Yosemite wifi issue.

So... I messed with the Launch Daemon folder on my Mac, and after I was done, I pasted all the Daemons I removed back into the folder. But now, I am unable to connect to new Wifi routers (there is no option), and I also cannot turn off wifi, it is always on. EtreChecker says these are crashing on the bottom and that is what I'm suspecting. Thanks for the help!

Hello Henfish,
That is not good. I would recommend reinstalling OS X Yosemite because if you could not undo what you just have done, then it would be a good idea to have a fresh version. When you do this, it will not erase anything and just install OS X on top of what you already have.

  • Any other troubleshooting steps for Yosemite WIFI issues?

I've spent several hours this weekend at my friend's house trying to fix the WIFI issues on her Macbook. I had installed some software on it recently (Chrome, Plex, Teamviewer) and I removed all of it just in case there was a conflict (Plex being the only thing I could think might be causing an issue with the Plex server running.) I then realized she had upgraded to Yosemite and found out there seems to be a lot of WIFI issues going on. I've come across several blogs with troubleshooting steps and here is what I've tried so far:
-Reset the modem to factory settings
-Toggled the checkbox to authenticate changes in networks
    -Renewed DHCP lease
    -Disabled Bluetooh
-Removed network configuration and preference files (and later restored the backups I had of them)
-Created a new WIFI location with a custom DNS
    -Unloaded/reloaded discoveryd files
I wasn't able to get any kind of WIFI connection between removing the network configuration and preference files and unloading / reloading the discoveryd files but then I plugged into the ethernet after reading there were some conflicts with Apple applications so I re-installed Chrome and the WIFI started working again for a little bit. I am typing this from my Macbook still running Mavericks on the same WIFI connection so I'm fairly sure this incident in 99% Yosemite and nothing else on the computer. I'm willing to try any other intermediate troubleshooting. She needs her computer a lot this week (works from home and has a big event this weekend) so I am going to hold off on the fresh OSX Yosemite install or an attempt to downgrade to Mavericks again - fingers crossed the update is out before that becomes a necessity.
    Thanks for reading!

  • OSX Yosemite wifi issues

    Running:
    Model Name: MacBook Air
      Model Identifier: MacBookAir6,2
      Processor Name: Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed: 1.7 GHz
    Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25)
The constant wifi problems from switching locations and having the wifi drop are causing major issues.  I have to shutdown wifi then restart ever time I change locations in my office.
If I move more than 10 ft. (switching wifi hubs) my wifi will look like its working but I actually get no connectivity.
Since this has been months since the

This is SOO annoying. Mavericks had its issues with JUMBO Frames that was never fixed but this is crazy now. Last night I upgraded to Yosemite from Mavericks. Now I can see my 5Ghz SSID but only have internet for 30 seconds at best. I don't even see my 2.4GHz network at all. If I toggle Wifi on and off I see the 2.4 for a moment and then gone. I removed all favorite wifi's and manually configured the 2.4 and will not connect. Removed that one and tried 5Ghz and same 30 seconds. I have done all updates, I have restarted numerous times and no go!
I did a fresh (clean) install. I formatted the HDD and had the original Lion install by default that came with the unit. It booted, had internet fine and then upgraded straight to Yosemite and immediately no wifi. Can anyone say if they did a clean install but from Mavericks and upgraded to Yosemite with same results??
What kills me is that apple doesn't seem to be giving ANY information out, no acknowledgement, and certainly no fix yet. I feel more and more like I am purchasing Microsoft Products where I am beta testing. If apple knew in Beta releases this was an issue with ALOT of people, they should not have released this yet! My laptop is my business and I am now tethered to a cable for everything!
Bluetooth disabled made no difference for me. Also I found that if I disable wifi while using my ethernet it will disconnect connectivity from ethernet until I unplug and replug...
APPLE  ??? I guess I should just make some apple juice? or can I get some lemons??

  • I reinstall the Yosemite due to the wifi issue, when finished, the iMovie was not installed, I try to download it from app store, but it's not free. How can I get iMovie back?

I'm using a mid 2014 13" rmbp. I reinstall the Yosemite due to the wifi issue, when finished, the iMovie was not installed, I try to download it from app store, but it's not free. How can I get iMovie back?

It's something to do with the main user account (not iTunes account) on my Mac because I logged in with another account and it downloaded fine, I installed it on the HDD and even though the date in App Store was 16th October 2014, it is the full installer of 10.10.2.
To try to resolve this problem, I have copied the installer app elsewhere and deleted it but App Store still will not allow me to download it with my main user account yet just allowed me to update iTunes.
I had a brainwave last night that it might have been related to me changing the default downloads folder to one not on my boot drive (to save disk space on my main boot drive) but having changed it back, tried again, rebooted and tried yet again, deleted my App Store preferences. nothing has worked.

  • Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out.  Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping.  I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked.  I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer.  I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved.  I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed.  I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite.  I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to create a secure network on my MB air with OS X Yosemite?
    Any ideas?
In the pervious OS version when you create a network on from the WIFI icon on the top of the desktop, there are
    1) network name
    2) channel
    3) type of password
    4) key in password.
Now with OS X yosemite, there is only
    1) network name
    2) channel
When the network is created there is not IP.
I am trying to use "airserver" a third party app to help project my iPad air to my MB air.
I am trying to do this when I am conducting the class and I would like to record my lesson.
    Please advise.
My way of getting around this is to use Airport Express and create my own network that link MB air and iPad air.
But i do not want to look like a gadget guys and bring so many hardware to class... haha...
    Hope someone have an alternative.
    Cheers,
    Andy

  • Wifi issues after upgrading from Maverick to Yosemite. No solutions have worked.

I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 from Mavericks. Having wifi issue where I can't connect to my home network. It connects for 5 seconds than I get "no IP address", and then the connection drops. A free local wifi connection does work. Any ideas until this issue is fixed by Apple? My home router worked fine in Maverick. I tried all the online suggestions but nothing has worked. Have not downgraded yet to Maverick but thinking about it.

  • OSX Yosemite Wifi FIX!!

I found a way to fix the wifi issue on my iMac which i upgraded from maverick to Yosemite OSX. I got fed up with all the fixes that didn't fix the problem so I opened app store and re-downloaded Mavericks.. I noticed that for two hours my wifi didn't drop once. then within 2 minutes after download it disconnected...... So after a thought, i opened my torrent program and let 1 file seed at .2K and magically no wifi issue as long as something is always using the connection....

Try the workaround suggested in this article: http://tidbits.com/article/15273?rss

What's going on? Why is my iPhone consistently quicker than my mac?

10.10.1 has not changed any of these speed difference. I'v also tried setting up a new wifi location and trashing some preferences...
Any ideas why my brand new mac is so poor at wifi?

  • 10.10.2 and wifi issues

I have held off updating one of my Macs to Yosemite because of the wifi issues.  Anyone upgrade to 10.10.2 who had issues and found update resolved them.  Apple said 10.10.1 would but we know it did not.  So want to know real world results for this one before I update.

  • APPLE: FIX YOSEMITE WIFI PROBLEMS

Not really a question, just hoping that Apple is going to take this seriously. I spent days trying all sorts of things to prevent the Wifi from dropping a slowing down to a halt. First I had the instant random freeze problem, now this.
This is serious and Apple should respond to this! There are numerous users who experience this issue.

    1. Its too bad apple dont monitor these forums, or maybe they do, but they just dont know how to fix the wifi issue that everyone is experiencing, and has been going on for a long time. Thanks for the feedback link, i have wrote a few of them in the past and im sure everyone else hv written feedback about wifi.
    2. I use a router from isp and also tried airport express. I dont think its a router issue becoz i have used this same router for a year and on my macmini running mountain lion, wifi never drops. And when i travel, using macbookpro running mavericks, wifi drops, and surely its not an option to use an airport extreme when traveling or at a friends home...i mean we cannot replace routers everywhere we go, those cheap routers still work with other computers, even mountain lion. Its the expensive computers that needs improvements, but obviously the latest updates for mavericks made it like a crappy yosemite. One thing i notice is apple really improve their way of marketing their products, their advertisements are looking very nice now.
I think replacing routers is not a solution, the only solution right now is to switch off wifi and switching back on again and again, thanks to the sophisticated innovation from apples yosimite and latest mavericks. Today i have done that about 20x.

  • WiFi issues with iPhone 4S & ios 6 update

    Okay here is my issue...
I've been reading alot of issues that people have with connecting to WiFi with their new iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or other devices but I have no trouble connecting to WiFi at all. My problem is that WiFi wont 'work'. The WiFi I'm hooked up to at home doesn't let me do basically anything that requires internet.
I can get on the Facebook app fine and my newsfeed loads but I can't see Facebook notifications, upload photos or videos, read inboxes, look at photos, its very slow etc.
I can't get into the App Store or iTunes at all. It says it 'Cannot Connect to iTunes Store' when I try.
I can't upload photos onto Instagram
Currently I'm into the Simpsons Tapped Out game and I can't go onto it at all.
And there are a few other minor issues I am having.
All these things I can do with my Telstra 3G network however and it ***** because I want to use and do all these things but I have to use my 3G and I've just recently gone over my data monthly usage and been charged extra which I'm not happy about.
So is anyone else having these issues or is it just me and I'm stuffed? I'd REALLY love some help.
I've been lost with what to do because as some are having WiFi issues as well, mine isnt the same and it's hard to find answers or just other discussions.
    Please Help!
    Thankyou.

I am having the same issue since updating to iOS 6.  It has been noticeable on my iPhone 4S and a little less noticeable on my iPad 3 but I think it is happening on the iPad too.  Very annoying problem.  One way to get it to work better is to re-boot your phone.  It will work for awhile then and then eventually not be working anymore and you will need to re-boot again.
Just to be clear with everyone - the iPhone looks like it is connected to the wireless, it gets an IP address but can't transmit any data.  Device:  iPhone 4S, OS:  iOS6

  • Wifi issues with iphone not responding

    Phone: iPhone 4s.
This issue started approximately two weeks ago. My phone initially started with the Wifi connection greyed out, I followed the appropriate steps to resolve this issue, and was successful. Now I can turn the wifi connection on without problems, but my iPhone will freeze (delay), then return me to my homescreen. Occasionally I do automatically connect to my known wifi, but then will disconnect and return to 3G. If I make an attempt to go to settings to manually reconnect, the phone again freezes. The phone seems to freeze after I click settings, then when pressing Wi-Fi, the bar turns dark bold, but freezes and doesn't open. I then have to click my home button, return to the main menu. Also if I open an app during the seldom opportunity my phone is connected to wifi, the phone will disconnect, return to 3G and freeze. I have rebooted my routers, forgot networks, reset network settings. I have thought about resetting the entire phone, but my phone will not stay connected to wifi long enough for me to back up my data to iCloud. I am thinking of stopping into my local verizon store, but I think they will redirect me to an apple store; which is 35 miles away. Of course the problem with me not connecting to Wi-Fi is my increased use of data. Now I am over 75% for my monthly usage with 2 weeks remaining, and do not see justification in possibly having to pay the overage fee. Many times when my phone freezes due to these wifi issues, or will not respond, I have to do the manual power/home reset. In conclusion, I need to figure out how to maintain my connection to Wi-fi, and stop my phone from not responding when I open my wifi settings. Thanks in advance!

My Iphone 4S is doing the same thing..  All of a sudden the WIFI button is gray and not working.  I chatted online with a Rep.  He had me call *228 and hit option 1, then call again and hit option 2.  All of a sudden the WIFI button was black.  But it could not find any network.  I shut it off and restarted it and now button gray again.  I called that number again and still gray.  I read somewhere else that a lot of people have a problem with the WIFI button.  They say it basically just stops working.  This was a replacement phone because the volume stopped working on my original phone.  I assume they gave me a refurbished one because it didn't seem new.   I'm due an upgrade in 3 months.   I'm disabled and just hate driving to the store again.  I wish there was an easier way.

  • WiFi issues with Curve 8530

    Hi,
I am having major WiFi issues with my Curve 8530. Everytime I connect to my wireless router, it takes a long time to connect to BIS, and then if I try to use basically any data at all, my router drops my Curve 8530. Sometimes it stays connected, but I cannot use App World at all, and email, and web browsing is all over the place in terms of speed, sometimes it is fast, while sometimes it is slow, and most of the time it stalls while loading a page. How do I configure my router for use with BIS and have it not drop my Curve 8530 everytime I use data over WiFi? BIS works perfectly over my cellular carriers network, so BIS is activated on my device. I have tried giving my BB a static IP, but that did not solve anything. My router is a Netgear WNR2000. Also, I have the latest device software installed on my BB, and all of my apps are up-to-date.

    Hi,
Have you had any luck and resolving your problem?
We have a similar problem but it's with iOS devices where only one can connect at a time. We have about 10 that need to connect. All other laptops and tablets connect fine.
Power cycling the AX411 fixes it temporarly.

  • WiFi issue after 6.1.2 upgrade

I upgraded my OS to 6.1.2 and now I'm having troubles connecting to the internet at work.  I did reset my network settings and inputted the appropriate password and still having issues.  It identifies the network but when open safari or an app requiring internet connection it goes nowhere.  Is anyone else having this issue.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem.  Keep in mind my connection works fine at home.
