You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days
I have a mac which my fiancee and I share. There are 2 separate accounts and 2 separate apple ids used to buy different music (i.e. we have 2 separate iphones and music collections).
I received the following error (see uploaded image) which states that, "you can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days".
Now, when I sync my iTunes and iPhone only some music that I have previously purchases is affected. For some reason they failed to sync with my iPhone and become unavailable in my iTunes ("file cannot be found"). When I deleted the record I saw that it became available for download in iTunes and then discovered this issue.
I have legally purchased the music and just want to be able to sync the files legitimately. It just seems very restrictive to say that you have to have 2 different machines for every account (i.e. you cannot have multiple users on a device with their own accounts which each have their own Apple IDs).

Hi
No - that is the issue - both my husband and I use the same computer and want to be able to use our individual Apple IDs so can access our download content e.g. I-books that we have purchased through our other MAC devices such as I-Pad. In the past, we had four people using one computer with no problem regarding Apple ID. In the newer operating system, we are now restricted to one at a time - it means one of us is blocked out from accessing our content for a period of 90 days. Have you any suggestions on how we can both use our individual Apple IDs with the same lap-top? We have set up discrete accounts so we log on to the computer individually. Many thanks for any help.

So i signed into my other itunes account to download some purchase i had made on that account, went to sign back into my new account and download purchases i had made on my iphone adn it tells me "You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 90 days.". This is a shared family computer with multiple Apple IDs being used on it. Not cool apple. This needs to be figured out. Not acceptable for families that have more than one apple ID to have to wait 3 months to download old purchases. Get real. Any way i can 'override' this?

Since my daughter burned a CD from my computer using our shared libraries I cannot play my library. This pops up: "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID. You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 88 days." I can get as far as viewing my library but listening is denied by this pop-up. Can anyone help, please? I just noticed my (this) computer is not showing as registered to my account. Hmmm....a clue perhaps?
Do you have a question?

I bought a Christmas video on my Apple TV in my bedroom for my kids to watch. I tried to download it to our computer in the living room, but I got a terribly inconvenient message that says I have to wait 30 days before downloading it, because my husband downloaded something with his account-REALLY?!
Is there a way around this?
30 days from now, my kids won't be as interested in The Grinch who stole Christmas.
Is the only way around this to buy it twice? Or buy through Amazon Instant Play?
There has to be a way around this- it seems so silly- why would I buy another video through Itunes, if it's better to buy on a disc, so that I can watch it in multiple rooms?
Message reads exactly "You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 30 days."
Please tell me I am doing something wrong, and that it is possible for my kids to watch the video I purchsed in our bedroom and also in the living room if they prefer. Thanks! You can try contacting itunes store support to have it reset. It's not gauranteed though because account association through computers and devices can only be switched every 90 days.

You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 88 days.
Hello BW1968,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627
Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days.
Best of luck,

You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This computer can be used with a different Apple ID in 71 days. Whats the deal???
You can use multiple AppleIDs to purchase new music but you are limited as to how frequently you can change authorizations for re-downloading past purchases. It may well be a measure to deter piracy by stopping a group of people from going around to a friend's computer and downloading purchases on the other person's computer. It is easy to avoid by making sure you have backup copies on drives at home so you never need to redownload anything.

For some reason, "Support" email can't be process this topic (??)...
I purchased a TV series, but i have not been able to download the last two episodes because i keep getting the error message typed into discussion topic.
This is the only computer i have ever logged into for iTunes. I purchases the TV series with my account on my computer, the same i've been using for year. Never previously had a problem. My daughter used my computer to redeem some iTunes vouchers on xmas day, but she logged out when finished. It's been since then, though, that i have been unable to download my tv show.
Any help would be much appreciated. I am scared to buy anything else in case i can't download it.
Have tried logging in and out, my daughter has also logged in and out again, just in case it didn't recognise it before. This is a somewhat recent change, but frankly there is no reason to constantly be logging out of one Apple ID and logging in with a different Apple ID.
If multiple people with different Apple ID's are regularly using the same computer, either authorize the computer for each of the Apple IDs or created unique logins on the computer for each user and have each sign in with their appropriate Apple ID.
