Your Iweb video on TV? ?

I have been looking over some of the I web sites out there and to say the least I was impressed, entertained, amused, and informed. Some excellent sites!
I am just inquiring as to how many of you with short video blogs from around 30 seconds to 5 minutes would be interested in having them viewed on some local Television stations. I've produced some shows and am thinking of doing something with all the great material that is out there produced by us regular people. A chance to show your talents and attract an audience to your web site. Sorry, all glory no pay at this time.
You would have to send a tape or DVD ( with a self-stamped return thingy if you want them returned} If I get a good response, stay tuned. We'll talk some more.
Thanks for your interest.

  • Iweb video storage

At the moment I have several videos stored on my .mac account. I web wants my videos stored in my movies folder on the HD. How do I get iweb to get the videos already stored in my .mac account that are all ready in use in my old web site. I want to redo my web site with I web but don't want to fill up my hard drive. I have 2gb of space in my .mac account and I like storing videos and pdf files there now. Why does Iweb need thngs in special folders? etc... just learning I web Thanks

When you publish a site with iWeb you get a new folder in your iDisk called Web, this is where your iWeb site resides.
Your old address, assuming you are using homepage is:
    http://homepage.mac.com/username
You are correct, iWeb will create a new address.
    http://web.mac.com/username
You can either stop using your old url, or put a redirect on it to your new site.
No need to delete your old site, but you will end up with everything on your iDisk twice, as iWeb creates the site from scratch. Be aware that you can link to your old pages from within iWeb if you really dont want to re-upload movies, but of course you will have a different look and feel.

  • Viewing iWeb Videos on PC

I just published a site via iWeb that included videos from iMovie. The published site plays fine on my mac, but not on any pcs. Any suggestions on how to make this work?
    Thank you

Be sure that the PC has Quicktime for Windows installed. What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Take a look at the tips in Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site: How to get your iWeb Site to load in Internet Explorer. There may be something there that will help.

  • Is there any way to put a Message Board into your iWeb website?

I really want to set up a page so that my friends and family can leave me messages on the website. Something like what offexploring, com does. Is this possible?

You can build forms that can allow commenting on your site. You will need to sign up for an account and then the sites will help you generate forms. Then it will give you an html code, copy and paste this code in your html snippet option on IWEB. I am not exactly sure what kind of commenting you would like to do but these two sites can get you started. You will probably want Haloscan.
    www.haloscan.com
    www.wufoo.com
Or you can build a blog page, and your viewers can add comments to your blogs. Here is the IWeb video tutorial.

  • Can you use soundtrack pro's loops in your youtube videos or do you need to purchase a license since it is royalty free?

Can you use soundtrack pro's loops in your youtube videos or do you need to purchase a license since it is royalty free?
I understand they are royalty free, I am just confused about using the actual loops for films, videos, etc - if there is a special license you must purchase or what?
Yes sure, it's a library and may be used a lot - but is it legal or against agreement?
And to clarify - what about music I create on the program , that is ok right?

If you purchased the software you have the right to use the loops that came with the software in the software to make whatever you want.

  • How can you get your iPhone videos to compress to one video instead of 5 different frames?

How can you get your iPhone videos to compree to one video instead of different frames

It sounds like you to 5 separate videos. If you start recording, then stop it, then start it again, you will have 2 videos. Not 1. As for splicing them together, you will need a video editing package for your PC. I don't know if Windows Movie Maker (or whatever they're calling it now) can handle this or not. On a Mac, I'd say just use iMovie.

  • Hosting Your iWeb Site From Your Mac

If you don't have a .Mac account or you don't want to pay a monthly fee to host your new website you created with iWeb, you can use OS X's built-in Apache Web server. To accomplish this, follow the steps in the link below.

I was able to get this to work, using the same configuration you mention. The way I did it was to set up the IP address on my LAN using fixed static addresses, and to have the router "forward" the http packets to the Mac running Apache. In Network system preferences panel, you also need to set the DNS servers address to the address of the router on the LAN. In order to reduce hackers trying to break in, I don't use the standard port 80 for my address, but use some other 4-digit port (e.g., 8182), so my website address ends up looking like www.whatever:8182. Instead of "no-IP.com" I used the free dynamic name service from http://www.dyndns.com/. I also put the web content on a firewire disk, which requires a little editing of the httpd.conf file. This was another security precaution. Anyhow, its been working great -- not a single problem. Also, Weblock is great shareware that lets you assign login IDs on the web folders.

  • Is there a way to have files available for download on your iweb site?

Ok here's the question. If I wanted a image file or music file to be available for download on your iweb site.....would that be possible?
Kind of like when you go to a website and sometimes it has a link you can press to download a file. If you click the file then the "save as" or "download" window opens depending on your browser.
Is something like this available on an iweb site? If so then how would you create something like that? Any help would be appreciated.

    audiophiler,
There are two ways to link to files with iWeb. The approach that iWebFaq outlines results in iWeb making a copy of the file in question and storing it in the domain.sites file. Then, when it publishes your website, it puts a copy of the file in the right place in the folders it publishes. Visitors to your site then download that copy.
You are correct that you can put things in your public folder of your iDisk for download. But the process of linking to those files is different. When you set up the link in iWeb (using the inspector) you need to choose "external link" and provide the url of the file in question.
For more background on the differences between these approaches, and the advantages of each, see this thread. That thread also has some good links for sorting out what the url of the files in your public (and other) folders of your iDisk are.

  • "Problem with Your Audio/Video Configuration"

"I Tunes Has Detected a Problem with Your Audio/Video Configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly."
Does anyone know why I'm getting this error message? After getting it, I usually cannot hear any sound on I Tunes or other media players.
I've already tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers and it doesn't help. I also have the latest version of I Tunes. Any ideas?

I had this problem also and uninstalled and then reinstalled Quick-time yesterday and the problem was solved.
However when I turned on my PC today, I had the same problem again but this time uninstalling and reintsalling Quick-time is not working.
Anyone any other suggestions as to how to fix this problem?
    Thanks.

You load them into iTunes and then sync them to your iPad. You'll then find them in the Video app. For detailed information, consult the iPad User Guide; the sections on Synching and Videos will be most applicable. Then if you have specific questions, post back and we can help further.

Re: iWeb play buttons not working and your fix about showing the different elements of the page.
I too had problems with the slideshow play buttons not working (iWeb '09). Whether I published to a folder or the internet, the buttons just wouldn't work. After spending much too much time on it, I almost gave up. Until I read your post about one element overlapping another. Although my problem was slightly different then the one you were addressing, your post gave me the answer I needed.
Here's the problem and the fix:
I created the typical 'Photos' page. But I got too fancy and that was the problem! For design reasons, I put a frame around the outside of the 'Photos' element. Using the 'Shapes' tool, I created a frame with a thin ruled border and had a 'fill' of 'none.' The 'none' fill made it possible to see the photos and buttons through the frame I made. Kind of like a hole in the frame so I could see through it. It was the last thing I did, so it was on top of everything else. It was the top element on the page. AND THAT WAS THE PROBLEM: IT WAS THE TOP ELEMENT. IT BLOCKED THE BUTTONS UNDERNEATH FROM WORKING! Even though I saw the photos and buttons ('Play Slideshow' & 'Subscribe') through the 'hole' I had in the frame, the frame was still on top and blocked the buttons from functioning. iWeb didn't recognize the 'none' fill and saw the frame as completely opaque. As soon as I made the frame the back element on the page (Arrange>Send To Back), all the buttons worked!!! Everything looked exactly the same to the naked eye as it first did, but now iWeb saw it differently and everything, all the buttons, worked.
Since this situation doesn't seem to be documented anywhere in iWeb, I thought I'd pass the info along.
Although I still have some things that bother me about iWeb, the program is looking a lot better to me today then it did yesterday!

  • IWeb Video Frame Size Limitation?

I can't seem to be able to place a movie into iWeb that is any larger than 640x360. It seems that when I try to drag something larger than this into the program, then part of the video gets cut off. Is this a limitation of iWeb '08? Is there any way around this? Does anyone know if this gets fixed in iWeb '09?
    Thank you.

The default page width in iWeb is only 700 px wide for some reason.
I use a "standard" page width of 980 px because this will fit most screens without the viewer having to scroll horizontally and also translates well to the iPhone.
If you increase the page width to a bit wider than the size of the width you want the movie, then it will stretch.
This is done in the Page inspector Layout menu.
It also helps if you "Show Layout" from the view menu or do Shift - Command - L.
This will show you the edges of your page.
