You do not have access privileges for download operation on ipod

I have run diagnostic tests and all connections work
How do I resolve this issue?

Hello FarEasternChica
You may need to change the permissions to your iTunes folder; the article below will assist you with that process.

  • "There was a problem downloading app.  You do not have access privileges for this operation." ?

I am trying to download free app updates using iTunes and I receive the following error:
"There was a problem downloading NAME OF APP.  You do not have access privileges for this operation."
These are just the free app updates.  I have no idea why this started to happen.  Any solutions?
I have the most recent version of iTunes.  When I transfer purchases from my iPad and iPhone, it does copy over the apps, yet the apps still appear in the list of errors.  Any solutions?

Thanks but it's still not working. Also every time I start iTunes it asks for my password. I also have my iTunes library on an external hard drive though iTunes 8 had none of these problems. Another problem I have is that the screensaver no longer sees my album artwork even though iTunes still displays it. Not sure if I should try moving my iTunes library back to my boot drive.

  • The itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have access privileges for this operation

Help, I just cant get rid of this error message:
The itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access privileges for this operation.

The location of the iTunes Library file may be read-only or owned by a different user.
    Default locations:
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<login>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
    Vista: C:\Users\<login>\Music\iTunes
    Windows 7: C:\Users\My Music\itunes
Right click the iTunes folder and choose Properties
Look at the Attributes and see if Read-Only is checked.
Uncheck it and click OK, at the apply to all subfolders and files prompt, make sure all subfolders and files is selected and click OK.
If your iTunes library saves now you are done.
If it does not you will need to try on each directory above the iTunes directory.
Of course if you are not using the default locations you'll have to alter the path to the one you find in iTunes Edit->Preferences, Advanced tab.

  • "You Do Not Have Access Privileges For This Operation"

Just yesterday I installed iTunes 9 on Windows XP SP 3 for the first time. I've never used any version of iTunes before.
Full disclosure: iTunes is not my default media player.
So far, things seem to be going okay. I've only encountered one weirdness: After I set my iTunes preferences (Edit > Preferences) I received this error message:
"An error occurred while updating the default player for audio file types. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
    Why is that weird? Well...
First - I +did not+ try to 'update the default player for audio file types'. (Did iTunes try to make itself the default without consulting me?)
Second - I am using an Administrator account - no doubt about my "access privileges" - and my music is stored in my account.
I have searched for this error message on the discussion boards here and also Googled the message, with disappointing results. Apparently, this message appears under several circumstances, and there seems to be no obvious fix, only educated guesses that work for some but not for others.
What could be the reason behind the error message in my case?

The only time i've seen that error is when updating the itunes library and can sometimes be caused by ESET anti virus / Smart security blocking access. Certainly can't see why you don't enough privileges to change default music player.

    Help please,
On trying to sync and iphone with itunes, I get the following popup message:
Attempting to copy to the disk "..' failed.  You do not have enough access priveleges for this operation.
The sync is at stage 6 of 6. Syncing Genius Data to "...." (step 6 of 6)
Any ideas on how to have the sync complete?
    Thanks in advance

I didn't put all of the movies into iTunes at the applestore. I fixed the problem. my external hard drive (where my movies are stored) was read only for some reason.  the last time i was in the store, they must have changed it. thanks though

I didn't know that iTunes had a 64bit download. I have Windows 7 Home Premium with 64bit operation system. I downloaded the iTunes for 64bit and it seems to have corrected the problem. I haven't received the message yet since I did this.

  • What does it mean when I get a message that says you do not have enough privileges for this operation

What does it mean when I get a message that says You do not have enough access privileges for this operation

To be honest I'd be very tempted to ring Applecare and explain that prior to downloading iOS5 your iPod Touch worked perfectly however since downloading Apple's new iOS5 it's "bricked" therefore can they as a matter of decency try to help put things right warranty situation notwithstanding.  Afterall it does appear to be one of Apple's products that has broken your previously working iPod Touch.

  • The iPhone cannot be synced. You do not have enough privileges for this operation

On a Win7 PC and iTunes I'm trying to sync my wife's phone while signed in under our Apple iTunes account. It connects, backs up but then displays the following message:
The WIndoew accout has full admin privileges and the iTunes account is valid. Ideas?
    Thanks!
    Larry

    Thank you.
I actually figured it out a while ago.
Turns out it is not an issue with the iPhone or iTunes.
By process of elimination I deduced it could be a permissions issue with the hard drive and/or folder that holds the contents of my Music Library.
For example, if the "Sharing & Permissions" settings (found in the "Get Info" Window) are set to "Read Only" on the internal or external drive that contains your Music Library for iTunes then you can not write to the disk. Therefore, you do not have privelges to make changes to the internal or external drive and you get the error message when you try to sync with the information on that drive.
Here's the kicker and million dollar questions:
How did the "Sharing & Permissions" settings get changed on my Hard Drive without me doing it?
Why did my iPhone sync fine yesterday and suddenly today the Hard Drive is doing this?
I have to set all priveleges to all drives to "Read & Write" and that just doesn't seem very secure to me.

  • You do not have enough privileges for this operation

This is what I tunes says when i open it.
Then it works most of the time.  sometimes freezes...
Also can't find lots of songs...

I should have explored other threads before writing this, as I found the answer elsewhere. Turns out, the folder I was saving the podcasts to had been changed to 'read only'. Changed to 'read and write' and podcasts download successfully now. I'm not sure how that changed during the upgrade, but no matter, I'm back at it now.

  • In trying to update to Firefox 3.6.11 on an intel mac g5, I get this message: the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items -- any suggestions? thanks!

In trying to update to Firefox 3.6.11 on an intel mac g5, I get this message: the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items -- any suggestions? thanks!

You can try to repair the permissions for the Firefox application files and folders.
    You can also do this:
    * Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded.
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

  • When I try to upgrade to the newer version of Firefox, this is the message I get (I am using OS 10.4.11): The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.

I have recently dropped Earthink as me dial-up provider. I now am using Virgin Mobile Broadband2GO. I was using Safari. I am now using Yahoo! Mail Plus. It suggested I switch to Firefox. I had an older version of Firefox (2.0.0.6) and started using it. It suggested I needed to upgrade because many of the newer web sites wouldn't work well on this older version. I downloaded the newer version and proceeded with the installation and it would tell me this: '''The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.''' I have re-downloaded and tried it again two more times. I haven't a clue what that means or what to do about it.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
