Yosemite screensaver problem. Constsantly reverts back to National Geographic.

Has anyone found a fix to the screensaver problem? Nothing I try seems to work, including editing the Library files.
Thanks.

Here's an idea for a work around. Go to theNational Geographic photos folder and substiture your own photos. Under the finder menu, select go and then "go to folder" and paste in /Library/Screen Savers/Default Collections/1-National Geographic That will show the content. Save those pictures if you like to a folder somewhere and add your own photos to the national geographic folder..

  • Since I've updated my IMac to Yosemite, my screensaver preferences will not stay on IPhoto, it always reverts back to National  Geographic pictures.  Anyone have this problem?

I have an IMac from early 2009.  I've updated the OS X to Yosemite to 10.10.1 and since I've updated it, my system screensaver preferences WILL allow me to set the screensaver to IPhoto, but after a few minutes, it always reverts back to National Geographic pictures.  I tried putting ALL 18,000 of my pictures into a separate folder and choosing THAT folder for the screensaver, but again - it reverted back to the National Geographic pictures.
Is there any way I can set my screensaver preferences to IPhoto pictures?  Am I missing something?  Thanks for any input or suggestions.

  • My screensaver keeps switching back to national geographic from iPhoto

my screensaver keeps switching back to national geographic from iPhoto pictures

ASC member big.josh writes in this thread:
If I select the 'iPhoto' library icon that first comes up (in the hope of seeing all my Photos) it reverts to National Geographic when the screensaver runs.
But if I click the triangle to the left of the 'iPhoto' icon, and then select the 'Photos' icon from the drop-down list that appears, the screensaver does not revert to displaying National Geographic photos.
I haven't tested this solution, but it's more plausible than any of the others I've seen.

  • My Screensaver always goes back to National Geographic

    Hey.
I've set a personal Screensaver because I like it when a Slideshow will be shown on my screen while I'm not on the iMac.
For some reason my screensaver always goes back to the original National Geographics Pictures and I don't know why. I've been searching for this issue on the internet before and in some other forum they said that I have to delete the "screensaver" file from the Preferences Folder in the Libary. I don't have this file through.
Here are my iMac stats :
    Problem description:
My Screensaver always goes back to „National geographics“ even when I’ve set it to some personal pictures.

  • Problem with reverting back

Once I regress from 7.0 back to 6.0 I get the following message:
"The Software for communicationg with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod software."
I have the ipod updater from 06-28-2006 and when I launch it it says the following:
    'iPod service error"
    Any suggestions??

i have a similar problem. am using ipod video 30GB enhanced 5th gen. i tried to sync with itunes 6, but i got something like this - "your device requires the latest version of itunes. please install itunes 7"
the problem is, i installed itunes 7 but i could hardly update my ipod. not even to uncheck the "open itunes when ipod is connected" checkbox. if i do that and click 'Apply', itunes 7 will simply freeze, and after a while it gave me some error message. that was why i reverted to itunes 6.
so, is there any way i could make my ipod to work with itunes 6? it it helps, i NEVER 'sync'ed my ipod with itunes 6 before. i downloaded itunes 7 right after i bought the ipod last week.

  • Desktop pictures reverts to national geographic with 10.10.3 update

    iMac.  late 2012 - 2.9GHz icore 5 - 24GB Ram
with the yosemite upgrade my screen saver and desktop pictures would always revert back to national Geographic until the "leave the system preferences open" workaround was used.
with the 10.10.3 update this seems to be completely broken, always reverting to Nat Geo.
in fact, after setting the desktop to photos, it would change the desktop to one of my photos, but going on to one of my other desktops, it would be Nat Geo again.
sliding back to the desktop preferences panel. i would get back to it just in time to see the panel itself changing back to Nat Geo.
I can choose one of my photos as a permanent desktop picture and that seems ok, but if i want to shuffle, it goes back to defaults.

    Hello,
in the hope that someone could help me with some advice, I am uploading some pictures that are visualizing my above described problem.
    Thanks for any ideas.

  • How come Yosemite will not keep my settings to use iPhoto in screen saver mode?  It always goes back to national geo.

How come Yosemite will not keep my setting for using iPhoto when in screen saver mode?  It keeps defaulting back to National Geographic.

Been discussed many times in this forum.  Search or Google for links.

  • Screen Saver keeps defaulting to National Geographic no matter what I set it to.

I have repeatedly set my screen saver preference to Photo Library, but the computer keeps resetting it to National Geographic.  I have tried setting the screen saver to other settings, such as Aerial or Cosmos, just to see what happens, and it always goes back to National Geographic.
Help! Is this just a glitch? Or am I missing something...?
I am starting to hate National Geographic.

Issue for many.  Look through this forum for the discussions.

  • Yosemite screensaver reverts to National Geographic folder

Prefer to use my own photos folder created specifically to store pix I want to view when screensaver runs... as I have for decades. In OS X Yosemite 10.10.x, no matter what photo folder I choose, anywhere on my Mac, screensaver reverts to National-Geographic-only option... no matter how often I choose anything else. Fix? Suggestions? Alternate screensaver program I can download to view my own photo folder???? Unless/until Apple fixes this, (apparently this isn't just me as daughter has same issue on her Mac as do others I know using Mac OS X 10.10.x), I'm perfectly happy to download a different screensaver app if there is currently no fix for the system app... I just want to see the pix I choose, no matter how gorgeous the National Geographic pix are there are a limited number of them and I get bored quickly.

    I have the same problem.
I have deleted the National Geographic screen saver file in the past; however, this never solves the issue either.
I REALLY dislike the National Geographic Mac OS Screensaver file.  Why oh why Yosemite have you done this.  We spend so much time curating our iPhotos we should be able to enjoy them as a Screen Saver!

  • Problem with itunes after reverting back to mavericks from yosemite

I can't get iTunes to open my library after reverting back to Mavericks from the beta Yosemite. It says "iTunes cannot open this library because it was created with a newer version of iTunes." It then asks if I want to download the latest version and when I click download it takes me to the app store and says that I have the latest version. Which was downloaded when I was running Yosemite. I even downloaded the latest version from the website and it still won't open the library.
    Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your input.
    Bob

I don't know which actual versions you are seeing because I don't have Yosemite.  You're not really supposed  to discuss any issues related to beta test versions on the open forums.  I believe there is an iTunes 12 out in beta which may have been what you were running.  You don't say how you reverted to Mavericks.
The underlying issue is the file called "iTunes Library.itl"  Once you open it with a newer version it can no longer be opened by an earlier version.  However, when you do an upgrade it makes a copy of the older version and you can rename this to make a file which can be opened with the older iTunes. However, this will not reflect any changes made to your library.  Any media added will still be present in the media folder but it will have to be added to the old library.

Beta software testers are advised not to run software on their main computers, and will usually be familiar with how to restore to older versions and the working of computers.  The new public beta with Yosemite is a change in behavior for Apple but of course means a lot of people want to be a tester but don't really know what that means.

  • Since installing yosemite the colors are washed out and whenever I restart the machine it reverts to the yosemite screensaver even though i have set a different desktop picture.

Since i installed yosemite, the some parts of the screen can hardly be seen and whenever I restart the desktop display reverts back to the yosemite screensaver which I have never selected.  Do i need to reinstall or what.

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar where you normally type in a web address, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#If you see a window which says "This might void your warranty!", click the button which says "I'll be careful, I promise" so you can continue with the next step.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com.au/search?q= and then click OK.<br><br>
    #Close the tab
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.

  • Subsequent to Yosemite or updates, my repeating calendar events can not be updated as before. When I update an event (of the repeating event) on my MacBook Pro; its reverts back when I shut it down and come back, and doesn't update other devices?

Subsequent to Yosemite or updates, my repeating calendar events can not be updated as before. When I update an event (of a repeating event) on my MacBook Pro; its reverts back when I shut it down and come back, and doesn't update other devices?
Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know a fix?

This is incredibly frustrating for me too!
I have a repeated monthly event for a discount at a store that is offered on the first Tuesday of every month. So I have a repeated event taking place on the 1st of every month. In the previous month I reset next month's date from the 1st to whatever date falls on the first Tuesday.
But ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I am experiencing the same problem as the original person who posted. The date saves on my calendar but does not sync to my iCloud. When I reboot the computer, the date reverts back to the 1st.
I'm thankful I don't have any events that needed to be tracked because ALL of my previous changes in the past have reverted back to the 1st of the month. I would have been in the same terrible situation as yaz999 in having to manually change every event in previous months.
Why hasn't this bug been fixed yet???!!!

  • If I upgrade to Yosemite, can I revert back if I want?

I would like to try upgrading to Yosemite, but I'm sceptical as there is a lot of bad feedback with it. So if I do, and I find too many problems, can I revert back to Mavericks?

YES you can.  See this thread with 500+ replies
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6604300?tstart=0
However, you rarely - if ever - hear from those who have no problems with Yosemite.
More RAM is always good if your machine can support it.
    Make a backup and upgrade.

  • In iTunes I'm having problems changing the "Media Kind" with a number of playlists in the OPTIONS menu from "music" to "audiobook". After going through the steps, the next time I check the items have reverted back to "music". What step am I missing?

In iTunes I'm having problems changing the "Media Kind" in the OPTIONS menu from "Music" to "Audiobook". After going through the steps, the next time I check, the items have reverted back to "Music". What must I do to save it as an "Audiobook"?

After more digging in the Support section here and some Google work, I turned off iTunes Match and lo and behold!  I can change the media kind to Audiobook!  So, it looks like iTunes Match locked the files up somehow and for some reason.
I went into iTunes Store > iTunes Match > "No, Thanks" to disable it on the local PC.

Do you even know how to nuke and re-set Photoshop's preferences, colorplak?  Your last post seems to reveal that you don't understand what I'm talking about. Here's a link you can click on:
Preference file functions, names, locations | Photoshop CC
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CC Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
Note for Photoshop 14.1 and later: If you use Generator and reset your Preferences, Generator is disabled. Choose Preferences > Plug-ins to turn it back on.
Video: Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.
    Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.
