You tube -virus? maybe on java- flash player?

I'm having trouble viewing things on youtube or other sites that are using flash player- A pop up is appearing in the middle of the viewing area and is asking for asking for permission to access.. i always hit no - but it is annoying and is worrying me that i could have gotten some sort of bug- i was trying to find a way to uninstall these programs and reinstall to see if that helps but being a new mac user i can not find how to do that ! i need help what should i do!!!

If you want to uninstall Flash Player there should be an app in your Utilitiies folder called Adobe Flash Player Install Manaager. Run that and it'll remove all traces. Before that, check the Flash Preferences: System Preferences>Flash>Storage tab - maybe you have selected 'Ask me before allowing new sites to save information on this computer'. Changing it to the one above: Allow sites to save...... will get rid of the prompt.

  • You Tube wont play now that Flash player has been updated

    Hi guys
I'm new to Mac and not a rocket scientist so I'll try to explain my problem and hopefully someone can help
I bought this new Mac Book Pro in Glasgow about three months ago, I remember at first that youtube wouldn't play so I called the Apple care centre who gave me a very simple fix which I can't remember
Last week I got an alert from Adobe Flash Player to download a new version which I did, unfortunately my youtube has stopped working (a message appears in the centre of the intended video saying that I have to download flash player etc)
Called the tech guys again and they did the usual uninstall and re install etc on both Adobe and Java all to no avail.  They told me it was an Adobe issue and that I should call them, when I called Adobe, guess what? they said it was an apple issue !!  Back to the beginning
Can anyone give me a hint as to how this can be resolved pleased as I'm at the end of the road in terms of ideas.  Please for my benefit could you keep it as simple as possible
    Appreciate your help
    Thanks
    Bill

You have 2 versions of "Shockwave Flash" (Adobe Flash Player) installed; one very old version (7.0 r19) and the current version (10.0 r45). You can see both "Shockwave Flash" plugins by going to Tools > Add-ons > Plugins. You can disable the old version 7 there.
    <u>'''To disable the old version'''</u>:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Using+plugins+with+Firefox#Managing_plugins
    <u>'''Remove the old plugin'''</u>
    1. If the old version 7 is showing as "Adobe Flash Player 7 Plugin" in your Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, you can remove it from there; click on it, click Remove. See: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Uninstall-or-change-a-program
    2. If the old version 7 is not shown in Add or Remove programs, see: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins#Manually_uninstalling_a_plugin . Some of the old plugins are in the Plugins folder of your programs Firefox install folder and can be renamed or removed from there manually.

HI, I downloaded the new flash player and I still get the above message when watching youtube. It popped up after watching one video then clicking another.
    PLease help
    Shane

I have the exact same problem and I am going in circles trying to install and use Flash Player. But nothing seems to work. Now I cannot watch ANY videos on Youtube, I cannot use Google Maps (Street View), Pandora Radio is kaput, and so.
I used to get the same notice:
You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video.
But now I don't even get that. Just a black box and nothing else. This is ridiculous.

  • Could you please let me know if Flash Player will inform a user that his system requirements are insufficient when trying to use a given version of Flash Player?

    Hi,
Could you please let me know if Flash Player will inform a user that his system requirements are insufficient when trying to use a given version of Flash Player?
    Regards

It depends, but in general, no.
The guidance on minimum system requirements is mostly about what we will and won't fix bugs for.  Flash Player probably works on Windows Server 2000, and we're not going to intentionally break it or prevent you from installing it, but we're also not going to fix it if it breaks.  In instances where it's going to crash on launch or have some other horrendous out-of-box experience, like attempting to install on a PowerPC Mac, then we'll prevent the installation outright.

I cannot view videos without them constantly stopping.
I have been told that I need to use adobe flash player.
When I try to load this, though, the download will not work.
A message apprears to say I must turn Mozilla Firefox off.
Please can you explain how I can get around this ?
Please note, I am not very good with computers, so it would be good if you can make the instructions as basic as possible.
    Many thanks !

  • Youtube not dispaying properly since yesterday - ok in google chrome - have latest java & flash player

when i open a youtube video page i get several lines of text display at the top. This isn't the text normally displayed by youtube. The actual video window appears as a small black square and beneath this is the video title. The video doesn't play. This started happening yesterday, after i downloaded a file unlocker and the browser got hijacked by funmoods! i've since got rid of this but now youtube won't work.
i have since downloaded the latest version of firefox, adobe flash player and java but it has made no difference. i can send you a screen print (t won't paste in here)
it works fine in google chrome (which also got hijacked by funmoods, since sorted).

  • Possible Virus, duped copy of Flash Player?

When I was browsing on www.imgur.com the browser window went white and a small window popped up telling me that I needed to update my flash player. There was no way to close the window, and whether I close the pop up or click on update it takes me to the following page:
To prewarn you, when you open this link a file called setup.exe will automatically download
    http://downloads.stazva.com/FPlayer/UK/auload.html?installer=Flash_Player_13_for_Other_Bro wsers&browser_type=KHTML&dualoffer=false
Clearly this website is intended to look like your own install site, and has the link to McAfee security too, but I don't believe this is the official Adobe flash player. While it says I can check the adobe terms and conditions once again clicking this downloads setup.exe
I ran Kaspersky antivirus and it found a number of problem files, though had no issue with the setup.exe file itself.
Can anyone help me as to whether I'm being too suspicious, or affirm my fears that this is some kind of virus?

  • Is there a virus connected to a flash player update?

two weeks ago I downloaded an update to flash player.  after that i started getting the blue screen of death and it would shut off IE.  I took it too a repair shop and they said I needed a new hard drive.  I had one installed and all my files copied over.  Got it home and started getting the blue screen of death again.  Ran Norton and another virus check and it said there were virus if a few programs and finally it locked up the computer.  Last week i had my desk top and i also updated the flash player and with in 20 minutes after got the blue screen of death on it.  I ran my Mirco Tred Titamium anti virus and it locked up the screen, would not let me uninstall it or any thing. so needless to say both are in the shop getting their memorys erased so I can start over.  Is there a virus sneaking in with the flash player that the anti virus programs are not catching??

Norton is a nasty business; I have experienced this myself a few years ago.  If you try to start your computer with their expired software, they will crash it HARD!
Regarding Flash Player, try a clean install by following these instructions: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315
then download the appropriate offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#Ins tall_in_a_firewall_proxy_server_environment
In the futute there will be no more need to download updates; Flash Player will be silently update in the background.

  • Is there a app for java/flash player

    Hi
Is thre a way of using java/flash or an app so I can chat to my friends online ??

    No Java, no Flash:
No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."
