  • Installing vmware failure

I have windows 8.1 with all latest updates, intel I7 4820 quad, 3.7 ghz, 32 gigabytes ddr5 ram.
I recently purchased the latest version of VMware, version 11.  Uninstalled version 6 which was working ok, but when I tried to install version 11 I got the error, "have detected a prior version of VMware, click below to uninstall." Doing
so produced the error , "uninstall can not proceed, does not have the permissions to access folder" Checking showed the previous version had already been uninstalled, and no files were left in programs 86 folder, or in any other folder. After going
through applications folders, local, roaming, etc I then went through the register to delete any entries that might have missed as is usual when uninstalling an application. I ran sfc/scannow several times, retrying to install the new version afterwards. The
installer now starts to install and goes almost all the way before stopping with "warning 1909, cannot create shortcut virtual network editor.lnk Verify destination folder exists and that you can access it. Then another pops up   warning
error 1909 "cannot create shortcut vmwork station.lnk Verify destination folder exists and that you can access it. Then "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. the
error code is 2902" I have downloaded the package 4 different times, all with the same error. And also tried different versions of the program with the same problem. This started out with permissions problems, and I have taken steps to cure those, and
even contacted the program authors, and was told it is a Microsoft installer problem. Anyone out there ever ran into this one or similar problem and have any suggestions I haven't tried yet?  I was referred here from another Microsoft forum, and have
another update. I have run "sfc /scannow" quite a few times now. Each time supposedly find a few corrupted files and corrected them. The original errors had to do with permissions, and after much searching, reading, and applying suggested solutions
seemed to have taken care of the permission problem. Just reran "sfc" and now I have the permission problem back. I have done everything I can to correct it, but the installer still errors on "not enough permissions to access folders".
I have downloaded the package 4 different times to preclude a corrupted download. Applied every suggestion received, and everything short of reinstalling window. I have many programs installed and most are paid applications that make it very difficult
to reregister after reinstalling, especially without having to repay for the application when doing so. So reinstalling windows would be a last resort. Any help would be appreciated. I have used "take ownership", changed permissions on almost every
folder on my computer that is involved with the windows OS, etc.

    MeipoXu;
No, the VMware package will not install, the error messages are:
"warning 1909, cannot create shortcut virtual network editor.lnk Verify destination folder exists and that you can access it." and: " warning error 1909 "cannot create shortcut vmwork station.lnk Verify destination folder exists
and that you can access it. Then "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. the error code is 2902"
Have already created another administrator account with all privileges, and same results when trying to install VMware. Package was redownloaded 4 times in case of corrupted package, I even used the same package and installed it on "windows 10 preview"
where it works fine (but this is temporary until win 10 is officially released). All folders and files involved have been given full permissions, used "take ownership" also on everything involved. Used the tool you suggested previously, it found
nothing wrong and exited with no corrections performed. Other than reinstalling windows 8.1 with full fresh install, I see no answer to this. I do not want to do that as I have too many applications installed that I have paid for. Every time I do reinstall
windows(in the past) I lose some of these applications because the authors want me to repurchase the application in order to get another activation code.
I also have been posting on the VMware site the same as I have here. Their official view of this is it is a windows installer problem and not VMware caused. The people there have also been trying to help me as best as they can. I appreciate both sites and
the people on each that have tried to help.
I have windows defender only installed and deactivate it each time I try to install the package. I'm stumped!
One word forward, when I come across a problem I use Google (internet searching) all forums from companies involved and any other sources that might possibly be helpful. If all these do not produce any answer, then and only then will I open a post on
involved web sites asking for help. I don't post all these efforts as it would take up too much space on the forum, so please bear with me on this.

  • Yosemite download failure

    Hi anyone
I live on a narrowboat and rely on a 3G Huwaei device for my internet - frequently over 5 Meg so not bad but a bit variable - last week I was downloading Yosemite which is obviously huge and when I got to around 4 Gig downloaded, I ran out of allowance and have had to wait 7 days for it to kick in again
Is there anyway I can "pick up where I left off" on the download or do I have to start over (and start eating into my monthly data allowance again big time???? Cheers

I have the same problem....how do we resolve this?

  • Yosemite instillation failure

    Dear apple community,
I've downloaded Yosemite on my mid 2010 i Mac with hope to upgrade my OS X 10.9.5 software version. The yosemite seems to be downloaded  on my Mac but whenever I click on the icon go through  "Agreement " section , and wait for restart it gives me an error message saying that it can not properly quit the program to restored. Thus the whole instillation failed number of times.
    Please, help.
    Thank

  • Error 150:30 CS4 Web premium - Yosemite upgrade

I'm trying to recover from a Yosemite upgrade failure on my MacBook Pro. I used the Migration Assistant app to restore my Applications folder. When I launch any product from the suite, I get Error 150:30. I can't use the installer disk for CS4 Web Premium. I've attempted downloading it from the support site several times and it always fails. When I attempt to relaunch download in Safari, I get a message that I don't have permission to download the CS4 Web Premium installer.

    Michael,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not running Yosemite. I'm still running Mavericks 10.9.5. CS4 worked fine in it. I'll try the cleaner and attempt another download.
    Aaron
UPDATE: CS4 Installer doesn't work on Mavericks, although the apps were running before the failed Yosemite update. I've downloaded the installer but it doesn't launch. It behaves like a folder, showing the installer contents. Here is a screen shot.
UPDATE 2: The support reply was NOT helpful and didn't solve my problem. I'm not running Yosemite, if this post was read correctly.
I've downloaded CS4 Web Premium several times and it still doesn't work on 10.9.5.

  • OS 10.10 (Yosemite ) locked-up  What do I do?

    18-Oct2014
I have had serious problems installing Yosemite on a new Mac Pro, a 2009 MacBookPro and a 2007 iMac.
At the moment, On my very new Mac Pro, I see the big white Macintosh icon with a slider underneath  which shows 1/3 progress in starting up.   I have no idea what to do to fix this.   The computer seems to be frozen in the final stages of installing Yosemite.
Similar things happened when I installed IOS 8 on my iPhone 5.  What is happening to Apple?
Anyway, what do I do to fix this Yosemite install failure?

Force Quit iPhoto, click the Apple Symbol in the upper left, click Force Quit... choose iPhoto and Force Quit it.

  • Yosemite - Sleep Wake Failure - MBP Late 2013

    Hi,
I have the following MBP which is currently running Yosemite V10.10.2
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
Ever since I upgraded to Yosemite I get persistent crashes when the machine wakes from sleeping. It's very intermittent, sometimes it'll be fine for days and others it will happen a few times per day. Either way it's very frustrating.
It results in the laptop simply being switched off when I reopen the lid and I have to start again by pressing the power button. Or it has rebooted already and is back at the login prompt. Again, there is no clear pattern when either of those happens though.
The applications I run every day and are usually open when it happens are Chrome and VMWare Fusion 7 running a single VM with Windows8. I also have iPhoto and Eclipse open more often than not.
I've searched the forum and a few people seem to be experiencing similar but not exactly the same symptoms. A search on the reported code doesn't return any results. I've tried a PRAM reset but I get the same behaviour.
Is there any way of diagnosing exactly what's causing this?
    Many thanks,
    Lee

  • After upgrading to Yosemite (I don't have iPhoto anymore, only PHOTOS) my pictures will not import from my iPad or iPhone 5s or any picture from web, it shows "Database Error: failured to persist version"

After upgrading to Yosemite (I don't have iPhoto anymore, only PHOTOS) my pictures will not import from my iPad or iPhone 5s or any picture from web, it shows "Database Error: failured to persist version".  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Sorry,
Yes, the error message is exactly like that  ("Database error: failured to persist version")
No photos will import at all.  I use USB to import from iPhone 5s or iPad 2.
About the difference?  iPhoto and Photos .  Are there two softwares?
I also will like to merge and/or synchronize all my photos I had saved to iCloud backups, Macbook Pro,  iPhone 5s and iPad hard drives using iPhoto.  It's call iPhoto library.  At one point I turned off streaming.
    Thanks again Larry HN.

  • Mail attachment assertion failure Yosemite - Mail app bug

    Hi,
I am facing a very annoying issue with Mail app. Since the upgrade to Yosemite, I am unable to save attachments with the "save all" button and the drag and drop is not working properly (sometime freezing the mail app for a minute). I am using Yosemite 10.10.2
I tried every fix I have read online, such as :

    Hi,
I am facing a very annoying issue with Mail app. Since the upgrade to Yosemite, I am unable to save attachments with the "save all" button and the drag and drop is not working properly (sometime freezing the mail app for a minute). I am using Yosemite 10.10.2
I tried every fix I have read online, such as :
    - rebuild mailboxes
    - repair permissions
    - remove 3 enveloppe index files in .../V2/MailData
    - reindex spotlight
    - run the command to repair permissions & reset home directory permissions and ACL (from this post : Mavericks Mail "Save Attachement..." doesn't work)

  • VMware SQL 2008R2 bcp error - SQLState = 08001, NativeError = 0 Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Client 10.0] Client unable to establish connection due to prelogin failure

Can someone help me resolve this error?   Thanks
    Windows Server 2008 R2  Standard SP1 64-bit -  SQL Server 2008R2 Standard 64-bit
    VMware vCenter Server Version 5.1.0
    SQLState = 08001, NativeError = 0
Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Client unable to establish connection due to prelogin failure
    bcp program:
    bcp SYM.dbo.ACCOUNT in "D:\Data\SQLExtract\EXTRACT.ACCOUNT" -f"D:\Data\SQLCommands\FMT.ACCOUNT" -S DEV-DATA\TEST\ -T -oSYMLOAD.LOG Type SYMLOAD.LOG >> SYMLOAD.LOG.CUMULATIVE
The bcp program executes successfully on a local instance of SQL Server.

The error has nothing to do with BCP as such, but it is a connection problem. That is, for some reason you cannot connect to your instance from the VM. I would exect that you face a similar problem if you tried SSMS.
It could be a firewall issue, but prelogin suggests that you reach the instance. But possibly you don't come far enough for the login failure to be recorded. Possibly the instance is not configured to audit login failures.
The message you would see would be similar to
    2010-08-18 14:11:30.91 Logon       Error: 17809, Severity: 20, State: 3
Possibly followed by a a line that details the message. The error number may be different.

  • VMWare Fusion partition software doesn't work in Yosemite, why?

VMWare Fusion partition software doesn't work in Yosemite, why?

    Very outdated. You need V7
And FYI, this software has nothing to do with partitioning, it neither creates nor needs one.

  • VMware - I cannot logon to Windows 7 after upgrade to Yosemite

After upgrading to Yosemite, I cannot logon to Windows under VMware Fusion 7.0.  It was working fine prior to the upgrade. The message I get when logging onto Window is,
"The User Profile Service service failed the logon.
The User profile cannot be loaded."
I'm running on a Mac Pro Mid 2010 and Yosemite itself is otherwise working fine.  VMware was not running during the upgrade and re-start of the Mac.  I'm stuck and need to get this resolved any help is appreciated.

I found the solution, I would have found it much earlier but just too tired and stressed from the week I guess
Anyway it is NOT a Yosemite or even VMware issue, it figures it's just a good old Windows issue that dates back to at least 2010, why am I not surprised.   Probably as Windows was booting up and giving me the logon it was running anti-virus in the background and the user profile was corrupted, which means that Windows as usual was also not displaying a precise error message, just one that was close enough for Microsoft work.
The solution is easy especially if you can handle booting to Safe Mode and using Regedit, easier still if you have two user profiles in Windows even if one is just a duplicate of emergency uses, say like this.  The details can be found here, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215
I was up and running within two minutes.  Whew.

  • Vmware server: revert - vmdb failure insufficient permission

quick question to people running vmware-server. I installed it from AUR. It works fine except for Revert (Snapshot works or to be more precise it gives no error).

    Hi
Don't know if you got this fixed but I just had the same error. A bit of googling found this:
    http://www.vmware.com/community/message … eID=375968
which then led to max connection errors which was fixed by this:
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=34594
    All seems ok now.
Your clues seems to have no sense for me.
First link point to a problem with vmware and pam, second to some problems with syslog-ng.
I don't know how it is relevant to problems with vmware's snapshot.
Anyone has an idea? As I have the same problem as waldek_a
