Yosemite Mac Mail & Exchange Hanging
Hi All,
I have a client experiencing the following problem:
His mail continuously hangs while working normally in mail. He is using an Office 365 Exchange account. (This used to work flawlessly in Mavericks)
I notice that it often happens when mail activity says "writing changes to disk"
I have tried:
Repair Disk and Permissions on Recovery Partition
Uncheck "automatically detect and maintain my account settings"
Remove and setup Account
Reload fresh copy of Yosemite and setup account (Not restored from a time machine backup)
It takes a really long time to download all his mail again, and I have also noticed that when new mails come in, the body of the email does not show up in the list view for a long time (or until you quit and reopen mail)
He has :
MacBook Pro 17" 2011
8GB RAM
OSX 10.10.2
I don't know where to go from here, so any thoughts will be appreciated......

This issue is still ongoing on 10.10.3 and happens on all 3 of his MacBooks - Air, Pro and Pro Retina (which he bought about a week ago)

Mavericks Mac Mail Exchange Sync
I have a user on Mavericks 10.9.4 using Mac Mail to connect to our corporate exchange service.
About every 3 months Mac Mail starts a sync, re-downloading his entire exchange mail of around 3GB. We also find that mail will download, say junk mail, he will delete it and it will reappear in the junk folder.
Any ideas what we can do to resolve this?Yes! I have had mail hang up on me several times using exchange. Just keeps spinning and won't sync. Once it happened when I was sending a large file attachment. Had to remove the email from outbox, then restart mail.

IPhone/Mac Mail Exchange parity
Hello,
I am using Exchange on my iPhone and can link up to my server without issue. However, I cannot set up my Exchange server email within Mac Mail using the same credentials. Can anyone assist me in setting up a new exchange account in Mail using my iPhone as a template?

DamonPhone exhange clients are different from mail program exchange clients. My iphone connects easily to my Exchange 2007 at work. Entourage does easily, but the account settings require more info. Try manual configuration. Ironically, for the same server, Outlook 2007 needs a vpn to connect.

Yosemite mac mail drowning in mail delivery failed messages I didn't send!

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I am getting hundreds (tens of thousands this week!) emails that read:
From: Mail Delivery System
Subject: Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender
But I didn't send any of the emails! I've spent this entire week deleting them, working on phone with my server who claims to have fixed it (NOT!), and 5 hours on phone support with Apple today. Still happening. There must be a setting that is screwed up in Yosemite, eh? Who can help me? Using Mac Mail on Mac Book Pro. I'm drowning here! GLUG. Thanks!
EditDid all of that with Apple and they nor my server thought this was the problem, nor did they get it resolved. I'm wondering if there's a rule in Mail preferences that I accidentally deleted that could be the cause. There were two rules and neither made any sense to me but as soon as I deleted the first one, I realized I probably shouldn't have. And there's been a huge problem since...not sure that's why but I must find the resolution. I did have genieo somehow installed so Apple got it uninstalled and did tons of things to my system to clean this and that. BUT the problem remains. If you use mac mail and Yosemite, can you check the two rules that automatically were in the mail preferences window to tell me what rule I deleted? Thank you so very much!

How can I import 1000s of Emails from Mac Mail (Exchange Account) into Gmail and Retain Labels?
I have an old exchange account in Mac Mail, disconnected, but still with 1000s of emails in a folder structre. I'd like to import all of those into my Gmail account, and retain the folder structre as Gmail labels). What's th easiest way to do this?
That is a question for Google, as far as I know Exchange does not use labels, the folders are (unlike Gmail) real.
But Google support may know a way. -
Mac Mail PhotoBrowser hangs the app
Just noticed that clicking on the Photobrowser Icon in Mac Mail hangs the entire application. Apparently it is looking somewhere for the browser that it can no longer find. Is there a place to set up the link for Photo Browser. I know it is supposed to go to iPhoto library, or Aperature (which I don't use). Is there somewhere in Preferences where this can be set or is this a bug in the application itself?

Broken Archive Behavior with Yosemite Mac Mail and Gmail?

It seems that with the Yosemite upgrade of Mail, the archive behavior with gmail (google apps) has broken. You can not change the Archive command to select the archive folder. The command just seems just to move the message from the Inbox to to the All Mail folder and no longer shows any messages in my folder called Archive. I have to go to gmail web to view these messages. This broke from Mavericks where I was able to archive to a mailbox called 'Archive'.
Is there anyway to change the behavior of Mail to select the archive folder and view the contents of my IMAP folder named 'Archive'?

When either one of us deletes a message, it is automatically deleted from the other's Mail Inbox
That's exactly what IMAP is for: to sync mailboxes on different machines.
We would very much like to find a simple way to make sure whatever messages get downloaded into our Mail Inboxes stay there regardless of what the other person does.
As far as I know, that's not possible with IMAP. Besides, as I indicated above, it contradicts the idea behind IMAP. For info on IMAP and Gmail see this [Help Page|http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=mail&answer=75725] (click the link) and for info on deleting IMAP messages in Gmail see [this page|http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78755] (again, click the link).
In your case I would recommend using POP instead of IMAP. But you have to make sure that the messages you download are kept on the server, so that your wife can access them, too. In the following I'll give some instructions on how to accomplish that.
*1) Switch from IMAP to POP in Gmail*
1.1 Log into your Gmail account via mail.google.com, click "Settings" in the upper right corner of the window and select "Forwarding and POP/IMAP". Make sure POP is enabled for "all mail".
1.2 Set the option "When messages are accessed with POP" via the drop-down menu to "Keep Google Mail's copy in the Inbox".
1.3 Disable IMAP access.
*2) Create a new POP mail account in Apple Mail*
*3) Adjust Apple Mail's settings*
In Apple Mail's Preferences > Accounts, select your new POP account and click on the "Advanced" tab. There you have to uncheck the checkbox next to "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message".
(You'll have to repeat steps 2) and 3) on your wife's computer as well.)

I am user of mid-2010 2,4 GHz Intel Core i5, recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite. Now whenever I try to use Mail, it closes within 5 seconds of opening. Multiple solutions tried - removal of gmail, other IMAP mail accounts, cache removed via Finder, Yosemite reinstalled - no luck. This is really annoying!! Any suggestions from the community? Would happily go back to Mavericks if I can!!!

I have a customer who's mac mail keeps hanging up their dial up connection after a send/receive. For the life of me I can't find any setting that would do this, of course my Mac is at home and we're going by screenshots here at work, any thoughts?

disconnect when user logs out must be OFF

UAG problems with OSX - same problem with Mac Mail and Outlook 2011 (via EWS)
Hi folks,
I'm trying to fix the last snagging issue I have with OSX clients in a UAG / Exchange 2010 deployment:
When trying to connect Mac Mail or Outlook 2011 the connections are very slow to start up, both at initial config and thereafter.
On connection I see lots of the same error re Session Cookies in UAG and no connection in the mail client. If I leave it for a few minutes, sometime many minutes, the errors stop and I eventually get a working connection.
The error is:
"Sesson Attempted to Access Restricted Application"
User with source IP address x.x.x.x tried to access application Exchange EWS that was restricted that was restricted for the session. This might indicate an intrusion attempt by misusing the session cookie.
Has anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this ?

SteveRuud, no, we didn't find a solution, or rather our solution (so far) is to tell users not to use Mac Mail and to use Outlook 2011 instead, which seems to work fine (after some Office updates!)...and we haven't upset anyone with that requirement
(yet).
There are some very long discussions on Apple support forums about the whole Mavericks / Mac Mail / Exchange 2010 issues.
I do hope to have another go at this problem sometime soon, I'm sure there must be a solution (and my money says it relates our hardware load balancers).

I just upgraded to Yosemite and have found that Mail.app hangs. I would open it and 10 or 15 seconds later it would hang. I would get a spinning beach ball and Mail was listed as not responding in Activity Monitor.
I was able to narrow down the problem to one account. The account works in Thunderbird on the same Mac, so I don't think the account is a problem.
Any ideas how and can trouble shoot this, or otherwise diagnose and fix the problem?Hi railmeat,

How can I create subfolders in Mac Mail for an Exchange account?
I use Mac Mail on OS X 10.8.4 to download my Exchange mail, which is hosted on Office 365.
I can create folders inside existing subfolders in my Inbox, but if I try to create one as a first-level subfolder of the Inbox the option does not exist. Instead, it creates another top level folder and puts it at the bottom of the folder list, not inside the Inbox.
Can anyone tell me how to add a normal subfolder to my Inbox?Exchange Basics
The Inbox syncs more frequently than any other and should be kept as clean as possible. (this is the number one cause of problems with sync). Do NOT make subfolders under the Inbox.
Exchange checks the server for updates every minute, any folder that has updates will subsequently be synced. Since Exhange has a limit on how many folders can be synced at a time, there can be a queue of folders waiting. The Inbox does get high priority so it will generally sync before other folders that also need to sync.
Keep your folders under the 2GB limit. That's approx 6-10K messages per folder (does not include subfolders) Outlook does not export folders over 2GB as .mbox files

It's best to move folders using your web interface (OWA) but you can drag in Outlook and/or Mail.
In Browser via OWA
Because of the massive changes the process is best done in your browser. I would also put Mail into work offline mode during this process. After all is moved on the server via the browser, I would delete the Exchange account and let it all download correctly from the server. -
Mac Mail move IMAP message to Exchange Folder

I have most of my email accounts set up in Mac Mail (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, Exchange (office365 hosted)).
When I try to move any of my messages from the first 3 accounts (all IMAP) to the Exchange folder I get the error "can't move...message".
How the heck are people copying/moving IMAP messages to exchange folders in Mac Mail????????????No insight whatsoever?

All sub-folders in Mac Mail cannot synchronize with Exchange Server 2010

All sub-folders under Inbox in Mac Mail cannot be synchronized with Exchange Server 2010. There are 2GB messages size in Inbox folder and 500MB messages size under Inbox's sub-folders. All messages can be sent out and received and it can work in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 normally. However, all messages in sub-folders cannot be synchronized (empty sub-folders).
Does this problem relate to message synchronization order of Mac Mail with Exchange Server? Do all sub-folders messages be synchronized after synchronization complete of Inbox? The synchronization of sub-folders will not happen if the synchronization of Inbox does not complete, doesn't it?
All messages synchronization is over internet. Can anybody help?

1.please check the mailbox send and receive quota for exchange 2013 migrated mailbox.
2.Please check the email attributes of the exchange 2013 migrated mailbox because it seems to be a problem with that particular mailbox.
3.Then do the message tracking and that would be the only way to find the where the send messages has gone.
4.Please check and confirm you have an enough space on the disk where exchange queue database is residing.
I think I need to create a receive connector in the 2013 to receive from 2010 ?
No need ,by design exchange 2013 cas server default frontend receive connector will be having an
entire ipv4 and ipv6 segment and anonymous connection is checked by default.
I think I also need to create a send and receive connector for 2013 users to each other?
No need , an intra organisation send connector and the default receive connectors in exchange will be used
for internal mail flow between the exchange 2013 users.

Since uprgading to Mountain Lion, my mac mail no longer works with my exchange email properly. I finally gave up and moved back to outlook for mac, but now my new issue is using outlook calendar and contacts with icloud; possible?
Sorry but I'm really not to sure what I have. I'm not good with knowing my computer model. All I know is that its a MacBook running with Leopard. I got my computer last year so I suppose its fairly new. Is there a place on my computer where I can check to see what it is (sorry to be so dumb with my own mac)
And everything else works fine. I love Safari. It's just my mail that doesn't work. Here's the message that pop up several times.
"The MobileMe IMAP server “mail.mac.com” rejected the password for user “akcastaldo”
Please re-enter your password, or cancel."
The only problem here is, even though I enter my password it doesn't do anything. It makes that message go away for about 3-5 mins. After that it pops right back up. And I can't even go into my preference and change my email password. So I don't know what to do.
