You Tube Edge vs Wi-Fi Quality

U have recently noticed on my iPhone that when i use you tube over wi-fi, the picture quality is perfect, but when i use you tube via Edge, the video is blurry and low quality. I have checked the same video with wi-fi and also edge and it comes perfect on wifi and blurry on edge. I tried to restart the phone many times and checked and no use. Also every video has the same problem. Has anybody noticed this kind of issues?? Is it a problem on the software side or hardware side?? Could somebody please help me

The iPhone will access what is called a "reference movie" and depending on connection speed either download the lower quality one, or higher quality one.

I was reading a thread on this last week and the consensus seemed to be that YouTube is scaled down for EDGE use...
I've noticed that the scaled down videos will load as quickly as the full size ones do on WiFi, but there are times I would be willing to wait a little longer for a video to load to get the better quality when I'm using EDGE... grin (Like when the video quality is already terrible and it comes out looking like an old Nintendo game unless I'm on WiFi. It's hard to convince people it's funny when they can't see it.)
That aside, I'm still impressed on the whole...

Why is the sound quality on my imac so poor when watching you tube

I have no problems with sound quality on my Imac(snow leopard 10.68) except when I try to watch you tube.
Then the sound is really low,muffled and there seems to be some sort of static in the background.
As far as I know all flash player updates have been installed.
Cant find anything on google.The problem seems to have started over the past 6 months to a year.....there wasnt a problem before.
Can anyone help?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue with the sound not working correctly from your HP ENVY 17j100 Notebook. The first thing to try is this
1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
2. Click Playback Devices.
3. Click Speakers.
4. Click properties.
5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
7. Apply the properties.
8. Click OK to close the properties window. Restart your Notebook.
If this does not help try HP support document No Sound from Speakers. It has a number of good troubleshooting steps including using the built-in Windows troubleshooter.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that might need updating. If an update is needed this could cause sound issues.
The Troubleshooting tool in Windows 8 can automatically fix common problems with your computer, such as audio recording. Here is a link to this.
If you still want to disable or uninstall the Beats follow these instructions. To enable or disable Beats Audio, press the fn key in combination with the b key. The Jack does have influence on the Beats Audio which might need to be turned off.
Here is a document on how to uninstall software. The bottom link shows you how to disable software.

I'm sorry you've lost files, but when you set up an account as Guest, there's a message that clearly states "When a guest user logs out, all information and files in the guest account's home folder are deleted". If you want an account where files are retained, you should create an Admin or Standard type.
You will need to use data recovery techniques to see if your file can be recovered. The more that you use your computer, the greater the risk that the file will be overwritten. You can contact a professional data recovery service such as DriveSavers (which will be expensive, but you can judge the value of the file) or try something like Data Rescue. The latter has a demo which you can install to determine if your file can be recovered, and then, on purchase, you can actually recover the file.

Audio Quality issues in You Tube

Hi Guys
I am really struggling to work out how to submit my music video to 'You Tube' without severe degradation of audio quality.
V. Happy with the vid. side - H.264 output with optimised parameters on all fronts (debatable I know - but I guess I'm aware of those parameters)
Trouble is the whole point is the music - which just loses it.
The export from origin added to project in Premiere is 24bit, 96khz sample rate - mastered to optimised preference and sounds pretty cool in direct
comparison to random productions from other sources.
(ie: your favourite band music through stereo system (decent speaker output) via CD Rom)
Have attempted all available audio parameters within CS6 to no avail.
Whatever I do - the audio sounds the same ie: diminished
I know 'You Tube' compresses again but how can I avoid this? - Would love to hear from anyone who has had, is having the same issues!!
Suspect that this requires some kind of server side 'pay for' service, I just can't identify where.(or that my master is crap)

You won't even get CD quality sound out of YouTube, let alone anything approaching 24/96 quality. I think you're only avenue for delivering that is DVD-Audio, which never really took off.

The quality of my video is great, but when I upload it to "you tube" yuck!

What is happening? My video ends up being kinda blurry. I look at other people's you tube videos and they look just fine. I upload right from iMovie. Can anyone help??

Thank you for the response, I looked for the "Watch in HD" button when I pulled up my video to try it but didn't see that option anywhere. Also, I don't have to do that to watch other people's video's and most of them look just fine. Should I have uploaded it a different way from iMovie? Actually, I don't even think it gave me any other options than just "upload". I appreciate your response.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
There are a number of factors in the 'speed' equation. Any or all of them can affect the 'observed' speed of your connection.
1. Are you in a neighborhood full of WiFi routers (and thus, lots of WiFi interference)? I can 'see' at least 22 other WiFi routers from my living room!
2. What is the maximum connect speed and band and bandwidth available from your wireless router. Is it 802.11n or the older 802.11a/b/g? 300Mbits or 150Mbits? 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz or both? Does your router measure (QoS) Quality of Service and can it change 'channels' automatically?
3. What is the observed strength of your wireless connection? Are you getting at least 80% signal when connected? Are there other people in your family also using significant bandwidth at the same time (Netflix, streaming video, streaming audio, game systems)
4. What is the "advertised" speed of your current ISP connection?
5. What is the measured throughput of your current setup. Go to speedtest.net or use the free speedtest.net app available in the App Store. Try several times, from different locations in your home, and at different times of day and night.
I have AT&T DSL advertised at 3Mbit/sec down and 512Kbit/sec up. My Speedtest.net measured throughput is about 2.4 Mbit/sec downstream and upstream is about 0.4Mbit/sec. I'm using a Motorola Netopia 2210-2 DSL modem. I have no problem viewing YouTube videos and other mobile video content on the iPad 2. I'm connected wirelessly to a D-Link DIR-655 Gigabit router rated at 150Mbps at 2.4Ghz (only) with 802.11 b/g/n enabled. The interior of my home is within a range of 30-50 feet from the router and no more than 1 wall. It is a single level concrete slab foundation of about 1500 sq. ft. with cathedral ceilings. I have successfully streamed ESPN3.com on my MacBook at the same time my son was streaming another ESPN3.com game on his MacBook Pro. I've streamed YouTube videos while my son was watching a NetFlix movie on his Wii game system. He's also successfully used Skype for extended 'teleconferences.' None of my devices are connected to HDMI on a large screen TV. 95% of the time, I can do iChat video without any signal breakup to my son (who is at a college with a Gigabit (1000Mbit) wired connection!). 5% of the time the connection drops. We haven't tried FaceTime (designed for mobile connections to be much less bandwidth-intensive, from what I understand) simply because we both have iChat on our computers.
So for me, a 3Mbit DSL connection is absolutely adequate, given all the other parameters mentioned. As the car manufacturers say, "Your mileage may vary."

I want to use the moivie again in another movie or DVD menu or just to save it etc. I cant't find the location after uploading to you tube.
The only way to this can not be "export to media" or devices and from there to you tube?

Yes, i found it there. In fact; a logic place...
The second q. means the way you load upo; dirtectly from the menu share to you tube of first make a QT and from there to the sky.
I quess there must be no differance but you never know...

You require 3G for video streams to play.. Normal GPRS (2G) will not work..
Even if your Service Provider activates this facility your phone should be compatible too.Nokia X3 can handle EDGE so if you want to go for the Data Plan with Higer rate (cost) first confirm if Video stream will work or not.. because with EDGE also the stream may not be as smmoth as you want...

How to use You Tube clips in Final Cut Express?

I'm trying to use some You Tube clips in a Final Cut Express project - purely personal.
What I'm doing is this:
Play You Tube Video
Capture it as a Movie using ScreenSnapz Pro.
Saving it as a DV / NTSC quicktime movie - w/ 48 hz audio under Screensnapz options.
When I put it into the Final Cut Express timeline, it does not require rendering (I have loaded the DV/48hz sequence preset). But... the audio seems slower than it should be and the video is VERY much slower than it should be. The audio and video are not synched).
Other clips imported from other sources (such as video taken from a DVD using DVDxDV) is working fine.
What am I missing here?

Don't use ScreenSnapz Pro, anything you get from that is not going to be as good quality as simply downloading it directly from the source.
1. Use [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com/|click here to download] to get the file from YouTube using its "Open URL (Cmd-U)" function.
2. Export to Quicktime (Cmd-E) using these settings:
Compression: Apple DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
Frame Size: 720x480
Frame Rate: 29.97
Quality: 100%
Sound: Uncompressed Stereo 48kHz
Use a DV-NTSC sequence within FCE.

Using You Tube video clips question:

After importing several clips from You Tube (of varying quality) to incorporate into an editing project, the clips look okay and play full screen, in the "source" window, but when I put them in the timeline and play them in the "program" window, they are thumbnail size. Why does this happen? I tried converting...but still no luck.

yeah, i beg to differ on this. i have 100s of videos on youtube i did back when it first started before i saved my finished projects... (from 2005-2008 i would just record, edit, post, delete, because it was just random junk of me hanging out with friends, or just v-logging about stuff i needed to blow steam about) so one of these days i'll have to go through and download them and burn them for archives. You Tube HD Video

Many of you are probably aware that You Tube now allows the uploading and display of HD video. I use iMovie HD6 to create, edit and share videos on You Tube. I have been experimenting with HD video uploads, but have mixed results. Is anyone having success with HD on You Tube?
My issue is that my HD videos on You Tube display in HD but have a LOT of motion artifacts and are blocky. I have consulted various help forums to try and resolve this issue, but no luck. Videos I encode for You Tube HD are H.264 compressed videos. The presets I use are as follows:
File Format: MP4
Video Format: H.264
Date Rate: 2000
Image Size: 1280 x 720HD
Frame Rate: 30
Audio: AAC 192kbs
Frames: 24
These are the share settings other You Tube users have used successfully in uploading HD video from an Intel Mac. I use an Intel MBP. The original source video material was shot on a Sony HDR-HC7 camcorder (1080/60i HDV). Still frames captured from video shot on this camera have a resolution of 1920x1080. But I am not sure if this camera has the capability of shooting at a high enough resolution for You Tube HD videos (i.e. 1280). Could this be the source of the problem? Or am I using the wrong compression settings?
If there is anyone familiar with uploading HD content to You Tube that has had success, please let me know. I will provide you a link to the You Tube videos I have posted that have the motion artifact/blocking problems.

How do I match that with what PRE7 gives me for options? I tried using using other formats and have not stumbled across one that works even in lower quality widescreen 16.9 settings.
If I have a bunch of video saved to my hard drive as the following which preset get me the wide screen HD?

If my source is the issue can I do something about it? Shot in a 110 wide angle...looks like You Tube gets 4.3 aspect no matter what?

Any recommendations on the best settings for exporting a video from FCP to post on MySpace or You Tube? It has to be less than 100 mb, but still retain as much quality as possible.

Get you tube to play videos in 1080p HD by default

Does anyone know how to set a you tube default so all videos playback in full 1080p HD. It's so frustrating and a little ridiculous if it's based on internet connection so you tube chooses etc; as it chooses my videos to play back in 480p, but if i manually change to 1080p it plays back fine in better quality without any lagging or buffer stops - so i just don't get it. What's the point in uploading anything in HD? Please help.
