boxes is ticked and confirm by pressing save.
That should fix the problem. -
Why do I keep getting a message that states "the user name or password for icloud is incorrect.
Apple are currently trying to get less secure passwords updated. They require that your account passwords are at least eight characters long and contain both alpha and numeric characters and at least one upper case alpha character.
You might try changing your account password to match these requirements.
My Apple ID -
my icloud account keeps telling me that my user name or password for icloud is incorrect but it works for downloading apps etc and joining this forum
Accessing the itunes store and joining this forum are different accounts than an icloud account, so it's not necessarily true that your ID for icloud is the same as for itunes.
Did you set up an icloud account?

perhaps users in the iCloud forum can help you. When you post in there, give them as much information as possible. Good luck.

We purchased a new iPad2 and registered it using a 'new' iCloud email/ID. We are unable to send email from the iPad and iPhone. The error is:>> Cannot send mail. The user name or password for iCloud is incorrect.
About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

That means that you did not buy the apps using your Apple account. Niel has the correct answer. -

Hello Martin,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iCloud account on your Mac. I recommend signing out of iCloud first:
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings

If you are still being prompted for your password, I recommend the steps in the following article (this article refers to an iOS device, but the steps are still relevant for your Mac as well):

My password for icloud is different from my Apple id and I can't change my icloud password, where can I get that changed?
Your Apple ID is required to log in to iCloud, yes? I think you are rquired to re-sign in when performing an iCloud feature?

I had to change my apple id password and now I'm getting the user name or password for "icloud" is incorrect.
Hi Ed,
I experienced a similar problem too. It happened overnight a few weeks ago after 11/19.
I got a pop up message, saying that my password needed to be reset.
So I reset my password, and ever since, I have not been able to read/send email from my icould @me.com acct.
Now I get the error: "The user name or password for "icloud" is incorrect" on my iOS devices, though it is correct enough for access my iTunes account and to log into http://icloud.com.
Interestingly enough, the issue seems to be related to the email only, since I cannot access icould email from the website either. It instead creates an error dump.
