OK so a lot of people won't need/understand it but couldn't it have been left in? I've now got two choices, I either use the HH2 crack (does it still work) so I can gain telnet access and add the route there, or change router.
Neither of which I particularly want to have to do just to get my VPN working the way I want it to.

.......... you get to CompUSA and start to drool over a PSU. HAHA Thats what I did tonight. Went in looking around for some new goodies, when I happen to look up on a shelf with a few over so-so power supplys, and saw they had an "Ultra X-connect 500w" PSU. Then my little beedy (sp) eyes started to glaze over, palms started to sweat, heart started racing. I looked around to make make sure there wasn't another geek or two gonna come up and grab one of these little gems out of my little sweaty hand. Anyway, you get the idea.
Man, I really must say, these are some killer PSU's. I just got my system back up after installing it, and it must be my imagnation or something, but my whole system is freak'n acting a hell'va lot snappier. I checked the voltages and its holding just over the numbers on all rails, steady as a rock. Sweet look'n little unit too. With a mirrored chrome finish, UV reactive cables, and was one of the best packed boxes I've seen a PSU come in. Ok, I like it, ok? hehe. Gonna run some tests and see if I can get a few more Mhz now.
Ok, dam it! I'm a believer now..... as well as a geek, it looks like.

devil28, Before I used a Antec truepower 430, and a smartpower 450. Both of which have served me well, but still didn't quite cut it when it comes to powering this system. Imagination or not, I can run a a higher O/C and with tighter timings than I could before, I'm running the 4 dimms in my sig at DDR 400 O/C'd with tight as tight a timings as I could with just two dimms at the same freq. on either of those two PSU's I mentioned. Also, the Sata connectors now come packaged in the newer shipments. Although CompUSA last night had the older ones, but thats not a problem to me.... My HD has both type of connectors. Also, Ultra is shipping out the Sata connectors free to those that buy without them packaged in. The only slight issue I had with the cables is the length. In my case, it was kinda a tight fit, but still worked out wonderfully. Next week I'm gonna get one of the huge a$$ CoolerMaster server cases that CompUSA has... and I mean HUGE.... Awesome case... just can't recall the model atm. I'll look it up.

How do you know your wireless is secure?

I want to know how you know your internet is secure so no one in your neighbor hood can steal or hack my internet service. A few people in our house use a mix between ethernet cable and wireless. I don't use the wireless so i don't know how you set it up on the computer but when you use wireless for the first time to you have to enter a user name and password to access? I just want to make sure its secure. Thank you

Prevent someone from hacking your network.. simple, dont use wireless at all and turn the wireless on the router off. Thats the only option to prevent hacking. All other security settings like WEP, WPA, WPA2 will only slow a hacker down. They will not stop them.
Now if you want wireless, then your only option is to use encryption. Again this will only slow hackers down. But the chances you have a hacker next door is rather remote. Now by default the Verizon router uses WEP security. This is just the basics. Keeps honest people honest. Now if you want to increase your security, you can change the router security to WPA2. Dont worry about WPA as this is basically the same as WEP in terms of security effectiveness. WPA2 is more secure than the other two. This will keep you safe from the novices. Then as long as you dont have an advanced computer user nearby you should be fairly safe.

If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.

Do You Know Your iPod Battery May Fall Under Warranty Replacement?

I have the extended warranty on my iPod Touch. My batter life was horrible... without wifi just playing music getting just over 3 hours. I also had a bad MBP battery. Called up AppleCare and got case numbers for both after diagnosis. Was taking a long drive to an Apple Store with Genus appt the next day...
My name was called and my Genus re-ran the MBP battery check finding it at fault and went to replace it... I said that I was having an issue with the Touch battery as well. He said "You know that the battery is NOT covered under warranty!". I said NO, if a battery is faulty that it is covered under warranty. I told him that it was THE reason that I purchased the warranty... He argued with me about it and I just couldnt believe my ears... I said that all he had to do was go to the Apple site and find the Touch battery warranty description... He started printing out the MBP battery replacement agreement and we had another video test to run on the MBP... he went in the back to get a DVD.
As I sat there I started hearing all the genus say to every customer with a iPod battery issue say that battery replacement cost blah blah blah... no one was asked if they had a warranty or that if the battery was found to be faulty the battery replacement would be covered. One guy came in with his son saying the iPod was a Christmas present and the battery was only getting blah blah hours... Again, he was told that a battery replacement would cost $$$. It was surely under warranty but he was still charged! ***?
My Genus comes back and runs the video test with a Howdy Doody DVD, UGH... anyways... he goes back to return the DVD and comes back with something in his hand, unwraps a Touch and tosses it my way. I asked him what was up? He says that the original Touch battery is not replaceable so here was a new one. I said OK... thinking, why was he giving me one after arguing with me about the battery NOT being under warranty???
So, I guess it pays off to know your warranty with Apple products as the Genus wont offer the facts. Maybe this was just at the Cleveland OH Apple Store. So, wondering if you know that your iPod battery may fall under warranty and if this is a national fraud by Genus?

HT5312 how to reset security questions with no answers but you know your apple id

im trying to buy an album with a gift card i got and it sends me to these two security questions and i forgot both of them. i have a secondary email but when i try resetting the questions it doesnt offer it as a choice

The reset link will only show if you have a rescue email address on your account (an alternate email address is not a rescue email address) and you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions - you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

I am not using anything other than SQLite, which is supported "officially" by the windows phone team. And WriteableBitmapEx for silverlight projects (makes no sense to have it in winRT).
Other than that I don't trust third party libraries, unless I can compile them from source. Some of them are incomplete, have little to no documentation and sometimes even poor performance. Especially things like MVVM helpers or stuff like that.

LocationServices on iPhone..when do you know your location is "good enough"

Hi. I've been having some weird issues with location services and maybe I'm just not understanding it completely. I need to grab the user's location with the best accuracy possible so I gather updates for about 10 seconds and take the update with the latest timestamp. However, this doesn't seem to work out so well when a user (yes this scenario just happened) is on the West Coast and turns off his phone to board the plane. Then he arrives in the east coast and opens up my application. It tries to get his current location, but it doesn't say it's on the east coast. The location still shows a west coast point. How do you guys pinpoint the user's location as best as possible? I've noticed the google maps app seems to zero in on the user's location little by little, but I'm not sure how they are doing this or if this is just some heuristic. I just don't know how long to gather location updates before I know for sure that I can get their current location.
Any help would be great.

Somewhere in the docs or examples it suggested you discard any locations with timestamps that are 'too old'. I guess probably 20 minutes or more would mean stale location...

You know your boss is good when...

Had a boss/employer back in 2007 that was a pleasure to work with and for. Although, to be honest, for the first six months, he was very matter-of-fact, stand-offish and quiet. What I didn't realize at the time was that that's how he 'sized' people up before really interacting with them. But after that, we routinely had lunch meetings that he'd pay for, outdoor 'smoke-break' chat sessions while he enjoyed a cigar, and the occasional 'just because' gift in thanks for the job getting done. He was also fond of sending home little trinkets and things that he'd pick up in his travels abroad. He was the CEO of the company... but it wasn't long before I counted him as a friend.

You are helping to set up something in permissions/on the domain/in AD and he says, "Just one thing I noticed you did wrong, but now realize that you’ve done it a better way," and to change the documentation and update the other stuff to the new way.
This happened to me, and it was a total fluke, and I did actually "mess up" compared to the original way. However, he saw the mistake and thought about whether or not it could be better. I really respect him for not thinking that the old way is the best way, and taking the time to think about it.
Any stories that you have about understanding, thoughtful, progressive, or otherwise "good" bosses?

[Package Quiz] How well do you know your installed packages?

While checking around and having fun with pyalpm library (alpm wrapper for python), I created a really simple quiz game. It askes you questions about installed packages on your system. Get it! (only 2.4 kbs)
It doesn't have a aur page because I don't know how to do that stuff . In order to be able to run it you will need to have pyqt and pyalpm installed. Then just run gui.py

First of all, thanks for your feedback. I agree that installed size questions too hard too. I might just remove them, it is quite easy. But about the descriptions, I directly use the package description on the system. The one you get when you issue pacman -Qi somepackage. Otherwise it would require tons of time adding description for all the packages.
I guess next thing I would do for this project is to balance the difficulties.

HT2518 how do you know your user name and password?

I'm trying to use Migration Assistant to move data from my PC over to my new iMac. It wants a name/password. Everything I've tried (which I've always used) doesn't work...???!!! Help! How do I find out my name/password for Migration assistant????

Password for the Mac. It is trying to write to the Mac hard drive in an area that is restricted and only access by typing in the Mac Admin password.
Or at least that is how I see it.

Migration assistant really doesn't work. Even when it looks like it is working it leave you with unintended consequences.
Also there is Nothing on your Windows PC that the Mac can use. No programs or settings. The only thing you can use on the Mac from Windows are your presonal files, Music, images and office data files.
So it is easier to just copy them over to the Mac then using MA, as you may have found out.

Did you know that using the erase feature for stolen iPads can fail? Mine did and was not detected for 10days.

Thursday(day 1):Had an iPad2 wifi only which I rarely used, stolen.
minutes later, pulled up findmyphone on iCloud and put a lock on iPad and then erased the iPad.
Sunday(day4) : I noted websites opened on my iphone that I had not opened.
Monday: Spooked, I went to genius bar was informed that it would have been wiped since the thief had been hooked to wifi and thus the iPad would have been erased.
Sunday(day 11), my iCal has been deleted totally from all my devices (iMac, iPhone, MacAir)
Monday (day12): I go to genius bar with Time Machine backup drive and some magic is worked to recover it. The conclusion was that the thief of my iPad wiped it out. And, " there are always ways to get into the iPad if they really want to with firewalls etc....". And I needed to change my iCloud password (which the first guy did not suggest and stupidly I did not presume I needed to do).
Monday: (day 12) Password changed. OK, done.
Wednesday (day14): I open my photo stream on the iphone and see screen shots of websites dated from as recently as day 10! These of course showed up on my iMac and my iPhone amongst my own photo shots. Talk about feeling violated and failed.
Moral of story: Can not trust that the erase feature works.
Change every single password you have as there is not assurance that a track has not been made.
And, do not have more than one user on your device: such as your spouse as their stuff could be compromized too.

The pages panel is not the place where you see this information. You can customize the Links panel to show all sorts of things, including the page number, effective and actual ppi, and whether the link is OK or needs updating.
