Yosemite - Open App On Particular Screen
I am wondering if there is a way to always open an app on a particular screen in Yosemite. In Maverick you could right click on the app in the dock and select Options>Assign To>Desktop on Display 1 such as the image below, I don't see this option in Yosemite. Is it gone? Do I have to enable this somewhere?

The ability to assign an application to a specific space or display still exists in Yosemite, although the option does not appear unless you have multiple Spaces open.
If you are using multiple displays (monitors), you may need to enable this option in Mission Control preferences:
Displays have separate Spaces
If you use the Spaces feature and have multiple displays, you can set up separate spaces for each display.

If you want to switch between multiple Spaces on your Mac display, try this:
To quickly see and go to your spaces, zoom to Mission Control.
Create a space
Zoom to Mission Control, then move the pointer toward the upper-right corner of your screen. (If your Dock is on the right side of the screen, move the pointer toward the upper-left corner.)
To add a space, click Add . You can add up to 16 spaces.
Once you have created multiple Spaces, you should have the Options > Assign to option in your Dock and can follow these steps:
Assign apps to spaces
If you assign an app to a particular space, it opens in that space by default.
Press and hold an app’s icon in the Dock. You may have to first open the app from Launchpad to see its icon in the Dock.
From the shortcut menu that appears, do one of the following:
Have the app open in the current space: Choose Options > This Desktop.
The app appears only in that space. However, if you open the app in full screen, it appears in its own space.

Iphone 6 plus - phone opens apps and loses screen sensitivity
I purchased an Iphone 6 plus 128gb. I have setup the phone and it has a habit of opening random apps, loses keyboard sensitivity and generally does what it wants. Is this an issue with the software, hardware or both. I found my Iphone 5 much more stable. I have completed a full reset to try and sort the issue out but it appears to remain. why does the phone seem to have a mind of its own. It will open apps even when I am not touching the screen.
I would back it up to iTunes and then restore to factory settings and see if the problem recurs before restoring from back up. If it does then I would bring the phone into an Apple Store for service.

Can't open Apps because My Screen Sticks
I can open all apps except for the third column. For some reason my iPod touch Responds to the touch except for in that third column. It sticks and any apps that I want to open that are in that third column, I can't. I haven't dropped my iPod. I replaced the digitizer, and since then the screen has been sticking. What do I do? Is there any way to fix this?
Why did you replace the digitizer? Have you tried remaking the connectors since it appears you have a connection problem.

I recently updated to Yosemite and now I am having problems with the above mentioned apps, not opening at all.
I am unable to check to which version its update to, or even update to next version.You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below. If you use any iWork applications, you may need to delete them and redownload them from the App Store.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon, usually with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

I can't open apps on my iPhone. The touch screen doesn't work. I have restored it already but it still won't work. What can I do.
If the touch screen is not having any response then you probably have a hardware failure. Take your phone to an Apple Store or authorised service provider to have it checked.

Problem description:
(MacBook Pro 15” late 2008, OSX Yosemite 10.10.2 installed, no pending updates) computer is running very slow - takes 2-3 minutes to open apps such as Pages, even when no other apps are open. Randomly freezes and becomes unresponsive, requiring forced power down. Randomly logs off. Removed Kodak AIO software via Clean My Mac2, but BonjourAgent still there and requesting access. Cleaned weekly with Clean My Mac2 and running Sophos AntiVirus. 2GB memory installed. Currently 169.99 GB available of 249.2 GB capacity.

Cannot not close open apps with double clicking the button Since downloading iOS8.
What happens when you try? Does double clicking the ?home button bring up the Task Bar of recently used apps? If so what happens when you flick up on the preview screen for the app you want to close?
To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. -

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Some thoughts/suggestions after playing with Passport for two days:
- Home Screen: confusion of "home screeen": in browser "Add to Home Screen". it refers to the first left scroll of "Open Apps" screen. But the mini icon at the bottom of the screen the home sign refers to the left most screen - open apps.
- Is there a way to customize which screen as "home" screen? Personally I don't like to go back to "open apps" when I swipe up my current app. I would rather stay to e.g the one next to it with desktop of icons. In most cases I don't bother to manage the open apps screen unless I do need to switch between them. Those big icons create distraction so I would rather hide them(and call them back when necessary).
- switch/transition between different apps: not quite natural/smoothly. Need more fade in/out effect to make it feels perfect.If you can't find the App Store app on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
The reset (and/or getting the App Store app back on screen) might also get the apps to start downloading again. If it doesn't then check if there are any outstanding downloads in the iTunes store app that need to complete first e.g. is there anything shown in the Downloads tab in it -

Press your home button, then scroll the home screen all the way over to the right. I found all my purchased apps were moved to a different home screen. Might be a similar issue.. let us know what you found out!!

I have an Ipod touch. Since this morning I am not able to open any of my purchased apps. The screen briefly flashes but the apps don't start. Can anyone help?

I cannot open any new apps from the App Store despite having installed them and having the option to open them. The open icon I can see registers the screen touch but the apps will not open. I cannot see them on the main screen either despite being installed. I have tried to activate ( going from advice on other threads) them by downloading free app but the same happens to that one. I have tried removing nearly all apps from main screen. Any other ideas? Thx
