Yosemite showing grossly incorrect SSD Capacity of 140.75TB

Hi guys, this is the first time I am posting at the support community. Have owned several macbooks in the past but this time round something stumped me.
I have a late 2011 15" Macbook Pro (2.2GHz), 128GB SSD (Samsung P810, TRIM enabled).
Been using this SSD for a few months now and it has not given me any problems so far. But today I saw it display 140.75TB of free space on my main partition, which is obviously wrong.
I have tried the following:
1. Full system restart
2. Toggled Time Machine Settings
3. Reverted back to a earlier point via Time Machine.
4. Repaired disk permissions and verified all disks.
The problem still persists. I am wondering if that is something I need to worry about,or is it a sign that my SSD is failing?
Thanks in advance.

This is an apparent bug in 10.10.3. Other posts have reported the same problem on regular hard drives, so it isn't an SSD problem.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • 30gb video ipod showing incorrect storage capacity

    Hi,
    I have a 30gb ipod. When I connect the ipod & open itunes or ipod updater, the ipod appears with an incorrect storage capacity.
    The updater shows all other information correctly, except for Capacity, which shows at 65.0GB
    With nothing on the ipod, Itunes shows used: 4.49GB, free: 58.99GB. If I try to transfer any files I get a message saying that there is not enough free space to transfer the files.
    I have restored to factory settings, re-installing all software, changing usb ports etc but nothing seems to have helped...
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Matt.

  • HT4863 iCloud Mail is showing incorrect storage capacity

    My Mailbox is currently showing 3.1 GB capacity, and is causing huge trouble in my iCloud backup and operations in several of my iDevices including my mac.
    When I open my iCloud account, I've ensured I deleted majority all of my previous email and is left with less than 1 MB worth of emails. I've also emptied my trash bin and cleared both Junk Folder and Sent Items.
    Even after all the clean-up the email capacity never moved and remained the same?
    Is there a bug?
    Can I just delete this email account in iCloud and re-create it to avoid this HUGE 3.1 GB it is misreporting?

    You only have 56.6 GB available to you. The difference between that and the 64 GB advertised capacity is taken up by:
    The operating system since you can't use that for storage
    and how GB is advertised and used/reported by the operating system. See:
    How OS X and iOS report storage capacity - Apple Support
    The update did not change anything except likely reducing the capacity by 10 or so MB since update typically add things and thus takes more storage for the operating system

  • Yosemite showing only Guest login

    Hi
    I installed Yosemite on a new SSD last week and it has been working well so far.
    However, it hanged today (nothing moving, not even the spinning beach ball of death). So, I did a hard reboot. On restarting, it shows me a screen to unlock FileVault full disk encryption with my user. After entering my password, it goes to the login screen, but here it only shows me a Guest user.
    The guest user is preselected and has a password field focussed underneath it.
    How do I log into my user?
    Thanks,
    Arunjit

    Thanks for the tip.
    I was hoping to not have to reinstall the OS again, but that's the step that worked.
    (I didn't try creating the new admin user.. I had already started the re-install; I'll try this the next time it happens)
    Nothing different in safe mode.
    There were some permissions that needed changing, but that didn't fix the issue.
    I've also switched the login window to name and password, instead of a list of user names. If this happens again, at least I'd have a place to put in my username and password.
    Thanks!

  • After I updated to iOS 7, my iCloud account is showing the incorrect email address for my Apple ID but will not allow me to change it- it's gray and I can't click on it. How do I fix this?

    After I updated to iOS 7, my iCloud account is showing the incorrect email address for my Apple ID but will not allow me to change it- it's gray and I can't click on it. How do I fix this?

    If you change your email, you do not need to "change" your AppleID. Just edit your email(s) on your Apple ID by logging in to your AppleID account. You should always use the same AppleID for  Apple Services (iCloud, iTunes etc) and multiple ID will cause problems and confusion in the future.
    You can manage your Apple ID here:

    Hi there,

    IE6....

    all the default blue, sometimes when you hover over them they turn
    pink, sometimes blue, sometimes completely gray, the colors are all
    messed up...
    But it's fine in other browsers..... Please advice, thanks

    Even if it would be included as SSI your markup will still be wrong.
    if your SSI is in the body, that means you will have a extra tittle tag and meta tag in the body of your page. Same would count for script and <link> tags.
    If the SSI was in the head. Than your whole menu bar markup would also be in the <head> which isn't valid either.
    Also, you menu is on the right side because:
    ul.MenuBarVertical ul {
    cursor:default;
    font-size:100%;
    left:100em;
    list-style-type:none;
    margin:-5% 0 0 101%;
    overflow:visible;
    padding:0;
    position:absolute;
    top:0;
    width:169px;
    z-index:1020;
    You say it needs to be there due to the 100em left
    For the underlines, in the ul.MenuBarVertical a css selector add the following property;
    text-decoration:none;

  • [Gnome] battery-applet showing only percentage of capacity

    Hello guys,
    is there a possibility to change the battery-applet in the panel to let it display also the remaining time instead of only showing the percentage of capacity that is left?

    Well first off to answer your question about Apple replacing the battery or not, I don't think they will. They consider batteries to be consumables and therefore you must keep up with the cost of them for the most part.
    My question to you is though do you often level your machine plugged in? If so this could be the source of your problem. Leaving machines plugged in and not letting the battery drain in time hurts the battery and decreases the health of the battery.
    One of the main symptoms is when the battery will no longer hold a change. If you look in system profiler you under power you should be able to check the battery health. This should give you a good idea.
    For example I have 416 cycles right now and still get 3.25 hours of use on one charge and I have a health of 95% at the moment.
    It is possible you just have a dead battery though.

  • HT204053 My Apple ID shows up incorrectly on my Iphone

    My Apple ID shows up incorrectly on my IPhone - Is there a way to get that corrected?  Everything is correct when i check it on my computer at Apple.com.

    Showing up incorrectly in what way ? If you've updated your account and it's showing its previous details on your phone then tap on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and log out of it and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the phone.
    If you mean that you've created a new account and it's showing the old account when trying to update your old apps then it will - content is tied to the account that originally download it, and only that account can download updates to its apps.
    If you mean something else ... ?

  • PO output message (Fax) showing status- incorrectly processed.

    Hello,
    I'm unable to send the PO output through fax.
    Processing status shows- "2 incorrectly processed".
    I checked the fax number and necessary configs and are correct. Moreover there are two messages triggered for same Po. one is processed while the other one is getting error.
    Can anybody suggest what might be the issue?

    Hi Nilesh,
    Can you see from SOST how many attempts were made to send the fax? Sounds like the fax number was busy at the time, preventing the fax from being sent. If 2 faxes were created from the same PO, were they both going to the same number? If so, this may be the cause as both would be trying to dial the same number at the same time.
    If you try and reprocess the message from SOST does it go through? If so, this is definitely an issue linked to the fax number being busy.

  • Upgrade my SSD capacity

    Hi everyone,
         I would like to upgrade my MacbookAir SSD capacity from 128GB to 256GB. Do you guys know how much apple will charge me for  this upgrade?
    Cheers

    Apple won't perform this upgrade but you can buy an aftermarket SSD from OWC. Make sure you select the proper computer model since each MBA update has used a different drive. You can look at a video there on the site to see how to perform the upgrade yourself. It is quite easy to perform but it can void the computer's warranty.

  • Samsung IDE HDD shows less than total capacity

    Hi Everyone,
    It's been over a year without any major issues with my PB which is nearly 5 yrs old. However, recently I bought a Samsung (Model: HM160HC) 160GB IDE Hard Disk for back-up. Funnily, it showed me a total capacity of 128GB when I connected it through a External FW Enclosure. This is what it showed me on Disk Utility application before I could format the drive.
    The vendor took the drive back, formatted it on a windows machine and gave it back to me where it showed me 160GB total capacity. But when I formatted it (Mac OS Extended, Journaled) though Disk Utility, it once again showed me a total capacity of 128GB and an available space of appx 127GB.
    What am I missing here? Need some help very badly, very soon...

    Hello eww,
    Thanks a ton for your reply. Unfortunately I have two FW Enclosures with identical Chipset and both show 128GB available space. And I will not be able to figure this one out, till I lay my hands on another FW or USB enclosure.
    Having said that, when I put the Samsung HDD in the very same FW enclosure which I have after the hard disk came to me MS-Dos formatted, it did show 160GB. I have 2 questions now:
    1. How can the same Firweire casing with the same drive inside which is wondows/MS-Dos formatted (on a windows machine) recognize full capacity of 160Gb and when I do a Mac OS Extended-Journaled formatting to the same drive inside the same casing the capacity shown is 128GB?
    2. If I decide to put the same Samsung HDD inside my laptop, boot from my external back-up drive, format the internal, will it show full capacity?
    Looking forward to a workable solution...
