Hi
Our Contribute users are working in Editable Regions on pages
they have permission to edit. They get this error sometimes when
they try to create a link to another part of the website, to a page
out on the Internet, or to a document on their computer.
Usually they can succeed if they publish the page as is then
edit it again, but not always.
There is no noticeable network lag. The message appears
quickly.
We plan on upgrading Contribute, but don't have the go-ahead
yet. Any suggestions about where to look for a solution would be
appreciated.

I am having the same problem in both Contribute 4.0 and 3.0.
I have checked the code and there is nothing odd in it. When I edit
a page, I have found that I can create one link in the editable
region, but then when I try to create another, I get the message:
“Cannot perform that action in this region of the
page.” This happens with text links, links from an image, and
email links. It happens whether I choose "Browse" or "Choose." The
problem also occurs when attempting to link to a file on my
computer.
I am the administrator of the site - it's not a problem for
me, because I can make the links in Dreamweaver. However it is a
big problem for our customers who want to update their own pages.

    Using SharePoint 2010 Server and the UI, when you click "Site
Actions" - "New Site" and you create Team Site that that is a
Sub-site.
    When you create the Visitor, Members and Owners groups
how can you allow the user to add a document while at the same
time not allow them to edit the page when adding the document
as the only permissions are Full Control, Contribute and Read?

Hi Shabeaut,
To create a new permission level, you should manage the Parent (site collection).
Your current location is subsite, and it looks like it has unique permission(broke inheritance) that is the reason you are not able to see the create permission level. and another reason for seeing Inherit Permissions along with other menus in the ribbon.
You should also see Manage Parent along with the menus you see when your site inherits permission from parent.
So, go to your site collection and create a new permission level and assign users to it.
And to assign permission level to your new groups, you will be able assign permission when you create a new group, along with the name, all permissions would be listed in the same page(_layouts/newgrp.aspx).

V4.1 "You cannot perform this action in this region of the page" Bug?

I am receiving an "You cannot perform this action in this
region of the page" error when I try to add a link to an image. And
yes I am in an editable region.
The weird thing is, for the images that already have links, I
can edit them successfully, but if I remove them I cannot add a
link back to it.
This site was originally being administered using contribute
3.11 but the client is now using 4.1 could that have something to
do with it?

I was also having this problem but I was able to confirm that it wasn't old code or javascript problems. In the process of troubleshooting we realized that some links were editable and others were not. Turns out all the links that used PHP (in this case an echo for the site url) were the ones that were uneditable.
Since I've been creating pages and content with this method for years and have only had a problem in the last month, I don't really feel like this has been "solved". I certainly don't want to go back and edit all my pages using php for site organization but at least this will allow the client to make edits for now.

You Cannot Perform this Action in this Region of the Page

I have been using Contribute for a few months - my web person designed our web in Dreamweaver, using a template she customized. I am using Firefox, if that matters. I have the Administrator role.
About a month ago I had trouble deleting a table - and received the error message You Cannot perform this action ... etc. NOW, I can't do anything having to do with inserting html snippet, or inserting a table, or a paypal button. I am trying to update pricing on our products page.

Anit: Thank you, but I checked out that article and the subject is: "When trying to edit a page, an error message appears, "You can't edit this page now because (username) <email address> is currently editing it. Please contact <email address> for assistance."" I am trying to edit a page that is not checked out. It appears to have something to do with tables and paypal buttons - both when they are input through contribute, and when I get the code from creating one in Paypal and try to insert html snippet. Do you please have any other ideas? This is a show-stopper for our business because now the buttons aren't working. Thank you!

Inserting an image "You cannot perform this action..."

I see from earlier posts that users are struggling to add
links and are seeing the error "You cannot perform this action in
this area of the page". I am getting the same error when trying to
insert an image. No reason why I should start to get this error.
I've inserted images on this page before. But then Contribute does
seem to start doing (or not doing) things of it's own accord. I
have tried using the <p></p> fix that other users say
work fo rlinks but it doesn't work for images. Frustrated.

I might be able to shed a little light on one possible reason
for this and I believe it to be a bug in Contribute.
This only seems to happen on .asp pages where you have Flash
that you are feeding URL variables into it.
If you edit any editable region on the page for some reason
Contribute wants to bung:
<MM:BeginLock unremovable type="MM_EDITTEXTONLY"
orig="%3C%25=vname%25%3E">
Into my Flash code, thus corrupting the whole page code and
totally confusing Contribute. And this happens even if you are
editing a region totally unrelated to the Flash
code?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!
I tried to take this up some time ago with Adobe support who
were so unhelpful I gave up and rewrote the pages as standard .html
and used template variables instead.

Hi,
I want to delete an interface (IF_EX* --> in the sap namespace) an the following message appears:
"You cannot perform this action in modification/enhancement mode" (Message Class OO, Message Number 401)
The interface was created by myself in a SAP development class / package.
I think the problem is, that the system is trying to delete the interface by using the modification assistant.

How did u create an interface with name beginning with IF_EX*, the standard interfaces for BADI should have a name like that.
If you've create a custom interface it should be called Z*.

Hi friends, i am using Walton Primo X1 phone. It has problem in skype. I downloaded the skype app and installed in my android 4.1.2 phone `. When i enter into skype and giving my login details its showing error that You cannot be signed in at this time please check your mobile network settings. But in my mobile, the network is perfectly alright. It doesn't has any problem. The internet is working properly in browser & in some other apps. I tried many options which are all gave in forums. But stil it has the same problem. Coudn't login into skype. Please give some ideas that would be perfectly suitabale for get rid from it. iLife '09 is not available as a download - it is only available as a purchase
iLife '11 is available as a DVD purchase and the compoments of it are available from the App Store (iPhoto '11 (version 9.1.5), etc)
Exactly what did you do? And exactly what does the error message say?
On the surface it appears that you are attemptying to open a new library with an older version (iPhoto '09 can not open an iPhoto '11 library for example)

Version 2.0.4 is iWeb 08 and direct publishing via ftp is not available in iWeb 08 and never has been. You have the option of publishing to MobileMe, but you can publish via ftp, but you need to select the option publish to a local folder instead and then upload using Cyberduck, which is a free and dedicated ftp client.
If you want the inbuilt ftp function, then you will need to upgrade your iLife package to either iLife 09 which contains iWeb 09 or iLife 11, which also contains iWeb 09. For this, you need to purchase both of these packages. Either go to Amazon and try and get a copy of iLife 09 more cheaply or purchase iLife 11 directly from the Apple store.
This is what you will need to do and iWeb 08, which is the version you have, never has had built in ftp so that option will never be available to you unless you upgrade which you will have to pay for. Upgraded and updates are different things. Updates are just your normal run of the mill software updates and address bug fixes etc., whereas you will need to pay for full upgrades to other packages such as from iLife 08 to iLife 09 or 11.

How is the disk (top level container) formatted according to Disk Utility:
* What Partiton Map Scheme? (Should be "GUID Partition Table".)
* How many partitions? (Should be 1 unless you have a Boot Camp partition.)
How is the partition (lower level container) formatted according to Disk Utility? (Should be "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".)

Hey, I am running Lion on a Macbook Air 2010 model and i recently bought Mountain Lion through the MAC App Store. ive had problems installing it as i cant install it onto my Macintosh HD (startup Disk). Ive opened the ML installer and its rebooted my mac into the installer Menu, but when it goes to install, it stops and says You Cannot Install OS X on This Disk. OS X cannot start up from this disk." i want to be able to install ML overwriting Lion on my MacintoshHD (startup drive), are there any solutions that can fix this problem?

I ran into another problem: The USB cable I was using for my external backup disk was not reliable. I kept getting "disk ejects" at various points during migration.
I bought a new "2.0 certified" cable and it worked fine. The first two attempts resulted in re-installs.
I'm happy to report that after the 3rd re-install of ML everything appears to be OK.
I disabled TM and keeping my last b/u offline for a few more days to be safe....

You cannot save data typed into this form

Hi,
I created a small interactive form using transaction SFP and I included this form into a WDA application.
The data I am pushing from the system into the form is visualized, but there is also an error message stating:
You cannot save data typed into this form.
Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records.
At first I thought something was wrong with my credentials, but after requesting new credentials this message still appears.
Does anybody know what is causing this message and how I can fix it?

Hi.
1. Are you able to generate an interactive form with the save option through a report program or by WDJ or were you able to view an interactive form by any means with your current credential configuration -> i am asking this coz eventhough you have the right credential, cases can be that it is not properly installed. (check out the standard WDA examples)
2. try using ZCI and xACF layouts. (for ZCI generate the scripts)
3 . Check if the form properties is set to interactive form.
4. Check if you have the generated xml in the interface of your form.
Hope you have checked these already.

Why do some people get "you cannot save data typed into this form" using FormsCentral fillable PDF?

Hello. We're using FormsCentral extensively. We create the fillable PDF and send it to about 80 people. Each of them is adding content and saving and then passing on to another person for further content. Ultimately, all parties are happy with the content and submit. The problem is that some of the people open the PDF and get the message ""you cannot save data typed into this form". What is causing this? Please help as it is causing us many problems.

Thanks for the quick response. We distribute the form to 80 people who fill it out and create 80 versions. They then pass the form to one other person who edits. All 80 forms, once complete, are submitted to FormsCentral.
I think the problem is with Mac users. Is there anything unusual about the Mac with Adobe Reader? If you provide your email address, I can send you one of the filled out forms that is having this issue. It's quite odd in that the fillable fields don't show up until clicked on and the form is not saveable.

You Cannot Perform... intermittent issue

Here's an odd one:
We have an issue that has come up with a client using that is
using Contribute 3.11 on a site that has been built with
Dreamweaver templates (no template nesting) and PHP includes (no
editable regions within the include files). It seems similar to the
issues others have had with users being unable to copy and paste
content from Word or a text file into Contribute, but with a few
twists.
The issue is that we have a user on a Windows XP SP3 machine
running Contribute 3.11 who occasionally gets the "You cannot
Perform" error when trying to copy and paste additional content in
from either Word (using either paste as plain text or straight copy
and paste) or Notepad. (using either paste as plain text or
straight copy and paste).
* the template is very simple: a few template properties and
only one editable region (and no nesting). And it validates as
fully compliant XHTML 1.0 Transitional markup.
* includes are done using the following php syntax, i.e.:

require_once($_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/includes/en/navMain.php');?>
* the problem is intermittent, and so far only occurs on just
this one user's machine.
Even weirder, here's a workaround (that seems to work so
far):
* Once the problem starts, trying to CTRL-P/CTRL-V,
CTRL-P/CTRL-Shift-V or selecting Edit > Paste / Edit > Paste
Text Only DOES NOT WORK. However, right-clicking with the mouse and
select Paste does!
Very odd. Anyone else able to repeat this specific scenario?

The problem is that "id" is auto-generated, but you're initializing it
to a non-default value. This makes Kodo think that this is an existing
database object.
I suggest downloading EA 4 from www.solarmetric.com. It solves previous
issues with null primary key values, so you should be able to leave "id"
null and therefore avoid confusing Kodo by initializing "id" yourself.
(Note, however, that EA 4 implements the public draft of the spec, and
there have been changes to some annotations.)
