Your help needed converting video to digital
How do I convert video to digital using a G4 Powerbook, Canopus 300 & Imovie HD 6.0.4.
Steps needed, please.
I have VCR, G4 Powerbook, Canopus ADVC 300 and Ilife 08 and/or Imovie HD6.0.4.
Another poster said I needed to purchase Ilife 08 to make it work, but after the software arrived, it required G5 hardware to fully install. Not happy with that.
Is there a workaround? Please advise.
Assuming that you have VHS tapes that you want to convert to digital to use in iMovie? Is that correct? If so, you can find helpful information in these threads:

i have a movie which is in MPEG movie format, and i tried syncing it to my ipod. a pop up then says that the type of movie was not supported by my ipod, so then i checked out troubleshooting and said that it was recommended to convert which is in the advanced section of the itunes bar. after the conversion, i then synced it to my ipod. the video is playing but there is no sound, not even on itunes...

Hi plz help
I have made presentation in flash cs4. I have one main file Index & loading rest all the files through LoadMovie.
I want to convert my presentation into AVI for video but when i export it in avi so it converts in AVI but its not taking the file which m loading externally & not even converting the movie clip.
so please help me i want to convert my presentation SWF files to AVI.
If anyone knows the free converter tool so plz tell me.

Need help in converting video files for Zen Micr
I bought my Zen Micro M to the HQ for servicing and I learnt that there's actually a video converter when we install the creative media source into our PC. Now my problem is that I did not see any converter except the audio converter. What should I do? Or do I have to download a converter from the net? If so, can someone be kind enough to tell me where should I download the converter from? I'm a complete IT idiot -_-

Help needed - 7 videos in one dvd but new to video
Hi,
I'm a print designer with no knowledge of video editing/dvd creation based in the UK, and I have been tasked with compiling a training video consisting of 7 videos (supplied in different formats, sizes and frame rates).
I have built a project in Encore with a menu system and imported the videos as separate chapters which seem to be fine in preview but I when I burn the dvd some of the videos are not showing the text properly and they seem very jumpy. Do I need to encode all of the movies to the same settings, if so what setting would be best to use?
My deadline for this project is tomorrow as it was a last minute idea.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated and might save me from a nervous breakdown!

MarkI hope you found a way to make this work, and that my response is irrelevant. But I worry about what problems you may get in taking different frame rates and trying to export them all to a common format. I don't disagree with Hunt, but we don't have enough information to anticipate how Premiere may throw you some curves.
You can have videos with some differences in Encore, as long as you don't mix things on the saem timeline. I haven't tried it, but I assume you can mix different format timelines in a playlist. You don't say what the different formats, etc, are, and that can make a lot of difference. For example, I hope you're not mixing NTSC and PAL!
Another approach to your problem was to make each video its own timeline, and do a play all through use of a playlist. Then take only the videos that have problems and work them in Premiere. The method that requires the least knowledge on your part would be to delete the problem timeline and video, edit the video in Premiere and modify as needed (size, framerate, or whatever), and export to a DV format (ignore the avi, you will probably use a quicktime/mov file). When you import as timeline to Encore, you are bringing in as a new name.
You don't say what version of Encore. Here is help for CS5 and the formats accepted by Encore for import.

Need converter - analog to digital via firewire
I'm looking to buy a converter to convert analog (VHS home movies) directly into iMovie via firewire. What are you using and have you had any problems? Thank you for your suggestions.
My Analog to DV passthrough settings memo:
1. Take the tape out of the camcorder
2. Connect the analog device's audio and video to the camcorder's minijack, use the S-Video jack for video if the output device supports S-Video
3. Put the camcorder into VTR-mode
4. Select A/V->DV out: ON, in VTR mode's menu choices
5. Disable the info display on the the camcorder by toggling its DISPLAY button
6. Put iMovie (or other DV application) to the Camera Mode
The analog image should now appear on the camcorder's screen as well as on the iMovie's screen.
Note that if you have a tape in the camcorder, you have to put the camcorder's VTR into REC mode (you may pause the tape) but this is not advisable because it produces wear to the tape.
* Note that the SCART which comes with the European nEUtered TRV320E camcorder is Out-only.
Is it possible to install iMovie 4 on an Intel iMac
I believe iMovie 4 works only on PPC Macs. -

I have the following MSSQL code which I need to migrate to Oracle 10g. The problem I am having is the MSSQL code creates a temp table as the return type and I am unsure how to get the same functionality in PL/SQL.

Help - Need OpenGL Video Card for G4 with ADC
OK, I've got a G4 with 1.8 GHz Dual Processors. I just upgraded from FCP 5.1 to FCP 6.0 and it tells me that FCP 6.0 doesn't like my video card because it "doesn't support OpenGL." So I need a new video card - problem is, my G4 Quicksilver utilizes an Apple Flat Screen with ADC connector. I really like the Studio Display and don't want to change it. Does anyone know of a video card with "OpenGL" (that will work with FCP 6.0) that also has a ADC connector????
Thanks, GilbertAs far as I'm aware, the Radeon 9000 is ATI's most powerful card with an ADC connector and the GeForce4 Titanium is nVidia's, although I don't think either supports Tiger's Core Image etc.

I can't convert to ProRes as I don't have FCP 6, so how can I convert my AVI files to something usable in FCP!? I've searched and searched, but all the help forums only touch on doing this with ProRes, which again I DO NOT have on my version of Final Cut.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm going out of my mind.

Desperate Help needed! Video breaking up...
I'm in a situation where we have serious deadlines... and the exported video from Compressor is unacceptable.
I am importing video AVCHD video, which is interlaced, into Final Cut from a Sony HDR-S11. Here are my settings:
Sequence Preset: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 1440x1080 30p 48Hz
Capture Present: HDV-Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)
I am also importing TIFF images which are 2-3mb in size and of varying size ratios. I am dissolving in between TIFFs, video etc. It's a straightforward documentary.
I have exported the whole thing into a self-contained QuickTime Movie using "Current Settings". This video looks fine.
My settings for Compressor are:
VIDEO:
H.264
Key Frames: Automatic
Frame Reordering: Checked
Data Rate: 464 kbits/sec, Optimized for: Streaming
Best Quality
720x405
AUDIO:
AAC
96Khz
Best
Filters:
Deinterlace (Algorithm Odd)
Watermark
Now... the compressed final product looks okay until I reach the section with TIFF's. It's as though sync is lost. The picture begins to break up, flicker and flash, until it "stabilizes" again. It doesn't happen with all the pics, but just a few of them.
Does anyone have any clue what I can do to fix this?? The killer for me is that it takes Compressor about 7 hours to export one 27 minute video. Ugh. That's a day of waiting to see if changing this or that will fix this. And since I'm stabbing in the dark, this could take days.... and I just don't have that.
Thanks for reading this far!First, you can export short sections in compressor by defining ins and outs in the preview window, so you should be able to troubleshoot this problem in a reasonable time.
It's hard to know what's going on but wondering if the "video" is out of spec at these problem sections. In fcp, turn range check on for both excess luma and chroma and see if there's a problem at the points your seeing problems in the compressed file. -
I am dead in the water here. No matter what I try to do I get

So far I have uninstalled then reinstalled dreamweaver, I
also removed any reference to sitemapeveryday from the registry,
all to no avail. HELP!!!I am an author of sitemap everyday.

I am having a very hard time explaining to my client what
format it is that
I need these images in. I'm getting the feeling that I should
really have
more than just 1 graphics app. in order to do web design.
Because I only do
this as a sideline, and usually pro bono for charities, it's
hard to justify
the expenditure.
Hopefully the client will agree to pay to have the starburst
recreated.
