You have to have windows in order to get Windows?

Hello,
I have had a very frustrating day trying to install Windows 8.1 to a bootcamp partition on my Macbook Pro.
I purchased the software and downloaded it, but it came as a .exe file rather than the ISO I was expecting. Bootcamp can create a boot disk from an ISO. A .exe is absolutely useless to me.
I called customer support, and it seems the ISO is only accessible through running the .exe instillation wizard. So I tried installing a virtual box with my old version of windows xp, and after learning that I can't even view the Microsoft website from the
version of internet explorer I have, I discovered that I can't open the installer window on xp anyway.
So, it seems that one must already have a relatively new version of Windows to even be able to access a newer version of windows. Is Microsoft dismissing the notion of bringing in new customers in favor of solely servicing existing ones? Twice the customer
service reps actually told me I should "go to a friend or neighbor's house who have a 'normal' computer and ask them to download and format a boot disk for me."
But, as much as this whole experience has reminded me why I use Mac, I'm stubborn. Is there any way I can circumnavigate this absurd catch 22 to actually get Windows to do what I've paid for it to do without having to inconvenience my neighbor's?

If the ISO is accessible through running the .exe instillation wizard. You can try to extract the .exe file.
Also since you can't view the Microsoft website from the version of internet explorer,
you can try another browser in virtual box for test.
If the methods still not work, you may have to contact the Customer service for further help.

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

You should be able to update directly. You might just open iTunes to see if you don't get a dialog telling you a new version is available, or check if the Windows version of iTunes has an option to check for updates.

Try disabling or uninstalling it temporarily to see if that clears it up. If that fixes it, you'll either need to talk to the vendor or find another antivirus solution.

You did not mention how you have Windows installed on your computer, however lets get tot he point. There are 2 major methods, using Boot Camp or virtualizaiton software such as Parallels or Fusion. Either way, you should post in those forums. If you use Boot Camp then post in the Boot Camp forum, if you use Virtualization app then navigate to their forums and post your question there.

Hi Bill, your version of Windows depends on the age of your PC. If it's fairly recent, you may have Windows 7, and if it's a few years old, you may have Windows Vista. Windows XP was released in 2002, but it is still common on business machines. Based on the information in your post, you have Windows 7.
The features you are asking about are available in Firefox's menus. When you are running Firefox, you can access the Options dialog either of these ways:
orange Firefox button > Options
classic Tools menu > Options

This message, "You have been signed out of Skype, please sign into an Xbox account to use Skype." has been coming up whenever I've been trying to sign into Skype on the Xbox One...Not sure what happened but all it's giving me is the "Sign in" button, but all it does is just loop me back to the same message... This took me forever to work out but what you need to do is merge your xbox live account and skype account. You can't do it on the Xbox because of the loop so you have to do it on your PC or Laptop.

I hope this works for all of you and merges your accounts properly because it was doing my head in. It worked for me and then I could just sign straight into my Skype on Xbox One.

I don't understand your question. You mention iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad OS) but you say you have Windows 7, and not which of the devices you want to upgrade to iOS 7. Your question about installing iOS 7 is probably best asked on one fo the forums for your iOS device, like the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch forums.

You see this screen when you right-click on the ItunesSetup.exe in your Downloads folder.
downloads>ItunesSetup.exe (right-click)>yourself as admin & UNCHECK THAT BOX!> conntinue with new installation and even find your old playlists still intact!!
This is apparently a Windows XP fix alone. MSVCR80.dll is (probably) reinstalled by Itunes under a partnership aggreement with Microsoft.

Wonder if they have a iPAd 64 GB on storage ...
I do not have the opportunity and call or go there and check. Is the iPad impossible and get the day or do you have to pre-order it?

Right now, most US stores are completely out of stock. All you can do is call a store prior to visiting and see if they have what you want in stock.
Depending where the store is located, pre-ordering can mean a 5 business day wait or a 3 week wait. At this time, iPad is in short supply everywhere.
