You know... I thought it would be easy to migrate ...
My life was a happy place. I had an E72, I had Nokia Suite and I had my own mail server. These three things all talked to each other.
My mail would come to my phone and I could sync my calendar to my mail server (for a backup E72 - Control Panel - phone - sync) and that would work both ways so if someone added an appointment to my calendar it would appear on my phone.
If I got a text whilst I was working at the computer a little icon would appear at the bottom of the screen and I could just reply from the computer.
I could organise all my phone contacts in PC Suite, assigning lots of them to groups in one simple click. These groups had their own ring tones so I could tell if it was a friend calling and could be ignored whilst working or a business call that should probably be taken.
PC Suite would pull any pics or videos off my phone and put them on my computer.
Now I have my Lumia 800. What a nice phone this is......
Getting my contacts across to my phone was quite easy with the 'contacts transfer' facility..... But now all the groups are gone. And how do I go about recreating them... One click at a time on the phone... I don't think so with over 900 contacts in the address book.
My Calendar... This was my brain, everything I had to remember went in here. Appointments, do this, be here. Also I keep the diary for years so I can check when last I did that, went there etc. I can't copy that across because there isn't a 'calendar transfer' facility. I can export it from PC Suite as a vcf/csv/vcs but I can't get that on to the phone or into my live account (not that I really want it on my live account as I have my own mail server, Mdeamon, that will play outlook if it wants to and my other colleagues use it for reminders and such).
So life is a bit ragged at the moment. I'm carrying two phones.. the L800 to make calls on and the E72 for the diary.
Anybody got any suggestions about this?

I have a problem... I want to transfer my contacts from Nokia N9 to a new Nokia Lumia 925, what I am trying to do is to transfer all my contacts (contacts which have multiple numbers under their contact name) over to my Lumia 925 - And I know what you will suggest......
- Transfer contact app - Done that, does not work (only for some of the numbers but not multiple numbers)
- Export the contacts from Nokia Suite to desktop (Vcard format) and converting the files to .CSV. I then uploaded the .CSV file to outlook.com account. However, that did not solve my problem. Still outlook 2010 can not take more than one number per contact in Vcard format either.
- Copying the contacts to the SIM card - Not possible as the SIM is full already (I have 700 contacts).
- I have tried to drag and drop the contacts from the Nokia N9 to the Lumia when they were connceted via the PC. It did not work!
- I tried to conncet the Lumia 925 to the Nokia Suite so I could back up and sync the contacts to the Lumia. DID not work either as they are not compatible.
- I have tried to sync the numbers from the N9 to the Nokia Suite and then extracting the numbers. Did not work as N9 is not compatible with Nokia Suite(?) (error message comes up).
- I have tried to download Nokia OVI Suite but then again it is actually Nokia Suite that gets downloaded and I am back to the beginning.
I am running out of options and IDEAS now. I do not want to think about even getting started with doing it all manually. Why would there be an option to save multiple numbers under the label "other" when you can't transfer it!! telling your customers to input them manually is just to much work, making phones that does not support each other is beyond me...

My old laptop works but is being borrowed and the user account on which my Firefox profile is stored is locked and I don't want to open it for the person who is using the laptop.
I thought Sync would allow me to access those old settings for a new laptop I have with Firefox. Is this possible?Still it does not work, maybe I am not making myself clear, here goes.
It will allow me to login into my sync account on my Mac.

It will not le me login to my sync account on my windows 8.1 laptop, it does not recognise my login information and asks me to create an account.
So sticking to my initial post Firefox sync is pants, it does not do what it is supposed to do sync data between to computers.
By the way I have still had no response from Mozilla, so any help form here would be good. -

I have dozens of legacy BB 8310 curves that I'm trying to configure for staff. Email has been set up fine but I can't for the life of me figure out how to sync contacts from gmail.
I know Google Sync is no longer available, but we don't use Outlook so I have no idea how to have my staff sync all their contacts from Gmail accounts.
Please anyone give me some help here...have researched for hours and I can't figure it out.

As you can see, the device software version you are using is too old for this function.
As far as I can tell, OS development for the 8310 may have stopped in the 4.x range...but it's hard to know for certain. You can dig, carrier by carrier, through the official download portal to find carriers that still support the 8310 and that will reveal to you the exact OS's that are available for it:

Setting up a wireless printer. And I thought it would be easy.
I am trying to set up a new brother MFC-6490cw wirelessly. It recognizes my Airport Extreme as it shows it's name on it's network configuration. (Although under "wireless Link Status" it says "failed to communicate")
I seem to have the up-to-date drivers on my Imac using Leopard but my Airport Extreme does not show the MFC-6490cw. My computer is unable to find it,
What am I doing wrong. I have another printer plugged into the USB slot in the Airport Extreme and it works find.
Is this set-up beyond the Airport Extreme's capability?I doubt the problem lies with your Airport network. Have you tried Brother technical support? Their website has "remote setup software" for download with a release date of 12/19/08. Perhaps that's what you need.

Hi, I had to change my hard drive in my MacBookPro. I was not worried, as I have a time capsul. However, once back with my new hard drive, I have not been able to restore all my info "as if nothing happened".
What can, should, I do?
Thanks for your help.Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your device manually before syncing, you can restore from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Here's how to:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your ipod to your computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your device for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.

Airport Express setup - and I thought it would be easy
I have an airport extreme and an airport express that is set up to stream my itunes to the living room. Both work fine. Today I purchased a second airport express to stream to another room.
I have it hooked up to a stereo system which worked when I had it connected to the working airport express but when i hooked up the stereo with my new airport express my computer can’t find it.
As I sit here it is blinking orange three feet away from my computer but it’s icon does not show up in my airport utility menu so I can’t continue with the set-up.
Do you think it is defective or have I missed something?Have you tried doing a hard reset of the AirPort Express (AX)?

Ok Apple users...Is there a way to delete e-mails on my Mac and not have to delete the same e-mails on my iPhone, and iPad...and vise-versa. I have the Cloud, and thought that everything would sync all of the time. If you know of a setting I need to adjust, please let me know.
Are you referring to @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com emails? Or some other email providers emails?
If the former, it should do that automatically. If the latter, no. iCloud does not (nor is it supposed to) sync non-Apple provided emails. -
Is it possible to automatically trigger a camera when someone arrive in the background hahaha.. Just a wild thoughts you know, like when someone suddenly pop up, the camera will automatically fire. I'm planning to use it in our Horror tunnel this october.
You could try to use a motion sensor - in a do-it-yourself store you can buy motion sensors that turn on the lights when a burglar approaches the property. Connect this sensor to the remote control of your camera instead of to a light.
Probably you can buy ready-made motion sensitive remote controls, the photographers here will know. You would need this kind of remote control for wildlife photography. -
I deleted all my playlist by mistake from itunes. tried copying them to on the go on ipod and thought it would copy it on to my itune but it didn't. does any one know how i can do this without redoing all my playlists. thanks
Are the playlists still on the iPod? If so I can probably cook up a script to read them back into iTunes, or you can check the features of the various tools listed at the end of this user tip to see if you can find one that you want to use.

I right clicked my iPod on iTunes and clicked restore from back up because i thought it would undo my IOS6 update. IT DELETED ALL MY PICTURES (2,000) AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET THEM BACK!!!! Please help me!!!!!

I had some issues with my computer. So, I took it back to the original by installing the original software. The problem is that iphoto doesn't show up anywhere. I thought I would purchase it but it says "what application do you want to use to open it." I don't know what to do. Help please.

3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

Those Apps would not transfer from your iPhone because the iPhone apps are iOS 5 based and the iMac apps are OSX based. They are not the same Apps. You will need to transfer the OSX based apps over from your external hardware backup you have kept up, Or you can reinstall the OSX based apps from their original DVD's.
