Yosemite server Profile manager how setup time for password after sleep

Hi,
In Profile Manager in Setup & Privacy is possibility setup password after sleep, but I need setup time period. Is it possible? Because when I push this profile it prevent users to setup this period and when i remove this profile (whole payload for Security & Privacy) it still prevent users to change this two setting.

Hi CodyCodes,
Just discovered the same issue today as well.  Further complicating things, the screensaver timeout setting in Login Window doesn't apply to Profile Manager clients no matter what the setting.  This was reproduced and confirmed by the Apple Tech I was working with.  He's submitted the bug to their engineering staff.  I requested that he ask them why there is no setting for password on sleep or screensaver.  Hopefully this is resolved soon, as this feature is 99% of the reason we're implementing Profile Manager to begin with.
Cheers

  • Ask for password after sleep but not after screen saver

Hi guys!! I have been using a mid 2009 Macbook pro since mid 2009 and obviously am thoroughly satisfied!! I have OS 10.7.4 Lion.
A small glitch that has been nagging me lately is that I have my screensaver set to on before my book goes to sleep. But I don't want it to ask for a password after it comes back from the screensaver. I want it to ask for password only when it comes back from sleep coz I don't shut the system down more than once a month, so only flip the screen shut when my day ends.
So essentially is there a way I can make it as for a password ONLY after it wakes from sleep and NOT after screensaver?

I'm not entirely in love w/ the idea of having to move all my data over to the other account. I might just deal w/ not having the screen saver ask for the pass. One other bit of info that may be helpful: This is the second time having this problem. The first time, it got fixed after the most recent intel osx update. I figured that apple had found a bug and fixed it. Then, w/o shuting down my comp, it failed to ask again. Is there any applications that could be messing this up? Any widgets that might do it?? If not, is there any apps that can switch all my pics/movies, etc over to the other account?

  • RMBP not asking for password after sleep

I have a concern with the security of my Macbook Pro Retina because everytime I put it to sleep, it almost always doesn't ask me for a password.  I'd say 9/10 times it will just go straight to the desktop without asking me for my password.
I have tried different ways of putting it to sleep:
    Apple Menu > Sleep
    Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Power/Eject
    Close the lid
Once in a while, I will see the login window flash on the screen quickly but then it completely gets skipped (without me entering a password) and it goes to straight to the desktop.
Also, not sure if it is related but when it skips the login screen my computer becomes sort of unresponsive.  I can move the mouse and open/close windows but I can't use the keyboard to type anything.  For example, if I have Chrome previously open I can (sort of) interact with it but I can't type a URL in the address bar.  Other things won't work like the clicking menu bar or clicking the Apple Menu.  I thought there was a rogue app open but I can't click the Apple Menu to get to Force Quit and I can't use Alt+⌘+Esc.
Basically I just have to force the computer to restart.  It's annoying because I have things I'm working on at the moment - hence the reason I only put the computer to sleep in the first place.
    Here are my current settings:
Note that I am on an account with admin access but there are also other admin accounts which I think is why "Require password immediately" is prechecked but not editable.
Wondering if anyone has experienced this before and have any ideas/solutions for me.
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks!  I've resorted to doing this.  It's a small annoyance of having to type out my username along with my password but at least I know for sure it's locked.
I actually played around with a few things and I thought I fixed it.
I went to Users > username > Library > Preferences.  Inside com.apple.screensaver.plist, I thought this was causing it
And I saw on another thread someone suggested to delete these files:
    com.apple.screensaver.plist
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
I tried it and I thought it worked because I put my laptop to sleep and the login screen showed up!  However, after leaving it in sleep overnight, the problem came back =(

  • How to use Lion Server Profile Manager to require password after screensaver

Our Company is upgrading to Lion server. One of our requirments for network security is to require a password to wake the computer from sleep or screensaver. In SL Server you would add a key to the com.apple.screensaver entery in workgroup manager.
In Profile Manager in Lion server there is a custom setting section and I have tried adding a key there but it does not seem to work. Can anyone offer some help on how to put the require password to wake from sleep or screensaver in Profile Manager so the setting gets pushed out?

  • Access Mac Mini Server (profile management) through reverse proxy

    Hi,
Newbie in Mac's world and yet trying to make it more complicated as it is.
As we recently (last month) decided to equip our sales force with iPads, they were configured through Apple Configurator tool running on a dedicated Mac Mini Mountain Lion.
Now, I'd be keen in moving this configuration to the Profile Manager, part of the OSx Server plugin. So far so good.
Problem is the following : another web server is already on the LAN using both 80 and 443 ports. So all incoming traffic on those ports was routed to this other server. As Mac Mini Server default http/s ports may not be altered, I installed a reverse proxy server (Oracle VM - Ubuntu 12.04LTS - pound), configured to deal differently traffic on those ports according to the domain name (host) of the web request (header). Each 'local' server has been allocated a domain name. Just to be clear, traffic is now routed by the WAN/LAN router, for those ports, towards the reverse proxy, configured to reroute the traffic to the correct destination.
So far so good, it works like a charm, except... as soon as we enter https protocol on Mac Mini Server Profile Manager.
Access from an iDevice to the Mac Mini Server Profile Manager login page is fine, but as soon as password is confirmed, safari is pending and finally a message 'An internal serer error occured. Please try later again' appears.
Looking to both reverse proxy system log and Mac Mini profilemanager.log files to trace the problem, the following lines are produced at this particular moment :

I guess the '302 Found' is causing or explaining the problem.
I agree this might not be a Mac issue, so I still knock your doors hoping some of you could at least give a hint for what to search for !
If the pound configuration file is of interest, just ask, but this is pretty trivial, saying basically listen these protocols (http/https) on these ports (80/443) and according to Header content (check destination host) and reroute packet to LAN device (with given LAN IP address).
As the default port(s) of the Mac Mini Web Services may not be altered (so far I know), I guess I am stuck using 80 and 443 anyway.
Maybe should I invest time in changing my other apache server ports to some more exotic 8080 or 88 or whatever so Mac Mini Server Profile Manager default ports 80 and 443 are maintained and can be easily and directly rerouted to my Mac server without any reverse proxy along the way.
Thanks in advance for your help

    HI All,
i'm also using reverse proxy technique to publish my server to the internet. The ip is used by twice domains. The problem is by using the profile manager
after login it redirects the url to the Local Area network addresse instead to the domain.
How to configure this on OS X Server and the Profile Manager Service?
    Kind Regards

  • VPP Distribution issues with OSX Server Profile Manager

Hi, I have a new issue with my OSX 10.9.5 Server. I use VPP to distribute apps to users devices, when I would add a new user I would send them an invitation message through /profilemanager . All was working well until recenetly , the message still arrives in the users mailbox however when you click the "sign in" link on the "receive apps and books from xxxxx" email instead of opening through the Mac App store app it now opens Safari and connects to the profile manager server , any ideas ? it never has done this before and although I thought it was a new feature or method I can not seem to resolve the issue.

Hi if when you are redirected back to your Mac Server you enter the user name and password of the user you are trying to receive VPP apps for i.e the Open Directory credentials it will then open the App Store providing the credentials are correctly entered so it looks like an additional layer of security. The process is click on the link in the VPP invite email, this takes you to your Mac Server profile manager, log on with your OD account, App store then opens on your Mac like it used to.

  • How to get remaining time for baton after setting timeOut property

    Hello,
Is it possible to get the remaining time for baton after setting timeOut, or do I have to maintain a separate Timer for that?
Been following this excellent tutorial here http://tv.adobe.com/watch/adc-presents/create-shared-forms-in-livecycle-collaboration-serv ice/

Thanks Nigel, before reading your reply, I came up with something like this, but it seems extending the Baton class is not enough, as I would need my own BatonProperty as well that uses this extended Baton class...
Also attempted to get some help here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7116814/actionscript3-lccs-how-to-access-property-paren t-class-protected-var/7116882#7116882
Could this be made into a feature request for Baton and BatonProperty, se we could easily get the remaining time please?   I guess I can wait for a future release.

In Yosemite version of Numbers, how keyboard shortcut for "Merge Cells" can be created?

OK, I've been doing this since CS2 with no need for a script. To hide guides and show preview...
    1) Go to 'Keyboard Shortcuts'
    2) Go to 'Product Area - Tools'. Yes, you'd think it would be in Views! But the buttons for this is at the bottom of the Tool Bar.
    3) Go to 'Commands: Toggle view setting between default and preview'
    4) Click your cursor inside 'New Shortcut' and hit the key you want or type it in. I choose the unused F2 key
    5) Click the 'Assign' button and you are set. Hit the key to switch back and forth.
As for your mouse Zoom, use Power Zoom as described above or just hold down the Alt/Option button in 'Hand' mode and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. Not one step but it works!
Now you won't miss Quark at all!

  • MacPro: How to prevent scanning for monitor after sleep?

    Hi everybody,
So here's the deal: When I power up my MacPro or wake it up from sleep, it seems to do a quick search for connected displays and activates only the DVI output(s) which have a monitor connected to them. While I understand that behavior at boot time, I find it really troublesome when waking the MacPro from sleep.
    Here's why:
I rarely turn off the MacPro completely, I much rather put it to sleep when I'm away. What I do, however, is to turn off the huge 30'' display that drains a lot of power when left on. When I come back, I just have to turn the display on before turning on the MacPro and everything is fine.
However, there's one scenario where I systematically get caught and that's really... really annoying! It happens in combination with the EyeTV Software. When I'm away by the time a scheduled show starts, the EyeTV wakes up the MacPro and starts recording. That's exactly what it's supposed to do. However, since the monitor is turned off by the time the MacPro wakes up, it won't recognize it and the graphics card won't send any signal! So when I come back to the computer and turn on the screen, It says "No Signal". The solution at this point is putting the MacPro to sleep briefly and resume it with the display turned on this time. However, putting the Mac to sleep while EyeTV is recording a show causes the recording to be rendered useless.
Is there a way to prevent the MacPro from rescanning for monitors after sleep? Or maybe there's a key combination to let it rescan manually?
As far as I remember, it didn't do the rescan-monitors-after-sleep thing under Tiger, but not sure about that...
Any help would be highly appreciated!
    MasOS X: 10.5.2 Leopard
Mac Hardware: MacPro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 3GHz (from mid-2007)

    Greetings,
    Mike

What I do, however, is to turn off the huge 30'' display that drains a lot of power when left on.
The display should go to "Active-off mode" (amber power light) when the computer sleeps. This uses less than 2 watts.
    <http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/3008WFP/en/ug/about.htm#Product% 20Features>
If you do want the monitor off (e.g. to save power while EyeTV is recording), you could use a DVI Detective

  • Ask for password after screen lock not working!?

Ask for password after screen lock not working? It used to work before mavericks, each time my computer display sleep I'm asked for the password immediately. Now it never asks for it?

    From 2008 MacRumors discussion:
SOLUTION: Browse to Home>Library>Preferences and drag com.apple.systempreferences.plist to the desktop.
Caused by a corrupt user preferences file. On restart, you may find user settings have defaulted. Set up as desired.
    Worked for me.

Yep, that erases all saved WiFi passwords. Means you'll have to input them again when you join each network. There's no way to "just add them back", if that's what you're asking, nor can they be retrieved anywhere.

  • How to write .CSV file to import device placeholder into Lion Server Profile Manager?

I'm now using Mac Mini with Lion Server (10.7.4). I've already setup a server with Profile Manager to manage some iOS devices.
Now I need to add many devices into Profile Manager. From some articles, (for example http://my.safaribooksonline.com/book/-/9780132778879/chapter-4dot-managing-accou nts/ch04lev1sec3), I found that I can use .CSV file to import many device placeholders at a time. So I create a .CSV file "devices.csv" with the content as the following:
    iPhone001,12345ABCD12,,,
Then I import this file to "Devices" in Profile Manager, but in vain. It says that the placeholder is invalid.
If there's any one could provide some exemples? Thanks a lot.

    Hi Nien-Yi Ho,
A little late, but perhaps someone else can benefit ...
The way I did this, is:
    - create an empty Excel spreadsheet
    - add 5 headers in the first row: DeviceName, SerialNumber, IMEI, MEID, UDID
    - in the next rows add your devices and specs (for the iPhones and iPads I only added DeviceName, SerialNumber and IMEI specs)
    - IMPORTANT: save the file as a Windows CSV file.
If you import the CSV file now, all should go well.

  • Lion Server Profile Manager Configuration

    Hi Guys,
Currently have been testing Lion Server and Profile Manager Configuration.
    So Far Have setup
Lion with Server App and Server Admin Tools
Configured Open Directory Master and enabled SSL on LDAP
Once Configured OD has created a CA Certificate can use for Profile Manager
Have Enabled in Server.app Web and Profile manager
In SSL Certificate Configuration have set CA Certificate for Web and Enabled Apple push notifications with my apple ID
In Profile Manager Enabled Device Management and Enabled Sign configuration profiles and selected CA Open Directory Certificate Created when setting up OD Master.
On Server Originally could install Trust Profile OK and Enroll Server OK with no issues, but on any other 10.7 Devices could install Trust Profile OK but would always say unsigned and Enroll would never work or just hang.
Now Since Played around with settings on 10.7 Server can no longer enroll but trust OK.
    Questions have is
For SSL and Profile Manager to work properly as well as Certificates do you require to purchase a proper SSL Certificate or can we use the OD Master Certificate that gets created. All we are testing is on the Local LAN so don't want to get a SSL certificate from the internet.
Also why cannot 10.7 clients trust profile and enroll Devices Properly? How do I get this working properly?
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Shane

I'm looking for a solution that doesn't involve reinstalling Mountain Lion if that is at all possible. It seems to me like it should, as that's not so much a solution as just starting over. If you need more from Console, just let me know. Also, I have tried all the threads that relate to restarting, rebooting, or reconfiguring Device Manager and none of them work; at the end I still get the message "No such file or directory."
    Thanks for the help!

Finally figured the problem out on my own. Thank you to the apple support community for all your help. Full story, I installed OSX Server and then changed the Service Data location to an external hard drive. After that the Profile Manager immediately stopped working. Several reinstallations later and still not working. The problem was not even a little related to /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/share/devicemgr/backend/wipeDB .sh, which is the answer everyone else on the internet was giving. The problem was that Profile Manager was no longer installed/installing for whatever reason. So, I went in and reinstalled just Profile Manager from the Server.app and now everything is working great. If things stop working I'll update this post. This is how:
To begin, delete /private/var/devicemgr. This file is created during the install and if it already exists, the install won't work.
Open terminal and copy sudo /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/System/Library/ServerSetup/CommonE xtras/80-devicemgrcommon.sh
That is all I had to do and Profile Manager works great for me now. Hope this helps someone.
