Yosemite OS X running slowly, BC Win7 working fine?

A month or so ago, my 2011 21.5" iMac suddenly started running painfully slowly - spinning beach ball for seemingly simple tasks like opening my applications folder, a browser menu, etc. - making it impossible to actually use for anything. I had been utilizing my iMac primarily for gaming in windows 7, and using Mac OSX for school/work. I had FileVault Enabled, MacAfee was draining resources, and was running Mavericks at the time - a combination I thought was causing the issue. I wound up removing my windows partition, completely wiping the HD and doing a full recovery mode upgrade/reinstall of Yosemite. FileVault couldn't be disabled for some reason, so I completely wiped the drive, and did a clean reinstall of Yosemite. I initially tried to restore to an earlier date via Time Machine, but it didn't resolve the issue. I was almost convinced that it was a hardware failure after all of my troubleshooting steps (as advised by my friend who is an At-Home advisor): I reset PRAM, verified and repaired the drive as well as permissions via DiskUtility, etc., but the performance issues continued.
So I was growing more convinced that my mac was dying (hardware failure) but I wanted to try one more thing before making a genius bar appt, and that was creating a fresh Bootcamp partition with a windows 7 install. And the thing is, everything is currently running fine in Windows - no slowness, performance issues, or constant "working" icons (glowing circle/beach ball) so it would seem that it isn't a hardware failure causing the issue (to my novice logic) but rather it seems to be isolated to mac OS X. (I am clearly trying to avoid hauling my baby 60+ miles away for a genius appt., but if that's what it boils down to, I will).
My hunch is that the issue lies with finder, as it's the little, menial tasks that are crippling performance - opening folders, interacting with the dock, opening a new tab in a browser, opening format options in TextEdit, etc. Relaunching finder doesn't seem to improve things for long, and I have performed an additional clean reinstall of Yosemite. I've browsed the forums and scoured google for someone having similar issues, but it always seems to be that they're given the same troubleshooting steps I've completed, or told it's a
hardware failure. I think this may be a bit different, and I'd appreciate any help offered. Let me know if I can provide any additional information, and I apologize for the wordiness of this post.

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

HI,
If iChat is Open and your think Accounts/Screen Names are logged in then go to the Window Menu
This should list the accounts that are logged in with various keystrokes ( Apple/CMD ( or ⌘) and a Number) shown next to them.
Using these should get the Buddy list "back".
It is possible to Hide the Buddy list and then Quit iChat.
iChat will then "remember" where the windows were eve if this was Hidden.
Can you confirm that after reinstalling or restoring from Time Machine with possibly an Earlier Version you have Downloaded the COMBO version of OS X 10.6.8 and "run the COMBO" (Installed it - again) to update iChat ?
It is possible the text chat Window is also Hidden on double clicking a Buddy.
The easiest way for this to happen is to use a second Display and drag some windows to the second Display.
iChat "remembers" where you last had Outgoing Chats so Audio and Video windows will be where you left them as will Text Chats.
Incoming Chat Invites are normally in set places unless there is a chat already open to that Buddy.
With Windowing issue like this is sometimes pays to delete com.apple.ichat.plist itself (on it's own) and restart iChat (this plist holds the window positions amongst other things)

LSMW fails when run in B/G works fine in Frontend..why?

i am trying to runa batch process by LSMW, my files are accurate, no problem with them, everything works fine but it fails when run in BG..works absolutely fine in front end. whats the diff with running in B/G?
same thing happens when i am trying to execute an RFC thru SAP JCO, it works when debugger is on 9i guess switching on debugger is similar to running in B/G) but it doesnt work when debugger is off. but when i execute that RFC directly in se37 from SAP gui it works fine..fails when connected to JCO..
i am not having this issue with r/3 4.6c or mySAP ECC.6.0 i have this issue only in r/3 4.7.
has anyone faced the similar situtaion? pls help.

p.s if this may help. the RFC and LSMW error both are pertaining to change in address of US employees.( infotype 0006)

for LSMW its the recording of transaction PA40 (employee hire fails when filling address details) and PA30 (change address) and same is the case with RFC..well its a BAPI_ADDRESSEMPUS_CHANGE.
To eloborate more..the error is..Fill in all the mandatory fields.

I am getting an error when I try to run a Journal report in HFM. The report runs fine for October Month but fials in November. does anyone have any ideas what it could be. The error message details are per below

Hi All,
I narrowed it down by running a report excluding working journals and that worked fine.
This was being caused by an invalid working Journal. I exported all journals from Prod, and tried loading them to test. One of the errors was
"Line: 7736, Error: Invalid parent.child entity dimension specified"
Looking at the row the journal did not have an entity specified for one of the lines.
When a valid entity was specified the journal report then starts working.
Lesson. Check all journals are valid. To find error, load journals export in a different environment.

PSE 10 running slowly on Win7 machine

I have a PSE 10 catalog with about 31,000 images indexed. It's running on a Win 7 64-bit machine with a Core i7 2.67GHz CPU, 6GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD for applications and a conventional 1TB HDD for files. It has a Wiundows Experience Index of 6.6, so it's adequate, if not a screamer. I recently reinstalled the OS and all applications, restoring my PSE file from a backup.
Before the re-install and now, the program runs like a dog and occasionally crashes altogether. From the time I start the application until I have a working cursor (as opposed to the animated "I'm thinking about it" circle) is a minimum of 45 seconds, and moving between one image or keyword group and another also takes between 10-30 seconds. This gets to be pretty frustrating when I'm trying to find a particular image or add images.
Is the lag a result of having so many images indexed in one catalog? If I was to break the catalog up into smaller catalogs, how would I export the images from the master catalog and keep the indexing/keyword information I've created? If it's not caused by having a large catalog, then what is the best way to speed up the program?

How do I get my macmini running Mountain Lion to see my Canon USB printer connected to my Airport Extreme? I have a macbook pro running leopard and that works fine. The versions of airport utility are different and I can't even see the printer from new 1

I am having trouble seeing my usb printer from my second gen airport extreme using the newest version of airport utility under Mountain Lion. UGH! And while I can see and network to my Canon IP5000 from my macbook pro running leopard, I can't from my new macmini running Mountain Lion. Any help would be appreciated in configuring my macmini so it can see the Canon IP5000 on the airport extreme. Don't want to "share" the printer from the laptop because that would be a cludge. I solved this one based on another post. Turned out I needed the snow leopard IP5000 driver. I had just copied over the leopard driver (I had saved my .dmg file) and installed that but it didn't work. So I downloaded the latest driver which turned out to be for snow leopard and I am guessing since it is 64bit that is why it worked and the leopard driver didn't. Anyway, I also had to hook the printer up via usb to the mac mini to get it to work locally before the O/S would see it over Bonjour via the airport extreme.

Why will firefox not start on my laptop? can't uninstall or open the profile manager either. it simply does not run. it used to work fine until i had to restore my system.

had firefox 4.0 & have been a user of firefox for a few years now. never had any problems. had to do a system restore after my computer detected a virus of some sort & i couldn't do anything. the virus kept popping up a bogus add for me to buy an antivirus program. had to restart laptop in safemode to initiate the restore. ever since then firefox has not opened. can't even uninstall it or open the profile manager. anything that has to do with firefox will simply not run/open at all. i'm stumped.

System restore can cause problems as well as solve them, it has probably completely mucked up your Firefox installation.
Try deleting your Firefox installation directory, the default location on 32 bit Windows is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
Now re-install Firefox, it should pick up your current profile folder so you should not lose your bookmarks, passwords etc.

I have seen all the early responses to how to fix AOL mail issues on Iphones, however no mater how many smpt servers I set up or on .... I can not get AOL mail to send from my Iphone 5, running IOS 6. I have an Iphone 4 running IOS6 and it works fine...

I am having the same problem. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I called apple restored my phone to its original and it did not work :-( Now it seems like it worked for a bit than stopped again. Now I have to contact Apple again to set up an appointment at an Apple store because it may be an issue with my phone. I have only had it for a week and half!

I can't get Thundebird to connect on Win7, worked fine on XP

When my old XP computers all died, I transferred TB to a Win 7 toshiba laptop that had been upgraded from Vista.
The setup seemed to go fine and all old files were transferred but the system refused to connect and download any new emails. None of the help articles have been of any help. It's set up using imap but I don't know if I have the right settings and I really don't know what I'm even trying to find.

The only obviously odd thing there is account 3:
account3:

Google use SSL and port 993 for IMAP (as the other gmail accounts are set) and it's a bit of a mystery as to how you'd be allowed to use the setting shown here.
However, this wouldn't explain all the other accounts not working.
What firewall do you use? Has Thunderbird been explicitly permitted to pass?

I replace my win7 pc with a win8.1 pc. the TV monitor I was using with Win7 worked fine with 1360x768 resolution, however I don't have that choice with the Win8.1. I tried for months now with default & custom settings. I think is that Win8.1 sees the
display as Funai TV (Sylvania) where as Win7 as the Intel video display driver.
Some suggest edit the monitor.ini, not sure if that will work!
Any help is appreciated!

Based on my research, the resolution of second monitor should be managed by PC's graphic card driver, not Windows. That's to say, if the graphic card driver doesn't had a correspond setting to change display resolution settings, I'm afraid we have no way
to change the resolution to 1366x768.

Running 3.6.23 on Ubuntu 10.10. worked fine on Nationwide's site last week. Now they have a new site and there are many problems. Can I make the browser tell their site its on windows not linux?

changes since new site running All of which worked fine before:
clicking back button now asks if I really want to leave the current page and logs me out.
They report my browser is not supported.
Times out even though I am actively using the site.
When I try to send a secure message it wipes out what I am still typing and says it is not the right sort of thing to put in a message.
