YouTube colors

I was trying out the YouTube app in my brand-spanking-new 16GB iPod Touch last night and all of the sudden, videos started playing with odd colors. Not really sure how to explain it - almost like it was playing with a 16 color palette. There were also some strange vertical lines through the video that shouldn't have been there.
So I quit the YouTube app and played with Safari for a bit, looking at movie previews on the Apple website that played through QuickTime. These all played fine. Except one of them crashed Safari.
Then I went back to YouTube and the videos were still screwy. Same behavior as before. So I started looking at some photos. No problems there. Then I went back to YouTube again and everything worked fine - back to normal.
Anyone else with YouTube videos displaying with incorrect colors?

I was experiencing this issue with Software 1.1.2 (3B48b).
I experienced it with any video content: downloaded videos from itunes, movies, and videos posted from youtube.so it cant be related to any of the source material i was watching.
i'm convinced it has to be a software issue if i was able to "reset" in the main menu and this fixed the problem. it cant be hardware related.
my intital thoughts when i experineced the issue was that this was a hardware issue, but I guess not.
I just opened it today.

  • Distorted video on youtube & colored pixels/ squares appearing

My problem is when viewing videos on Youtube using safari or firefox I keep getting small colored squares moving across the video whilst its playing and also sometimes the video becomes distorted in places. This happend a few weeks back and then stopped then this week the same thing began happening. I don't think it's anything to do with youtube as I asked around and no-one else had the problem. I tested watching video on other sites and the same thing happend with the colored squares moving within the video frame.
Also in recent days I was using flickr and on some photos I viewed there was a section of the photo with a large colored block covering it. I could view the image, but there was a section covered in yellow or green. I refreshed the photo and it was gone. There were also thin strips of distorted image on some photos like the pixels were missing. It seems to be a problem with images and video. I hope my explaination was fairly clear. I might include a photo if not.
I have searched the discussion boards and nothing comes up. I also watched a DVD yesterday and view quicktime videos and images on my computer and nothing happend with them, its seems its just when viewing images/ video online with safari that it happens.
    Any clues?
    Thanks in advance.

Further to my earlier post I have done some more digging and noticed that xlr8yourmac.com also had a couple of reports on this.

Today I got the same pink lines but that was after my Mac Pro had been on half the day. I definitely believe that it is a heat issue with the Radeon X1900 XT card. I managed to take several screen grabs of the pink/green artifacts, so that is definitive proof that it is not a monitor or monitor cable issue.
I did clean what dust there was from the X1900 XT cooling fan yesterday, so even dust free I still got a problem. When the artifacts appeared I wasn't actually doing anything very strenuous on my Mac other than run DEVONagent, which may have increased the CPU load, but not the load on the graphics card.
There is mention of it possibly being related to the 10.4.9 upgrade, but I did not see the problem until I upgraded to 10.4.10.
I have now reinstalled Mac OS X and upgraded to 10.4.8 to see whether the problem resurfaces in the next few days. If it does, then I'll be onto Apple for a new card as my Mac Pro is only 4 months old.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
As this may be a hardware problem, make a backup of your files onto an external drive with Time Machine (if you have important files) and take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller, or contact with Apple > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 You will get your Mac replaced or repaired for free.

  • Whenever I visit sites that require Adobe Flash Player such as youtube, the colors are all off.

On sites like NicoNicoDouga and Youtube, the colors for things are completely off.

You did not supply much information with your question:
#In Add-ons > Plugins, do you see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''"? If not, Flash is not installed for Firefox; see below
#You can test Flash on this Adobe page: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash; an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only and a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox. On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
#'''Using Firefox''', go to the following direct download link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.

  • Color correcting for youtube vs DVD

Does it make since that one would need to color correct a video differently for youtube vs. a DVD?  Shooting 1080p footage and posting to youtube.  I noticed I was having to up my mids and highlights quit a bit, (highlights even would go past the 100% at times) otherwise the posted footage would look dark and dingy.  The file would look the same on my AppleTV.  Had to put the same video to DVD and the footage looked more like what the scopes were telling me, the mids and highlights needed to be brought back down to what I would call normal, otherwise everything looked to hot.  Am I missing something?

I tried authoring via creating DVD files in FCPX and then burning with Toast, as well as creating a MOV file and authoring with iDVD from an older machine.  Results were the same.  The HDTV I viewed the disk from are the same TV that I view my videos via AppleTV before posting to youtube.  I did have a Broadcast Safe filter on the video.  Good thought though.
It does make since that a DVD played from a DVD player has more restrictions then a file played via a computer or AppleTV or Youtube, but I just found it kind of an head scratcher and not sure that is the problem.  I'll try playing the DVD on a different setup and see it the results are the same.  Could be my DVD player.
The results were so differnet, that I just had to ask to see if there was something I was majorly missing.
I'll do some more testing.  But thanks for your input.

  • Aliasing on Red and Blue color in ALL Flash Player video playback (including YouTube)

We have noticed that Flash Player does not smoothly decode the colors red or blue in video files (such as YouTube/Vimeo/similar), resulting in nasty aliasing on text/edges of solid colour. The problem occurs on both Mac and Windows platforms, tested with Flash Player 11.3 to 11.5 and demonstrated using the video below:
    https://vimeo.com/51914568
This video shows the issue clearly (you can switch between Vimeo's HTML5 Player to Flash Player. The red and green text is smoothly displayed in HTML5 Player or VLC/Quicktime Player). Note: watch in SD, not HD:
Only with Flash Player are edges aliased/jagged where they should be smooth. It's as if the resolution is dropped in half during the YUV decode.
I reported this today as  Bug 3351502
Here's hoping Adobe can get this sorted as it means the entire content of YouTube (for example) has poor quality video in Flash player.
You can also clearly see this on this cocacola advert:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2nBBMbjS8w&feature=relmfu
    CB

In general, the most expedient way to get your issue in front of an engineer (and to track progress on it) is to file a bug at http://bugbase.adobe.com/
I actually filed a bug on your behalf a while back. It was reviewed by an engineer from the video team, and closed as a duplicate of this bug:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3324604
It sounds like the problem is specific to H.264 video encoded with 10-bit color.  You could re-encode your videos with 8-bit color as a temporary workaround to avoid the problem.  If you're seeing the same problem with 8-bit color, please let me know.
The bug is currently open and assigned to an engineer from the video team.

  • Color changes from FCP to Quicktime to Youtube

I'm editing on FCP7 and I add color correction but then the color changes once I export to quicktime conversion. And then it changes again when I upload it to youtube.
I'm editing on Apple ProRes 422 1920 x 1080. I export with quicktime conversion to h264 same dimensions. Please help me out thanks!

The color will change. This is due to many factors, like the Canvas in FCP not being color accurate, so it won't match a QT file that you export if you do it with the same settings as the sequence. But it REALLY won't match if you compress it in any way, as compression means information is removed to make the file smaller.  Color information.
Here...look at my second to last post on this thread for a reason for all of this:

  • When I upload AE video to YouTube, the color is off (White turns to light Grey). How do I fix this?

The title explains my issue plain and simple.
Just a quick background, i do not know much about color spaces.  But I do know that different
forms of media require using different colors (RGB, CMYK, all that stuff).
I'm assuming this is the issue in my case - wrong color space or exporting formats.
    My question is:
What do I need to do to get the final video that I exported to look exactly the same (in terms of color) when
it's uploaded on YouTube? Strictly just the color, because I understand quality goes down when uploaded to YouTube.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

You haven't given us much information about what you rendered out of AE.
I always recommend rendering an intermediate codec out of After Effects (Cineform, DNxHD, Quicktime with the PhotoJPEG codec, etc.) and then taking that intermediate file into the Adobe Media Encoder to create your final piece. The Adobe Media Encoder even has YouTube presets.

  • YouTube play back choppy and not in color

Just got the Droid Maxx as the 'free' 2 year upgrade.  Only had it a few hours and all seems fine (I'm old and don't need much to make me smile) except YouTube video is choppy and pixels are all out of whack.  I search the internet for solutions (I'm old and don't have the patience for this), but I'm not finding any.
Who has the magic wand that will fix my problem?

    Thanks for the response!
At the time of the post, I had no video playback issues with any other apps.  The YouTube playback was having trouble in the first hour of powering on the phone before YouTube auto updated, and it had the same problem after it auto updated.
I couldn't figure out how to uninstall the entire YouTube app as the only option was to uninstall the update, which I did.  I also cleared the YouTube cache and data then reinstalled the YouTube update.  Now I'm a happy old guy, because the video plays as it should.  I'm not sure if it was reinstalling the update or clearing the cache and data, or possibly some other inadvertent action I took, but it works as it should.
    Thanks again for responding.

  • Youtube videos blurry with blocks of color

I am wondering if anybody else has been having the same problem when using Youtube on their iPod touch. When I go to view a video, the video will play unclearly. There would be blocks of red, green, blue around floating around.
Might this have to do with my WiFi connection?

Some YouTube videos are just plain bad.
Check on your computer to see if the same one is better on your PC/Mac.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your answer!
Sorry, I've probably put a bit unlucky me. Of course I put the buttons and buttons in
InDesign with functions and gimicks, but the output is a html swf file (e-brochure for web).
But I have tonight found a solution that works great!
    Thank you! LIL.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • font color="green" 1080p HD Is Coming to YouTube /font

    http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/2009/11/1080p-hd-comes-to-youtube.html
sooo, will iM09's upload2YT feature support that?
how do you export in 1080p anyhow?
    or, even import in 1080p .. ?
    .. next week, I'll take a 6-8 week vacation, I suppose ..

I had a video camera. Once.
It was 1975 and I spent weeks filming my two girls and then adding audio (from eight track tapes, no less). Splicing the film by "hand" (razor blade and tape) and creating my Cecil B. DeMille moment.
    45 minutes in duration.
My two girls fell asleep within minutes and my father in law excused himself to use the bathroom. He never returned.
Wife said it was "cute" and made her mascara run. Mother in law said I had talent capturing the kids (because they never stayed that still for her).
My mom said I was just like my dad (because he had done the same to us kids). He had a contraption on top of the camera that held 4 400 watt bulbs and close-ups caused sunburn.
My dad got better over time and filmed at least 3 Christmas days. We watched them to prove a point. Now over 50 years later all of the boys (4) in my family are bald. Probably caused by the 1600 watts.

  • Embedded youtube video not showing up in IE

Ok, I dont know whats wrong here. Im redesigning a site and Im trying to embed a youtube video. It works fine in ff and in chrome but nothing appears on my page at all in IE. Ive looked on every forum i could for the answer but no one seems to really have one that I already havent done. Ive checked everything i need to in tools/internet options, as well as in control panel. I tried uploading another video and i get the same problem. ALSO, I tried making the video real big on my page just for kicks...in ff, it showed up and my whole page was out of whack. I checked in IE and everything was how it should be but without the video. So apparently IE isnt picking it up at all. Code is below and video is in RED. Forgive the amount of text. I never seem to paste enough of it in. Please take a look.
Note: using asp for this site so thatswhy you wont find <html> or <body> tags. Code is also a little messy but my job is to just re-design whats already there.
    Thanks for your potential help...

<p>Volumes can make your book available all over the world to major booksellers&rsquo; websites. We also provide our own on-line bookstore to handle e-commerce distribution if this is the route that you choose to take. <br>
              </p>
By working with Volumes to self-publish you will:
                      <ol>
<li>Keep total control of your book. Ownership of the content and design is all yours &ndash; You keep the rights. Whether you sell the content to other publishing houses, foreign rights, television or promotion rights &ndash; You will own them all.</li>
<li>Cover layout and design at no extra cost. We understand the concept of the cover sells and will work with the cover layout until you are 100% satisfied.</li>
<li>We take the headaches out of producing the EAN bar code, ISBN number, Library of congress number, Copyright page and Cataloging in Publication data.</li>
<li>With our state-of-the-art electronic archival system you can print the quantity you want when you want it. This new process lowers the risk that you would undertake using any other publishing process. No more administration cost for warehousing, obsolescence and interest expense. You have no extra cost for ordering on demand. You also have the ability to make revisions and updates at a later date with no additional cost.</li>
<li>We manage the royalties and pay you on a bi-monthly schedule plan. By partnering with Volumes you will reap the well-deserved rewards. When signing up with most publishing firms you will not only lose total control but you will receive a royalty payment between 6% &ndash; 8% per book. By self-publishing you will increase this royalty to over 60% of the retail price.</li>
<li>Volumes' consulting team will also sell the books to you at our print cost. When you need to sell your book in seminars, book affairs and other related shows we will not offer a discount but sell you the books at cost. We encourage this as you take the extra time and effort in selling your book. We want you to be well-rewarded.</li>
<li>We work with the National Library to register your book. We ship 2 copies for their records and charge no extra shipping or handling fee.</li>

You added a couple of spaces to the Youtube code.
    Change:
    & border=1
    to:
    &border=1
in two places so that it matches the code from the Youtube embed code. Or copy the code from Youtube again. The result:
    <td width="45%" align="left"><object width="305" height="214"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4_hzyUKzRII&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4_hzyUKzRII&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="305" height="214"></embed></object></td>
    It works in my test.
