"you can't perform this action on this draft"
Whats up with this? Suddenly, _all_ of my Websites I administer with CT are throwing this error when trying to publish a draft. In Addition a save Box pops up after this error and CT says I have an unpublished Draft - which is completely empty.
The Problem affects _all_ Sites as I said, and _all_ Versions of CT (CT CS4 as well as CT CS5, german or english does not matter) on _all_ of my computers. WTF?
I also tried to delete all Prefs, and on one machine even tried to reinstall CT, which failed according to the installer.
I am using Mac OS X 10.6.3, maybe the latest update destroyed CT?
So what now? Please help, I am completely locked right now.
Thanks,
Frank
1. Restart Contribute and click 'Connect' to the site. Create a new
page and publish. Edit an existing page and publish. Select an existing
page and publish. If any the same error msg pops up - Delete or discard
the draft. Reedit the page and check.
This did not work. I can create a new page, but not publish it (same error)
2. Remove the connection and
reconnect and try. Reedit the page and check.
This also did not help. I don't know how many times I startet a new connection. Also deleted all "_notes", ".lck" and "_mm" Files on the remote site before starting over, but nothing helped.
3. Remove the
preferences from both - 'user - Library - Preferences' and also 'user -
Library - Application Support - Adobe - Contribute CSX' and try again.
Reedit the page and check.
Also tried this several times, but does not work.
If none of the above worked then please provide more details of Website
and machine.
Machines: Mac Pro 2008 and Macbook late 2008, both running OS X 10.6.3
Websites: _all_ I tried! One example: finkon-hh.de. Nothing special with these sites ....
What really really bothers me that I have the same Problem on _all_ my machines, on _all_ sites I tested (3 Sites), and also with _both_ CS4 and CS5.

V4.1 "You cannot perform this action in this region of the page" Bug?
I am receiving an "You cannot perform this action in this
region of the page" error when I try to add a link to an image. And
yes I am in an editable region.
The weird thing is, for the images that already have links, I
can edit them successfully, but if I remove them I cannot add a
link back to it.
This site was originally being administered using contribute
3.11 but the client is now using 4.1 could that have something to
do with it?
Thank you,I was also having this problem but I was able to confirm that it wasn't old code or javascript problems. In the process of troubleshooting we realized that some links were editable and others were not. Turns out all the links that used PHP (in this case an echo for the site url) were the ones that were uneditable.
Since I've been creating pages and content with this method for years and have only had a problem in the last month, I don't really feel like this has been "solved". I certainly don't want to go back and edit all my pages using php for site organization but at least this will allow the client to make edits for now. -
I get an error message that you can't perform this operation
My client gets an error message that "You can't perform this operation on this page now because someone (me) is currently editing or reviewing it." But I'm not. What is going wrong?
Please ask your client to clear Contribute preference once and try the same scenario.
Here are the steps how to clear the Contribute Preferences:
For Mac, Contribute CS5
1) Quit Contribute.
2) (a) Go to "user/Library/Preferences" and delete the file "Adobe Contribute 6 Preferences".
(b) Go to "user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/" remove "Contribute CS5".
For Mac, Contribute CS4
1) Quit Contribute.
2) (a) Go to "user/Library/Preferences" and delete the file "Adobe Contribute 5 Preferences".
(b) Go to "user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/" remove "Contribute CS4".
If you use CS3, then delete "Adobe Contribute 4.1 Preferences" and "Contribute CS3" folder.
For Win, Contribute CS5
1) Quit Contribute.
2) From Command prompt run the below two commands to remove the preferences
a) reg delete "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Contribute 6" /f
b) RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Contribute CS5"
For Win, Contribute CS4
1) Quit Contribute.
2) From Command prompt run the below two commands to remove the preferences
a) reg delete "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Contribute 5" /f
b) RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Contribute CS4"
For CS3
a) reg delete "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Contribute 4.1" /f
b) RD /S /Q "%Userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Contribute CS3"
Note: when you clear the preference all the existing connections will be lost. The connections needs to be recreated.
Hope this helps you. -
"You cannot perform this action in this region of the page" error Contribute 2.01
Hi
Our Contribute users are working in Editable Regions on pages
they have permission to edit. They get this error sometimes when
they try to create a link to another part of the website, to a page
out on the Internet, or to a document on their computer.
Usually they can succeed if they publish the page as is then
edit it again, but not always.
There is no noticeable network lag. The message appears
quickly.
We plan on upgrading Contribute, but don't have the go-ahead
yet. Any suggestions about where to look for a solution would be
appreciated.
Thanks
GordI am having the same problem in both Contribute 4.0 and 3.0.
I have checked the code and there is nothing odd in it. When I edit
a page, I have found that I can create one link in the editable
region, but then when I try to create another, I get the message:
“Cannot perform that action in this region of the
page.” This happens with text links, links from an image, and
email links. It happens whether I choose "Browse" or "Choose." The
problem also occurs when attempting to link to a file on my
computer.
I am the administrator of the site - it's not a problem for
me, because I can make the links in Dreamweaver. However it is a
big problem for our customers who want to update their own pages.
Here is an example of a page of the site where this is
happening.
http://www.firstflightrentals.com/amenities.htm -
you can't open photo library using this version of iphoto. you have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iphoto. please quit and use latest version of iphoto. iphoto 11 is installed.
This is a message you got?
If so, as your post isn't clear, it may be a bogus message caused by a corrupt database.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

You can't use Contribute to edit this type of file
I've updated a few pages from a website, so they're just
variations of pages that used to work with Contribute. Now I'm
getting a message--on some of them--that "you can't used Contribute
to edit this type of file." These are html files with the extension
htm. They contain tables. They are based on templates. They don't
seem to have any other distinguishing properties. Exactly what kind
of files don't work? What might I be doing wrong? I teach this at a
college & my students are as puzzled as I am.Ancient thread, but if anyone else is googling this phrase I thought I might respond with a possible answer. I encountered the same error but could not find anything wrong with the page in question. Turned out the page getting the error message was fine! The issue was actually with a simple typo on the page that linked to that page--it was missing the extension (e.g., linking to "page2" instead of "page2.php". The web server (and Contribute's browser) were pulling up the page even though the extension was missing but Contribute didn't know what kind of file it was so it refused to allow editing.

Hi, I hope you can help. I'm sure this is something really basic that I should be able to fix myself, but.................
I was working on a photo calendar on my macbook off the battery and the battery suddenly ran out. So it wasn't shut down properly. Now when I open i photo the coloured wheel just keeps spinning and I can't get into it. Everything else on the computer seems to work. I've done forced quit and restarted it a few times and also left it running.

Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Can we perform two actions with one button with two clicks one after other?
Sir,
can we perform two actions with one button with two clicks one after other?
I want that when I click an Add Button first time it add data to the database and when I click again this button it clear the form data to empty fields.
Regards
TanvirIn code it should be easy.
The following code adds a button called butman with a text "ADD".
It then registers a listener that will be called if the button is clicked.
This listener then calls the runAddData method if you clicked on butman while it contained the "ADD" text and it will call the runClearData method otherwise.
Therefore it will swap the button's functionality between ADD and CLEAR on every click.
final Button butman = new Button("ADD");
butman.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
@Override
public void handle(ActionEvent t) {
if (butman.getText().equals("ADD")) {
butman.setText("CLEAR");
runAddData();
} else {
butman.setText("ADD");
runClearData();
} // END IF-THEN
}});I hope this is what you wanted.
Some extra food for thought.
You might want to run the ADD and CLEAR methods in their own threads so that it can run in the back ground, without slowing down your user interface.
I also like to rather reuse one button for multiple functionality in stead of making an application with hundreds of nodes only used rarely with masses of code to show and hide them if needed. -
You Cannot Perform this Action in this Region of the Page
I have been using Contribute for a few months - my web person designed our web in Dreamweaver, using a template she customized. I am using Firefox, if that matters. I have the Administrator role.
About a month ago I had trouble deleting a table - and received the error message You Cannot perform this action ... etc. NOW, I can't do anything having to do with inserting html snippet, or inserting a table, or a paypal button. I am trying to update pricing on our products page.
Thank you!Anit: Thank you, but I checked out that article and the subject is: "When trying to edit a page, an error message appears, "You can't edit this page now because (username) <email address> is currently editing it. Please contact <email address> for assistance."" I am trying to edit a page that is not checked out. It appears to have something to do with tables and paypal buttons - both when they are input through contribute, and when I get the code from creating one in Paypal and try to insert html snippet. Do you please have any other ideas? This is a show-stopper for our business because now the buttons aren't working. Thank you!

I want to make the clock & date smaller or in different positions...is this possible now on iOS 7 or still not?
If not we should demand it become an option!!!!I don't think you can. But adjustments, if any, would be in the settings for date and time.

19:39:11 PDT --- Well, this is embarrassing. It looks like one of our
servers was down and for whatever reason we didn't notice.
It should be working now. If you still see errors, please reopen this bug.

Inserting an image "You cannot perform this action..."
I see from earlier posts that users are struggling to add
links and are seeing the error "You cannot perform this action in
this area of the page". I am getting the same error when trying to
insert an image. No reason why I should start to get this error.
I've inserted images on this page before. But then Contribute does
seem to start doing (or not doing) things of it's own accord. I
have tried using the <p></p> fix that other users say
work fo rlinks but it doesn't work for images. Frustrated.I might be able to shed a little light on one possible reason
for this and I believe it to be a bug in Contribute.
This only seems to happen on .asp pages where you have Flash
that you are feeding URL variables into it.
If you edit any editable region on the page for some reason
Contribute wants to bung:
<MM:BeginLock unremovable type="MM_EDITTEXTONLY"
orig="%3C%25=vname%25%3E">
Into my Flash code, thus corrupting the whole page code and
totally confusing Contribute. And this happens even if you are
editing a region totally unrelated to the Flash
code?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!
I tried to take this up some time ago with Adobe support who
were so unhelpful I gave up and rewrote the pages as standard .html
and used template variables instead.
Contact me if you need anymore information.
