Your SAP BW system can only operate in client 001

Hello,
After installation of SCM 5.0, we did client copy from 001 -
>800.
But when we execute RSA1 we got the error message:
"Your SAP BW system can only operate in client 001"
Is this because of client limitations?
If yes, how it can be solved.
Incoming days we are going to upgrade to SCM 5.0 from SCM 4.1.
Will  it cause a problem?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Tushar

Dear Naveen,
It worked. Thanks a lot. But still have a logical system issue.
RSA1>message appears->
"Logical system name has been changed for the
system"
When I gave logical system of client 001 to 800 then it worked.(with  RSADMINA has entry now 800 which was changed from 001).
It still not working logical system of client 800.
I afraid, we will face issue after upgrade to SCM 5.0.
I hope client will not modify after upgrade to SCM 5.0 in RSADMINA.

Tushar Chavan

    Hi BI Experts,
I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version and I could successfully login into the system.
When I run RSA1 Tcode I am getting error message You can only work in client 001. Can some please advice.
    I appreciate all your input.
    Regards,
    OSR.

    Hi,
Since BI tables are cross-client, BI can work only in one client. By default BI is configured for client 001.
If you want it in different client, you change it in BWMANDT field of RSADMINA table.
    hope it helps.

  • Message 'can only work in client 001 during data transfer

    Hello Experts,
Recently I setup a interface between ECC and SCM system for EWM, my data transfer was working fine until last couple of days when I getting this error message on the SCM side.
Message in CFM2 comes up as
    Function/Q/SAPAPO/CIF_LOC_INBOUND
Text:        You can only work in client 001
And not sure why because I have not made any changes to settings.
Can someone please suggest what might be going wrong and what needs to be done?
    Thanks
    Bhaskar

    Hi Bhaskar,
I have not worked on EWM, and don't know if CIF connectivity is used differently.
But let me try to propose a general way forward based on your error message.
It seems that your CIF data is trying to reach a client where you are not authorized to work, or where CIF settings are not maintained properly.
Should be linked to RFC connectivity between R/3 and APO (unless it's due to some SAP bug).
    Check out the following:
    1) Which APO client is your CIF model pointing to? You would most likely be able to find this out by seeing the name of "logical system" for your CIF Integration Model (IM). It seems the CIF IM is pointing to some client which is something other than client 001.
Also, my guess would be that this client that you maintained in CIF IM is no longer having settings relevant for CIF, or something else.
    2) Go to your APO system, and again cross-check which client you are using. Next go to /n/sapapo/cq and see which R/3 systems are having active connections to your APO system. The "logical system" corresponding to your R/3 system/client should be there in the list. if not, ask your Basis team if they made any changes recently.
PS: I would assume that you should get this same error for CIF of any object, not only material (unless the corresponding IM points to a different client in APO).
Let me know the results of your checks, and if this helps you in finding out the root cause.
PS: Logical system normally would have a naming convention like <System name>CL<Client>. e.g. PR1CL310. Here PR1 is system name and client is 310.

    hi
    You can also try this
You need to make client XXX as your default login client. For this change the value of profile paramter login/system_client accordingly in RZ10. Further execute the function module RS_MANDT_UNIQUE_SET in SE37 with value of i_mandt being set to client XXX (in general the client where you want to execute this transaction).

    hi,
check oss note 522569-BW: Working in several clients (especially APO 4.x/SCM 4.x)
    and thread
Re: Is it posible to work with multiple clients in BW?
    hope this helps.
    522569
    Symptom
You cannot work in several clients in the BW system or in a system that uses BW as a basis (for example: APO Demand Planning).
    Other terms
MANDT, client, source system, APO, SCM, ERP, Bank Analyzer
    Reason and Prerequisites
In BW, master data IDs and dimension IDs are taken from number ranges. The BW objects against which the number range intervals are client-specific are cross-client objects. As the IDs must be unique, these may only be determined in one client. This means that BW can only operate in one client.
The BW objects are cross-client. They can be accessed and changed to the same extent in all clients. BW is displayed identically in all clients. In particular, there is only one Myself source system as this is used to generate the change log for ODS objects. Therefore, when the Administrator Workbench is started, the system checks to see whether you are working in the same client in which the Myself source system was created.
Some extractors from the APO system only work in the client in which the data was created (this is due to the fact that the LiveCache is used). As the Myself connection does not change the client, the extraction of this data must be started in the same client in which the APO data was generated.
For more information about client-dependencies for SAP APO and SCM 4.x, refer to the paper "SAP APO 3.x & SAP SCM 4.0 Multiclient Capabilities" in http://service.sap.com/scm -> mySAP SCM Technology -> "Installation, Upgrade, Migration, System Copy, Client Dependencies". The direct link for the paper is: http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700006688312002.
    Solution
Particularly in SCM/APO it can make sense to use several clients for BW in the SCM/APO system, because the SCM/APO Customizing is client-specific. CAUTION, this note only applies to SCM Releases as of 4.0. For Releases below SCM 4.0, see note 384057.
In SCM as of 4.0 (BW 3.0), it is possible without a BW modification to log on in several clients and to also use the BW functions in these. In addition to this note, you must also take some restrictions and other information into account. This information is maintained centrally in the paper mentioned at the beginning of the note.
    BW 3.0B
Import Support Package 2 for Release 3.0B (BW3.0B patch 02 or SAPKW30B02) into your BW system. The Support Package will be available once Note 493971 "SAPBWNews BW 3.0B Support Package 02", which describes this Support Package in more detail, has been released for customers.
    Proceed as follows:
The default client must still appear in the BWMANDT field in the RSADMINA table. Under no circumstances must this entry be changed. Otherwise it may be impossible to use the data in all InfoCubes and all master data tables. Numbers are taken and only created in this client.
Using transaction SM59, create an RFC destination for this default client with the following attributes:
    RFC destination (name)
    Connection type:         R/3 connection
Client:                  Default client from the RSADMINA-BWMANDT table
The connection must have a password or it must be set as a Trusted System. It must be possible to log on using this connection without additional passwords being requested.
Enter this RFC connection in the BWMANDTRFC field of the RSADMINA table.
When you work in different clients, you must take the following restrictions into account:
    BW releases lower than 3.5
BW does not support the connection of new source systems (also file source systems) outside the BW standard client. Only one "myself" source system can be created.
It is considered possible to connect a client other than the BW standard client to an external BW as a source system. Although you can do this using note 609167, this involves restrictions that are mentioned below in the "BW Release as of 3.5" section.
Proceed as follows if you want to upload data into your new client (also ODS update and file source systems). This is not valid if note 609167 has been implemented):
In your new client for all source systems, from which you wish to upload data into non-BW standard clients, create partner connections as an IDENTICAL copy (including names) of the partners in the BW standard client.  If you are setting up the new client for the first time, you can use the client copier (transaction SCCL).
Create the BW background user (generally, BWREMOTE) with the S_BI-WHM_RFC and S_BI-WX_RFC profiles. Make sure that the name is the same as the name in the BW standard client.
    BW releases as of 3.5
BW does not support the connection of new source systems (also file source systems) outside the BW standard client. Only one "myself" source system can be created.
The Administrator workbench can only be called in the BW standard client.
You cannot upload data into a client other than the BW standard client.
As of BW 3.5 with PI BASIS 2004.1 or higher, you can connect another source system besides the BW standard client as a separate source system to BW (extraction from another client within the system), provided the BW standard client and BW background user have been entered in the Myself destination. See note 538052.
    Authorizations/roles
Like users, authorizations are also client-specific. If you work in several clients, you must ensure that the necessary authorizations and roles exist in the other clients.
    Client copy
No client copy may be performed in the BW standard clients. This would destroy the versions of the number range intervals and thereby make the BW data inconsistent.

I have a MacBook 10.5.8 with Boot Camp. I can only operate the Windows side. When I move into MacOS it does not open.

Your phrasing is not clear. How do you reboot into Mac OS? /can you describe the process step by step?
Usually, you should do like this:
    - while in win, restart
    - immediately after chime, press option or alt key
    - wait for 2-3 seconds, you should see the boot options
    - select Mac OS partition
If you have performed all these steps, and, after choosing Mac OS partition, you cannot boot into Mac OS, then your system is corrupt and should be reinstalled.

    Hi,
Is yours a new system. Then take a look at this
You would need to create a new client as a copy of 000 as you cannot work in client 000. Refer to the Installation guide.
    Also refer to OSS Note:116811.

    jung,
You can have only one active client at a time in a BI system - this usually happens when a client copy is taken from a normal BI client - in this case the logical name has to be defined properly and you cannot work simultaneoiusl;y on multiple cients on the same database...
BASIS has to take a system copy if this is the scenario or set the current client as the default client..

  • How can I operate Reader X in "Kiosk" mode?

    What I need to do:
Open a single document via a command line reference and "lock" Reader from being able to go anywhere else. Initially opening the document is easy enough...just supply the complete pathname to the file on the command line.   I will supply all links that need to open PDF files via separate icons which reference each file's path.  Like I said...this is a "kiosk" type operation and there's only a very small handful of files that need to be served up.
    1) I have used the customization wizard to set everything that I can using that tool... this does not go far enough
    2) I have used javascript to get rid of various menu items that I don't want to appear.
    (I'm almost there now...)
    3) I've got it to the point where the document opens and *almost* all of the menu items I want gone are gone...not all. More on that later...
    4) As it stands right now, the user can close the document by clicking the small "x" in upper right corner...but that presents the Recent File list and worst of all...BROWSE!
I need to get rid of browse capability!  I truly need to lock Reader down to open the one document called on the command line
    Possibliities:
The "A" answer: If the user closes the open document, Reader itself closes
    B) Lock Reader so that it only sees the previous document in a Recent list with no Browse button
    C) Lock Reader so that it can ONLY operate in a given folder
I stated earlier that almost all of the menu items I want to get rid of are gone...I would *like* to get rid of the Comments menu and capability.  Customization wizard has a section that deals with that but apparently it does not do what I'm after because that setting does NOT get rid of the Comments item.  This is strictly a "nice to have" item...really need to find a solution to the other.

Adobe Reader doesn't have a 'kiosk mode', so the only way to achieve it would be to write your own application and embed a Reader instance using the SDK interface.

  • How is it that fonts in the Mac system can be damaged?

How is it that fonts in the Mac system can be damaged?
It does not hapen in PC systems, ever!
How do we go about replacing the damaged fonts?
I treid to delete and reinstall but no sucess.
Also, Mac systems can only have active about 250 fonts.
PC systems can have up to 1,000 fonts and run very smoothly with any hitches.
    Any sloutions or recommendations?
Looks like I made a wrong choice.
I thought that Mac systems was very stable when it comes to graphic related applications, but it seems that I was WRONG.
A simple font base also Mac system cannot handle as well as a PC based system.
Sorry if I have offended other Mac users.
But, I would really like to continue using my Macbook Pro.
    Cheers and Merry Christmas, everyone!!!
    Kelvin LEEmy

How is it that fonts in the Mac system can be damaged?
As ds store noted. Any file on any part of the drive can be damaged at any time. This is true of any OS, not just the Mac.
It does not happen in PC systems, ever!
Why in the world would you think that's true? I used DOS/Windows for years. Fonts on PCs get damaged too, for pretty much the same reasons.
How do we go about replacing the damaged fonts?
You can replace just the fonts from your Snow Leopard installation disk. See the bottom of my article, Font Management in OS X for instructions.
I tried to delete and reinstall but no success.
Not enough info. Reinstalled from where?
Also, Mac systems can only have active about 250 fonts.
I don't know where you read or heard that, but it's 100% wrong.
PC systems can have up to 1,000 fonts and run very smoothly with any hitches.
And I've had as many as 8500 active (for testing, I would never do it day to day). Do I win?
    Any solutions or recommendations?
The most likely reason, assuming you replaced the fonts with known good copies is Font Book. Put bluntly, it's one of the worst font managers available. It's database is easily corrupted. When that happens, fonts that are marked as active in its interface won't appear in some, or all apps. You'll find you can't activate or deactivate fonts. Use these steps to clean Font Book up so it works.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding the Shift key until you see a progress bar towards the bottom of the screen. You can let go of the Shift key at that point.
OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally. This will clear Font Book's database and the cache files of the user account you logged into in Safe Mode.
After the Mac finishes booting back to the desktop from Safe Mode, do the following to clear the rest of the font cache files.
Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.
Looks like I made a wrong choice.
As opposed to what? Dealing with viruses each and every day?
I thought that Mac systems was very stable when it comes to graphic related applications, but it seems that I was WRONG.
Boy, you sure know how to make people want to help you.
A simple font base also Mac system cannot handle as well as a PC based system.
Also flat out wrong. Fonts are simple. You add them and use them. Turn them off when you don't want them active. Learning and understanding a new OS is usually a good idea before you start trashing it.
If problems return soon after resetting Font Book with the notes above, then you most likely installed junk fonts. Free fonts are worth what you paid for them and are the number one source of such problems on both Macs and PCs.
Secondly, get rid of Font Book. If you use and manage fonts every day, get a professional manager. Suitcase Fusion 4 and FontExplorerX Pro are your best choices.
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.
