Let's put this "Steve Jobs" response in perspective....
Yes, the question went to one of Steve Jobs known email addresses. His mostly publicly available one at that. Yes, Steve has personally been known to answer a few emails from this account. Let it be known most emails sent to this account are answered by someone else other than Steve Jobs - this has been known for a long time.
Now in reality, also what is the chance he is personally sitting there answering the public's emails on the release day of Apple's biggest product launch in history with an "issue" that seems to be affecting a large number of the devices. I'm pretty sure he has been busy on conference calls, in meetings, etc! Even if he was to make a public response to this "issue" it wouldn't be in a single email to one person!!! It would be on a video or in writing on Apple's web site and would probably come after hours of meeting with lawyers etc. It most certainly wouldn't come in a couple word email response to an individual iPhone 4 owner. My guess is whoever did respond from Apple through the [email protected] email address with this is probably now adding to the high unemployment rate in the US.

I'm trying to save my videos in imovie before deleting imovie, so i can then download the new imovie from the app store.
I've moved the videos i want to save to a folder on my desktop. How do i move this folder onto my external hard drive?????

I rarely use iMovie so I'm no expert, but the default location for movies you have created in iMovie is Home>Movies>iMovie Libary.
Are the videos you copied earlier movies that you've created out of videos you have shot, are they just stand alone video clips that you intend to create movies from?
I store my 'un-iMovie'd' videos in the Movies folder and then import them into iMovie to create a movie. This movie file then gets stored in the iMovie Library Folder.
When launching iMovie the default would be for it to automatically select the iMovie Library in the Movies folder. Any projects that you've created previously would normally be located there.
You can see what library it is using by holding down the Alt (Option) key as you launch iMovie. You can also use this method to select another library.

You are talking to fellow users on these forums, not iTunes Support or Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your phone number from your post.
For the Camera app, try closing it via the taskbar and see if it works when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Camera app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the iPad's screen, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't fix it then try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
In terms of syncing, you will need iTunes on your computer - if you haven't already downloaded it then you can do so from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
You can conncet the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar on iTunes 11 on a PC via control-S), and use the tabs on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to sycn your content to the iPad.

For the excel file, what app are you viewing/editing it in ? If the values are different then it may be that the app that you are using doesn't support all the formulas that are being used in the spreadsheet. Apps that 'support' excel documents include Apple's Numbers app, and from third-parties apps such as Documents To Go ('premium' version) and QuickOffice Pro HD.

Wrong video format!

I have converted a VOB file to a QuickTime MOV file which plays fine in QuickTime and iTunes, however it will not sync or stream to my ATVs saying it is the wrong video format. I can convert it to MP4 via Handbrake and the resulting file will sync but the quality is not good. Can anyone explain why the MOV file will not work and how I can correct it without degrading the quality?

mov is not a format it's just a container much like avi are just containers
why your handbake convert is poor quality is most likely because
1. you set the quality settings wrong in handbrake
2. you're trying to play something which is higher res then the 720P the atv process video at

Let me start off by stating that I'm no professional nor do I have the extensive knowledge to tell you exactly what wrong. What I know is from plain research I did when I was trying to decide wether to upgrade my macbook 6,1 (late 2009) model to 4GB or 8GB. Which by the way, what is your MacBook ID? 4,1 or 5,1 or 6,1
What I found is that Apple says that my Macbook 6,1 can only go up to 4GB of RAM but it can actually go up to 8GB. From the explanation they gave I understood that Apple, states what that particular machine can be upgraded to at the current time that model is manufactured.
I learned a lot mainly from different forums on the internet and the comments of people.
Try this web site macsales.com and see what they suggest you upgrade yours to.
The web site also helps you find you exact MacBook model to be able to upgrade accordingly. Heck you may also get a tech on a chat line and he can tell you what's wrong with your current RAM.

My macbook pro freezes and then displays a blue screen with black stripes... do you know what's wrong with it?
I have a two and half year mac book pro... I've had some issues with the screen looking scrambled when I quit certain applications, but now it's turned into something worse. I'll be working on my computer and the thing will freeze. When I force restart, the first screen, the apple logo, will be a blue tint and won't boot up normally. Then I try safe mood and it will then boot just fine. But there are blue stripes on my screen. The screen alternates from a blue tint to normal and if the computer freezes again the screen will become completely blue with black stripes. I haven't tried reinstalling my software because I don't have the startup discs that came with my computer. If I was sure that would fix it I would purchase them, but if it's a hardware issue I'm afraid that I'm screwed. I've been able to successfully get the blue off my screen by putting it to sleep and then waking it up, but that's not working well anymore either.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Is it the firmware or what? I have a MacBook Pro from early 2011 and I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I just experienced this exact same issue with my early 2011 15" macbook pro. Since like a month after purchasing it I had issues with the screen randomly going dark on me. I sent it in for repair inder waranty they replaced the gpu and logic board but I continued to have the same issues with the screen randomly going black sometimes I would need to reboot it in order to get the screen to go back on but it happened so infrequently and I used the computer for school so disnt find the time to resend it in to apple. Just last night the screen started to display the blue screen with black verticle lines on it. I called apple and explained to them the issues that had been ongoing since I purchased the laptop but they said because I was now outside of warantee that any repairs at thia point wouldn't be covered. Fml so glad I spent 2200 on this future proof macbook pro what a joke my sister purchased a toshiba laptop for 300 4 years ago and it still running like a champ. I loved my macbook but at the price I paid I expect it to last longer than 2 years before leaving me high and dry. *** apple??

See if working on the main disk is any faster.
USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go. And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too. FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't.

Hello, I have a question regarding the sharing on iMovie. I have just recently purchased an Elgato Gaming Capture HD and I then finished my recording with that and put it into imovie. I worked long and hard on the project and when I go click the share feature on iMovie all the noral options pop up and when I actually click where I want to share it to nothing at all happens. If you know what is wrong/ what I am doing wrong please let me know.

I'm not entirely sure that you are right or wrong on the phone recording issue. As soon as I hear the Verizon message state that "This call may be monitored or recorded for quality and training purposes" I flip my recorder on. I always tell Verizon that our call is either being recorded likewise or that it might be monitored by other ears. I do this at the get go so that names are recorded and I hear their response. A lot of the times the reps, some who work in a call center and some who work from home, some surrounded by screamin younguns and barking dogs and cats fighting....they will flat out refuse and say that THEY don't record the calls, that someone at Verizon does, and if you want to get a copy of the recording that there is a number to call, "I'll get that number for you, one moment........::click.::" Some say, "Don't tell em you're recording since they told you the call is already." The recordings says "MAY" which isn't a guarantee that it is. Best to be upfront since, if the rep[ knows their stuff, they might not mind as much and there's nothing like trying to use in-admissible evidence.

If you set the aspect ratio to 4:3 in iPhoto
you can use the Export button at the bottom of the slideshow window and pick one of the sizes you'd like.
That will give you this format:

Why don't you use several layers with appropriate alpha properties, and move these layers according to the mouse events?

1) hit the "Camera" icon,
2) next click the small thumbnail of the previous picture you took (bottom left),
3) now click the "camera roll" button at top left of screen
4) now you will see headings, "All" "Photos" "Videos", at the top of the screen. This will let see all your videos grouped together, but it takes too many steps.
THE BAD THING IS, you can't do this if you go into "Photos" directly. Your videos are mixed in with your pictures, and you can't see the videos all together like when going into the "Camera" app.

Plays wrong videos

Please help!! I use iTunes to do all (manual) syncing for my 160GB 6G, videos play fine in iTunes itself but on ipod you select one video and it plays another, completely randomly. Have tried restoring and resyncing without joy. Same applies for video podcasts. Music so far is fine, although haven't listened to entire library admittedly. I have all windows/ipod/itunes updates.

When you say you've tried restoring and resyncing, have you actually gone through the process of wiping the entire iPod using the restore iPod option (so that it is completely empty)?

Have you tried putting just one video on the iPod all together? What happens now? Then throw a second one on there, but of a different category (so if you've got a video podcast, put a TV Show on, etc.). Do these two videos play fine?
