YouTube App - safety mode?

The pre-installed YouTube displays videos of any rating and the offensive language present in many comments on videos. Using YouTube in a browser it is possible to turn on and lock-on "Safety Mode" to ensure my children don't see inappropriate content. I'd like to do the same in the YouTube app on my son's iPod Touch and on my iPhone.
Is this possible?

You can just restrict the app as a whole under restrictions.

I noticed the new YouTube update for Apple TV has Safety Mode, however it looks like you can turn it on or off only. Is there a way to lock it?

The setting you choose, either on or off, is remembered by the YouTube app so it will remain as you set it.
If you are asking is there a way to prevent someone else from changing it once it is set then the answer is no, there appears no way to lock it.

Safety mode on YouTube is enabled and no matter what I do I can't get it to turn off, only on this browser. Please explain to me how to fix this.

None of the other threads on this topic were able to fix my issue. This wasn't happening until a few days ago when it notified me that I couldn't view a video because safety mode was apparently enabled, so I scrolled down and clicked 'off' (about 50 times) and nothing changed. I never turned it on in the first place, and using YouTube is a part of my job. It works fine in Safari. Any help is appreciated.

You may have run into one of YouTube's "enhancements" since it's now owned by Google. It's offered by Firefox if you want it, like for your (possibly) young kids, but if you have it "off", you may have to have a Google account.
I resent it too, don't have nor want a Google account. They want to know all about you so if you buy a garbage can they can offer you another garbage can.

Safari won't let me disable safety mode for Youtube

I have tried a number of ways to do this and consistently failing. Youtube is locked into safety mode and I cannot disable it. My Google account is not in safety or filtering mode. Youtube works fine when I log in on Firefox. But when in Safari, and I scroll to the bottom of the Youtube page and click disable safety mode, the screen does not return to Youtube it goes nowhere, and when I get back on, safety mode is STILL ACTIVATED. This only happens when I'm using Safari. Can anyone help? I'm on a pretty old Safari I must admit - 5.1.10 - but I never used to have this issue until fairly recently. I don't know how it happened!?

Tried removing cookies?
Safari > Preferences > Privacy
Press the "Details" button.
Press "Remove All" button.

Safety Mode - unable to view youtube videos

Hello everyone
We are having an issue with being unable to view youtube videos.
The message comes up saying that we can not view the video because the computer is in the safety mode.
I have a K9 filter on the laptop and I am pretty sure that what I am trying to view is not at all risky so this is a bit of a pain and inconvenience. How do we exit the safety mode please? And what could be the reason that the computer is in the safety mode. Thank you.
As well as that, if I wanted to take my laptop to be looked at and to have a bit of a spring clean where would I take it? We have had it for three years now.

Do you use original OS version that you got with your machine or some own OS installation?

Youtube Safety Mode will turn on if Windows 7 Parental Controls are enabled.

If I disable parental controls, safety mode safety mode will turn itself off. But if parental controls are re-enabled, safety mode will turn itself on. If I then try to turn it off manually, it says that it's been disabled, but it still stays on.
The only parental control that's enabled is the time limits. There are no other restrictions enabled. There is no other filtering software installed. It is doing this on three separate machines.
This is a problem specific to Firefox. Chrome and Internet Explorer do not exhibit this behavior. For the moment, they are using Chrome, as I do not wish to turn off parental controls.
This is recent behavior, within the last week or so. Prior to this, it didn't have any problems at all. I don't have an exact date when it started, but it sounds like it was one of the last few upgrades.
Is there a configuration setting to tell Firefox to not look at parental controls?

How do I search for playlists with the new Youtube App?

I just got home to find the new Youtube app on my Apple TV. It seems great, but searches no longer find playlists, only individual videos. As most of my Youtube viewing on Apple TV is Let's Play playlists, without the ability to search for playlists, the app is nearly useless for me.
Am I just overlooking something or did they really remove the ability to search for playlists?

Open the Camera app. Swipe the screen up or down to change the mode.

Youtube app videos always start in full screen

Is there a way to make the videos in the Youtube app start in normal mode, not in full screen?

Even when the app is in portrait mode, the video starts in full screen mode. I use the ipad in landscape mode and when I start a video I want the video to start with the related content to the right, not in full screen mode.

YouTube app crashing on BDP S5200

Hello, as of recent the YOUTUBE APP on my BDP-S5200 is now freezing and then will crash the BDP box. I usually can watch 1,2,3 videos but at some point when I try to play the next video it will freeze and crash. I’ve cleared cookies logged out of app, logged back in the app, unplugged reset the box and still will crash. Has youtube changed its app and is Sony going to continue supporting the youtube app on its BDP? I have been using this a almost daily and well be very disappointed if I can’t use it any more. Now what? thnx EDIT.... June 24 2015 So I think I have found the point at which the app freezes and crashes, if it even matters saying so. When I watch a video from "my subscriptions" feed, it will play fine. When the video ends, it will go into the countdown mode for 10 seconds asking me to play the next video or pick another one. If I cancel and return to the main subscriptions feed and play the video of my choice, this is when it will Freeze and Crash the box. Any ideas why and if there will, or can, be fixed? Or am I s.o.l. ??

Hi I live in Spain and I'm having exactly the problem you have all described and I have had my box for about a month. The freezing/rebooting problem just appeared this week. I have Apple TV run through the same network and YouTube works fine through it. So the problem appears to be the Sony Bdp 5200.
My three year old son is getting ******ed off but he will get over it. Kids do. Not sure I will
I'm not gonna toss it in the bin just yet. Sony are genuinely reliable. If they move fast to fix this then I'll just put it down to 'one of those things.'

On my iPhone 5 the YouTube app won't always play videos in hd

Whenever I go into my google YouTube application and I try to play back a video that I know is capable of being viewed in hd,my app won't always play it in that quality. I just wanna know if its just the app or something else. I normally am on wifi, my battery level is good, and I've looked for any settings but found nothing.

- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them. Thus it appears that yor sone purchased the app.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

Try this first.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
And then try this.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
And ... Are you using the mobile YouTube website?

Firefox randomly started crashing when I try to open it. It won't open in safety mode. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling it.
