"Your Set-Top Box details could not be retrieved" on my TV service page

I just had TV service added yesterday. The DVR works. But when I go to My Services page on Verizon web site (http://www22.verizon.com/ForYourHome/MyAccount/Protected/Services/MyServices.aspx) it shows the box but not activated. After some help from live chat, I got it activated and can access DVR via web.
But after a few hours, the same page now says "Your Set-Top Box details could not be retrieved" and clicking at any of the links like "Record A Show" brings me to the On Demand/FlexView page (https://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/members/OnDemandHome.aspx) with no mention of DVR at all.
My FIOS was installed way back and is CAT5 on WAN. The new TV install put in a new Actiontec rev. F and kept the CAT5 WAN since the ONT doesn't have COAX WAN. Everything works inside the home. Just the web access is not working.
Any pointer where I should look?

Mine says that too, but I don't seem to have any problems accessing or programming my DVRs from the Web site.
I also have a CAT5 Ethernet run to the ONT, but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

  • Constant Your Set Top Box Has No Data Connectivity/Poor DVR Performance

For the past few months I have been dealing with very poor performance out of my multi room DVR. Often in the middle of watching shows, the DVR will just disconnect and look for the hub which means rebooting the cable box and a constant stream of, “your set top box has no data connectivity” messages. This has elevated to beyond a nuisance. I have been in contact with Verizon Fios' live chat multiple times however they fail to solve the problem. The picture on the DVR is extremely choppy as it is having difficulty streaming and then it just drops and once again searches for the hub.
I have also recently upgraded to the 75/35 internet and the router has been cutting out and resetting at least twice an hour ever since. I love Verizon Fios and have recommended it to many of my friends who have also signed up. I am just looking for a solution to my DVR and internet woes.

You need to have a tech come to your house. You could have bad light at the ONT., bad router, bad ONT or bad coax somewhere.

  • Want to use FiOS TV via CableCARD - CSR insists I must lease at least one set-top box

Started looking into subscribing to Verizon using a CableCARD-based tuner, since I don't actually own a TV.
I did some research at verizon.com and ran across this page (important parts in bold):
    CableCARDS
A CableCARD is a device that provides access to certain encrypted High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) digital programs without the need for a Set-Top Box.
    CableCARD Features and Services
What digital programs can I watch with my CableCARD?
You can view all FiOS TV Standard Definition and High Definition digital channels to which you subscribe. You can also order certain Pay-Per-View events by calling 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966). Without a Set-Top Box, you do not have access to On Demand programming, the FiOS TV Interactive Media Guide, or other advanced features of the FiOS TV service.
So far, so good. I logged into my account, selected a package, and started the checkout process - and then encountered an odd question: "How many set-top boxes do you need?", where the options were a drop-down list starting with 1 and scaling up. There's an extra $12/month charge (plus taxes, of course) for just one box, and more for other boxes. No way to skip that step.
So apparently, according to Verizon's service rep... I need to pay $12/mo+tax for a set-top box that I don't need, and that will sit on a shelf while I watch Verizon TV through my fully-supported CableCARD adapter.

You don't need an STB or DVR, but here's the easiest thing to do - and I just did it, so I know it works.
Get the STB or DVR along with the Cable Cards. Get everything activated and working - including the cable cards - then return your STB or DVR, either to a FiOS store or via UPS. Voila, you're done and using only Cable Cards. I only have two Cable Cards on my account. Good luck.
    INTERESTING.
I was considering doing this too. I originally had just a cablecard, then ordered a STB for another room. We don't use it so I wanted to return it. I can't!
    Brb going to UPS store.

  • Streaming to a set top box

    Greetings,
I am very new to media server, and I would like to be able to stream a live video feed to set top boxes on a local IP network.  Is this something that is easily done with Media Server, and if so, which set top boxes are recommended?
    Thanks,
    David

I currently have DSL hooked up to my Airport Extreme for wireless.
Is your AIrPort Extreme directly connected to your DSL modem, is the modem strictly a modem (as opposed to a combination modem and router) and is your AirPort Extreme your only network equipment other than the modem?
I am trying to hook up a set top TV box to watch streaming IPTV via the LAN connection. Wireless internet is still fine, but no life at all going to the set top TV box. Does this not work, or am I doing something wrong?
That should work. Launch AirPort Utility, double-click on the AirPort Extreme on the left to enter "manual setup" mode, then under the AirPort panel, Wireless tab, report whether the "Wireless Mode" is set to "Create a wireless network". Then select the Advanced panel and the Statistics tab, click on the "Logs and Statistics" button, and select the "DHCP Clients" tab. Do you see your set top box in the list?
Your set top box should have some sort of diagnostic screen for its network connection. Does that show you anything?

  • Getting Error message ""This set top box does not match the account settings"

Just ordered a new wireless receiver for the bedroom. Installed it and now getting the following error "This set top box does not match the account settings". Service was suppose to be enabled on Monday the 4th, but I recieved the hardware early and turned it on. I've since rebooted and unplugged and tried everything to no avail. Any thoughts on how I might get this to work? Regards,  Rick

your wireless receiver is misconfigured (dirty) and need to be scrubbed clean.
A tech (service visit) or tier 2 rep (phone or chat) can do this. The receiver needs to be unplugged, on the bottom of receiver is a GUI (long number) that will be needed to identify receiver, when instructed plug just the receiver in that gave number for, when that one is connected.
Your choice 4 hour appointment window, or time on phone , or chat.
If these have not been activated yet.... When screen comes up, depress OK on receiver, depress button on WAP, when the screen at receiver says try again, Depress OK button (remote or on stb) another screen for update, depress OK give about 10 minutes to load, reboot when checking depress menu to verify recordings, if no recordings menu not finished booting.
Set aspect ratio MENU, OPTIONS, etc.
should take about 20 minutes per receiver.

  • XI3 set top box will not rewind or pause tv in second room

Turned my tv on after work and same problem. Unplugging the card is the same as unplugging the box and only is a temporary fix.

I have the X1 triple play system and the second set top box i have, an XI3 box, will not rewind or pause live tv. The main X1 DVR box works relatively ok, besides randomly deciding the left or right button should be the 2 or 5 button, but the second set top box does not. The XI3 box i have in my room is supposed to allow rewind and pause functionality. It takes away one of the lines from the X1 box so instead of having 4 lines to record on the main tv and live tv in the second room, it gives you 3 lines to record on the main tv and live tv with pause and rewind functionality on the secont box. This worked perfectly until about a week ago. Ever since then, the rewind and pause functions do not work. The only way to get them to work is to unplug the XI3 box (since it does not have a power button) and plug it back in. They will work for about an hour until they stop working and i am told again by an onscreen prompt that rewind or pause are not available on this box. I ask here if there is any resolution to this problem because calling customer service is a 40 minute waste of time and the online chat is basically the same. No one can resolve this and 90% of the time i am told that there is no set top box for the X1 system that allows rewind or pause, which is obviously not true. It takes me 40 minutes on the phone of constantly being told i am wrong and to please hold for just another minute as the employee waits for a supervisor or another employee to help them. Who ever Mario is, i have heard your name on three calls so far as the employee is begging you for help. Each time i have been told by the rep that i need to bring my box into a local xfinity store to have it swapped out. I was also told i couldnt activate any services until i returned my old boxes as the rep didnt know how to handle the situation. Each time i went to the store i was told by the Xfinity rep that the employee i spoke with did not know what they were talking about and flat out lied to be just to get me off the phone. So wonderful customer service on Xfinitys half. Basically straight inline with what everyone on the internet and consumer reports say. The chat was no better. In between obvious copy and paste comment, or the need to tell me about additional services and faqs between every comment, they were not ableto resolve my issue. I just want to get the service i am paying for. Everything about this X1 service has been a nightmare since i got it. Nothing works as it should and unplugging my box every hour is not an answer to why i cant rewind my tv.

  • Disc playback stuttering/skipping on some set top boxes; not others

I have built a dvd in DVD Studio Pro 3, and it plays fine on my computer, small portable dvd player and my region free dvd player, but it stutters a lot on my older set top box I purchased back in the year 2000. I am using the default compression settings of 1 pass VBR 4 low 7 high, and encoded all audio and video previous to import using quicktime and apack. I am using Maxell ink jet printable DVDs that are version 2.0/8X-SPEED DVD-R Revision 3 and can be written 1X to 8X speed. The dvd consists mainly of motion menus that run from 30 seconds to 44 seconds (there are 82), with several short tracks, the longest of which is 3 minutes. This is a dvd menu design portfolio, so the menu complexity was the goal. Total disc size is 2.5 gb.
Compressor won't install on my system so I had to compress each piece of video individually in quicktime...recompression would take 100 hours that I just don't have, and since I'm not sure the bit rate is the culprit (since the dvd plays fine in so many players) I am very reluctant to recompress all the video without knowing definitively that is my problem. I am considering trying some basic apple brand dvds, but don't know if the dvd media could be the problem. I saw on another post that Maxell is considered a reliable brand. I was wondering about dvd speed and compatibility, since the first dvds I bought were too new/too fast to play in any of the set top boxes, and only played on the brand new portable dvd player and in the computer. Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.

I just realized that a few of the specs I posted are mistaken -- I was using the default settings in Apack to convert my aifs to ac3 and it is 448 kbps. They are only 2 channel ac3 files (no surround sound). You mentioned 192 kbps. I can't find any reference to acceptable ac3 settings in the manual. Is 448 too high?
I also realized my mp2s are at the bit rate of 7.5, 5.5 rather than 7.0, 4.0 as I posted earlier.
Do you think either audio compression or video compression could be the source of my problem? Does it make sense for higher compression to work fine on newer players and not on older ones?

    >> "NSDArray...[numbers/letters]".
That's an error from the OS leaking into Photoshop.  It is due to a bug in MacOS 10.10 that occurs in the open and save dialogs (which are controlled by the OS). Apple is aware of this and working on solutions.
Some people have had luck changing the view in the open/save dialogs to grid view or list view.

Check the box's documentation to find out what drive formats it's capable of reading. Very few, if any, non-Apple devices natively support drives formatted as Mac OS Extended.

  • X1 digital set top box not working

Main X1 set top box works fine. Comcast messed up the order and listed the seconf box as a Phone. Been trying since last wednesday to get it straightened out and when I thought I did, only got 4 HD channels on what was told was a HD set top box. Now the box says it is not activated.  6 hrs later, still no resolution and no response. cannot get through on the 1-800 number during this time. For as much as Comcast charges, this is very poor customer service. Hoping someone has an answer.

  • Replacement set top boxes

Hi,I transferred to Telstra a couple of years ago and have an old set top box and a foxtel IQ box. The old box is in the spare room and began failing about a year ago, but as I could find no easy way of getting a replacement I didn't bother. It has now failed completely (composite out no longer works and it now says I am not subscribed to any channels). The second IQ box is my main box, last night it rebooted, and when it came back on could no longer find a signal. Today it will not even power up.How can I go about getting replacement boxes, in the old Foxtel days I logged a call with Foxtel and an new box shipped straight away. Can't seem to find a Foxtel support number on the Telstra site anywhere and Foxtel web site says I no longer have an account with them. Thanks for the help

Hi GreyDog, mate you're not having a good run with your Dog Boxes, oops Foxtel boxes are you....  If you go to the following link and click the foxtel button you'll find contact details to speak withe Telstra Foxtel team there: https://www.telstra.com.au/contact-us/faults-technical-support

  • How to connect iMAC thunderbolt port to a cable TV set top box?

I am moving to a house that will have combination TV-phone-Internet services delivered via cable (Optimum is the provider).  I understand that with my new iMac which has a "thunderbolt" port that I can use the iMac as a tv monitor and DVR (recorder) and watch live TV or recorded TV.  I think it is possible to record  TV shows either on the iMac's hard drive or the Optimum DVR.  Beyond that, I get confused because I do not understand the details of RCA cables, coaxial cables, HDMI connectors, etc.  Apple does not provide support for set top boxes (I called Apple), and Optimum does not provide support for Macs (I called them too). Since Apple is the party advertising the capability of watching TV on a Mac, I would think the burden is more on them to explain how that works, and maybe they have done so on their web sites, but I cannot find it so far.  I can understand that the cable company does not want to tell people how to bypass the need for their DVR equipment.  Before I go out and hire a consultant for a few hundred dollars to explain it, I was hoping I might find online some tips on how to set up a system at home.  No luck so far.
Am I correct in assuming that wireless connections are NOT an option because a TV signal has too much bandwidth to work wirelessly?  (I do have a wireless router already.)
If so and if I am using wires to connect the iMac, am I correct to think I want to use the thunderbolt port for best results?
If so, what next?  What exactly is the adapter or cable I need and how do I plug it into the set top box?  There are several people in the household, and so I would want the flat screen TV monitor to work normally at times rather than only use the iMac.  Does that require several set top boxes?   I would think that this would be an issue for many people, and it seems to me that this forum would be an ideal place to get help.  So far the people I have spoken with say "well it depends on what you want to do and what your equipment is and for that you have to go ask ___________[someone else]"

I do not understand what Apple TV is.  I have TV already.  When I look up "Apple TV" on the Apple website I see that is has been redesigned to be small in size but big in entertainment.  Since I did not know what it was BEFORE it was redesigned, knowing that is has been redesigned does not help me understand it.  Now it is smaller?  So it was too big before?  "Watch Netflix titles instantly."  But I can do that with my mac and an internet connection now.  So what is Apple TV that makes it a better or different way to watch Netflix movies?  "Best of all, Apple TV is just $99"  Sorry, but how is that the Best of All part?  My Optimum Cable is charging me $30 a month for TV.  But Apple TV's best part is it costs $99?  Is that per month too?  I also see that everything streams wirelessly to Apple TV, and all I need it so connect apple tv to my widescreen TV using an HDMI cable sold separately.  Now I am really confused.  I plug in a cable to get wireless streaming?  If it is wireless, why does it need a cable?  If there is a cable involved, how is it wireless?  Color me clueless.  I cannot find a straight forward description of what Apple TV is.  And so I don't get how that is the answer to my question.  Sorry for being so simple-minded.  Thanks for the suggestion and I will go research further to learn what is an Apple TV.

  • How to connect satellite set-top box to Qosmio G50 using RCA video-in cable

I want to connect my satellite set-top box to my Qosmio G50 laptop using the RCA video-in cable I received with the computer. (yellow, red, white RCAs and a Jack)
Could you help me where should I plug this cable as I have not found any instructions in the users manual. (The user's manual list this cable on page 21, so it can be used for something somehow for sure!)
(The set-top box does not have coaxial output, and I do not want to include another machine (eg. an old VCR) just to use coaxial connection.)
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Sandor.

  • I have an old tv.  Can I play apple tv through my set top box?

The guy at the apple store told me I could play apple tv via my set top box as long as the box has a HDMI slot.   It is not working and I am wondering if the slot is input only?   Really out of my depth here!

It would need HDMI or the three component jacks to input to.
DirectTV box has HDMI out but not in.
Best is to see if your TV has the component video jacks or multiple HDMI and switch via your TV remote.
For example my Bravia has 2 sets of component input and 3 HDMI inputs.
Hopefully, you have a newer TV.

  • Returned HD SET TOP BOX but still being charged for it!!!!

I canceled my FIOS TV service on June 20th, and received the return kit on July 1st. I dropped off the package at my local post office on July 5th, as it was instructed on the return kit.  I boxed the cable box, placed the provided shipping label, and dropped at the local post office.
A month later, I logged online to pay my monthly bill, I see that there is charged of $350.00 for unreturned set top box. So, I traced the package with the tracking number that I got from the post office.I found out that the package is still sitting at the post office that I went,  even though It was a month later. I called verizon customer service center. I told the customer service representative that I returned the box. He says that I still have to pay for $350.00 because the package didn't arrive at the Verizon within 30 days of service stopped. BUT, I dropped off the package before the 30 days. I don't know what happened  to the package at the post office, I never doubted that it would sit there. THAT'S NOT MY FAULT!!!!  I told him that there must been mistakes at the post office. He says that I should've brought it to the local verizon center. BUT, THAT'S NOT WHAT THE RETURN KIT SAYS!!! I FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS AS VERIZON ASKED ME TO!!  DROP OFF AT ANY LOCAL POST OFFICE!!!!!! He said he will request an investigation, and I will be notified. Now, that's 2 weeks ago...
I tried online chatting and made some other calls but,  gets the same conclusion " someone will call you back"  which never happened....
Meanwhile, I traced the package few times more, and it started moving after I made the phone call to verizon customer service center. Last time I traced it, it was in Greensboro, NC.  So, I thought it will be all ok, once the investigator reaches me.
Guess what? Today, a package was delivered to my house... the cable box that I returned...
I called in again to explain everything again and let them know the new news, but still gives me the same answer.. "wait until notified."
so now, I don't know if I should keep this box until notified,  I'm afraid if I  will get charged another amount.
I'm so tire of waiting and the empty promises by Verizon.  And I really don't know what to do!!
Anyone from Verizon willing to step-up and resolve this?
I have the copy of receipt from post office, and tracking details..
