YouTube app missing in iPad 1 - iOS5 upgrade

Hi, I am getting a strange issue which I think is really weird. I found the YouTube app usually shipped with iOS is missing after iOS5 upgrade in my iPad 1. Is there anyway I can get the application back? Can I restore from iPad backups taken earlier?
If nothing is possible, Is there any app which I can use any other alternative app for this purpose?

YouTube will no longer come standard on the iPhone and iPad, and the Internet is jumping to conclusions as usual.
The next version of Apple's mobile OS -- iOS 6 -- will be missing the familiar YouTube app from its home screen. Instead, users will have to download a new YouTube app from the App Store. Apple claims it's simply because its five-year deal with Google has expired, while Google isn't even talking about the circumstances of YouTube's departure from Apple's devices.
Apple and Google don't exactly like each other, and Apple has been systematically purging Google's influence from its flagship OS. Earlier this year, Apple announced that iOS 6 willremove Google Maps in favor of Apple Maps.
That's why everyone seems to be concluding that YouTube's disappearance from iOS is all Apple's fault. It fits the pattern, after all.
And people are understandably upset:

  • You Tube App Missing on iPad 2 After Upgrade to iOS 5

I have an iPad 2 that I purchased from a US Apple store in May 2011.  After upgrading to iOS 5 the You Tube app is missing.  How can I reinstall it?

That is one of the standard apps that is not deletable.  So it is probably there somewhere.
Check setting, general, restrictions, and make sure you didnt turn that on by accident.
Then goto the searchlight screen, and type in you tube, and if the app is on the pad, it will find it.
If restrictions are not on, and if searchlight does not find the app, do a full reboot,
If still no joy, do a restore from backup.
    But check restrictions first.

  • Why is the YouTube app missing when I updated my software?

I updated my iPad and the youtube app on my iPad is missing I really like YouTube and in not happy it's gone.
Is there a reason apple took it away or is something wrong with my iPad

The YouTube app is not included in iOS 6 as the licensing agreement with google was ending. You will either need to try one of the YouTube apps from the store (there is an iPhone optimised app from google, and other people have said that they are working on an iPad version and there is Jasmine), or try accessing the mobile version via Safari : http://m.youtube.com (you can create a home screen shortcut for the site)

iPhone 3G, can't download facebook app it's asking for ios5 upgrade, what should I do?

I've got it working on mine by downloading the old facebook app version 4.0.1 from the following link. In iTunes, go to file menu, select add file to library and add the downloaded ipa file and facebook will appear in the apps screen. next sync will then put facebook on your iphone 3G.

  • Why is the youtube app missing from iOS 6

I recently upgraded to iOS 6 on my iPad & iPhone 4S. I noticed that the YouTube app is missing. Pls advise on why this is happening?

The youTube App is no longer included as a built-in App in iOS 6. It will probably be released as an App Store App in the near future. There is an iPhone YouTube App available now. You can also use Safari to access youTube http://m.youtube.com/

  • Why does the YouTube app on the iPad Air 2 crash after posting a comment?

I got a brand new iPad Air 2 about 2 weeks ago, and ever since I started using the YouTube app, I've had a few issues. Every time that I post a comment or reply to a comment, the app crashes. This can be very annoying, especially when it happens in the middle of watching a video. When I re-open the app, I have to go back, find the video I was watching, and find the exact time that I was at before the app crashed. I need to do this every time, and this prevents me from being able to reply to comments or post anything at all. I had the YouTube app on my old iPad 2 which I had for about 4 years before upgrading to the iPad Air 2, and I never had any problems such as this one. I am not sure whether there is something wrong with my iPad, or maybe it could just be a bug within the app, which in that case, the developers would need to fix. Please let me know what you think of this issue, thanks.

Delete youtube app from iPad and then download it again. Or try clearing out youtube like press home button twice and clear the Q out.

  • YouTube app missing in my ipad2

I Am from India and I recently purchased iPad 2 3G from China. Software version is 5.0.1.
My ipad2 is awesome, but only thing is the native app " YouTube" is missing.
Is there any work around to install the native YouTube app?

Thanks Dave, that actually makes a lot of sense.
Ultimately, this isn't a huge deal to me as I actually have been using Safari to browse Youtube up til now as Rich suggested.  I've even heard in some forums that browsing Youtube on Safari is a better experience as you're able to watch videos in HD.
I guess in a way I feel cheated because I'm missing one (and possibly more?) of the system apps that is supposed to come standard with an ipad 2.  But in the end I can't complain.
Thanks for the responses guys.  It cleared things up a lot

  • Why can I no longer acess the Youtube app on the home page since upgrading to iOS6? It's replaced with a Clock App.

The application Youtube is gone from the home page and is no longer listed in the Settings.  When I use Safari to access Youtube most of the videos will not play and state "Not authorized by subscriber" or another such statement.  All of these same videos can be acessed by my PC so this is very frustrating.  Any suggestions or help will be appreciated!  Thanks.

The YouTube app is not included in iOS 6 (I think because the licensing agreement with google ended). You will either need to try one of the YouTube apps from the store (there is an iPhone optimised app from google, and other people have said that they are working on an iPad version), or (if this isn't the version that you have tried) try accessing the mobile version via Safari : http://m.youtube.com (you can create a home screen shortcut for the site)

But worst thing happen is I forgot my password in my email.. god! Can anyone help me pls of what I'm going to do? To fix this problem? Thank you!

You do NOT need to restore your iPad.
I believe that the problem is that there is a disconnect with your iTunes account and your iPad. What you are experiencing is a somewhat common issue after you sync your iPad, update your device - it could be a number of reasons that are causing it. the recommended fix is to download another app in order to "reconnect" your ID and iTunes account to the iPad.
You can read more about it here. You will need a WiFi internet connection in order to fix it - or you have to be able to sync with your own iTunes library.
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
But this is what it says in the article.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install a free (or paid) app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You could also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

  • I can't access the YouTube app on my iPad or iPod

I get the message that " warning , flash player out of date . Update to continue. "Help !!

This is highly suspicious, as there is no Flash Player for iOS. That seems like a message from a scam site, but it shouldn't be a scam if you're using the official YouTube app.
First, make sure that you have the official YouTube app, and not an imitator. If you do, try deleting the app, then re-download it.
If that doesn't help, that suggests that your network, or the DNS server your iPad is using, has been compromised. Can you try other iOS devices on the same network, to see if they exhibit the same problem? (Comparing to a laptop accessing the YouTube site isn't meaningful, because I don't know if the YouTube app accesses the same site or uses a special site designed specifically for that app.) Also, check to see if your iPad behaves the same way on another unrelated network, such as a free wifi network at a public library, coffee house or whatnot.

  • HT201272 Pre-loaded YouTube app missing

the youtube app that came preloaded on my ipad 2.0 is gone -- how do I re-load it?  I can't seem to find it in the app store.

The YouTube app is not included in iOS 6 and that particular app is not in the store. You will either need to try one of the YouTube apps from the store (there is an iPhone optimised app from google, and other people have said that they are working on an iPad version), or try accessing the mobile version via Safari : http://m.youtube.com (you can create a home screen shortcut for the site)

  • Youtube app on new ipad

You need to leave the YouTube app first. Once you're on your home screen, double tap the home button. The multitasking menu will come up. press down on an app for two seconds. Then hit the red - to kill the app. Your YouTube will work normally now.

  • Apps won't work after iOS5 upgrade

After iOS5 upgrade, I cant start any apps but Apples own on my iPhone 4. What should I do?

Make sure you're signed into iTunes with your original Apple ID (the one that you used to purchase the apps)
Then Sync (and make sure 'Sync Apps' is checked)
    Cheers!

  • Purchased an upgraded app on one ipad and the upgrade is not on my other ipads

I purchased the extended levels of an app on one ipad, but it does not show on my other two ipads.  I shouldn't need to buy them for each Ipad, right?  Automatic syncing via ICloud is turned on for all the ipads.

If you are using the same iTunes account on all your devices, then what you will find is when you go to purchase the in-app extension, it'll say you've already purchased this item, and not charge you.
That's how it's worked for me.
