You have no Oracle clients installed: Windows XP client to Oracle Linux ser
Hallo! I have Oracle 10g Db running on Redhat Enterprise Linux server. Moreover, I have a windows XP client having Toad 9.06 in the XP client. The client does not have any Oracle Db or Apps installed.
I would like to connect to the Oracle Db sever via Toad. I have placed the server IP on the the IP text box. I placed port 22 (SSH port).I am not sure which port to place.
Unfortunately, I get the error no Oracle clients installed.
How do I resolve this?
Thanks.
You need to install oracle database 10g client on your PC using windows XP.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10201winsoft-095341.html
Go to this link , download and install the client on Windows XP box. Then edit the tnsnames.ora file and add the TNS entry of your database which you want to connect.

I tunes tries to update over and over again to 10.2.2. Each time it fails and lists message"Service 'ipad service'could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privelege to install system services."
I have an iphone and use itunes to update it. I do not have an ipad if that is an issue. Is this problem related to apple, or to Windows vista? I am system administrator on Windows 7 so the problem must be related to apple. I would appreciate a clue as to what I need to do. Or are there sufficient problems with 10.2.2 that I should be happy it will not update? This problem is getting beyond annoying since i have work to do other than cater to apple itunes.I would say it is Windows.
Which are you using btw, Vista or 7?
And did you download the 64-bit version if that is what you run?
There were a lot of tips to troubleshoot (never needed to in 4 yrs though knock on wood).
Uninstall itunes
run chckdsk and sfc /scannow
CCleaner 3.05

LaserJet 2550n network printer on XP host PC, can't install Windows 7 client laptop
Have Color LaserJet 2550n network printer connected to XP host PC. I can't install Windows 7 client laptop for printer. The wireless network is fine, I can access documents back and forth, merely the printer doesn't work and there's no way to download 64bit drivers for this printer from HP.
Resolved, not solved.
I talked to HP product support. The Officejet Pro 8500 A910 will not install on Windows XP (at least the Home Edition) when networked through a router. It will install through USB. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it with only USB connected to clean out all the network printer/scanner information. Product support claimed it would install through an ether net cable connected between the printer and computer but this does little good if you need internet access. -
I have been trying to install window 7 operating system through booth camp assistant, i will finish all the stages for window to complete installation it will hook. the installation cannot be able to complete and i really install windows on it, please i need an assistance on how to go about it.
Right now I have 6 different systems installed. Windows XP, 7, and 8 plus Linux Mint, Commodore, and OS X Snow Leopard (for old times sake), all running on Mountain Lion.
I recommend reading the user manual as it greatly helps getting through the steps, however an intuitive person should pick it up fairly easily.
Thanks to BobTheFisherman for the link.
There are other ways to get Windows on a Mac but I'm a big fan of open-source software.
Give it a try. You might like it or it may not be your cup of tea. -

When downloading itunes to my pc, get error message 'Apple mobile device could not be installed - verify you have sufficient privileges to install system services'
i am forced to abort/cancel. Can anyone help please?Me too. And if someone comes back on here with the same solution of "uninstall and re-install", please provide further advice after you have done that 3 times and the program still has the same problem in addition to the "failure to load the C runtime library" R6034 issue. I have removed itunes 3 times however I do not have permission to remove the program files/apple file and the uninstall doesn't remove it.
You're not alone buddy.

Well I've been trying to find a full installment of Windows 7 32/64 bit Ultimate/Home Edition/Professional but I can't find a disc. So basically I'm asking can I just download Windows 7 from the internet with the product key or do I HAVE TO get a disc and install it through Bootcamp?
I don't know if you can legally download a full Windows 7 installer, but if you can find one, you just need to copy the image to a flash drive. See:

and

Amazon has several different versions of Windows 7 available on disk, though. Have you tried them?

How to tell if you have OEM 12c BP1 installed?
I had OEM 12c installed and attempted to download/apply the Solaris OEM agent software. I ran into the "Below host metric patches are not applied to OMS." error. I discovered this was because I needed BP1.
After 3 days of trying to uninstall OEM, finally got it uninstalled, downloaded OEM 12c w/BP1 and installed it.
Once again, I tried to download/apply the Solaris OEM agent software...and I got the same error message. Very frustrating.
I don't see anything in the "About" pop-up or "emctl status oms" output that actually says a BP has been installed though. Could I have just reinstalled the non-BP version? I got the installations zips directory from the Oracle website that says "Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1) for Linux x86-64
(With Bundle Patch 1)" so I don't think that's the issue. Is there something else I need to do to get BP 1 working??Few things:
a) If you have linux oms with bp1 and want to deploy solaris agents ( with bp1) then you need to follow the steps from this doc:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e35229/aix_solaris.htm#CIHJJGDG
You will be required to apply patches on OMS and plugin homes on OMS.
b) If you want to find wether the OMS installed has bp1 or not follow the note: How to Determine if EM Cloud Control 12c with bp1 has Been Installed (Doc ID 1424439.1) -

Can you have Captivate 3 & 4 installed simultaneously?
Have been working with 3.0 for a long time and considering isntalling Captivate 4.0 Can you have both versions installed at the same time? Does 4.0 install require 3.0 to be removed? Just wondering so I can have a backout option.
Thanks!Hi there

How to run SAP BUSINESS ONE 8.8 clients on windows and use MaxDB on linux/W
Good day,
As the subject shows we have SAP BUSINESS ONE 8.8 and I want to find out how to use it in combination with MaxDB instead of MS SQL. I find a lot of MaxDB stuff on the net but no guides on how to setup SAP BUSINESS ONE 8.8 clients on windows workstations and connect them to MaxDB.
Is this possible and if so how do I go about doing it ?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated .Hi,
I suggest you to check the supported server for B1 in this link:
http://service.sap.com/smb/sbo/platforms
You will know the sap b1 supported platform.
If you really want to use maxDB on linux/W as B1 server, you can send a development request to SAP AG.

Dual Boot Pre-Installed Windows 7 Computer with Enterprise linux
hello house, i have a system with pre-installed window7 and i want to load enterprise linux 5 as the second O.S,to have 2 operating systems on a Pc.how do i go about it?
First, carefully evaludate your motives for thinking dual-boot because just
install VirtualBox or VMWare to run OEL as a virtual guest requires little
system reorganization.
However, if your laptop does not support virtualization then dual
boot is the way to go:
1) Get KNOPPIX or SystemRepairDisk from the net. Or just any live
distribution that includes gparted, which is what Linux uses
for a partition wizard.
2) Use gparted to shrink your Win7 partition until you have
enough room for OEL.
3) Now, reboot using the OEL installation media.
4) Be careful on the disk partitioning screen; you want to "use
available free space" and not the "use all of disk" or "delete
all partitions" choices. This is the critical step to get right
to keep your Win7 files from being deleted.
5) Proceed with default OEL install.
6) Install the GRUB bootloader to the MBR for the disk. GRUB will
then allow you to boot from either OEL or Win
Take a break; you're done. -
Order of installing Windows XP, Solaris & Red Hat Linux...
Hi all,
If I were to install Windows XP, Red Hat Linux & Solaris in intel dual core machine, in which order do I proceed to install. First Windows XP, then Solaris & Linux, I believe. Am I right. If not, please correct me.
Thanks,
...Although posted under different title and content, your most recent thread
Windows and Solaris not booting on a Windows, Solaris and Linux Machine.
is actually the duplicate of this thread.
The right order of install is Windows XP, RHEL, Solaris. Because, if the Linux is the last installed OS, the Linux version of GRUB will be installed on the MBR (Master Boot Record), and you will not be able to boot Solaris. Why? Because the Linux GRUB doesn't currently recognize Solaris VTOC (Volume Table Of Contents) and UFS (Universal Disk Format File System) formats. Only the Solaris version of GRUB works as common loader for Solaris and Linux. Since you installed Linux as the last OS (as per your duplicated thread), you can try to chainload from the Linux GRUB by modifying the grub.conf on Linux, eg:
# cat /boot/grub/grub.conf
default=2
timeout=15
color white/blue black/cyan
title Windows XP
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
title Solaris 5.10
root (hd0,1)
makeactive
chainloader +1
boot
title Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (2.6.9-78.0.1.el5)
root (hd0,2)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-78.0.1.el5 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.9-78.0.1.el5.imgwhere
(hd0) is the first (bootable) BIOS physical disk, and GRUB boot loader is installed on its MBR
(hd0,0) is the first primary partition of the first BIOS disk - Windows XP
(hd0,1) is the second primary partition of the first BIOS disk - Solaris 5.10
(hd0,2) is the third primary partition of the first BIOS disk - RHEL-4
Modify this according to your real disk partition map if it's necessary.
If this doesn't work (at least it should work for Windows and Linux), then I suggest reinstalling all three OSs from the ground up. A year ago I successfully installed Windows Server 2003, RHEL-4.5 and Solaris 10 on single 250 GB physical disk. You can follow my procedure. Before that, boot the system with the first RHEL-4 installation CD, type "linux rescue" and press Enter. When linux console appears, delete all partitions using fdisk. Or, alternatively, type
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1024 count=2048This will erase your Master Boot Record and MBR Partition Table inside it, even much more filling out 2 MB continuous disk area with zeros. Restart the system, insert Windows installation media and start the procedure:
1. install Windows XP as the first OS. If it doesn't matter, create only one 25 GB C: drive on the entire primary partition rather than 10 GB C: and 15 GB D: drives, unless you are not sure Solaris had overwritten the D: drive on the extended partition
2. install RHEL-4 as the second OS. At this point you will be able to access Windows and RHEL-4 from GRUB. Boot RHEL-4 and navigate to /boot/grub/grub.conf. As you might need this information later, copy or make a note of the Linux entry on paper. The entry is something like this:
title Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS (2.6.9-78.0.1.el5)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-78.0.1.el5 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.9-78.0.1.el5.img3. install Solaris 10 (SunOS 5.10) as the third OS. That way the Solaris version of GRUB will overwrite Linux GRUB in MBR and will be installed as the common loader for all three OSs. At this point your system might be set to boot all three operating systems. If not, you will be able to access the Solaris and Windows only. In that case boot Solaris, navigate to /boot/grub/menu.lst and add the Linux entry you copied from Linux grub.conf in the step 2. The next time you restart the system, you should be able to boot all three operating systems using Solaris version of GRUB.
