Yosimite, Flash Player 15, Adobe Air and Zinio 4

Using Yosemite, Safari and have uninstalled all the Flash Player. Downloaded latest version of Flash Player Air. Ok , but when i try to open the Zinio package I get notification that the Flash file is broken and will not open. Weird

The documentation at your link for Sleep Mode lists what you can do to override it:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/mobile/WS4bebcd66a74275c36cfb8137124318eebc6-8000.html#WS4 bebcd66a74275c36cfb8137124318eebc6-7fff
Primarily: The backlight sleep mode is disabled on a mobile device: the runtime behaves normally.
A configurable backlight timeout could also be used to make it work fully longer.

You don't need an Adobe ID or password to install Flash Player, but you may need to provide your system's Administrator password during the installation.

  • Anyone else see issues with Adobe Air and Zinio

    Hi,
I'm just wondering if others are seeing this issue or if I did something unique to my machine. My console is flooded with error messages like this:
    8/3/11 4:41:23.244 AM sandboxd: ([307]) WebProcess(307) deny file-read-data /Users/bkray1/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/ZinioReader4.9310D8F796442B71068C511E15D70529A702D19D.1/P rivateEncryptedDatak
Line after line of it, even after a restart without using the Zinio program (e-pub reader). I have repaired my keychain, and updated to adobe air beta 3, but still get the same meassages. If anyone has any ideas, please share.
    Thanks
    Bryan

This issue was vexing me too, and no amount of repairing the keychain (or deleting these entries) would make it go away.  Everytime I'd launch any Adobe AIR app, the problem would immediately return.
And I believe it was caused a huge speed slowdown, extra heat and overactive fan action on my mid-2010 MacBook Pro (2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB of RAM, otherwise clean install of OS X 10.7.)
Anyway, I came across this post with a purported hack to fix it:
    https://plus.google.com/104149041030409334838/posts/j1ptVE6qfsg
I'm not keen to try this just yet... but would be curious to hear details if anyone else gives it a go.  In the meantime I have just uninstalled Adobe AIR and will anxiously await the release of OS X 10.7.2.

  • Flash Player for Adobe Reader and Acrobat

    Hello folks,
We are seeing more Adobe Portfolio documents but lately our users are unable to view them with Reader / Acrobat XI.
I applied to distribute the Flash installer using this page:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/players/flash-player-distribution.html
I get a confirmation email but this leads me to another page with only Flash browser plugins.
Where can I get a .MSI?  How do we deploy the FULL Flash Player in an enterprise?
    Thanks
    Rice

Yeah!  That is the same link Adobe emailed me.  I only see useless Flash browser pluggins or maybe I am blind?
Adobe's help page says my Flash Active X isn't good enough (we are a Chrome shop anyhow) and since I'm a LAN admin, I need apply for the liecense to get the .msi (which I did).   It is possible their help page is wrong or I am missing something?
    Thanks
    Rice

  • Install Adobe Flash Player on MacBook Air

I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player on MacBook Air and it stops at 98% stating that it needs to to close Safari browser, I close it and still it does not fully install it.

You need to close the Safari process, not only the browser window.
If you don't know how to do that, restart your Mac, then run the downloaded installer before doing anything else.

  • Capabilities.version returns the flash player version within AIR?

Capabilities.version returns my flash player version, "WIN 10,1,53,64", and not the AIR version within my air app. The Flex 4 reference states, "Specifies the Flash Player or Adobe® AIR® platform and version information". I assume this behavior is a bug, then. How can I obtain the version of AIR programmatically within AIR?
My version of AIR is 2.5.1.17730.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
To get the AIR runtime version please try:
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.runtimeVersion
I'll ask around about the docs, it does appear to be misleading.

    Time to move on...

An University student currently undergoing his research

Assuming Allan's advice is not correct, and you do run the installer, I think I've heard of that problem and it involves removing the old Flash plug-ins, then install the new version. I don't use it so I don't know what they are called, but will be the /Library/Internet Plug-ins folder.
You can go here and enable HTML5 in YouTube so you don't have to use Flash: http://www.youtube.com/html5
Most(?) of the content is HTML5, but you may run into videos where you still need Flash.

  • Adobe Air and Flash: Safe or Unsafe?

Adobe Air and Flash-- I use PoserPro2014, and it makes use of Adobe Air to run the Library. I'm getting requests to update the Air component. The tutorials use Flash. I get messages that the Flash "is out of date" and can't watch the tutorials. I
I'm running 10.9.4. My concern is about how Air and Flash may cause problems for my computer. Are the latest versions of Air and Flash safe to upgrade to?

Flash and Java are the two top vectors for malware on any computer. It is imperative that you keep Flash updated to the latest version at all times. As for your concern about problems by updating Air or Flash the prudent thing to do is to create a bootable clone of your working system using a well known cloning app such as Super Duper. Create the bootable clone on a freshly formatted, external hard drive, then boot from that clone, update Flash and Air on that clone to the latest version, then test to see if you have problems with your PoserPro software. If all is well then restart from your normal boot drive and update.
I note that PoserPro is a product of Smith Micro Software, Inc. This company has a very bad reputation regarding OS X compatibility, timely updates, and responses to customer service issues.

  • After the latest version of Adobe flash player was installed, movies and tv shows will not play, and

After the latest version of Adobe Flash Player was installed,  movies and tv shows  will not run, and most of the news videos will not play. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but that does not help.

I have windows (crap) seven and internet explorer.  When I try to access movies or tv shows, I'm always asked to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.  When I check the programs list, it indicates that Adobe Flash Player Active X is installed.  I have uninstalled adobe and reinstalled it several times.  Do you suppose this is a virus, and I need to redo the hard drive completely?

I can't access most internet pages because I don't have adobe flash player for my powerbook and the download doesn't seem to work?

The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to FP requireing an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I fould a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Went to watch a video on You Tube that I have watched before on my iMac and got the prompt that I had to upload Adobe Flash Player.  Did that, and am still getting the same prompt and can't watch any videos at all.  What is going on here, Apple??

Went to watch a video on You Tube that I have watched before on my iMac and got the prompt that I had to upload Adobe Flash Player.  Did that, and am still getting the same prompt and can't watch any videos at all.  What is going on here, Apple??

I do not know how to do this with an Apple TV (I don't have one), but as far as I know Apple TV only does mirroring.
If you have an HDMI cable long enough to reach your TV from where you sit, then it's easy. The TV could be set up in Extended Desktop mode (mirroring off) as if it was simply another computer monitor, and then you could just drag windows to it. If you have the Displays icon in your menu bar, that's where the setting is, or if the icon is not there, then the setting is in the Displays system preference. But again, that's for conventionally connected monitors, not Apple TV. If you don't have an HDMI cable and wanted a long one that's affordable you can get those at monoprice.com.
The answer we are still waiting for is if anyone knows if Apple TV can be used in extended desktop (non-mirroring) mode.
