I already know that there are several threads for this issue and I tried the method explained but without success.
My wife's iPhone has a number of updates, but when I click Update all the above mentioned message comes up. I went, as described, to Settings -> iTunes & App Store -> Apple ID -> View Apple ID and changed the store there to Germany (as required). I completed all steps to the end but I still get the same message. When I go back to check the store it shows Germany, not US, yet, I still cannot perform any updates, which is realy annoying.
I tried to log off then back on again... I still have the same issue. I tried even in iTunes on my computer, but it's the same. No matter what I do I cannot do the updates!

Edit: I noticed that the only way to do the updates is to log her off, then log on using my apple id, then it works.

There is nothing to fix. The system is working as designed. Apple content is forever associated with the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. If the content on your wie's phone was bought with your Apple ID, only your Apple ID can update, redownload and authorize the content for use on Macs, PCs and iOS devices.
You solved your own issue by signing into the correct Apple ID that can update the content. Your wife's Apple ID will only be able to redownload, update and authorize for use, content that she actually bought with her Apple ID.

We do have a place in the UK which we could use as an address, but for various reasons it gets a bit complex even though we still have a UK bank account. We moved to France when there were no iDevices and apps around, just bought the occasional music, so it wasn't a problem. Funny thing is I can't even download the free UK bank app because it's not available in the French store .
I'll live with the problem for now as we plan to move back to the UK in a year or so - we miss the weather . -

I think I found a fix...I went to Settings, iTunes & App Stores, then click on your Apple ID...view Apple ID...change country region to USA (even though it was already USA...just do it again...go through the steps making sure the United States store is selected...agree to the Terms of Service, THEN I think what the key is is to RE-auhorize your credit card...in my case all I had to do was enter the security code...and it worked...I am now able to download the YouTube app for example...couldn't do it before. -

Ysterday I updated to the new IOS6 on my Iphone 4. The phone service is provided by the Softbank carrier in Japan but I am an American and my Itunes account is U.S. After the update I get this warning when trying to install app updates "Your account is not valid for use in the Japanese store. You must switch to the U.S. store before purchase." This is something that must have occured during the the IOS6 install so my question is how do I get my Iphone 4 to recognize the U.S. store again?
Open the App Store and tap "featured", go down untill you see your Apple ID... enter there and tap "View Apple ID"... it should automatically ask you if you want to switch the store. Switch and thats all.

My app store and itunes store are stuck in Japanese store. I already moved to the Philippines for about a year ago and my stores still won't change its location.
I already changed the region/country in my apple id. I tried to sign out and sign in back to my account. Tried it in app store, in itunes store, in settings app, in itunes in my laptop, in the apple website. It shows that my apple id is already set to Philippines, no matter where I sign in my account.
The problem is when I open my app store (or itunes store) in my iphone, it appears that it is in the Philippines store; however, when I sign in my account (and I tried to sign in everywhere), I cannot download any app from the Philippine store. When I try to download an app, it always says "Account not in this store. Your account is not valid for use in the Japanese store. You must switch to the Philippines store before purchasing." I have read everywhere and most of the answers say that it should automatically direct me to the correct store. It doesn't happen to me, apparently.
I have the same problem in both my iPhones. Both are iPhone 3GS and in version 5.1.1. I don't want to upgrade to iOS6 so please don't tell me to do so. Thanks!try logging out of of store and then log in again

Are you certain that you are signed onto iTunes & Apps in the Canadian store?
Settings>iTunes & App Stores, click on your AppleID, and then click on View AppleID. Type in your password, then click on Country/Region. Once there, follow the prompts and then select the Canadian Flag.

Checked Apple ID and country is set to Australia....never been to US....Help1111Alright, let's check with iTS to see if they can confirm the nationality, and perhaps anything else that may be problematic with that account.

Try going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your device and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section and select Ireland.

Thanks in advance!i have the same problem. but, as a temp solution try to use iTunes in your pc/mac & sign in with your device's iTunes account and change the store location to US store & download the app to your (iPhone-iPod-iPad)*
* you must enable Automatic Downloads (Settings ==> iTunes& app stores ==> Automatic Downloads ==> switch apps to ON)
