"You are about to open:" message... sometimes...

Hello,
I am an intranet developer working with Sharepoint 2010. We have decided to switch to PDFs for our documentation for several reasons. All was going well until our users updated to the newest version of Adobe Reader. Prior to the change, when a user opened a PDF, it opened in the browser.
Since the update, opening a PDF from the Search Results screen (and only from the search results screen) opens Adobe Reader outside of the browser and prompts the user with...
"You are about to open:
Document Title.pdf
From: <our intranet site>
Tip: When finished with the file, you can check it in using the "SharePoint/Office 365 Server" option in the File menu".
So, some oddities with this. This only happens when using IE (Chrome and Firefox opens them as normal)... the problem happens with both IE 8 and IE 10. Also, if you right-click on the link and select "Open", it opens in the browser (as it used to). You can also ctrl+click and they will open in a new browser tab.
I would like to get this back to simply opening within IE without the prompts. Soooooo.... tough one, I know... but I'm hoping someone can help!
Thanks.

You can remove "this" (display of the Up Next list) by going to View > Hide Up Next in iTunes' menu.

No.  It would simply remove them from the Up Next list.

  • Can I suppress the "You are about to update x rows" messages?

When I execute code like the following, I get a message each time of the type "You are about to xxxxx <x> rows".  And I have to click OK.  Can I suppress that?
    ls_sql = "Update tblClasses set [total_points] = 0 WHERE [Class_Code] = '" & cboClass_Code & "'"
Also, is there a way to cut from my code and paste it into one of these posts?  I always have to type it fresh, which is error-prone.
    TIA

I'm not having any problem pasting info into a reply here. Shift-Insert or Ctrl-V both work just fine.
"This is a line of text clipped from notepad"
And as to your original question, where are you executing this statement, and how? (and which ver of PB/DB are you using)

  • The page that you are trying to open contains a movie that is referenced to an incorrect version of

I programmed a set of quizzes in Director 8.0 for one of my courses about ten years ago and have been updating them since. And, yes, I did purchased 11.5, but can't use it because I can't use printing w POM or a number of other extras anymore. My semester is about to start and Adobe has updated the Shockwave player in Windows over the summer (I think?) causing my quizzes to not work in a web browser. I am getting this message and can't figure out what is causing it:
The page that you are trying to open contains a movie that is referenced to an incorrect version of the Shockwave player.
I have been working on this for a day and a half and am stumped. I made two apps in 11.5 for WIndows .exe and Mac .app that partially work, but can't get the quizzes to work in Firefox 13 or IE 9. I searched the web and could not find anything useful.  I found a message in this forum from back in 2009 where someone had a similar problem and Sean WIlson said to add a parameter that specifed Player version =11, but that was back in 2009. I tried that PARAM and still get the error. I tried updating the quiz menu .dcr on the web to 11.5, but that didn't work. With all of the updates lately to browsers, the Shockwave plug-in, and Director 11.5, I don't know what is generating the error.  I am assuming its Shockwave player doesn't like something, but have no idea what this movie reference to an incorrect version of Shockwave player is referring to.  We're up to player 11.6 now.  Do we have to include this in the embed statement or is there something else that is causing this error?  Please help, thanks!
Edit: Oddly, the quizzes are still working on a MacBook Pro using Firefox 13.0.1.  I don't know what the Shockwave Player version is. On the Windows 7 side of this MacBook running bootcamp, it was running Shockwave Player 11.6.4. I thought maybe I should uninstall it and install the latest 11.6.6, which I did. The latest version of Shockwave made no difference on Windows 7.  I also tried to run the quizzes on an HP laptop running Windows Vista, Firefox 14.0.1 and Shockwave Player 11.6 installed back Jan 2012 accoridng to the Control Panel.  Same error message.  Tried it using IE 8, which just seemed to do a Shockwave update - no problem the quizzes run.

  • Sorry, the file you are attempting to open cannot

    Hello,
I am a student at the University of South Florida. I have purchased an ebook through McGraw Hill ebookstore for an online class I am taking. After purchase, I was given the option to download and view a sample book (just 1 chapter from the text) and view the entire book. I was able to successfully view the sample book, but when I view the main book, I receive a message "Sorry, the file you are attempting to open cannot
be opened by Digital Editions." Both files are an EBX Transfer Data File (7.0) format. However, only the sample book works.
Any assistance is needed and welcomed.
    Thank you

Is there an answer on what to do about this? I am having the same problem I have XP2 and the first book downloaded fine. But cannot download samples here or books from ebooks.com I get the message Sorry, the file you are attempting to open cannot be opened by digital editions

  • Sorry, the file you are attempting to open cannot be opened by Digital Editions.

I PURCHASED SEVERAL BOOKS FROM GOOGLE PLAY STORE AND FOLLOWED THE
INSTRUCTIONS TO DOWNLOAD THEM SO I COULD READ THEM ON MY NOOK COLOR BUT THE
RESULTING FILES SEEM NOT TO BE RECOGNIZED BY ADOBE DIGITAL EDITIONS VER.
1.7.2 AND EACH ATTEMPT RESULTS IN THE MESSAGE: Sorry, the file you are
attempting to open cannot be opened by Digital Editions.
THE FILE NAMES FOR THE BOOKS ARE ATTACHED. I FOUND IT STRANGE THAT ALTHOUGH
"private 1 suspect-epub.acsm"  does not cause this error but the others do.
I purchased "private 1 suspect-epub.acsm" from Google Market (now PLAYSTORE)
a few weeks earlier. What could be the cause of the problem?
    Any suggestions?
    Ben Olsen

Ben, I'm not sure what is going on here.  So let me write something about
the process generally, and maybe it will help you to determine why this is
    happening.
Generically: the download process usually begins with the source.  That
source would interact with you and then provide an .ascm pointer
file.  After the pointer file is generated, the source should start Digital
Editions on your computer, and Digital Editions will read the pointer file,
find the ebook and download it - all automagically.
Part of the download process can include choosing the format for the
ebook.  Digital Editions is limited to certain formats.  They include
.epub, .txt and .pdf file types. The most common format is .epub.  So, when
you interacted with Google books, you probably got the chance to choose the
type of file you wanted.  If you chose a format OTHER than .epub, .txt or
.pdf, Digital Editions can't do anything with it, and thus the message.

  • There is no SIM card in the phone you are attempting to activate message??

I got a replacemnt 4S from Apple and when I plug it into iTunes I keep getting There is no SIM card in the phone you are trying to activate message. Why is this happening? This didn't happen with my first phone that I got from Verizon.

actually, there should be a sim card in the slot.  It will not have been activated, but it should be there.  just open it up and check.  also...be careful about where you are traveling internationally, especially if you are using data.  A few countries (not most, about 40...many in Asia and South America) use both CDMA and GSM.  on your 4s you do not have an option to choose what Network System you want to use (GSM, CDMA, AUTO etc).  On my recent trip to Venezuela, my 4s only grabbed CDMA which left me without email, web and texting...not good for a business trip.  After several hours on the phone with Verizon, I discovered that they are pushing an update to all Verizon 4s phones (not sure if it is ALL 4s phones or just those that have had their sims activated).  Was told the PRL version number for this is 52638 (a number which is outside the range of the November PRL listings).  what happened to me was either 1) my phone was never pushed this PRL (the push happens on Mondays and Tuesdays), or my phone may have been pushed the update but if *228 is pressed, that will overwrite the PRL so you are out of luck!  in any event, if you are traveling to one of these countries and you want data, be sure you not only activate your sim, but that you have the proper PRL in your phone.  Remember, until they come up with a permanent fix, don't do another *228 once you have this update!!

  • The vendor account is not associated with the file you are trying to open. Please try again.

Please help me to understand what is the problem with the set up of the program. I bought an ebook from an internet site to which my IP address was blocked (in country 1). My brother bought it on a computer in country 2  and wanted to download and send me the file so I can open it on my computer. He set up initial download without Adobe ID. Afterwards he downloaded the pdf and send it to me. I tried to upload it  with my ADE reader but it didn't work without ID. My brother then deleted afterwards his ADE and installed it again, downloaded the ebook again but this time setting up an ID. He transferred me the file ,I used the same ID  but then the following message appeared "The vendor account is not associated with the file you are trying to open. Please try again." . Can this be fixed somehow? I cannot open the URLLinks even as there is no connection from my IP , but I have the pdf file ( ebook) but I don't know how to set up the program.

Sorry Everyone this error message appeared in Digital Editions 4 used on a windows 8 laptop.  Thanks Chris

  • The vendor account you entered is not associated with the item you are trying to open. Try again.

installed eBook and authorized on Adobe Digital Edition and was able to read eBook earlier.
Due to some issue I had to reinstall the eBook. Now I am unable to read eBook it is asking for Authorization and when I input my Adobe ID and pass it gives message 'The vendor account you entered is not associated with the item you are trying to open .Try again'.
I have wasted whole day trying fixing but it does not work, i wasted my money for purchasing eBook that works on Adobe Digital Edition which only adds complexity and wasting peoples time.
Is there anyone who can help answering how can I fix vendor account not associated message issue, while i am entering correct Adobe ID and pass.

  • Internet Explorer 11 'You are about to leave a secure connection'

    Hi there,
I work in an IT Dept and we are testing Internet Explorer 11 for our latest build. It seems that when we switch the 'Warn if changing betwen secure and nonsecure mode' off, then webpages are stuggling to load.
When the setting is turned on then a message is displayed tell me 'You are about to leave a secure connection. It will be possible for others to view information you send. Do you want to continue?'
It then gives me an option to 'Do not display this again' which basically just turned the aforementioned setting to off - then webpages stop loading again. The webpage is just blank white space, no error, nothing.
Is this a bug with Internet Explorer 11?

    Hi,
I made a test in our testing enviroment, found that if I enable "Enable Enhanced Protected Mode" in IE Advanced settings. This problem is gone.
Please make a test in your enviroment. Hope this is helpful.
