Your Favorite UI and Why

Title pretty mcuh says it all. What's your favorite UI on your Android device and why?
Personally I like stock Andtroid. Can't stand any other UI other than Sense.

ADW Launcher.
Speed. Stability. Options.
- 5 rows and/or columns on the home screen instead of 4
- up to 7 screens**
- resizable widgets (make a 2x2 fit into a 1x1 - way cool)
- customizable 6-icon Dockbar
- customizable up & down swipe gestures
- Sense previews, or not (also cool)
- scrollable widget support
- theme support
- custom desktop indicators
- live wallpaper support
- these are just a few of my favorites since they are just too many options to list them all...
But mainly... Speed. Stability. Options.
I haven't seen an ADW induced FC in weeks.
ADW dev got it right... and he isn't trying to impress with excess, just reliable functionality, yet his creation just blows me away.
I used to use LauncherPro till the updates (and ensuing problems) got out of hand, like the recent barrage of Beautiful Widgets updates.  Too much too fast.  BW went from awesome to garbage in about the last three weeks (IMO).
I might go back to LP & BW at some point but I'm waiting till some recent issues are sorted out...
** I read a thread earlier on the Market where some guy was screaming for a NINE screen option.
Man... if you can't make do with 5 you're doing it wrong...  I'm still on 3, using Smart Shortcuts or Apps Organizer...

    My favorite one is SE84 Repository Information System. I use it regularly to find objects in repository, like database tables, views, table fields, function groups, function modules, programs, logical databases, message classes, message number, SET/GET parameters, transactions, variants, screens, business add-ins, customer exits, change requests and authorizations.
    A useful hint: You can also search by application hierarcy. For example, in 4.6c to find customer exits within MM, do as follows:
    1. Start SE81
    2. Select subtree MM with F9
    3. Click Information system. SE84 is displayed.
    4. Click Envir. and then Exit techniques and then Customer exits. Click enhancements. A search screen is displayed and development class field is pre-filled.
    5. Press F8

    clearly SE80.
    Starting 4.7 you have a button on top of the tree navigation where you can click the information system.
    So you have (at least) three transactions in one: SE80, se84(85 and SE38.
    I wonder why still some people prefer SE38. It's just SE80 minus functionality and overview plus wasted screen space.
    Is there any existing function you can execute from SE38 that is not available in SE38? A lot the other way round.

    In Premiere Element 9, how do you save your favorite "transitions" and or "effects" to a folder like all the Premiere Element versions, theres no right clicking.
    Does anyone know if the Panasonic HDC-tm700 1080/60p would work in version 9 ?

    In 60p mode, it uses a proprietary system that most third-party editors, including Premiere Elements, have problems with.
    Using the software that came with the camcorder to convert it to 60i seems to make it compatible.
    I'm not sure why Panasonic decided to make its video format non-standard. But it looks like the easiest solution is to edit that 60p video pretty much only with the software they give you with the camcorder.

  • I get the message "an error occurred while loading your favorite themes" and my persona rotator won't work. Please help?

    I usually use the Persona Rotator using My Favorites as its themes to rotate. Lastely my rotater has not been working. I click on Tools, then Personas, then My Favorites and am asked to sign in to use my favorites with the Rotator. I follow all these steps and all seems to go fine, except my Persona Rotator does not rotate. Again I click on Tools, Personas, My Favorites and there is a message saying "an error occurred while loading your favorite themes" and therefore won't work. I don't know what the problem is or even exactly when it started, but it doesn't work and I'm most disappointed. Please fix or help me to fix it so I can enjoy my rotating themes again.

    In order to switch to another persona that you had previously installed, do the following:
    #Go to ''Tools'' and click ''Add-ons'' (or click the Firefox button at the top left and click ''Add-ons'').
    #Switch to the ''Appearance'' tab. You should find your previously used personas in the list.
    #Find the one you want to use and click the ''Enable'' button.
    To uninstall the other ones you can click the ''Remove'' button on them and they'll be uninstalled instantly.

    They have the following steps:

    1. Insert the Mac OS X CD.
    2. Restart the computer.
    3. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the "C" key to start up from CD.

    5. Select the hard drive to erase.
    6. Click the Erase tab.
    7. Select the volume format from the Volume Format pop-up menu.

    I'm not sure if I'm obtaining what I want; Zero erase then reinstall. I'm using my OS X Leopard Install Disk. I did steps 1 - 3. As I held the "C" key, I got a gray screen with the Apple logo and a spinning icon below. It did this for about 3 minutes (my "c" holding finger was getting sore )
    I never got a step 4. It went straight to "Choose a Language" I did: English
    I never got choices 5 to 11.
    I got the screen showing the drive and asking if I want to install. I continued.
    I then opened the "Options" tab. There I could erase existing OS install and then reinstall. There was never a choice for "Zero All Data."
    I'm currently letting it do it's thing and it's in stalling, about 26 mins to go, already been about 20 mins.
    Did I miss something, or is the "zero" option not the same for Leopard?

    If you are referencing a specific web site, there is no way to determine who is set up as administrator. Contact the web site directly.

  • When you must start your own thread and why people shouldnt have to

    I just wanted to say that I get pretty annoyed when a Moderator is extremely rigid in their interpretation of forum rules.  Especially when it comes to telling people not to resurrect old topics.   
    If posting on old topics was bad, you should just close any topic with no responses for 30 days.  But you don't because that would be absurd.  Just because a topic has not had replies in 6 months does not mean the thread has run its course.  It may just be waiting for someone with more information, better information, or just better discussion.
    You know why it makes sense to jump on another thread?  Because most users likely dont stop by to help others on a regular basis, I certainly don't, and forum moderator make up the bulk of responses and are not always the most helpful.  But I get notified when someone posts to a thread I am already participating in.  So it brings me back.  So if you have the same issue, or more info about an older thread, by all means please post in it, to bring me and everyone else back with new information we may have learned.   You instantly get an audience of people that know something about your issue.  And it makes threads more complete, because so many times threads just fizzle out with no conclusion until someone resurrects them. 
    I just want to throw that out there, because this is an MSI user forum, and I am sure a lot of users would like to avoid repeating themselves, copying old info from older relevant threads into a new one.   There is a reason you tell people to search, because there is relevant info already there, and if their issue is the same, then they should be able to add to that thread discussion.
    Hijacking a thread is completely different, and should not be tolerated when your post is not relevant.  Resurrecting threads should not be discouraged if they still have travel left in them, because it brings people back and makes thread that you search for more complete.

    It is always best to offer individual personal assistance with each OP's concerns. A large percentage of the time, the people that hijack or re-open old threads are just plain lazy to open their own, and often don't even have the same mainboard or exact same hardware. Two identical boards and hardware configurations can run and perform different due to variances in the actual components. To make matters worse, some give absolutely no system component information on which to base a suggestion or recommendation on anyway.

    Rules are rules! What's the point of having them if not enforced? There is a distinct difference between 'rule' and 'guideline'.
    Typical example of a hijacker! Doesn't even list the CPU they have! If it was up to me, I would make signatures mandatory at the time of registration! Too much time back and forth is wasted asking for it. Then, a common response is that they don't think it's relevant! Say what? It wouldn't be asked for if it wasn't 'relevant' to provide a better troubleshooting strategy.

  • Informal Poll - What is your fav distro and why.

    I am curious as to what version of Linux is prefered and why.  I have been using OpenSUSE for my desktops and Ubuntu for servers for the last few years and would be interested to see what others favor and why...
    I have six computers all running Linux:
    Workshop Bench (forensic tools, disk drive tools and software recovery tools) - OpenSUSE (KDE) 13.2 tumbleweed.  Intel Core2Quad 8800
    Home Server (Cloud service, Print Server, Backup Server, Media Server) - OpenSUSE (KDE) 13.2 tumbleweed.  Intel i3 2350
    Web Server (Public Webserver, Cloud and Scheduling) - Ubnutu (hardened) 14.01 LTS AMD A6
    Three loaner computers, all AMD A6 based machines - Linux Mint 17.1
    So far the least troublesome have been Ubuntu / Mint computers.  OpenSUSE seems to be the best KDE platform but I may need to switch to the stable release tree when the next iteration is released.  Linux Mint is the most user freindly of the Debian crowd, with good feedback on all counts.  The Ubuntu desktop was not well recieved, most thought it was just too "ugly" to be useable.
    I am dual booting my G580 between Windows 8.1 (factory OS) and Mint at the moment.  As a point of interest - my gaming computer and my better half's computer both run Windows 7 at the moment.  Will not be moving to Windows 10, mostlikely to Mint.

    Lame is an encoder that you can use to produce MP3.
    The encoding options for Lame are :
    ) Constant Bitrate (CBR)
    This is the most basic. In this mode, the bitrate will be the same throughout the whole file. So, a second of audio from one part of the file takes just as much disk space as a second from any other part of that file -- regardless of whether either part is silence, acoustically simple, or quite complex. This means that you are likely to hear distortion more in the complex parts than in the simple parts. The advantage of CBR formats is that even older players understand them, and that you can reliably predict the file size from the duration of the sound (or vice versa).
    2) Average Bitrate (ABR)
    In this mode, you tell the encoder to aim for an average bitrate that you specify, skimping on the simpler parts of the music, and using higher bitrates for the parts of your music that are more complex. The result will be of higher quality than you'd get in a CBR encoded file of the same size. This mode is highly recommended over CBR. This encoding mode is similar to VBR.
    3) Variable bitrate (VBR)
    In this mode, you say what level of quality you want in the output file, and the encoder compresses each second as best it can to get just that level of quality -- using less information to represent simpler parts of the song, and more information to represent the more complex parts. However, this mode relies heavily on the encoder's model of how you percei've quality, and could lead to a few "bad choices" in the encoding process. If possible, you may want to specify a minimum bitrate (e.g., 64 Kbps) to avoid those potential errors.
    A good tool to use to encode is Cdex .5, it incorporates the Lame encoder.

The lady at the end of the line, was very nice very accomodating and effortlesly proceeeded to de-subscribed me, and even asked, "Do you want a refund for this account" so make sure you make it clear you want a refund because otherwise they will simply stop future payments coming out. it is clear that customer services are very very well trained in handling what they know is happening every day, complaints and refunds, and they happily oblige, lets face it the number of us asking for our money back is few in comparison to the hundred and thousands who dont even know whats going on. This is a multi million dollar law suit waiting to happen, any one out there with the time and money to take this giant fraudster on will make a difference.- These fraudsters are pretty cleaver a couple of pounds from hundreds and thousands of people accross the world will make anyone a multi millionaire if not billionaire. They still make you go through hoops to get your money back- sending you an email, then you have to apply for your refund quoting the refence number they give you and it can take up to 7 days and maybe 48 hours to get the email from them, basically they hope you dont bother feeling happy that they agreed to refund you. Do note that the advisor's are so well trained that they will not argue with you, will not agree or disagree to anything you say, simply give you a reference number for the call  and a reference number for the refund, thanking you all the way. Thousands of us have made millions and the same thousands of us can BREAK THEM-PLEASE GO AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK TODAY!! and  lets show them that covert fraudulent business will not get the better of us all the best I hope it helps and dont take no for an answer!!

    I had my heart set on the black 16gb model this morning when I arrived at my AT&T store around 6:00am. I was lucky number 13 in line and waited patiently as the employees arrived. Then around 7:15 am the manager came out and said tell me which model you want, and i will tell you if we have it or if you will have to order it. He came through the line and got to the man in front of me and asked the question.
    The man said 16gb black. The manager says, sorry we will have to order that for you. You could see the disappointment in this older man's eyes, but he accepted that as a real sport and said, Okay...
    Then it was my turn, and I knew the info I dreaded and said, give me a 8gb black... not thinking of the storage i really needed. He gave me my packet, and continued through the line and got three people away from me and it hit me what I just got myself into. I politely asked him, can I please change my order to the 16 gb white? and He allowed this, and that is what I purchased!
    I have been told all week dont get that white version that looks like a girl phone, but as I left the store, I realized that I wanted the white all along....it is beautiful! I love my new White 16 GB iPhone 3G!!!!! and by the way, fingerprints barely show on the white!

    I was #23 in line at my closest Apple Store. I too, had my sights set on the Black 16GB. When I was led into the store, I asked to see a white demo unit (just to make sure). I looked at both colors for about a minute or so. One of the employees nearby was biased towards the White one. I finally said, "I'll take the Black." The one helping me said, "Very cool," and went in back to get one. When he came out he stopped in his tracks with a white box and said, "Oh right. Black." and spun around. I stopped him and said, "Wait. Let's go for the White."
    I'm really happy with my last second choice. The fingerprint thing is indeed, "Very cool."
    Oh, and they had all sizes and colors when I was there.

    To restore the menu bar see [[menu bar is missing]].
    For it crashing, the [[Firefox crashes]] article is a good starting place. If it submits crash reports to Mozilla, can you post some of the crash report IDs (the link above shows how to find them). The crash report IDs may help somebody identify the cause for your crashes.

    What application is set to open PDF files? If you CNTRL click on the file and open with Preview does the problem occur?
    If not change the default application to open PDF files to Preview.
    You can do this by highlighting the file and either use CMD i or Get Info , this will open a window with the info on the file with an option to change the application that opens the file.
    That's all I can think of.
