  • Trying to reload firefox and getting this message, when moving to the applications folder: "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items."

Been having problems with Firefox/internet for several days, and all my updates seemed current. I decided to try to reload and have removed the other icons/download attempts from the app file. When I try to drag the icon into apps, I now get this message:

  • Forbidden  You don't have permission to access / virtualhostname / filename .html on this server.

    Hello Everyone
I've just configured Apache on my Newly upgraded Mountain Lion on Macbook Pro 13.
Steps i followed to activate apache, php and mysql on my macbook pro is as follows:
    http://coolestguyplanettech.com/downtown/install-and-configure-apache-mysql-php- and-phpmyadmin-osx-108-mountain-lion
I've configured the Sites folder and tested the http://localhost and find it working.
I created one file to test php configurations and found that they are also working perfectly.
Now i m creating a virtualhost with the name "rishtey.local" in  /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf as below:
    <VirtualHost *:80>
        DocumentRoot "/Users/YogeshMunjal/Sites/Matrimonial/"
        ServerName rishtey.local
    </VirtualHost>
But whenever i try to access the virutal directory as: http://localhost/rishtey.local
    it gives me following error:
    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /Rishtey.local/default_1.html on this server.
No matter if i am accessing php file or html file, error is same.
    directory permissions are as below:
    drwxrwxrwx@ 156 YogeshMunjal  staff  5304 Dec 14 02:51 Matrimonial
have created httpd.conf file as well in the same directory as:
    <Directory />
            Options FollowSymLinks
            AllowOverride All
            Order allow, deny
            Allow from all
    </Directory>
Still nothing is working at all. please suggest the possible solution with it.
    Thanks in advance for trying...

oh yes.. you are right... its accessible in
    http:://rishtey.local/default_1.html
successfully... thanks for that... first of all
now issue is: when i access http://rishtey.local/test.php which contains just a tag to display php info only...
instead of rendering this php file, it just save the file in the download folder.
what could be the issue with it?

  • The File could not be found or you don't have permission to access it.

I teach Acrobat in a junior college. For an assignment students are to share an Acrobat portfolio file via Acrobat.com. So far two students have attempted to do that, I have clicked the link in the email message generated by Acrobat.com, and in each instance the error message in this discussion heading appeared.

    Michelle,
I don't sign in. The moment Acrobat.com opens, it displays the error
message, "The File could not be found or you don't have permission to
access it." So, I'm guessing that the automatic sign-in email address is
different than the one used when sending me a shared file notice.
People use Acrobat.com to share files with individuals, most of whom
don't have Acrobat.com IDs. Those non-members gain access smoothly.
There shouldn't be a bouncer at the door to refuse entry to those who
have Acrobat.com IDs but who happen to have multiple email addresses.
You need to simply allow entry to all persons receiving invitations to
download files whether or not they have an Acrobat.com ID.

can anyone tell me how to bypass message "none of the updates selected can be saved. you don't have permission." I've not bee able to install iTunes or any other updates on my Mac.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

    HI Emma...
Install the appropriate combo update ...
    For v10.6 > Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
For v10.7 > OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo)
Either combo will reinstall the App Store for you which may help. Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.

  • You don't have permission to access ** on the server, HELP please

For the last months I've been working with Muse and updating my website through Muse without any problems.
I use my extern HTML for update pages in Muse, and usually this went without any problems too.
But if I test my new update, when I want to download a specific clip, it says: "You don't have permission to access ** on this server."
The files are in the correct place on my FTP, the link is correct and when I open the specific link in my browser without using my website, I CAN download the file.
How is it possible that this suddenly doesn't work anymore? Last time I updated this way was one week ago - without any problems.
Can anyone help, seeing I have done everything I usually do, and everything is in the correct place and the link does work.
    Thanks

In my case I have to close/quit Muse. Then re-open the program. For me the problem goes away. This only happens occasionally.

  • "you don't have permission to see its contents"

Upon realizing that a folder of images was missing from the desktop of my new iMac, I did a Spotlight search and turned up nothing.
I went to the backups in my Time Capsule and downloaded the Desktop Folder for Aug 15, a date which I knew to be when I last saw the aforementioned image folder.
After download was complete, the Desktop Folder appeared with a red dot with white dash, and a message "you don't have permission to see its contents" I entered my password after selecting Get Info, and that still won't allow me to see the contents. How do I resolve this? TIA

Sheesh. I just discovered that Migration Asst. transferred my old username over, making my present situation totally confusing. I'm logged in as MBP (which stood for MacBook Pro), which I replaced as my kitchen machine.
Yes, that's what both +Setup Assistant+ and +Migration Assistant+ do. Besides apps, they'll transfer user account(s) and the associated data, with all the permissions intact, so everything will be the same on the new Mac as on the old one.
If, as I remember, I was given opportunity to create a username, I know I chose a new one; then I can't figure why I'd be signed in as "MBP" on the new iMac.
When you first started up your new Mac, after the fancy welcome video and choosing your language, you should have seen this window:

    |
It sounds like you selected the last option, because then you get the prompts to set up a user account. Then you used +Migration Assistant+ to transfer the accounts from your old Mac. That means you had an extra account on the new Mac. That new account had no data of it's own, and no access to the data in the other accounts.
I've got no new content on here I can't live without. I'm willing to insert Mac OS install disk 1 and erase everything on here and start anew. How's that sound?
Hold on a minute. Have you done any backups of the new Mac? If you have, that's going to be difficult.
But if you haven't, and want the new one set up just like the old one, yes, that's probably the best thing to do.
Start up from the disc that came with the new Mac. After selecting your language, select Utilities, then +Disk Utility+ from the menubar on the next screen. Use it to erase your internal HD. Then quit Disk Utility, and install OSX from the disc.
When your Mac restarts, follow the steps in the green box of #19.
When that's complete, and your Mac restarts, it should have all the same stuff, including accounts and passwords, as the old one.

  • "You don't have permission to save in this location." Cannot save any files anywhere. All permissions open, all other browsers save OK in same place. Why?

I cannot save any files anywhere. I always get the message "You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the {} folder instead?"
I have created a clean profile in Profile Manager, and used the Reset Firefox tool. The only way I can save files is to use another browser. IE and Chrome have no problems saving files to the exact same folders.
This seemed to have started with the last update on 10/5/2013.

Maybe something changed in the program shortcut you use to start Firefox. Can you check right-click > Properties > Compatbility tab and make sure nothing is selected there?
''I've never tried this myself, but the forum has a standard set of steps for a "clean reinstall" of Firefox to replace damaged program files. During this process, you are not removing personal settings, but you are removing some shared add-on folders, which would affect Windows Media Player and perhaps other plugins/extensions installed that way.''
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete (or if you're nervous, move or rename) the Firefox program folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox (32-bit)
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox (64-bit)
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
    Does that help?
